INTRODUCTION- iCloud is a cloud storage
and cloud computing service from Apple Inc.
launched on October 12, 2011. As of July 2013
[update], the service has 320 million users
The service allows users to store data such as
music and iOS applications on remote computer
servers for download to multiple devices such as
iOS-based devices running iOS 5 or later, and
personal computers running OS X 10.7.2
"Lion" or later, or Microsoft
Windows (Windows Vista service pack 2 or
later).
HISTORY- iCloud is the latest branding of
Apple's cloud computing services. It has
previously been branded as iTools in
2000, Mac in 2002, and MobileMe in 2008
ICloud was announced on June 6, 2011, at
the 2011 Apple Worldwide Developers
Conference (WWDC). Apple announced that
MobileMe would be discontinued after June
30, 2012, with anyone who had an account
before the unveiling of iCloud having their
MobileMe service extended to that date, free
of charge

BACK UP AND RESTORE-ICloud allows
users to back up the settings and data on iOS
devices running iOS 5 or later. Data backed up
includes photos and videos in the Camera Roll,
device settings, app data, messages (iMessage,
SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and Visual
Voicemails. Backups occur daily when the
device is locked and connected to Wi-Fi and a
power source. In case of a malfunction of any
Apple device, during the restoration process,
iCloud offers to restore all data along with App
data only if the device was synced to iCloud and
backed up

2. BACK TO MY MAC-Back to My Mac, also
previously part of MobileMe, is now part of
iCloud. As before, this service allows users to
log in remotely to other computers that have
Back to My Mac enabled and are configured
with the same Apple ID
Email, Contacts, and Calendars- iCloud
stores all the stuff you can’t live without your
calendars, contacts and email and keeps it up to
date across all your devices. Say you delete an
email, add a calendar event or update a contact.
ICloud makes all your changes everywhere.
Same with your notes and reminders
FIND MY IPHONE- Losing your iPhone
feels lousy. Thankfully, iCloud can help you get
it back. But if it looks like that’s not going to
happen, new Find My iPhone features in iOS 7
make it harder for anyone who’s not you to use
or sell your device. Now turning off Find My
iPhone or erasing your device requires your
Apple ID and password. Find my iPhone can
also continue to display a custom message, even
after your device is erased. And your Apple ID
and password are required before anyone can
reactivate it
SAFARI- iCloud keeps the tabs you have open
in Safari up to date on your iPad, iPhone, iPod
touch and Mac. So you can go from one device
to the next and pick up browsing wherever you
left off. Safari also saves web pages not just
links in your Reading List, so you can catch up
on any device, even when you’re not connected
to the Internet. And now iCloud keeps
bookmarks in sync between Safari on your iOS
devices and your Mac, as well as Internet
Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome on your PC
KEYCHAIN- So many websites require you to
sign in these days, it can be hard to remember
your account information. Now iCloud can keep
track of your account names, passwords and
credit card numbers for you “YOUR
PASSWORDS STORED, ENCRYPTED
AUTOMATICALLY RE-ENTERED”
PHOTO SHARING-When you create a shared
photo stream, it’s easy to show only the photos
and videos you want to just the people you want
to see them. Invite your friends and family and
they can add their own photos, videos and
comments as well. And everything is kept up to
date on everyone’s devices automatically.

4. SET LIMITS- Parents get more control, while
kids feel like they have more freedom. It’s not a
parenting miracle, it’s Family Sharing. Enjoy the
convenience of paying for family purchases with
a single credit card. Enable “Ask to Buy” to
require children to get permission before making
iTunes, iBooks and App Store purchases. You
can even create Apple IDs for children under 13
years old so they can participate too

DISADVANTAGEOUS- Firstly, one of the
biggest concerns about iCloud is security and
privacy. Users might not be comfortable to
upload their data to a third party service
Secondly, if you upload any purchased Cd songs
and tracks via iTunes then they would not be
send to iCloud and hence to any other device. So
all you have to do is pay $25 yearly matching up
your tracks and it incurred additional cost.
Lastly, iCloud service is compatible only with
IOS devices and has widespread accessibility
issues

CONCLUSION-iCloud usage is increasing
ultimately year by year but still some of the
features are missing in updated iCloud version
of IOS 7 .The main familiar issues are Privacy,
music sharing, device compatibility. Hope they
may fix these issues and release IOS8 on coming
autumn
