3. VISUAL STRATEGIES
• Uses symbolism and different formats, fonts
and colors to emphasize important points
• Prefer using images, pictures, colors, and maps
to organize information
• Have a greater sense of direction and can
memorize based off of remembering visuals
about that certain place
• Often close eyes to visualize places, people,
and objects
• Often show signs of a photographic memory
• Exceedingly observant
4. VISUAL STRATEGIES AND COLLEGE
Some professors get it!
Visuals in classrooms such as pictures, and notes on
a white board are becoming more and more
common in schools across the globe!
Visual learners are becoming widely accepted and
understood, and most teaching methods have
adapted to include visuals.
5. KINESTHETIC
• Have a easier time focusing when
physically active
• Have a hard time learning during
lectures or by reading out of a textbook
• Can easily repeat actions after
physically doing the action once
• Have higher levels of energy
• Perform well in art and drama
• Considered “fidgety” and constantly
need to be moving some part of their
body (i.e. bouncing their leg)
• Easily distracted when others are
speaking during a professor’s lecture or
in a quiet classroom
8. MY EXPERIENCE…..
Kinesthetic learning styles are harder
to accommodate in a school setting,
however kinesthetic STUDY
techniques make it easier to focus!
Visual Strategies are easier for professors and
teachers to use in a classroom and many
people can use these to their benefit, not
just the people who are more inclined to
learning visually!
How I know I’m a kinesthetic learner….
I click my pen, A LOT
I always fidget!
I’m always tapping my feet in class
Lecture? What lecture???
I can’t stand the people who
have to comment on everything
I love Theatre! I don’t open a textbook
unless I have to
Professor calls on me, I have no idea what they were talking about….
How I know I’m a visual learner….
I like pictures more than words
“Can you show me instead?”
I know where I’m at based off of my surroundings
PowerPoints suck without visuals
I can tell a lot about a person
Just by looking at them
I’m going to draw things out
vs writing down paragraphs
Textbooks aren’t even worth a penny if they don’t have pictures.
9. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!
Everyone has a different learning style, and
that’s OK!
Understanding your learning style will make
classes and studying MUCH easier!
Never give up! Communicate with your
teachers and professors and your fellow
classmates to find a perfect way to pass your
classes.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
