- PROMOTING Determining the appropriate “social Software” functionality to deploy to meet the needs of the community is extremely important. Going to places where the students and community already are will expedite promotion and marketing. Theses applications are rich with potential to collaborate, promote and market resources and services.
- FAIRS /CONTESTS/RAFFLES: Creating opportunities to combine resources and departments on campus with fairs/contests/raffles builds greater awareness will promoting services and resources. …this is a banned book week fair at Amherst College in the student center. We collaborated with student groups and clubs to create a resource rich event. IT – Health Fairs – Job Fairs – Cultural Holidays – Video Gaming – Tabling – Snapshot Day – Causes – National Library Week etc…
- GATHERINGS/EXHIBITS: Creating programs to bring the community together is a great way to promote resources and services. These are photos of events from the 18th annual African American Read-In where we had a televised feed to the lobby of the library. Screenings of documentary’s are another great tool along with feeding the students. Using different technologies to get the word out….
- SCREENINGS: Teaming up with community organizations and groups is another great promotional tool. Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association/Hollywood Librarian add exhibits in the library an additional great way to promote the resources and services. Alumni groups such as the Education/Teachers Alumni group in the photo below during alumni weekend giving them information on free educational resources and the great opportunity to network. Interactive video conferences, chat and texting for distance learning.
