This tutorial aims to teach facilitators how to effectively lead online courses by highlighting important differences between online and in-person facilitation with a focus on communication, describing how to monitor participation and communicate with students before, during, and after a course to improve retention and student satisfaction, and explaining how to manage and post to discussion forums. The tutorial objectives are to help facilitators describe key differences in online vs in-person teaching, monitor participation, and communicate with students at various stages of a course.
