Introduction
 The world today is greatly influenced by technological; advancement
and internet.
 Learning and classroom experience among other things has been
improved through technology and internet advancement.
 This presentation will give my opinion on how different technologies
can be used in schools. The opinions will be supported by pictures,
video clips and links to some websites which support the opinions
given herein.
 It will look at how Blogging, MS word and excel, power point,
brainshark, video production, web quest, web 2.0 tools, audio and visual
presentations, the internet, and classroom websites can be used in
schools.
 A summary description about each of the technologies will be given
together with two ideas or opinions on how it can be used to advance
learning or classroom experience in schools.
Blogging
 Class blogs have become common tools in learning.
 Blogs can be used by teachers to post daily assignments,
tasks, continuous assessment tests and resources for work
that will be covered in class (Thompson 144).
 Blogs can also be used by school administrators to update
parents and students about what happens in school when
absence
 Teachers can also use blogs to provide revision materials for
students.
 Students can also use blogs to post their completed tasks,
assignments and CATs.
Cont, Example of a blog page
Ms Word and Ms excel
 Ms word is the most common word processing program used in
schools and offices.
 It can be used in schools by students to complete assignments
and CATs.
 Teachers can also use Ms word to write word document
containing instructions and directions of what will be
covered in class, assignments and course tasks (Thompson
22).
 Ms word can also be used to write articles and resources for
students, teacher and parents.
 Ms excel can be used by students to complete projects and
other math and business related assignments and projects.
PowerPoint
 PowerPoint is a useful tool for presentation by teachers
and students.
 It can be used by teachers to get their points across to
students better and, thus help students learn better.
 PowerPoint can also be used by students to present their
assignments and projects to teachers.
 A clip showing PowerPoint presentation being used in
high school

redirect=1
brainshark
 Brainshark can also be used to support e-learning and students management by
teachers in high school.
 In addition, teachers can use brainshark to turn presentation into YouTube videos
for students to view and understand the practical concepts of course work.
 Brainshark provides an option to record voice narration for future retrieval.
Therefore, students can use it to record teaching sessions and listen to them later
when revising or completing assign
Brainshark is used to provide web-based
applications through special software services.
It can be used in schools by students and
teachers to create, share and track online video
presentations about class work, resources,
assignment and practical lessons. Through
brainshark online video presentations can be
viewed at any time, on computers,
smartphones and tablet computers by students
while in school or at home.
web 2.0 tools
 There various types of web 2.0 tools being developed everyday and
can be used to enhance learning and classroom experience in
schools.
 Some of these tools were not originally made for classroom but can
be used as effective learning tools for today's technology geared
students and teachers (Means, Penuel, and Padilla 109).
 These tools can be used by teachers to ensure productive learning
experience in classroom by increasing student participation and
involvement.
 These tools empower, motivate, engage students in a differentiated
learning experience that is more student focused compared to
traditional learning and thus can be used in schools.
 Some of the web 2.0 tools include wordpress.org, quizelet, Joomla,
Go!animate. There are over 100 web 2.0 tools that can be used to
improve learning (Means, Penuel, and Padilla 109).
Cont, web 2.0 tools
Audio and visual presentations
 Contemporary learning curriculums have been greatly advanced by
video and audio tapes in classroom.
 They range from recording students and teachers presentation in
class for future use or for elaboration.
 Producing, watching or listening to audio and video clips is exciting
and thus students also have the opportunity to apply artistic and
dramatic skills to their academic work (Means, Penuel, and Padilla
109).
 Video and audio presentation can be used in the school classroom to
enhance understanding a complex project.
 Audio and visual presentations can be used by students to compare
their imagination and the actual projects when they finally listen or
watch the video or audio presentations respectively.
The internet
 Technology and internet advancement have impacted education positively. Despite
the critiques of internet in schools, internet is a convenient, faster and reliable source
of information for students and teachers.
 Students and teachers can use the internet to search for resources for course work
and revisions without physically going to library thus saving more time and being
able to access unlimited materials and resources online (McLeod and Lehmann 201
).
 Students can access materials when they are absent from school for one reason
or another and thus be able to catch up with their friend in school.
 Internet and social media platform can enable students to share with their
friends in different places. When students are absent from school, they can
learn what was taught in their absence through class Facebook pages among
others.
video production
 Video production is becoming one of the most technologies
that broaden the scope of education systems in schools among
other institutions of higher learning (McLeod and Lehmann
201).
 Teachers can use video production to enable learners integrate
print, oral and digital learning into a wholesome curriculum
that embraces theory and practical learning.
 Videos improve students learning, motivation, engagement and
participation in classroom.
 a video clip showing how video production has been
incorporated in high school learning
:https://www.teachingchannel.org/videos/mentoring-for-
new-teachers
classroom website
 Website continue to shape life in the contemporary society. Schools should learn the
the importance of investing in classroom websites because of the opportunity they
provide in enhancing learning.
 Schools can create different websites whereby both teachers and students can post
relevant materials for learning and revision as well as for posting general
knowledge.
 Schools can create a website for vocabulary where students can access all types of
vocabularies useful in the learning activities.
 Teachers and students can create different websites for different subject where
students can post difficult or challenging areas and teacher can help with solutions.
 Through classroom websites students can also share a lot of information with each
other.
Webquest
 Web Quests are activities based on a self-contained set of online
resources that follow a predictable format (Wolfe, 458)
 They can be tailored to support any personalized content for any
class, grade or level.
 They allow exploration with web resources and thus teachers in
schools can use them to help students transform newly acquired
knowledge or concepts into more sophisticated and deep
understanding.
 Web quests can be used in schools to help students solve problems,
think about issues, search for relevant information, and summarize
findings. Thus web quests boost understanding and improve learning.
 With web quests teachers in schools can design well structured
information, guidelines on how to solve problems in class work.
Thus students are not left to wander from sight to sight looking for
information and materials (Wolfe, 45).
