This document provides instructions for using the America: History & Life database to search for historical policy literature. It can be accessed through the library search box and contains articles spanning American and Canadian history from pre-historic times to the present. Tips are given for narrowing searches by time period, language, and using quotation marks to find exact phrases. Options for saving, viewing, and citing sources found in the database are also outlined.

6. Finding historic policy on immigration in the United States Tip: Using quotation marks around a phrase will search for instances of that exact phrase. Without quotation marks will likely give you less exact search results.
7. Try narrowing your search… UsingAmerica: History & Life Narrow the time period you want to search. For a historical policy literature search You have the option to search only for English language articles.
