b Choose a font from the Browser window's list of icons, then hit the
Load from Database button. You can also double click the font's icon.
Enter your text. Text will word-wrap. Adjust the window to the size you like. Consider
how many lines of text you wish to be visible as they move up the screen; adjust the
height of the window accordingly. Don't make the window so large that all of the text is
visible at once. You can even pull the right side over so that your text does not hit a
lower-right bug!
**When opening a crawl window, adjust its width with consideration of the Safe Title
area. This will determine how much of the text is visible and how much of the screen's
width it occupies. The Safe Title area serves as a guide for placing crawls in the
traditional lower-third position.
When you're done typing, scroll down until the last line of text moved up and out of the
roll window. This way, your roll will start Offscreen. You can also use the insert row key
on the keyboard.

***When the text of a Crawl is complete, press the space bar a few times to move the
text toward and past the right edge of the crawl window, making sure the text is out of
the window. This way, your crawl will start Off screen. You can also use the insert
character key on the keyboard.
Hit Xfer and the roll or crawl will be sent to the video output and it will begin. If an older
software version is loaded on your machine, you may get a prompt about the animation
being ready. Hit Okay and the roll or crawl will be sent to the video output and it will
begin.
To change the speed of a roll or crawl, go to the properties window and hit the animation
tab. You can enter a speed (1-10). Choose the Speed control button and enter a value.
Note that Lyric updates the Rate and Duration edit boxes. Make sure to hit apply after
making any changes.
Save rolls and crawls by putting an empty page number in the alphanumeric keypad and
hitting record. Your font and it's attributes, as well as the text, will save with the page.

You can choose a solid color from the palette area. The arrows will give you even more
options. Click the apply and then the OK buttons to apply the color to your crawl
window. The color will only be in the crawl window, so make the window the correct size
for the application.
The ramp/gradient section of the dialog box contains a color square surrounded by four
color anchors. The color assigned to each color anchor influences the color ramp by
affecting only the section of the square near the anchor. To change the color of an
anchor, you must be in ramp mode. Simply move the mouse cursor to the anchor and
click the left mouse button. This will assign the current Solid Color selected to the
anchor and automatically update the color ramp. Right click an anchor and choose quot;tie to
buddyquot; to tie anchors together. Having the top two anchors as one color and the bottom
two as another will make a graduated background.
When you save your roll or crawl, the background information will be saved to the page
as well.

Clocks
Locate the clock button on the Lyric toolbar, or use the pull-down menu. The Properties
menu automatically switches to the Clock/Timer setup tab and a Clock window appears
on the Canvas.
Next, locate the specify appearance area, and within it, the format edit box. Pull down
the list of formats and select how you'd like your clock to look. Typing a +3 before the
format will add 3 hours to the internal computer clock, making the clock you create
correct for west-coast time. Use the font and 2D Font FX tabs to select any font and
edge effects you wish. Next, click the Set Font button. Locate the Operate clock/timer
area and pull down the action menu. Then hit Xfer and your clock will start and be sent
