Micronized Progesterone Soft Gelatin Capsules (Endogest 100 mg and 200 mg) are used in the prevention of endometrial hyperplasia in nonhysterectomized postmenopausal women who are receiving conjugated estrogens tablets. They are also used to treat secondary amenorrhea as well as to maintain pregnancy.

4. Micronized Progesterone Capsules
Recommended Adult Dosage
The recommended dosage of Micronized
Progesterone capsules (Endogest) is given below:
➔Prevention of Endometrial Hyperplasia:
Micronized Progesterone capsules should be given
as a single daily dose in the evening, 200 mg orally
for 12 days sequentially per 28 day cycle, to
postmenopausal women with a uterus who are
receiving daily conjugated estrogens tablets.
➔Secondary Amenorrhea: Micronized
Progesterone Capsules may be given as a single
daily dose of 400 mg in the evening for 10 days.

Contraindications
Micronized Progesterone Soft Gelatin
Capsules (Endogest 100 mg and 200 mg)
are contraindicated in patients with the
following conditions:
➔Known hypersensitivity to Progesterone or any
inactive ingredient of this medication.
➔Thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic disorders,
cerebral apoplexy, or patients with a past history of
these conditions.
➔Severe liver dysfunction or disease.
➔Known or suspected malignancy of breast or
genital organs.

Contraindications

are contraindicated in patients with the
following conditions:
➔Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.
➔Missed abortion.
➔As a diagnostic test for pregnancy.

Side Effects of Micronized Progesterone
The most common side effects of Micronized
Progesterone capsules (Endogest) are Headache,
Breast Tenderness, Joint Pain, Depression,
Dizziness, Abdominal Bloating, Hot Flashes,
Urinary Problems, Abdominal Pain, Vaginal
Discharge, Nausea / Vomiting, Worry, Chest Pain,
Diarrhea, Night Sweats, Breast Pain, Swelling of
Hands and Feet, Vaginal Dryness, Constipation,
Breast Carcinoma, Breast Excisional Biopsy and
Cholecystectomy.

Warnings And Precautions
➔Should Thrombotic disorders (thrombophlebitis,
cerebrovascular disorders, pulmonary embolism, and
retinal thrombosis) occur or be suspected, Micronized
Progesterone capsules should be discontinued
immediately.
➔Discontinue medication pending examination if there is
sudden partial or complete loss of vision, or if there is a
sudden onset of proptosis, diplopia or migraine. If
examination reveals papilledema or retinal vascular
lesions, medication should be withdrawn.
➔Pretreatment physical examination should include special
reference to breast and pelvic organs, as well as
Papanicolaou smear.

9. Micronized Progesterone Capsules
Warnings And Precautions
➔Since Progesterone may cause some degree of fluid
retention, conditions which might be influenced by this
factor, such as epilepsy, migraine, asthma, cardiac or
renal dysfunction, require careful observation.
➔In cases of breakthrough bleeding, as in any cases of
irregular bleeding per vaginum, nonfunctional causes
should be borne in mind.
➔Patients who have a history of psychic depression should
be carefully observed and the drug discontinued if the
depression recurs to a serious degree.
➔Transient dizziness may occur in some patients. Use
caution when driving a motor vehicle or operating
machinery.

10. Micronized Progesterone Capsules
Overdose Symptoms
The toxicity of Progesterone is very low.
In case of overdose of Endogest Soft
Gelatin Capsules (Micronized
Progesterone), the following symptoms
may arise: nausea, vomiting, sleepiness,
dizziness, depressive mood, tiredness,
acne and hirsutism (hairiness).

11. Micronized Progesterone Capsules
Overdose Treatment
In the case of overdosage, treatment
with Endogest Soft Gelatin Capsules
(Micronized Progesterone), should
be discontinued and the patient
should be treated symptomatically.
