  • 2. How Are You Perceived? • On the internet and social media? NOTE: Before you meet an employer in person, your name has been searched online • In resumes, C.V.’s and cover letters? • At a job interview? • In networking situations, such as Job Fairs?
  • 4. Start By Googling Your Name • What hits do you get? • Are they you or someone else? • Are they at the top of the list or hidden below? • Look up: “Ten Tips to the Top of Google Search Engine”
  • 5. Create a Professional Social Media Image • Everyone should have a LinkedIn account • Professionalize your image on: -Facebook -Twitter -YouTube -Pinterest -Blogs -etc.
  • 7. Resumes • Education/Degree • GPA and academic honors • Internships and career targeted experience • Community service • Leadership • Part-time jobs • Academic coursework/projects
  • 8. C.V. (Curriculum Vitae) • Similar to resume, but emphasis on: ♦ Academics ♦ Research ♦ Professional seminars ♦ Publications and articles ♦ Professional affiliations ♦ Presentations • Used to apply to graduate, professional schools, and to apply for prestigious fellowships

Required Skills/Traits • Not just about your job “duties” • Make a list of tasks using action verbs • Make a list of accomplishments • What special traits are required? • Traits of everyone working in ASC: initiative, leadership, organized, time manager, stress manager, follows written/oral instructions, applies areas of expertise in practical manner, advisor/counselor, motivator, teaching ability, communication skills, problem-solver….and many more

Resume Entries – SI Leader• Facilitate highly organized study group sessions • Plan and develop study group content • Provide supplemental instruction to college students • Collaborate with faculty on effective strategies • Market program to students • Monitor attendance and distribute surveys • Maintain high level of professionalism and serve as leadership role models

Resume Entries – PAC • Mentor first generation migrant students • Facilitate students’ academic success and transition to college • Schedule and prepare mentee meetings • Model effective learning behaviors to mentees • Maintain program documentation and records • Monitor absences and concerns and make appropriate referrals
