To calculate the mean, you need to add up the total of a set
of data (in this case, the total number of goals scored) and
then divide by how many numbers there are (in this case
there are 5 teams, so there are 5 numbers)

To calculate the mean, you need to add up the total of a set
of data (in this case, the total number of goals scored) and
then divide by how many numbers there are (in this case
there are 5 teams, so there are 5 numbers)
Total number of goals scored = 34 + 24 + 33 + 27 + 24
= 142

To calculate the mean, you need to add up the total of a set
of data (in this case, the total number of goals scored) and
then divide by how many numbers there are (in this case
there are 5 teams, so there are 5 numbers)
Total number of goals scored = 34 + 24 + 33 + 27 + 24
= 142
Mean = 142 ÷ 5
= 28.4

The median is the middle value. To work it out, you must first put all
the numbers, in this case the number of goals scored, in order:
24, 24, 27, 33 34
Then look for the middle value. So, in this case the median = 27
