1. German utilities say solar power arrived at a brand new record level in May if this created about
10 % from the country's overall electricity.
The BDEW utility lobby group stated Friday the development was up 40 % around the year due
to favorable climate conditions along with a ongoing boom in new solar panel installations.
Germany made the decision after last year's Fukushima disaster in Japan to phase out nuclear
energy by 2022. Renewable powers are going to generate 30 % from the electricity at that time,
and 80 % by 2050.
All alternative energy sources - including wind energy and biomass plants - this past year paid
for for around 20 % from the country's electricity, but that share seems to become rising as
subsidies and investment incentives fuel a boom in new installations.
