2. I’d like to introduce myself.
My name is Kate. I live in
Perm. I’m a student of the
9th form of school 44. I like
music very much. One of
my favourite groups is the
«Beatles».When I listen to
their music it makes me
think about harmony,
beauty and love in my life.
3.
4. I’d like to tell you
about the Beatles
because the impact of
the Beatles is simply
incalculable. As
musicians, they
proved that rock and
roll could embrace a
limitless variety of
harmonies, structures
and sounds; they
inaugurated the era of
self-contained bands,
and forever
centralized pop
music.
8. As a unit, they
were a musically
synergistic
combination: Paul
McCartney’s
melodic bass
lines, Ringo Starr
’slaphappy no-
rolls drumming,
George Harrison’s
rocabilly-style
guitar leads, John
Lennon’s assertive
rhythm guitar –
and their four
fervent voices.
9. Per Aspera Ad Astra
Made up of John Lennon,
Paul McCartney, George
Harrison and Ringo Starr,
the Beatles were just
ordinary lads from
Liverpool. And they didn’t
become famous overnight,
as many people think.
They worked hard to
become successful.
The group become nationally famous in England in October
1962, when their first single, Love Me Do, entered the Hit
Parade at number 27.
10. The Beatle’s concerts
were a great success in
all countries: Germany,
France, the USA, etc.
The release of «I want to hold your
hand» in 1964 marked the beginning
of the phenomenon known as
«Beatlemania» in the United States.
11. During the sixties, it seemed
that the Beatles were always in
the new headlines. They made
successful records and
interesting films.
The first film, the innovative «A
Hard Day's night» (1964), was
received enthusiastically by a wide
audience that included many who
had never before listened to rock
music.
12. In the early 1970s, the
Beatles finally decided to
break up. Lennon became
a solo performer, wrote a
book and took part in
many different activities.
McCartney formed a new
pop group called «Wings».
George Harrison was
rarely seen, but spent time
raising money for charity.
Ringo Starr began a
surprisingly successful
career as a film star. They
were seen together less
and less often.
13. Although many fans hoped there would be a reunion, this
became impossible with the tragic murder of John Lennon in
New York in 1980.
14. If you ask someone in
England, «What’s the
greatest pop album of
all times?», the answer
will almost certainly be:
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely
Hearts Club Band.
When it was released in June 1967, it was an instant hit., with
both the public and the critics. It spent 23 weeks at the top of the
album charts!
15. Amazing facts:
• There are more than
70 famous people
on the cover of Sgt.
Pepper’s Lonely
Hearts Club Band
album.
• The Beatles used as
many as 49
instruments while
recording the
album
• Paul McCartney
wrote the song
When I’m Sixty-
Four when he was
sixteen years old
16. I listen to the
Beatles songs every «All my loving»
day. I decided to
learn to play the
guitar. I can play
and sing some of
the Beatles songs.
17. I completely agree with Victoriya
Bryulo:
«Why I do love the Beatles?»–
- For John Lennon’s independence,
- Paul McCartney’s brightness,
- George Harrison’s purposefulness,
- Ringo Starr’s ingenuousness!
Their music is worth playing and
singing
FOREVER!
