The 16+ service provides services for young people looked after by the local authority and leaving care to make sure that they are properly supported, both practically and emotional.The team work with young people aged over 16, living in and leaving care, and continue to support them until they are 21, or 24 if they are in education.

Activity is delivered in a number of ways:1) through a structured monthly programme that students and staff can book into or on request from faculty staff who are looking for particular support for their subject specialism – would like this to become more student driven rather than staff thinking they have to bring a whole group.2) On request - Faculty staff can ask us for employer or careers team support to support and enrich the delivery of their programmes, some examples are highlighted on the slide.Curriculum has been influenced by employers and re-configured to ensure greater emphasis is placed upon delivery in context of employment with development of work-related personal skills and attributes delivered within courses, tutorial and enrichment (additionality). Specific employability related skills such as team-working, problem-solving and expectation of certain behaviours should be embedded at every opportunity.This is where you can help….e.g. if a student is late or missing classes relate this to how it would affect their employment To be credible with students our staff also need to be as up to date as possible with the subject matter and technologies they are using and also benefit from a range of professional development opportunities arranged through theworkspace.
