Tool Support for Product Management - Overview and Trends
The most prominent tools in use by product managers today are Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Yet, there are specialized tools available in the market, which focus on specific aspects of product management and therefore enable product managers to do their work better and more efficient.
For software product management the International Software Product Management Association ISPMA (http://ispma.org) has created a framework that describes the many interfaces and activities product managers have to deal with.
Based those activities the presentation provides an overview about the tool landscape available for product managers.
Attendees will see how product roadmaps can be created and updated by specialized tools for requirements management. The graphical roadmaps are connected to real planning data and therefore are more accurate and less time intensive to maintain. Other examples include scenario management for release planning, product feedback applications and agile product planning for which various useful tool solutions exist.
The presentation puts specific focus on tools that support recent trends in IT such as the movement to cloud services, mobile devices, agile development and fast paced releases.
