3. GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES
Geographical features: The
biome of this area is desert
and xeric shrub land, which
are shrub lands with very little
moisture. The mountain
ranges of this area are located
in the north of Mexico, and the
area of the Sonoran desert is
approximately 120,000 square
miles, which is 310,798.5732
square meters.
Surprisingly this is shaped like
a horseshoe.

4. ANIMAL SHELTERS
Animal shelters: The reason that many animals
live in the hot, dry wasteland, is that this area is
close to the ocean, so it rains up to 25 centimeters
of rain, which is enough for the cacti to grow large.
But the Sonoran desert is really hot, so the
animals living there need to adapt to the harsh
environment. For example, the Kangaroo rat
doesn't need water because it obtains water from
the plant and vegetation it digested. Another
example is on the Jackrabbit. Its very large ears
contain allot of blood vessels, which helps it
release heat inside its body. Most animals dig
deep burrows in the ground to keep cool.
Scientists have discovered about 60 mammal
species living in the Sonoran desert, 350 bird
species, 20 amphibian species, 100 reptile
species, 30 native fish species, 1000 native bee
species, and 2000 native plant species, making a
total of 3560 species of flora and fauna in this
amazing part of the world. Although it doesn't
really look anything like a desert!
What a strange desert...
5. ADAPTIONS
Adaptions: Have you ever wondered how animals and plants survive the desert? How
do they lose heat? How are they able to live with such little amounts of water? And how
are they able to survive the freezing temperatures at night? Well these are your
answers.
Plants can survive these conditions easily since they can store amounts of water inside
their bodies. Animals, however, have disadvantages, since they can't keep water inside
their body for very long. But a solution to this problem is that nearly every animal living
in the Sonoran desert avoid the high temperatures in the day, so this means they are
mostly active in the cool night. Another solution is that birds or mammals can decrease
the amount of heat in their body by shedding some of their fur or feathers. Otherwise
there are many ways for animals to adapt the heat and climate.

7. ANIMALS AND PLANTS
The Sonoran desert has lots of animals and plants. The plants are all very interesting, animals on the over hand
are very weird especially the kangaroo rat.
Here are some animal facts
The Kangaroo Rat has tiny arms and big feet and is not endangered.
The Gambel's quail is a unique bird and is an extremely popular hunting bird.
And now some plants
The Prickly pear cactus is also called a tuna and live for 20 years.
The Fishhook barrel cactus is quite small and is shaped like a barrel.
There are many, many animals in the Sonoran desert.

8. CONCLUSION
Well, was the Sonoran desert interesting? Was this presentation
excellent? We can't say if it was interesting or excellent, that is your
decision. But we think that this work on the Sonoran desert was one of
our most favourite projects.WHERE the desert is, HOW much species
live in the Sonoran desert, and how DO they survive the harsh
environment. But we would like to say...
