and suggestion
 One

of the major issues.
 Countries that are facing these problems are:
-Philippines,
-Romania,
-Sri Lanka,
-etc
 Better

job opportunities and higher pay
overseas have urged many to work abroad
and leave their families for years

 The

situation is far from normal and is morelikely to cause a huge impact on the mental
and emotional well-being of the children

 The

increasing amount of absentee parents
becomes more alarming because without
them, discipline is not enforced at home.
 Tens

of thousands of Romanian children are
growing up parentless because their mothers
and fathers are working abroad
 According to the Romanian ministry of
labour:
1. more than 80,000 families in Romania in
which both parents are working abroad
while their child or children stay at home,
2. about 35,000 more families in which one parent is overseas.
Reasons for working abroad:
 Working for great multinational companies creates
a good career prospective.
 Encountering new cultures, other values and norms.
 New surroundings, meeting international people,
making new friends and building up a new social
life.
 Improving your language skills.
 Migration

has contradictory effects on the
school attendance and educational
performance of these children
 Many researchers reported that the loss of
parental attention and supervision may lead
to poorer school
performance and increased drop-out rates
 feeling

obliged to perform household duties
 take care of younger siblings
 less energy for school activities
 detrimental impact on their children’s
health, education, emotional stability and
behavioral attitudes
 loss of appetite, weight loss, and speech
impairment
In the older age groups problems such as:
 stealing,
 smoking,
 alcoholism,
 drug addiction
Were observed.
Problem :


Thousands of Romanian children are growing up
parentless because their mothers and fathers are
working abroad. Job opportunity takes these parents
overseas leaving their children without affection care
and support.


Parents can start a business in own country using
money they have earned.
- not all parents can have the ability to start their own business.



Parents returning home every year.
- returning home each year will cost a lot.
 Parents

should be satisfied with their
earning and return back home.
- parents are not feeling satisfied because they
want to provide a luxuries life for their children.

 Bringing

their children along with them to

abroad.
- raising children in abroad countries would cost
higher.
 Parents

communicating via video call

- video call would not cost much and would make
the children feel as if they are closer to their
parents.
Best Solution :
Parents should communicate via video call everyday so
that children could share everything that’s happening in
their life. It is the best way to make the children feel
affectionate and love towards them.
 Identifying

gaps and scaling up good
practices and creativity.
 The risks and costs of temporary labor
migration to left-behind families are
traditionally viewed as the concern and
responsibility of origin countries.
 most OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries will
continue to provide employment
opportunities
 The

government and other non-government
institutions should have developed policies,
programs and services to avoid some of these
risks and costs.
 Cooperation between origin and destination
countries is important to better promote the
protection of migrant workers
