3.

What is the concept of the e - school? The basic components?

4.

What are the areas of employment of e-learning in basic education?

5.

What is the proposed plan visualization application of e-learning in basic
education in the Sultanate of Oman?
 E-learning concept:
E-learning is mostly associated with activities involving
computers and interactive networks simultaneously. The
computer does not need to be the central element of the
activity or provide learning content. However, the computer
and the network must hold a significant involvement in the
learning activity.
E-learning characteristics
:Watch
The advantages of E-learning
 E-learning characteristics:
 Class work can be scheduled around work and family
 Reduces travel time and travel costs for off-campus students
 Students may have the option to select learning materials that
meets their level of knowledge and interest
 Students can study anywhere they have access to a computer and
Internet connection
 Flexibility to join discussions in the bulletin board threaded
discussion areas at any hour, or visit with classmates and
instructors remotely in chat rooms.
 eLearning can accommodate different learning styles and
facilitate learning through a variety of activities
 Develops knowledge of the Internet and computers skills that
will help learners throughout their lives and careers
 Successfully completing online or computer-based courses
builds self-knowledge and self-confidence and encourages
students to take responsibility for their learning
 Applied e-learning in basic education:
The e-learning, or electronic learning, field creates a
dynamic environment that stimulates learners
through self-directed training.
 Why we need to apply e-learning in basic education?
 Dimension administrative:
1. School management program that includes the data of
students and teachers.
2. Program school schedule.
3. School site on the Internet, which includes the
definition in school and events, in addition to e-mail to
the school.
 Educational dimension:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

E-learning lessons.
Electronic tests.
CD-Rom.
Web sites associated with the school.
Site decision which includes tutorials and a variety of
activities in addition to e-mail the teacher.
E-learning Framework
 The definition of E-School:
 E-school is the school that used technologies in the educational process
and it has website includes online communication tools such as:
educational web pages, email, discussion groups, video presentations and
published books on the Internet.
 The component of E-School:
 School’s internal network:
 Is a local area network (Intranet) containing computers and school
server, which controls the communications between computers in
the network.

 Electronic Classrooms:
 Classrooms are prepared with computers and multimedia
presentation, and this environment is used to activate the electronic
learning process
 Teacher's computer, a computer for each student, educational
materials, multi-media system, to save and share and transfer files.
 The different between Electronic Classrooms and Online
classroom?
 Electronic Classrooms: Face to face classrooms + technologies
 Online classroom: virtual classroom
Model of using
internet in teaching

Model of using computer
in teaching and learning:

E-learning depend on using of computer and internet in providing
e-environment based on interactivity and instructional
administration service.
It contains many methods, and these methods are differentiating in
term of the degree of participation of students, teacher, and computer
in the controlling of learning and teaching process.
Such styles of the Computer assisted instruction are:
1.Tutorial
2.Drill and practice
3.Instructional Games
4.Simulation
Computer uses multimedia factors such as text, sound, and motion
to provide adequate and consequently explain for subjects based
on individualization. The learner takes enough time on reading the
information and answering the questions. The learner is the only
controller of the pace of information display in the screen.

3. Dependent on the internet level: in this level mostly apply
teaching and learning process through the internet, and traditional
learning (face-to-face) occurs only when students have problems and
need helps from teacher.
4. Fully online level: in this level replacing traditional learning
(face-to-face) to the internet-based learning or distance learning,
where putting the entire curriculum and its activities online.
The best level is the supplemental level for the teaching and learning in the
basic education, where it combine between the features of the traditional
learning and the internet-based learning.
 It based on use of modern technologies such as computers and
the Internet in the educational process and management.
 Such as E- classroom (at least) connected to the Internet for
each subject, and educational site on the internet for each
teacher, in addition the general site for the school, with the use
of school administration software, school schedule and
program in school administration.
1. Provide better education and more effective teaching
methods.
2. Achieve communication between parents and teachers of
mathematics.
3. Multiple sources of information.
4. Training on positive interaction with developments in

Teaching in e-learning includes:
Teaching using a computer connected to the projector.
Teaching using the Internet.
Self-learning.
Collaborative learning.
Learning that based on projects that require to collect the
information from the Internet.
7. Follow-up project implementation and evaluation.
1. Lack of clarity of the concept of e-learning methods and
techniques for some Staff in the Education
2. Requires good infrastructure hardware and software for
implementing of e-learning, which require huge capital in the
first stage.
3. Some teachers' lack of awareness of the importance of elearning, and experience in the use of this system.
4. Lack of Arabic software that serves the local curriculum.
1. Provide good infrastructure of hardware and software which is
necessary for e-learning in basic education.
2. Training teachers to use e-learning strategies in teaching.
3. integration between the teaching of various subjects and the World
Wide Web sites.
