2. What is wordpress?
Wordpress is web software you can use to
create a beautiful website or blog. I like to say
that wordpress is both free and priceless at the
same time.
Software that provides a method of managing
your website is commonly called a CMS or
“content Management System”. And wordpress is
CMS based open source software.
3. Why Wordpress?
• More than million people have used it.
• Uses include:
• Blogging
• Website (Content Management Software)
• Membership Website
4. Designed for the non-programmer
Wordpress was designed primarily for non-
programmer in mind. The design makes it easy for
people who are familiar with other software, such as
Microsoft Word, to get started with their own blog.
The options are set up in a format which does not
require you to know html or php or other code to
begin blogging.
5. • Writing your post is easy to do. It amounts to entering the
blog, or short article on your computer, and then posting it
to the web. This is a very straightforward process to
complete this task.
• One powerful feature of Wordpress is that you can use it to
develop your own personal website. Then when you need
to make changes in the website, you do not have to contact
a programmer and wait for a two week response; you can
make the change immediately.
Designed for the non-programmer(contd..)
6. Wordpress as a Blog
• Wordpress was developed to enable you to easily
setup a blog. The developer states that it is a five-
minute set up process. For more advanced uses and
depending on the server configuration, using it is
more involved and requires more time. However, it
is a very efficient method of getting a quick blog
setup on the Internet to start attracting clients or
publishing your message.
7. What you need ?
You need xampp or wamp server
Wordpress (download it from wordpress.com
or wordpress.org )
8. How to install wordpress in your pc/laptop
• First install xampp/wamp to your pc.
• Unzip the wp package and copy that package to
htdocs(xampp) / www(wamp) folder.
• Start xampp or wamp (check in tray whether
server has been started or not).
• Go to browser and type “localhost/folder_name”.
• Open new tab and type “localhost/phpmyadmin”.
17. After logging in you are on the main Administration Screen called the Dashboard.
This is the brain behind your website, the place where you can let your creativity
explode, writing brilliant prose and designing the best and most lovely website
possible. This is where the organization of your site begins - and this is just the
start.
The various menu items are as follows:
• Dashboard
• Posts
• Media
• Pages
• Comments
• Appearance
• Plugins
• Users
• Tools
• Settings

•
• On most options on the
menu bar, you will see
an arrow on the right
hand side. This expands
the options under the
specific menu choice.
19. Expanding Important topic in Administration Screens
• Post are mini-articles on your website or blog. They
allow you to communicate with your clients and
potential clients. They also allow you to keep your
web content fresh.
20. Expanding Important topic in Administration Screens
• Each post in WordPress is filed under a category.
Thoughtful categorization allows posts to be grouped
with others of similar content and aids in the
navigation of a site.
• Categories will allow you to organize your post. For
example, areas of the law – family law, injury, estate
planning or criminal law.

Plugins
Plugins are custom functions created to extend the core
functionality of Wordpress. The Wordpress developers have
maximized flexibility and minimized code bloat by allowing outside
developers the opportunity to create their own useful add-on
features. As evidenced by the Plugin Directory, there's a Plugin to
enhance virtually every aspect of Wordpress. A Plugin
management tool makes it extremely easy to find and install
Plugins.
