2. INTRODUCTION OF RELIANCE PETROLEUM
Reliance petroleum Ltd. Was set up by RIL(Reliance
Industries limited).
It is one of the India’s largest private sector companies
based in Mumbai
RPL is subsidiary in of RIL and has interest in the
downstream oil business.
RPL is alliance with Chevron India ltd. Singapore, a wholly
owned subsidiary of Chevron corporation(USA)

in the company
Refining capacity of RIL is 27 million tones
per annum(540000 barrel/day) at Jamnagar
refining complex
RPL will become sixth largest refinery in the
world
4. INTRODUCTION OF BRITISH PETROLEUM(BP)
BP is a oil and gas company headquarters in
London, UK.
It is third largest energy company and fourth
largest company in the world measured by
revenues.
It is active in every area of oil and gas industry
including, exploration, and production,
petrochemicals and power generation

BP has operation in over 80 countries
produces around 3.8 million barrel of oil per
day and has 22400 service stations
worldwide
It’s largest division is BP America, which is
biggest producer of oil and gas in the US.
6. DEAL BETWEEN RIL &BP
BP will buying a 30% stake in 23 oil and gas
production-sharing contracts that RIL operates in
India
This includes oil producing KG-D6 block
It is 50:50 joint venture will be formed between
two companies for sourcing - Mkt. Gas in India
BP will pay RIL US $ 7.2 bn for consideration,
adding of performance payment of up to US $1.8
bn based on exploration success in future.

The deal size may increase to $ 20 bn
depending upon future performance payment
8. ADVANTAGE OF DEAL
The partnership will be focused on finding more
hydrocarbons that will contribute to India’s
energy security
It would create a infrastructure for receiving,
transporting, and marketing of natural gas in
India
