The Amazon Storage Gateway – virtual tape library (VTL) offers a durable, cost-effective solution to offline
data archiving. The VTLinterface lets you use Backup Exec™ 2014 to store data on virtual tape cartridges,
which you create on your gateway-VTL.
Each virtual tape can be stored in a Virtual Tape Library backed by Amazon S3 or a Virtual Tape Shelf backed
by Amazon Glacier.
The combination of Backup Exec™ 2014 and the Riverbed SteelStore Appliance allow customers and
partners to easily adopt cloud storage as an effective way to achieve offsite protection of their critical data
assets, while maintaining access to local backup sets for quick recovery.
Backup Exec™ 2014 seamlessly integrates with Quantum Q-Cloud to write data to the cloud, which allows
customers the flexibility to add cloud as part of a global DR strategy. Customers can choose a physical
Quantum DXi appliance or a DXi Accent software plug-in to connect Backup Exec 2014 to Q-Cloud. Because
of the implementation of OST technology, only unique data is sent to the cloud, reducing network traffic,
backup times and enhancing recovery speed.
