6. • The film was produced by Fox 2000 Pictures, Regency Enterprises and Sunswept
Entertainment.
• Fox 2000 Pictures is a big American Production Company. The company was founded
on May 31, 1935.
• They have many websites, the main site is www.fox.com
• Regency Enterprises makes and distributes films. It was founded
by Arnon Milchan in 1991. It is partnered with Fox. It has an official
website http://www.newregency.com/
• Marley and Me was filmed from March 2008 – June 2008.
• The budget was 60 million dollars (estimated).
• The implications of the production values is that the dog would
have to behave in order to get the correct shot, this means that they
may have to shoot it more than once or even they may not get the shot
they want.
• It was Co-financed by New Regency Enterprises and Fox.

13. As you can see Marley and Me
Opening Weekend
was shown in a lot of screens
$36,367,586 (USA) (28 December 2008) (3,480
in the USA on it’s opening
Screens)
weekend. Also the UK had a
£4,414,169 (UK) (15 March 2009) (467 Screens)
massive amount of screens as
BRL 2,604,880 (Brazil) (28 December 2008)
well but not as much as the
(182 Screens)
USA. I would say that the UK
PHP 6,010,923 (Philippines) (8 February 2009)
and the USA were the main
(34 Screens)
places for release because they
$30,516 (Estonia) (15 March 2009) (4 Screens)
expected it to be very popular
in these countries. I would say
by looking at these figures
Marley and Me was given a
blanket release.
This is showing the number of screens on the opening
weekend from the highest to the lowest.

15. Film 4 gave the film 4.5 out of 5 stars, surprisingly the review seems to steer towards the
negative side than the positive. They say that the film is ‘exceedingly dull’. The word ‘dull’ is then
repeated in the same paragraph But it is also ‘unavoidably appealing’ as well as becoming a fond
favourite. Lastly they say that if the film is given time, it shows that there is much more to this than
just a cute dog.
Empire gave the film 2 out of 5 stars. They said that assuming that it is a comedy, you spend at least
an hour wondering when it’s going to get funny. They also feel that the naughty dog is the most
believable thing. Overall they said that the film is too talky, but it will without doubt prove as critic
proof to dog lovers and the stars fans as it did in the US.
The Telegraph gave the film 3 out of 5 stars. They said that it is a ‘lightweight but enjoyable comedy’.
They felt that the voiceover of Owen Wilson was a really bad idea. Lastly they felt that the film is
easily watchable and that it is nice to see the sight of middle-class families eating well and playing
together. It is also great to be able to look adoringly at Marley.
The Guardian gave the film 1 out of 5 stars. They thought that Jennifer Aniston playing Grogan’s wife,
competing with Marley for her husband's affection with what seems to them is a terrible lack of
success. The grim ‘gooey yuckiness’ and fatuous (unreal) stereotyping in this weepy feel bad comedy
gave the film critics ‘equivalent of a boiling hot nose.’
