2. ABOUT ME
Kristin Dziadul
I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health
Coach with a focus on helping clients with
digestive issues, fatigue, and anxiety. I received
my Health Coach training from the Institute for
Integrative NutritionÂź (IIN), where I studied more
than one hundred dietary theories and a variety
of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing
on this knowledge, I use a personalized
approach that is based on the unique body,
lifestyle, preferences and goals of each client in
order to help them achieve success.
4. These days, it seems like just
about everyone has an allergy
5. In 1970, just 10% of Americans
reported having allergies(running
nose, watery-eyes, sneezing)
6. By 2010, that number TRIPLED to
30% of Americans having allergies.
7. Between 1997 and 2011, the number of people
reporting FOOD allergies increased by 50 percent...
...while the number of children reporting peanut
allergies tripled.
8. Today, 300 million people worldwide
have asthma...
...and 1 billion people now suffer from some type
of food allergy, sensitivity or intolerance.
10. Why are allergies everywhere?
Climate change is causing longer, warmer seasons which increases pollen
exposure
Growth of allergenic weeds is on the rise with increased carbon emissions
The decreasing quality of our food and the rise of GMOs are damaging our
microbiomes and harming our immune systems
Over 100,000 new chemicals have been developed for use in material goods
in just the past few decades, and only a SMALL percentage have been tested
for their long-term effects on our health...
11. Despite all this, there are ways to build resistance
and stay healthy, even in a challenging
environment.
13. 1.Reduce Household Chemical Exposure
Studies by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) show that routine
chemical exposure increases our overall âtoxic burdenâ
The result: Chronic inflammation
These chemicals can change our immune system function
Replace household brands like Lysol, antibacterial cleaners with greener
options
Swap out plastic containers with glass containers or BPA-free plastic
14. 2. Improve Indoor Air Quality
Candles, air fresheners and even dryer sheets are full of toxic chemicals
Swap with soy or beeswax candles
Use wool dryer balls with essential oils for scents
New furniture and carpets can release chemicals that end up in our household
dust
Opt for vintage or secondhand items, go to tag sales!
West Elm has many high quality carpet options
15. 3. Eat an Anti-Inflammatory Diet
The food you eat either helps your body defend itself or adds fuel to the fire
70% of the immune system is located in the digestive system, so to fend off
irritants, you need a healthy gut
Diverse gut microbiome and enough beneficial bacteria will reduce susceptibility to allergies and
allergic reactions
Processed and fast foods high in sugar and unhealthy fats are highly
inflammatory
Focus on eating whole and organic foods (fruits, vegetables, complex carbs,
pasture-raised meat and wild caught fish)
16. Anti-Inflammatory Whole Food Sources
Strawberries
High in the flavonoid fisetin, which helps protect T-regs from damage
Sweet potatoes
High amounts of Vitamin A
Lentils
High amount of folates
Parsley
Rich in the flavonoid apigenin (anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory)
17. 4. Feed Your Good Bacteria
Good gut health is the foundation of overall health
Antibiotics and antibacterial hand sanitizers are now proven to damage the
microbiome
Over exposure harms immunity and creates allergy resilience
Feed and populate good bacteria with:
A high quality probiotic
Probiotic-rich foods -- sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, kefir
Drink bone broth for collagen and gelatin, seal gut lining
18. 5. Support Your Digestive Enzymes
If you aren't producing enough digestive enzymes, you canât break down
allergens
Signs you lack digestive enzymes include:
Burping, gas, feeling full quickly, acid reflux
Supplement with digestive enzymes to ensure you have proper levels for
allergen breakdown and digestion of other key nutrients
19. 6. Supplement Vitamin D
Ensure proper Vitamin D levels year-round for balanced immune function
Just about everyone today is low in Vitamin D levels
Working indoors more, getting less sunlight exposure
Get tested
Supplement with a high-quality Vitamin D3 supplement
20. 7. Choose Natural Antihistamines
Swap out the benadryl for natural antihistamines such as:
Quercetin
Stinging nettle
Vitamin C supplements and foods
Glutathione - powerful antioxidant for tissue repair
Eat sulfur-rich foods like garlic, onion and broccoli to boost glutathione in the body
Or take a glutathione-supporting supplement such as N-acetyl cysteine
Elderberry
21. Is it an Allergy, Intolerance or Sensitivity?
Allergy
Can be tested by a doctor
Allergy is confirmed if you test positive when a food or toxin triggers an
antibody called immunoglobulin E, or IgE
This tells the cells to produce histamines which causes acute symptoms of an allergy -- sneezing,
watery eyes, even anaphylaxis
22. Is it an Allergy, Intolerance or Sensitivity?
Intolerance or Sensitivity
Donât show up in conventional allergy tests because these irritants donât trigger
the IgE antibody
Instead, they trigger the immunoglobulin G, or IgE, which leads to inflammatory
symptoms
These reactions are called intolerances or sensitivities
Can set in up to 24 hours after exposure, harder to detect
Fecal and breath tests can detect, as well as running an elimination diet
23. Symptoms of Sensitivity or Intolerance
Weight gain
Muscle aches
Joint pain
Fatigue
Brain fog
Bloating
Stomach pain
24. Beat the allergies this year
Reduce exposure to toxins and chemicals
Eat an anti-inflammatory diet
Support your immune and digestive systems
Consume natural antihistamines

Toxic burden = the accumulation of chemicals that can be measured in our bloodstream at any time
