58. The Bahamas Down Syndrome Association Established 1996 | Nassau, Bahamas About Us  The Bahamas Down syndrome Association was first established in 1996 by Pamela Forbes Merchant and Mrs. Ida Poitier Turnquest.   The association has had many wonderful social events, from kite flying to tea parties and a wonderful Christmas party and fun day at the Adventure Learning Center. The association has also held two â Buddy Walksâ which have been our two major fund raisers for the past two years. Our âBuddy Walksâ have been a huge success and is a wonderful opportunity for friends, families and our community to embrace our beautiful children.  Our goal is to assist educators in embracing our children and enabling every individual with Down syndrome to reach their full potential.  The Bahamas Down syndrome Association hopes to raise a greater awareness in our community for the betterment of our beautiful and special children and adults. â We will make a difference! If we can all work together, we will get the job done!â
