Preparation of Nasya Tailam

Dose of Nasya
• Teekshna Aushadha = 1 Sana (8 drops) (1600 mg)
• Hingu (niryasa) = 1 Yava (16mg)
• Saindhava Lavana = 1 Masha = 400mg
• Ksheera = 8 sana (64 drops)• Ksheera = 8 sana (64 drops)
• Udaka = 3 karsha / 3 tola (36gm)
/• Sharkara / Madhura dravya = 1 Karsha (12gm)

Snehapaka

• Paka are 3 types Mrudu, Madhyama, Khara paka

– Non‐Liquidly and soft – Madhyamapaka
No liquid and hard Kharapaka– No liquid and hard ‐ Kharapaka
• The other two not to be used are – Khara (over
burnt) & Amapaka (uncooked)burnt) & Amapaka (uncooked)
• Test: If the Kalka is soft & non sticky extends like
wick and when burnt do not show any waterwick and when burnt do not show any water
content with splitting noise is well cooked taila

SOP for Pratimarsha Nasya
i h i k l i l i (• Pratimarsha Nasya is taken multiple times (16
times) in a day with a minimal dose (2 drops)
dipped a finger in the medicine or a pinch of
powder
• Indication: Children, Aged, Lean, Healthy, etc.
• Contraindication: Dushta Peenasa ShirogataContraindication: Dushta Peenasa, Shirogata
Kriimiroga, Alcoholic, etc.

Ghee

hot water cloth as Purvakarma
• Hyper extended neck in supine position• Hyper extended neck in supine position
• Administer the scheduled dose as Pradhanakarma

• Undertake small local massage
• Gandusha & Dhooma pana to be done as
Paschatkarma

Dhumapana (Nasya)

• Dhooma Nasya is consumed with

• Daily 3‐4 times in day it is
practiced
• This can be done as vapor also

• Two types
– Vaidya Nimitta (iatrogenic) –

• Ati Ushna = Raktagama, Paka, Bhrama
• Twarita =murcha
• Nishiddha
• Sarvamm(all above) = Utsnehana, Shiroroga

• Atyunnata, Atyavanata, Prachalita, etc 6 vyapat
• Two types yp
– Doshotlesha Nimitta = Use shamana for it
– Doshakshaya Nimitta = Brumhana to be done

Conclusion
• Nasya karma is a best procedure of nasal
insufflated medicine in Ayurveday
• It can be either hydrophilic or lipophilic in
naturenature
– It means swarasa, dugdha or kashaya as
hydrophilic and taila or ghruta as lipophilic are
used
– The nasal route is the best to reach Head and the
best management for the diseases of head.
