In this context, SAP introduced its new flagship some time ago: SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC). This will replace Lumira Designer and enable both power users and business users to create dashboards. SAP Analytics Cloud is currently being enhanced with new functions in fairly rapid cycles and is already competing with Lumira Designer in the current version, even though SAC does not yet offer the full functionality of Lumira. But where exactly are the differences between the two solutions? Which tool is the best for you to meet your dashboard requirements?

SAP Analytics Cloud. Both Analytic and Planning
models generate an account type model.
• SAP Cloud Platform/SAP S4/HANACloud
• All data stays within the SAP Cloud Platform or SAP
S4/HANA Cloud. The data is not replicated to SAP
Analytics Cloud. Modelling and model security is
managed on the source system. Data connection
between systems is secured within SAP Cloud Platform.
Lumira 2.x

unique data source is required and the requireddriver
may not be found in SAP Lumira Discovery. The
workaround for that would be to use the SDK
component to establish this connection if it has an
open API/JDBC connector
• New features development will be minimal in Discovery from
2019.
• Lumira 2.x support is continued till 2024.
