Ap Psychology Case Studies
The researchers findings certainly appear to be accurate, but the reliability of certain cases studied is
questionable. For example, ten of two hundred fifty eight respondents reported that their phantom was
perceived as being in a fixed position, and while some ideas as to why this may occur were postulated,
a more specific study of this case would be helpful in their confirmation (Giummarra et al., 2010).
Additionally, the researchers first time finding that approximately 4% of amputees experienced the
proximal portion of the phantom only will need to be repeated in order to be validated, and, especially,
any suggestion as to why this may have occurred will require further investigation (Giummarra et al.,
2010). The breadth and depth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researchers claim that this is not the case, and that their follow up phone calls only served to limit
the effects of these confounding variables (Giummarra et al., 2010), but only further study, which has
taken into account those factors that necessitated the calls in the first place, will show whether this is,
in fact, true. Other attempts to control confounding variables and biases included: submitting adjacent
preexisting pain, coping, mood, depression and amputation surveys and using them to support or
exclude data; and limiting the potential for human error in data perception by use of standardized
statistical analyses and mathematical standards (Giummarra et al., 2010). The accuracy and reliability
of this study, it being so broad, could have been improved in many ways; however, the biggest of these
seems to be that the survey requires more fine tuning of questioning. Trends among smaller
proportions of the population need to be further examined using smaller scale, specialized studies, or
they need to be extrapolated and tested for again among an even larger sample size, in order to see
whether the presented correlations are consistent. This, however, would drastically increase the
expensiveness of the study. The researchers concluded that the phantom limb can be generalized as
presenting with characteristics similar to those which would present in

Essay Comparing The Tempest And This Lime Tree Bower My...
The process of discovery can be hidden and unexpected, having the potential to expand one s
understanding of the world around them and enhance their desire to reconsider what is known. This is
evident in the play, The Tempest by William Shakespeare, composed during the renaissance and
humanism era, and the poem, This Lime Tree Bower my Prison by Samuel Coleridge, written during
the romanticism era. Both these texts explore similar aspects whereby the protagonists is forced into a
vulnerable position and the barrier of their conflicted minds obstructs them from forming new
perceptions. The Tempest accentuates the importance of integrating worlds to develop positive
interactions and overcome conflicts. Similarly, Coleridge s poem highlights ... Show more content on

After Prospero, along with his daughter Miranda, were forced off Milan and shipped to an isolated
island. Prospero s desire for revenge was demonstrated when he conjured the storm with the assistance
of his mysterious spirit slave, Ariel, and brought the men on the ship onto the island as emphasised in
Prospero s assertive tone, Spirit. Did you carry out the storm just as i ordered? Prospero s innate
nature to take responsibility and claim the land as his own, gave rise to the conflict between Caliban; a
native, and Prospero. This island s mine, by sycorac my mother, which thou takest from me. Caliban s
emotive language highlights his inferior position compared to Prospero, upon Prospero and Miranda s
arrival, Prospero took care and educated Caliban, in exchange for Caliban showing them the features
of the land, including the barren and the fertile areas. This mutual relationship was slowly overtaken
by Prospero s overwhelming desire for power, established as Prospero claims Caliban as a commodity
rather than a friend. What, ho! Slave! Caliban! thou earth, thou! Speak. The imperative language
emphasises the importance of sudden discoveries, allowing individuals to alter their perceptions on

Bullying In The Workplace
Bullying often associated with one kid being cruel to another kid, evolved beyond the playground, and
move into adulthood. Unfortunately, bullying has emerged into the workplace, aptly called workplace
bullying. Bullying can happen at the same organizational rank (employee to employee) or involve
hostility by a supervisor toward an employee (Baack, 2012). Conversely, workplace bullying is the
repeated, health harming mistreatment of one or more persons (the targets) by one or more
perpetrators that includes threatening, humiliating, or intimidating behavior, work sabotage and verbal
abuse (WBI, 2014). The article, Workplace Bullying: Costly and Preventable by Terry Wiedmer
(2011), presents information about workplace bullying including ... Show more content on

Subsequently, preventing workplace bullying means identifying and stopping the bully. More
importantly, individuals being bullied need to feel as if their issues and concerns matter, and dealt with
accordingly. For that reason, management should have policies in place so individual being bullied
can have a voice. As Wiedmer (2011) remarks, policies, rules, and practices must be in place to make
workplaces safe and conducive for workers producing at peak levels. Furthermore, organization
policies should clearly address bullying with procedures for reporting, investigating and administering
discipline. As Wiedmer (2011) states, bullying incidents need monitoring and tracking over time to
chronicle the incident reports, steps taken, outcomes realized, and effectiveness of strategies
employed. At no point, should reported bullying be sugar coated or put off for another time. For that
reason, employee must have a person(s) they can go in the organization, whom they trust and who will
respond to their matter in a concerned, proactive, and supportive way (Wiedmer,

