11. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON
Mobile Making: A Class Universe on the Ceiling
Procedure:
1. Form five groups. Tell each group to make a stars of different sizes.
One group will be assigned to make half-moon in addition to the stars.
2. Assigned groups will draw small stars (white) and big stars (yellow).
3. The moon will be mounted directly on the ceiling using masking
tape.
4. Each groups hangs its mobile to the ceiling in places designated by
the teacher.
5. After working, the children tidy up their work area and put the art
materials in their proper place.
6. try to stare at the class “Universe” with lights off and allow the
students to enjoy the view.
12. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON
PROCESSING
Meaning Making Through Art
Allow the children to reflect on their art making process. Each group must
have representatives.
1. Why did you work in groups?
2. How much time did it take your group to finish the
artwork?
3. How did you feel after you completed your work?
4. Who would like you to invite to see our class
“Universe”?
13. SYNTHESIS
Guide the children in making a statement about the universe, the moon
and the stars, using as many descriptive words as possible.
IV. EVALUATION
Turn the lights off. Use a flashlight to light the
ceiling. Ask students to compress/form circle and
look at the class “universe”. Make them imagine
that they are Yuri Gagarin floating in the sky,
surrounded by moon and the stars.
14. After a few minutes, turn the lights on. Make each group to talk
about their experience. Each group must have representatives.
1. What did you observe in the class “Universe”?
2. How did you feel about what you saw?
3. How do you think Yuri Gagarin felt when he was actually up
in the universe?
The teacher will listen to the children’s discussion and observe
how they can articulate their feelings and ideas.
15. V. ASSIGNMENT
Go outside your house at night and observe
the moon and the stars. Get a bond paper
and draw the arrangement of the moon and
stars in the sky. Be prepared to share this in
class.
