 Climate: Temperate, four distinct seasons
 The Romanian Parliament consists of two chambers: the Senat (Senate)
and the Camera Deputaţilor (Chamber of Deputies). The members of both
are chosen in elections held every four years.
 Official LANGUAGE: Romanian
 RESOURCES: Romania has considerable natural resources – oil, natural
gas, coal, iron, copper and bauxite. Metal-working, petrochemicals and
mechanical engineering are the main industries.
 ETHNIC GROUPS: Romanians 89.5%, Hungarian 6.6%, Rroms 2.5%,
Germans 0.3%, Ukrainians 0.3%, Russians 0.2%, Serbs 0.2%, other 0.8%
 RELIGION: over 86.8 % of the population belong to the Orthodox church.
 RELIEF: Romania is mountainous in the north while the main feature in
the south is the vast Danube valley. The river forms a delta as it
approaches the Black Sea.

15. THE DANUBE DELTA
The greater part of the Danube Delta lies in Romania
(Tulcea county), while its northern part-on the left
bank of the Chilia channel-is situated in Ukraine
(Odessa Oblast). The surface is 4152 km², of which
3446 km² are in Romania. The Delta is formed around
the three main channels of the Danube: Chilia (in the
north), Sulina (in the middle), and Sfantu Gheorghe
(in the south).

17. Warm climate, miles of sand beaches, ancient monuments, vineyards and modern
resorts invite travellers to consider Romania's Black Sea Coast as their summer
vacation destination. Beaches, stretching from Mangalia to Mamaia, have nice resorts
and hotels, countless sports and entertainment facilities.
The Black Sea coast has long been known for cures of arthritic, rheumatic, internal
and nervous disorders. Eforie Nord and Mangalia Spas specialize in mud baths (the
mud is taken from the area's salty lake waters) as well as in world famous "Gerovital"
and "Aslavital" original rejuvenation treatments.

19. ORTHODOX MONASTERIES
exist throughout Romania but, traditionally, few are constructed on a
monumental scale. In Northern Moldavia a particular style was used in the
construction of the monasteries, of which the most important are the
painted monasteries of Bucovina - UNESCO World Heritage Sites - such as
those of Voroneţ, Putna, Moldoviţa and Suceviţa.
