This case study examines the use of positive behavior support with Miguel Rivera, a 6th grade ESL student from Puerto Rico who was not accustomed to being in a classroom. His behavior declined after two more students were added to his one-on-one class. Positive behavior support was implemented using incentives, praise, and tracking his behavior daily. This led to improved behavior, on-task performance, respect, and helping his peers. The student was motivated by computer time, cookies, and feeling like a leader. The approach was deemed effective for Miguel.
