1. What Is My Favorite Word Essay
"Different"
I have a few words that I like and live by , but my favorite word is "different". It takes a lot to be
yourself in a world that is constantly changing. I love to see people who aren't afraid of being
themselves! The ones who would rather lead the pack than follow. I think that God created us
equally, but with our own unique touch.
In this world, everyone comes from different cultures and backgrounds. The world is one big
melting pot full of unique individuals. If we all were the same life would be so boring and serve us
no purpose. When you first meet someone, what is the first thing you notice about them? Is it the
way they speak, dress, or act? I notice the way they think, just by the way they...show more content...
It says " The one who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. Those who
walk alone are likely to find themselves in places no one has ever been before." It has been
linked back to different people , the message is clear as day. It is a powerful quote that I think
everyone should read and live by. It's basically saying if you do not follow your own path it may
cost you. It may not be the path that was meant for you. If you take a leap of faith and use your
own imagination you can go beyond your limits. The truth of it all is anyone can be different.
Even identical twins are different in some way. You will noticed the different personalities
immediately. The world need more strong, positive leaders . We were all put on this earth for a
reason and we can all make a difference and be DIFFERENT.
My goal is to be an elementary teacher. My ultimate goal is to be able to make a difference with
one class at a time. I hope that when I finally get my own classroom, I am blessed enough to teach
my little babies a lot of good values to have inside and out of the classroom. I will make sure they
are comfortable and eager to show me their creativity. Different means having confidence in who
you are. Do not lose your identity because you want to fit in. You are who you are for a

2. My Best Day Essay : My Perfect Day
Have you ever wondered what a perfect day would be like? An everyday routine starts to get
annoying and boring, especially if you don't get a day off. At the moment, my routine is to wake
up early, get ready for school, go to school, and after a long day come back home. From the time I
get home which is around two in the afternoon and by the time I go to sleep, it all consists of doing
homework. Sometimes I wish I can at least take a day off and relax, with having no worries. The
idea of a perfect day for me should be a day to get rid of stress, and should be an unforgettable day.
As the sun started to come out, I knew it was time to start my day. The perfect day that I've always
dreamed of was going to be today. I looked at my...show more content...
In the meantime, while I was waiting for my food to get here I went to the kitchen to wash the
dishes that I left in the morning. After my food got delivered I went back into my bed and started
eating my orange chicken with rice. By that time, I was already in the fourth movie, all of a
sudden it was really dark outside, but I was not scared at all, even though I was home alone. Now
it was around ten at night and I had finished watching the Halloween series. I turned my tv off and
started playing really loud music on my speaker. I knew it was nighttime and the neighbors might
complain, but at the moment I didn't care about anything. I enjoy listening to depressing songs
specially from Coldplay which gets me in the mood to cry. My eyes began to close so I turned my
speaker off as well as the light and I went to sleep. At last, a perfect day for me should be different
from any ordinary day, and should enjoy it like as if it was my last. I see a perfect day as not
something outstanding, but more of like a lazy day. This day was one of the best days I've ever had
because it's been forever since I've taken a break. Many people might do something like this on a
regular day, but for me it was one of the days where I got to stay in bed, relax, and let all of the stress
out. Days like this doesn't hurt and everyone has their own ideal day, but for me is all about being
comfortable. As long as, I have a day off

The speaker is the source of information and ideas for an audience. The job of the source is to
translate ideas and images in his or her mind into verbal or non–verbal symbols that an audience can
recognize. Verbal symbols are words, sentences, sounds, vocally produce noises or alternative
utterances that are said aloud in order to convey some meaning. For example, stop! Is a word
conveying a particular action by sound and can be written out or spoken. Nonverbal symbols are
messages sent to a receiver from the source by means of body language, facial expressions, eye

4. Commitment is My Greatest Quality Essay
Commitment is more than a promise to do or give something. It is the state or quality of being
dedicated and maintaining an attitude of someone who works extremely hard to do or support
something. Commitment not only requires full attention, but also requires diversity. A person who
processes the quality of commitment should be very responsible and well–rounded. I believe I am a
person who represents this unique quality by processing patriotism, willingness to place service
above self, ability to set goals and achieve them, friendliness and helpfulness, diverse interests, strong
work ethic, confidence and leadership, and a strong sense of humor.