Examples Of Superiority In To Kill A Mockingbird
Have you ever wondered how people prove superiority? Superiority is when people try to prove to
others that they are superior. This is something that people think is a lot less common than it actually
is. It happens everyday and can have lifelong effects. Even though our society says that it does not
approve of those who judge someone by their skin color, religion, culture, age, or gender, people often
act out these prejudices with violent behavior because they want to prove their own superiority.
People of various cultures have tried to prove superiority violently. A good example of this is in Night
when the nazis slapped Ellie s father, Then as walking from a deep sleep he slapped my father with
such force that he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours (Wiesel 39). This proves

An excellent example of this is in To Kill A Mockingbird when Judge Taylor declares Tom Robinson
guilty Judge Taylor was polling the jury: Guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty... (Lee 282). This has a long
lasting effect on Atticus and the Finch family because they were the ones that was trying to defend
Tom Robinson and not succeeding to defend him hurt the whole town. Another example of this is in
Night when Ellie gives a nobel winning speech I belong to a traumatized generation, one that
experienced the abandonment and solitude of our people (Wiesel 119). This pretty much summarizes
the entire speech and has long lasting effects because he is trying to spread the word and clearly let
others know that it is not ok to do something like this again. A third great example of this is in Prom
Night In Mississippi when the school votes to move away from black and white proms ( Prom Night
n.pag.). This had a long lasting effect on the school because it took them a while to adjust to what
every other school in the country does today. Violence can have often have long lasting

Is Freedom Still Relevant Today
As our Founding Fathers stated in the First Amendment in the Constitution of the United States,
Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press, or the right of the people to peaceably
assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, (qtd. in Marcovitz 22). Were they
alive today, our Founding Fathers would be greatly appreciative of the changes made to the
Constitution as the prospective and needs of our nation evolved over the last several decades. Freedom
is the idea of being able to act, speak, or think without rule or restriction; which is not the reality of
many countries today and also for women and slaves many years ago in the United States.

Women had trouble being granted the same rights as men till they demanded change. There were
many feminist groups that arose during these desperate times, which helped the issue to be recognized.
The National American Women Suffrage Association (NAWSA) was formed by two women s suffrage
groups, American Woman Suffrage Association and National Woman Suffrage Association which
protested with mass marches and hunger strikes (Suffrage, pars. 2 3). The NAWSA influenced other
groups to come forward, like the National Council of Negro Women (Rights, par. 5). In 1869, African
American men were granted the ballot, but African American women continue with the struggle to
voice their opinions (Suffrage, par 2). Women today still struggle in work environments, with sexism
and being paid less than men. Women are paid twenty two percent less than men, which according to
the Institute for Women s Policy Research will take another forty four years for this gap to be
diminished. In other words, race nor gender should determine one s

Urbanization Is A Necessary Process For A Country
Introduction
Urbanization is a necessary process for countries to develop, this process is a process which require
time and great amounts of money, which can lead to a number of different problems during and after
completion of this stage. A lot of factors play roles that lead to inequalities amongst the citizens. This
paper looks at challenges that can reside in poor urban residents, identifies causes and also highlights
ways in which that can be used reduces them.
Urbanization
Urbanization is the increase in urban population, this occurs when the rural population shifts from
rural areas to urban regions for better job opportunities and better facilities (wiki)2. Urbanization can
be seen as a crucial and necessary process for a country to develop. It can also be used to measure a
country s wealth as it provides opportunities for sustainability and the usage of resources more
efficiently affecting areas both positively and negatively by influencing the social, economic and
environmental changes of a country (wiki)2. The process of urbanization requires time, land and
money, when most of a country s population reside in urban areas the level of urbanization becomes
high and showing the country s level of development and industrialism. Because the process of
urbanization requires a lot of time to fully accomplish, areas that had been urbanized deteriorate with
time forcing gentrification to be implemented in that specific area. The United Nations predicts that

Major Environmental Problems Plaguing Louisiana
Environment, a term used to describe the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or
plant lives or operates. Major environmental problems plaguing Louisiana include flooding, but also
pollution and wetland loss. Presently, Louisiana and the city of Baton Rouge are dealing with
dangerous flood levels. According to (Yan et al., 2016), a Red Cross member stated that the
catastrophic flooding in Louisiana is the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since
Hurricane Sandy two years ago (para. 1). Louisiana anticipates it will cost $30 million in relief funds
to repair flood damages (Yan et al., 2016). More than 7 trillion gallons of water fell in Louisiana and
Mississippi over the course of eight days (Sergent et al., 2016). There have been at least 13 deaths
recorded and over 40,000 homes have been destroyed. Rainfall numbers in double digits from a storm
can bring havoc to an area, thus triggering rivers to ascend swiftly, and exceed flood levels (Dolce,

