Fatpipe Prevails Against XRoads Networks in Software Defined Networking Patent Battle

In a latest ruling in the patent battle the Utah federal court has rejected XRoads Networks patent validity challenge over one of its Software Defined Networking patents. In its press release the FatPipe has said “we are pleased to announce that a validity challenge to our patent has been rejected by a Utah federal court in FatPipe Networks, Ltd. v. XRoads Networks, Inc. In its ruling, the federal court denied XRoads' motion for summary judgment of invalidity of FatPipe's patents.”

In a latest legal spat between companies, Kyoto-based Kyocera withdrew its patent infringement lawsuit against Hanwha Q Cells Japan filed earlier in relation to its Solar Technology patent. The move was taken by the company following the conclusion of a technology-licensing agreement between the two companies. The lawsuit was filed b the plaintiff in July 2014 with the Tokyo District Court after negotiations with Hanwha failed to progress, according to Kyocera.

In a new setback, Suntory Holdings Ltd. one of the renowned beverage makers has lost a long-battling patent infringement battle with rival Asahi Breweries Ltd. on Thursday, with the Tokyo District Court rejecting its demand for a halt to production and sales of Asahi’s nonalcoholic beer. Earlier, Suntory filed the lawsuit against Asahi in January after they failed to resolve the dispute through talks. With this patent suit, the plaintiff had sought the suspension of Asahi’s Dry Zero, which was re-launched in September 2013 and in its lawsuit the plaintiff had alleged that Asahi’s Dry Zero products are infringing on patent application filed in November 2012 and approved in October 2013.

In a milestone verdict in the Patent and Trademark arena, one of the renowned Industrial and Marine Ventilation Solution providers, Eldridge, prevails against Jurong Shipyard Pte., over Enjet patent infringement lawsuit. According to verdict, the plaintiff Eldridge will be receiving a hefty sum of $800,000 from Jurong Shipyard Pte., Ltd as a compensatory and monetary injunction in lieu of infringing upon its proprietary patent by the defendant. The verdict came into existence when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., denied a request by Jurong Shipyard Pte., Ltd., subsidiaries of Atwood Oceanics Inc. and Seadrill Limited, and Azen Manufacturing Pte. Ltd, for a rehearing of the patent suit, reaffirming the court’s decision that the defendants had infringed on Eldridge ENJET’s patent. It is important to underline here that ENJET is a technology that addresses a longstanding problem in the offshore drilling industry and the Houston-based Eldridge originally filed this lawsuit in November 2011.

In a latest move in the patents and trademark world, Watertown, MA based Exergen Corporation has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Taipei, Taiwan based medical equipment manufacturer Microlife for infringing its Infrared Thermometer technology without its consent. According to reports from various sources, the patent lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts in which the litigator has sought monetary compensation and injunction for using its technology unlawfully. The patent lawsuit filed by Exergen Corporation alleges that the Taipei based company has made infrared thermometers that infringe its ‘386 patent and caused such thermometers to be used, offered for sale, and sold in various parts of the United States. It is important to underline here that the thermometers which are under the scope of this lawsuit are sold in various parts of the country by Kaz USA, Inc, under the name Braun Forehead Thermometer and Vicks Forehead Thermometer. The marketer and distributor of these thermometers, Kaz USA, Inc. is a subsidiary of Helen of Troy, Ltd. of Hamilton Bermuda.

In a latest development in the field of Patent and Trademark, the United States Patent Office approved a new patent to tech giant Apple that will help device/devices expel droplets of liquid automatically using electrical energy. According to sources, the acoustic module present in the device will use pulse of energy to determine if there is any water and if so it will be expelled through the outlet by one of the electrodes.
