Stayner Collegiate Institute Announcements - September 28, 2016
1. This is for any previous music students or students
taking music next semester. There is an
opportunity to play Christmas Carols at a seniors'
home in Barrie. They are giving us plenty of time
to put a small group together. If you are interested
please come and see Mr. Pauze at the very
beginning of lunch today in Room 212 for details.
2. Last night the lady Spartans began their
basketball season. The Seniors started slow
but built momentum throughout the game,
defeating Romeo Dallaire by a score of 27-
17. Kaylin Bourne lead all scorers with 11
points. Sonya Papail added 6 points, with 10
rebounds and 5 steals. Mackenzie Wilson
had a big second half with 5 points and 4
steals. Kristen Scott contributed with a 3
point shot and 5 steals. All players played
tough defence. Great start!
3. Attention Spartans…
As the Fall sports season begins, we are
looking for students to help out at our home
games to assist with scorekeeping for
volleyball and basketball games. In addition
to receiving volunteer hours for your time,
you will also earn athletic credit points which
go towards earning medals and trophies at
the year end athletic assembly. Please see
Mr. French or Ms. Baldry for more details.
5. The FOODIES info meeting is TODAY in room 118 at
the start of lunch. Come and find out what
FOODIES is all about. It's a brand new club that
promises to fill your head with new cooking
techniques and your tummy with good eats!

6. Library Live
The first Library Live of the year is
coming. If you can sing, play an
instrument, tell a good joke,
perform a magic trick, or any
other form of entertainment,
then this is the place for you to be
next Friday after the Terry Fox
walk.

7. Are you interested in languages? Travel? Do you want
to know more than just what you can look up on
Google? Come see Madame McPherson ANYTIME...
she has some info on CEFR exchanges both 2 month
and 3 month options, as well as, some summer
opportunities to do an exchange to either France,
Spain, or Italy for the 2017-2018 school year. Carpe
Diem... Seize the day and come speak with Madame to
find out some more info and collect an application
form!
8. On September 30th, the students at SCI will join up with
students from Byng and Clearview Meadows to take part in
a Terry Fox Event in support of cancer research. Our goal is
to raise $5000, and to meet this target, we are asking every
student to raise at least $15. Students in the Rec and
Fitness Leadership class will be making visits to period two
classes tomorrow with more details about the event. Let’s
do our part as Spartans to help make cancer a thing of the
past.
