The Gold Coasts answer to the Melbourne Cup is about to take this famous surfing city to the track,
as the prestigious Magic Millions 2015 gallops off to a great start this January.
So what is The Millions?
Magic Millions Sales Pty Ltd is an Australian Thoroughbred racehorse auction held each January at
Surfers Paradise in Queensland.
Eight days of horse auctions are celebrated with a major thoroughbred horse race meet where all ten
races are only open to horses that were bought at auctions staged by Magic Millions over the
previous years.
The Magic Millions is now considered to be a top-level auction in global racing circles, with buyers
from Hong Kong, Japan, Europe and the Middle East. Top Australian trainers are also a prominent
feature at this event including Gai Waterhouse, Lee Freedman and David Hayes.

In the late 1990’s the auction house was almost bankrupt. Bought by three businessmen including
the Australian retail entrepreneur and horse breeder Gerry Harvey and Australian advertising
entrepreneur John Singleton.

This charismatic partnership along with better funding, advertising and networking has succeeded
in growing and securing The Magic Millions on the national and international racing calendar. Now
known as Jeep Magic Millions this annual event starts on January the 2nd and culminates in more
than a $4 million prize pool on race day on the 10th.

year again is royal Zara Phillips daughter of
Princess Anne. With the birth of her first child
last January to husband Mike Tindall, Zara for
obvious reasons was unable to attend but confirmed in October 2014 she will definitely be here.

last year,” said Phillips.
“I can’t wait to enjoy some good weather on the Gold Coast and being part of the Jeep Magic

ambassador for the event.
“Edwina is an amazing woman, she is at the very top of her sport internationally,” said Phillips.
“She will bring a lot of glamour, as well as her very determined, driven and successful
