group’s	work	process.

new	value	in	the	workshop.

The	role	to	lead	the	group	through	the	inquiry	process	in	
order	to	create	a	new	value.	
Represents	a	certain	characteris(c/condi(on	of	a	person.	
Teachers,	facilitators,	team	leaders,	parents…etc.

Workshop	Generator	Pa/erns
A	paSern	language	for	workshop	generators	to	successfully	
lead	the	group	and	create	a	new	value	in	a	workshop.	
We	interviewed	experienced	workshop	generators,	
generator-like	teachers,	workshop	organizers	and	used	the	
method	of	paSern	language	in	order	to	put	the	knowledge	
into	words.	
Captures	the	essence	of	the	role	of	workshop	generator.

e.g.	Way	of	thinking,	ac(ons	to	take,	prevent	problems.	
Helps	the	reader	understand	the	core	value	of	workshop	
generator.
Why	PaSern	Language?
Originally	stated	by	an	architect,	Christopher	Alexander.	
A	method	to	mine	the	(ps,	hints,	way	of	thinking	and	
put	them	into	words.	
Each	essence	mined	will	then	be	named,	which	makes	it	
possible	to	share	the	knowledge	with	others.	
All	the	paSerns	under	a	theme	is	related	to	each	other	
and	creates	a	network-like	structure,	expressing	the	
wholeness.

“…I	kept	in	mind	the	A	New	Perspective	pattern	and	tried	to	
explain	to	the	participants	the	purpose	of	the	workshop,	
which	was	to	come	up	with	ideas	to	create	a	dormitory	where	
students	can	enjoy	their	student	life	experience	as	a	whole.	I	
think	this	worked	well,	for	group	came	up	with	not	only	ideas	
about	the	functional	aspects	of	the	building,	but	also	about	
activities	and	interaction	between	students.”

when	the	overall	atmosphere	of	our	group	was	very	intimate	and