Not only have I grown a respect for my peers, but also for my coworkers. Diversity is the state of
being diverse or having variety despite any differences. In today's society, diversity is encouraged to
be accepted. However, within those diverse people, there are diverse interests. For example, I enjoy
sports, participating in musicals, volunteering at Lancaster General Hospital, and learning
instruments. I have been active in my school's track and field and field hockey team. In addition, I
play guitar and piano for my own personal enjoyment and have participated in many of my school's
musicals. Despite my different interests, I maintain a strong work ethic in school by maintaining a
3.7 cumulative GPA which places me on superior honor roll. My strong work ethic is also reflected
outside of school during my after school job at Rutter's.
Confidence and leadership reveals everything about an individual's unique personality. Whether
demonstrated in sports or everyday life, leadership is extremely valuable in the sense of working
well with others. I have learned to develop this trait in sports, work, and school. I have especially
demonstrated this trait during my junior year by participating in York County's Distinguished
Young Women's Program. Not only did this allow me to develop a relationship with strangers, but
also allowed me to explore outside of my comfort zone and project myself to a higher degree than

5. Essay On Personal Artifact
When it comes to self–reflection no one wants to believe that they are different form their peers.
During out youth we struggle with balancing being ourselves and fitting into society. As we look

Reliability and Validity are important aspects of research in the human services field. Without
reliability and validity researchers results would be useless. This paper will define the types of
reliability and validity and give examples of each. Examples of a data collection method and data
collection instruments used in human services and managerial research will be given. This paper
will look into why it is important to ensure that these data collection methods and instruments are

Consider an aptitude test that is designed to predict whether applicants to law school will succeed if

on the test are correlated with the particular criterion of success used to assess it. We would also be
interested in the test's construct validity, as it provides insurance that we are measuring the concept
(or construct) in question. There are other uses of validity that are of interest to us as well, such as
the test's content validity, or how adequately it has sampled the universe of content it purports to
measure. The concept of validity also has several different uses in research design, and in the
following chapters we will examine specific experimental and no experimental designs and how well
each fulfills its function.
There are eight types of validity and they are the following:
Construct validity: The degree to which the conceptualization of what is being measured or
experimentally manipulated is what is claimed, such as the constructs that are measured by
psychological tests or that serves as a link between independent and dependent variables.
Content validity: The adequate sampling of the relevant material or content that a test purports to
measure.
Convergent and discriminant validity: The grounds established for a construct based on the
convergence of related tests or behavior (convergent validity) and the

8. Essay on Determination
Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your
endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen on
wisdomforthesoul.org, "Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination."
Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person's efforts.
Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be truly
determined, a person must first be passionate about what they're doing. Passion, however, is only the
first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be willing to
do anything to achieve said goal. Once they have set...show more content...
(www.merriam–webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination.
When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under
the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as
it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its
destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go
to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to
join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always
been my mindset, and there's no way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical
train, because my destination is set, and there's no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not
stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my
endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run over to reach my
goal, but when one's mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I.
Another dictionary defines determination as firmness of purpose (thefreedictionary.com). When one
is determined, they are ready for what life throws at them, because no matter how obscure the path
may be, they always have a clear view of their final destination. To be determined means to always

"What was your childhood like?" Amanda asked him with a punch to the shoulder. "I didn't really
have one." Aaron knew that this response was simple, but he thought it was the most accurate way
to describe his bleak childhood. "Come on, what about your parents?" She asked as he playfully
leaned on his shoulder and made a faux pouty face. "You must have had parents, right?" While
Amanda spoke, Aaron usually looked her in the eye. Somehow he thought that because of her looks,
she deserved to only be looked at through her eyes. There was something about her turquoise blue
eyes as well. Aaron privately thought that her eyes were the prettiest part about her, but of course
there was a deeper meaning behind them to him. That was under normal...show more content...

"I think that was the best I had ever looked while in high school. Anyways, I was all ready to go,
and I left my room, and I saw my parents standing in the living room all dressed up. I remember
what they were both wearing. My dad had khakis and a green and white striped shirt on, and my

10. Why I Deserve This Scholarship
I should be chosen for this scholarship because I am a positive, hard working student who is very
involved in my school and my community, and has future goals. I believe that I hold all those
characteristics, plus many more.
School is very important to me. I show this by working hard in my classes and being involved in
extracurricular activities. I have received all A's throughout my high school years and my teachers
can always depend on me. At school I am a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletics, Math Club,
Smith Cotton United Foreign Language Club, Key Club, Show Choir, National Honor Society, and
the Tennis team. I enjoy activities where I can learn and have fun at the same time.
School to me though is not just about getting the good grades, it is also about reaching out and
helping other students. Through the activities that I am involved in, I try to be a leader, but not
in the normal ways that one might think of. I am a leader by being nice to others, praising them
when they are doing something well, and by showing the right example. People will respect and
look up to you if you show them love and compassion. To me that is what a leader is all about. Not
only do I work hard at school to get good grades and to be a leader, but I also work hard out of
school. For the past three years I have been working for the Wheeler and Woolery families. During
my time with these families, I have babysat Ms. Woolery's two children, worked at the Pork Place

