Going from a Git local repository to a published web site on Azure passing through GitHUb and Visual Studio

2. Install Git

3. A wonderful console command

4. A not so great UI (an invitation to use the
console)

5. git init

6. Add and commit

7. Create a new web site on the Azure portal

8. Set up deployment from source control

9. The Git Archive on Azure is ready

10. The push on Azure
 git remote add azure https://theaddressgivenbyazure.azurewebsites.net
 git push azure master

11. The push was alright!

12. Azure notification

13. Example: download Bootstrap code

14. Copy Bootstrap archive on our repository
and push again
 git add css/*
 git add fonts/*
 git add js/*
 git commit –m «Adding bootstrap libraries»
 git push azure master

15. Push Again on Azure

17. The result…

18. Let’s use Github (create a repository)

19. Clone the Github repository on our hard drive

20. Copy all the files created in our previous
example and push them on Github

21. Everything is on GitHub now

22. Go Back to Azure and create a new site

23. GitHub asks for a confirm…

24. Azure asks for the repository to clone

25. Azure extracts the code from GitHub

26. Azure notifies everything is ok

27. The Magic…
 Make a change in a file belonging to your local repository
 Push it to Github
 The modification will be automatically pushed to Azure

28. Visual Studio: clone the code

29. Visual Studio: Push the modifications

30. Everything is synchronized
