Cindy Smith is a new math coach for grades 7-12 in the GSSD school district. She has 11 years of classroom experience teaching math courses from grades 9 through 12. She is interested in educational philosophy, how students learn mathematics, and has researched inquiry-based learning approaches, seeking to apply that in her own classroom and now support teachers' efforts through her new coaching role.

I’m looking forward to working
with you. I’m new at this, so we’ll
be learning together! I have 11
years of classroom experience
teaching Math 9 through 12, old
and new curriculum. I have a keen
interest in educational philosophy
and exploring how students learn
mathematics. I’ve done some
research on inquiry-based
learning, and worked hard to
apply that theory in the classroom.
I’ve also used technology to enrich
my instruction. I understand the
challenges of reflecting and
changing practice, and I hope to
support you in your efforts.
