The document provides information about a robotics competition that involves designing a robot to climb a 3.2 cm diameter pole to a height of 1 meter within 1 minute. Top teams from each participating city that complete the task will advance to the main competition at IIT Guwahati. The main competition will have total prizes of 50,000 INR for the top teams. Teams of up to 4 students can participate, and the robot must fit within size and weight limits.

Problem Statement
3. Gameplay
• The robot should climb a pole of diameter 3.2 cm to a height
of 1 m in specified time interval.
• The gameplay consists of only one round.
• Three runs will be given to each team.
• The maximum time taken to complete one run is 1 minute.
• The best score achieved by the participants will be
considered for their selection for the mains event to be held
at IIT Guwahati during Techniche’12.
4. Winners
• Top 3 teams emerging from each region will qualify for the
final round.
5. Prizes for Prelims:
• Top 3 teams from each of the above cities will be invited
to participate in the Mains event to be held during
Techniche.
• They will get a “TICKET TO TECHNICHE”, i.e. their
travel cost will be reimbursed* by the Techniche Team
as an incentive apart from awarding Zonal winner
certificates.
• The other teams will be given participation certificates
for acknowledging their participation.
*conditions apply
8. Participation Fee:
• Prelims Round : Every team will be charged a sum of
200 rupees as participation fee.
• Mains Round : There won’t be any special
participation fee for the mains event but the teams
will have to pay the registration fee for Techniche
9. Team specifications:
• A team may consist of a maximum of 4 members.
• Students from different educational institutes can
form a team.
10. Bot specifications:
• Each team is allowed to have only one bot.
• The bot must fit into a cube of dimensions 250 mm x 250 mm x 250
mm(lxbxh). The bot must not expand beyond these limits at any point of the race.
The bot cannot split in more than one parts during the race.
• The weight of the bot must not exceed 5kg. Any sort of power adapters or
remotes (if used) will not be considered within this constraint.
• External off-board power supply is allowed. Organizers will provide 220V 50Hz ac
supply.
• The max voltage difference between any two points on the bot must not exceed
24V.
• The bot may be manual or autonomous.
• The bot cannot be constructed using ready-made Lego kits or any ready-made
mechanism. But you can make use of ready-made gear assemblies. Violating this
clause will lead to the disqualification of the team.
11. General Rules:
• At the start of the run, the teams will have to keep the bot in the allotted starting
position.
• Any team that is not ready at the time specified will be removed from the
competition automatically.
• The machines would be checked for their safety before the run and would be
discarded if found unsafe for other participants and spectators.
• Any machine which damages the arena will be disqualified.
• Participants should not dismantle their robots before the completion of the
whole competition as the machines might need to be verified by the organisers
at a later stage to ensure that the participants have not violated any of the rules.
• Organizers' decision shall be treated as final and binding on all.
• The organizers reserve the right to change any or all of the above rules as they
