Dear Friend of Tubman University,
As world economy and international relations affect the daily lives of young people across the globe,
particularly in developing countries, three United States Universities have volunteered generously to
become development partners with the William V. S. Tubman University (TU). TU is the second public
institution of tertiary education located in Harper, Maryland County. Established in 2009, TU will be the
host of an architectural design competition that will lead to the construction of an “e-brary” on TU campus.
In pursuit of this unique endeavor, Howard, Morgan State and Tuskegee Universities will announce their
collective ventures with TU on June 28, 2013, when the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be
signed, followed by a reception celebrating the launching of the collaboration. Among the guests will be
dignitaries from all four Universities, the Liberian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and leaders of the
Marylanders for Progress along with other Liberian Diaspora organizations in the USA.
It is envisaged that the competition under reference will provide an opportunity, as well as a challenge, to
students at US University campuses to become part of the rebuilding of TU that was entirely destroyed
during the Liberian civil conflict. The "new" TU enrolled its first student body comprising 287 students in
2009; that number has risen to more than 800 in 2013. While the students pursue their college education,
all campus facilities and structures are being re-constructed around them.
The TUF Board kindly invites you to join in support of this worthy cause by becoming a sponsor of this
Inaugural Gala Reception that will support the International Architectural Design Competition. Your
financial contribution is important in as much as it will place you on the Team dedicated to the mission of
the TUF Board which is to:
"To generate support for quality educational opportunities at Tubman University that will
transform lives in service to Liberia and Africa as a whole."
Please, consider being a Presenting Sponsor at $5,000.00. This tax deductible gift will place your
corporation's name as presenter in all promotional material, all signage at the Gala Event, all printed
material that is sent relating to the competition and eight guests at the gala who will be acknowledged.
We humbly thank you for considering joining the Team to make this Architectural Design Competition a
major success. We believe it will bring your corporation, Howard, Morgan State, and Tuskegee
Universities, as well as TU outstanding visibility and recognition for believing in the value of international
education.
We look forward to hearing from you in due course, and seeing you at the Gala event on June 28, 2013.
Sincerely,
Rev. Rita Townsend
