2. My group and I have carefully
selected a genre for our opening
sequence task, the genre we
have chosen is drama.
Drama film is a genre that focuses on
the emotional and relational
development of realistic characters.
Dramatic themes are taken from
intense, real life issues. Drama film
aims to tell an honest story of human
struggles.
3. Codes and Conventions:
-A drama film has to have peaks and troths in the storyline
-The audience must be able to relate to the characters
-At the end of the film there must be a realisation
-The relationship between the main character should be inevitable
between themselves and the other characters
- The storyline should be realistic and they should be going through
some form of journey, and usually a dram film ends in a happy ever
after
4. A drama film is structured to keep
the audiences attention, and make
them become emotionally
attached to the action. To ensure
this happens they create a climax
and anti-climax, this keeps the
audience engaged and interested.
As drama films base their films on
real life issues the target audience
has to be old enough to relate to
the character. Therefore the target
market for a drama film is aimed at
young adults.
