TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE
IN EDUCATION
Presentation and surroundings
• Sant Pere Claver school covers
from 3, 4 and 5 year old pupils
(early years) to children aged 6 to
12 years old (primary education).
• It is a small school with
around 200 students.
• The school belongs to the
Jesuit Educational
Foundation.
• It is located in Poble Sec
(neighborhood in the Sants-
Montjuïc district of
Barcelona).
• It was founded in 1950
by Luis Artigues sj. He
attended gipsy families
that lived in the
Montjuïc hill.
• This is a school with a
vision to help, the
passion to act, and the
enthusiasm to involve
others (excluded
neighborhood).

Who are we?
 Jesuit Education in Catalonia has eight schools
 12,500 students (from 3 to 18 years old)
 1,200 educators
Our mission:

HORIZON 2020
• We look at the future with optimism; this
has driven us to undertake a reflective
process that the entire Jesuïtes Educació
community can participate in. Our aim is
to establish the horizons, processes and
actions that will help us take clear steps
towards a profound change in the learning
and teaching process in Jesuïtes Educació
schools. We aim to transform education.
• The objective of HORIZON 2020 is to
create a new kind of school together. We
want this new school to continuously
incorporate new discoveries in pedagogy,
psychology and neuroscience, in order to
effectively educate in the 21st century and
beyond. We want a new physical space, a
new, more flexible organization and a new
style of administration. We want to create
well-rounded, competent, conscious,
compassionate and committed individuals.
• For all of these reasons, we’ve
created HORIZON 2020, which we
hope will instigate a profound change
in our schools.
• Though we’re following a common
ideal, each one of us is also seeking to
follow his own personal dreams,
vocations and life projects. Let’s start
building a dream together!

CLIL SPC starts its PILE. We are concerned about the English results
at the end of the Primary Education ):
• 5th and 6th :
 Science class and e-portfolio (6th grade)

• 3rd and 4th grade:

 Geometry
• 1st and 2nd grade:
• Physical Education and project works
 Early years: English education for children aged 3 to 5 years (five hours
a week)

One-room classroom
• A big space with 52 students
and 2 or 4 teachers.

teachers blend multiple
subjects.

Presentation and surroundings • Sant Pere Claver school covers from 3, 4 and 5 year old pupils (early years) to children aged 6 to 12 years old (primary education). • It is a small school with around 200 students. • The school belongs to the Jesuit Educational Foundation. • It is located in Poble Sec (neighborhood in the Sants- Montjuïc district of Barcelona).
  • 3. • It was founded in 1950 by Luis Artigues sj. He attended gipsy families that lived in the Montjuïc hill. • This is a school with a vision to help, the passion to act, and the enthusiasm to involve others (excluded neighborhood).

  • 7. HORIZON 2020 • We look at the future with optimism; this has driven us to undertake a reflective process that the entire Jesuïtes Educació community can participate in. Our aim is to establish the horizons, processes and actions that will help us take clear steps towards a profound change in the learning and teaching process in Jesuïtes Educació schools. We aim to transform education.
  • 8. • The objective of HORIZON 2020 is to create a new kind of school together. We want this new school to continuously incorporate new discoveries in pedagogy, psychology and neuroscience, in order to effectively educate in the 21st century and beyond. We want a new physical space, a new, more flexible organization and a new style of administration. We want to create well-rounded, competent, conscious, compassionate and committed individuals.
  • 9. • For all of these reasons, we’ve created HORIZON 2020, which we hope will instigate a profound change in our schools. • Though we’re following a common ideal, each one of us is also seeking to follow his own personal dreams, vocations and life projects.   11. Idea: No només cal treballar molt bé, cal participar en els esdeveniments del barri i la ciutat i publicitar el nostre projecte per tal de garantir la pervivència.

Families with a voice This is an action-research project that, through a major participative process, wants to know and strengthen the parents’ movement organized around schools so that their leadership becomes a cornerstone in improving the local education system. One of the objectives of this programme is to define a roadmap for family participation and involvement in the education system by the end of 2030. ILECat (Innovative Learning Environments of Catalonia) ILECat is based on the OECD Innovative Learning Environments project that tries to identify concrete cases of innovative learning from all over the world. In Catalonia, this programme focuses on building a leadership model to foster learning. This model will help to create networks and establish relationships among education professionals to improve how to learn to become a leader, while offering ways to apply a policy that fosters the model
  13. The Innovative Learning Environments (ILE) project analyses how young people learn. It studies which conditions and dynamics allow them to be able to learn better. By identifying concrete cases of innovative learning environments from all over the world, ILE aims to inform practice, leadership and reform through generating analysis of innovative and inspiring configurations of learning for children and young people.
