Abhraka is said to be Gauriteja and Param amrut in rasa texts. its bhasma is red in colour. Rasa Tarangani kara has mentioned its uses along with Sehpana and anupana in various diseases. This presentation highlights the use of Abhraka bhasma in various disorders commonly faced by clinicians
1. CLINICAL USE OF ABHRAKA BHASMA

2. PROPERTIES OF ABHRAKA BHASMA
TASTE- madhura (sweet)
QUALITY- unctuous
POTENCY- sheeta (cold)
KARMA- netrya, balya, medhya, stanya janana,
deepana, cures all major diseases of body,
aphrodisiac.
3. USE OF ABHRAKA BHASMA
Fever- along with equal of Rasa sindhura with honey.
For chronic fever- with pippali churna and honey.
Increasing eye sight- with triphala churna and honey.
Grahani (IBS)- with Triakatu churna and ghruta.
Raktapitta- with Haritaki, jaggery, sugar and
cardamomum in equal quantity.
4. Piles, anaemia, jaundice- with triphala, trikatu, chaturjata
and honey.
Diabetes- haridra churna, pippali churna in equal
quantity with honey for one month. OR with guduchi
satva.
Semen related disorders- abhraka bhasma in equal
quantity with swarna bhasma for one month. OR with
equal quantity of Rajata bhasma and swarna bhasma.
Urinary retention- with Bhumi aamla, gokshura,
cardamomum, sugar along with ghruta.
5. Renal calculi and decreased appetite- along with alkalis
of plants.
For general body weakness- along with Khseera kakoli
and milk.
Piles- with Bhallataka or its containing drugs.
Azoospermia- licked along with lavanga churna and
honey.
Sukrasthambana- with Jatiphala churna
6. Vataja rogas- sunthi, pushkaramoola, bharanghi, and
vamslochana along with honey.
Kaphaja roga and kaphaja hrudya rogas- kajjali +
abhraka triturated seven times with decoction of arjuna
decoction.
Pittaja rogas- chaturjata and sugar. OR only with sugar
and milk.
kaphaja rogas- with pippali churna and kayaphala churna
for one month.