11. Essay on Child Abuse and Neglect
Child abuse consists of any act or failure to act that endangers a child's physical or emotional
health and development. A person caring for a child is abusive if he or she fails to nurture the
child, physically injures the child, or relates sexually to the child (Robins). Child abuse is broken
down into four major categories: physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect. Aside
from the abuse itself, the cost of the tragic events costs the United States billions of dollars each
year. Every day, approximately 4 children in the United States die resulting from child abuse and the
majority are under 5–years–old (Fromm). There are many organizations that promote preventative
measures in reducing child abuse. If nothing is done,...show more content...
The total mentioned above estimates the direct and indirect costs. Direct costs are associated with
the immediate needs of abused or neglected children. Examples are, hospitalization, chronic health
problems, child welfare system, law enforcement, and the judicial system. Indirect costs are those
costs associated with the long–term and/or secondary effects of child abuse and neglect (Fromm).
Examples are, special education, mental health and health care, juvenile delinquency, lost
productivity to society, and adult criminality. Those children who are abused as a child tend to
become more susceptible to a wide range of medical, emotional, psychological and behavioral
disorders (Fromm). In 2012, an estimated 1,642 children died due to child abuse and neglect,
which is 4.5 children every day (Fromm). Approximately 4 out of every 5 are under 5–years–old and
children under 1 account for 2 out of 5 of all fatalities. Children under 5 are more likely to die from
child abuse due to lack of ability to cope with abuse. Children's bodies are more fragile and it is
easier for an individual to physically harm a small child rather than older children who can
somewhat fight back. A tragic result from child abuse can be a long–term condition that needs
24–hour care. Children who are victims of shaken baby syndrome need one on one care and lack
basic knowledge to care for themselves. Those children who were emotionally abused tend to be at
higher risk of mental disorders and

12. Essay on Pride
Pride
The word pride in itself isn't an important word but it's meaning implies many things. There are
several different definitions for pride. Pride can be referred to as a type of plant, a form of body
ornamentation, or even a group of lions. The most commonly used definition of pride is being
proud, or having a feeling of great accomplishment and feeling self–satisfaction. The word pride both
positive and negative meanings that can be seen throughout history.
In 1297AD, pride was described as "A consciousness or feeling of what is befitting or due to
oneself or one's position, which prevents a person from doing what he considers to be beneath him
or unworthy of him; esp. as a good quality,...show more content...
Pride was believed to be "a high or overweening opinion of one's own qualities, attainments, or
estate, which gives rise to a feeling and attitude of superiority over and contempt for others" (OED
2). This usage of the word pride gives it a negative cynical connotation, describing people as vain,
arrogant or belittling other people. An example of this could be when someone famous thanks "all
the little people" as seen as in movies and TV as a joke. They are suggesting that they are bigger or
greater than others. Pride is not a negative trait to have if it doesn't get the best of you.
When instilled in the young, pride is a building block of a healthy self–esteem. This is important and
necessary to promote a positive self–worth. A child needs to hear that he or she has done something
well. Praise will reinforce positive characteristics and does not focus on limitations as it builds
pride. He or she should be proud of what they have worked for. Winning a competition is not as
important as doing one's best. When someone does their best they try and strive to do even better
just winning sets limits. Without a healthy self–worth, the child feels inferior and shame. When a
child feels proud of their accomplishments, they feel good about themself. This will encourage the
child to continue to perform at his best. Praise for accomplishments fosters pride. Praise can come
from a parent, friend, teacher, or even one self. It is also important to teach the child to

I am certain that because of my strengths, I am good at what I do however; I do have weaknesses

Currently I am in a position in which I do not possess the title of management. As a result, I
basically feel that I do not have to show leadership or take initiative to take on the responsibilities
of a manager when in reality, I am not. One of my weaknesses at home is time management. This
is a weakness that I have had to struggle with since my daughter was born. It is hard for me to try
to juggle being a full time single parent, working a full time job and attending school full time. I
always feel that there is never enough time to accomplish my tasks whether it is household
chores, work related or assignments for school. Most importantly I have to make sure that I am

important. I would have to say that Presentation Skills would be one of my personal weaknesses
in the Learning team. It is difficult for me at times to stand up in front of a room full of people

Type I error is the rejection of the null hypothesis when the null hypothesis is actually true.
Therefore, a Type I error is a false positive and it indicates that results are significant when they are
not. For example, if a researcher states that the amount of antidepressants taken by individuals will

become reliant on the medication and have expectations of the antidepressant lowering their
likelihood of committing suicide. Unfortunately, this Type I error could potentially increase suicide.

is extremely satisfying. Your current situation and your contentment with it are also very important,
and having goals and milestones to work toward in the future keeps you motivated and keeps life
interesting and challenging.
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or
the amount of wealth or power or number of promotions you've accumulated. I find that the older I
grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most
successful. Rich, poor or in between, they've tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination.
They took that trip when they were 25 even though they really couldn't afford it, they ordered the
$55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would
enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a start–up company,
moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that most people only dream about. If they managed
to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is
practiced, things won't spin out of control.
Bottom line rules for a successful life:
Always try new things.
Listen twice as much as you talk.
Travel as much as you can comfortably afford.
Faith and family always come first –