Although Louisiana has recently experienced a great loss in natural habitats, homes, and wetlands,
rehabilitation is still possible. The Baton Rouge area has pushed through the initial three stages:
devastation, rescue and shock and awe. Now they are working their way through the next five:
community spirit, restlessness, the blame game, politics and embracing big government. The last four
stages include picking up the pieces, where does the region go, road to recovery and the new normal.

Edgar Allan Poe
The amazing, the people who inspire, who make people feel something with words on paper, authors.
Authors have a special ability to create a separate world, but a great author lets us into their world and
makes us feel something when we read their work. From all of the research Colton Coverston has
done, he has come to the conclusion that Edgar Allan Poe should be in the top fifth American Authors
on a top twenty greatest American author list. Edgar Allan Poe has written many pieces of writing,
until he was fifteen. He was born to write. Edgar Allan Poe is a great author, because he wrote about
profound things, and people are continually reading and enjoying them. Edgar Allan Poe was born on
January 19th, 1809. He died when he was only forty years old on December 7th, 1849 from suicide.
Nobody knows why he killed himself, but many people believe that his life influenced his scary
stories. Edgar Allan Poe s most famous writing was The Raven. He started writing when he was
fifteen years old, and his first writing was a poem. The poem was called Last Night, With Many Cares
and Toils. His very last writing, and most famous was The Raven. Most of Edgar Allan Poe s writings
are set in a spooky and dark setting. Young readers today seem to enjoy dark writing. Stephen King is
a popular and favorite in this generation. Stephen King writes in the same genre of Edgar Allan Poe,
and they are both loved authors. They both are continually influencing this generation

Circumcision, Abortion, And The Procedure Of Genital Cutting
Circumcision, possible for both males and females, implies the procedure of genital cutting. This
process is one of the oldest surgical procedures done in a variety of countries. However, circumcision
can not only be accepted for medical reasons but also tend to appear defining for one s religious,
cultural, as well as social lives. Thus, traditional circumcision is usually undertaken in worse
conditions than the traditional medical one. With recent research, numerous advantages for a
circumcised person s health have been proven. In particular, circumcision is now known to reduce the
risk of becoming infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), reduce the risk of penile
cancer as well as cervical cancer in women. Another medical benefit is the reduced risk of UTI (World
Health Organization, n.d.). Due to these benefits, more parents are opting for circumcision, for the
medical profits of the procedure. In addition, in spite of the found benefits of circumcision, the matter
has caused a range of legal and ethical issues that cannot be neglected. Still, from the overall
perspective, circumcision is known to be a rewarding procedure.
One popular form of circumcision in developing countries is female circumcision, which is also
known as female genital cutting or genital mutilation. This practice is a mostly seen for cultural
reasons in Africa and Asia (Nour, Mann, Falk, 2016). The procedure can appear in two types: excision
of the prepuce, with or without excision

The Facts And Scientific Knowledge About Artificial Blood...
ABSTRACT
This essay is a review of the facts and scientific knowledge about artificial blood substitutes, along
with societal attitudes. Artificial Blood has been a staple of scientific experimentation since the 15th
century, and has been developing since. This science has the potential to be an incredible resource to
medical technology. There are two main types of artificial blood, Hb and PFC. These two differ in
function and form but perform most of the same actions. Although there are downfalls to these
technologies, such as short transfusion time and lack of scientific furthering, there is huge potential in
developing blood substitutes.

THE NEED FOR NONTRADITIONAL BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS
The traditional process for transfusions has been widely acknowledged as a successful part of the
medicinal process, but most people are unaware of the shortcomings of blood transfusions. For
example, donated blood is only useful for a maximum of forty two days of shelf life, even with the use
of nutritional additives. (Lowe 1) Although the demand for blood can be high at times, it is
unpredictable how much will be needed or of what blood type. This means that a good amount of
blood will inevitably have to be discarded without being used. An ideal blood substitute would have a
long shelf life, so that it could be used without waste. The most current artificial bloods have a shelf
life of about a year, about eight times traditional blood (Sakar). Another downfall of traditional
transfusions is the struggle for compatibility and donor safety. Each donor and recipient match must
be tested for blood type and by cross matching blood samples. Not enough people donate blood in the
first place, and each person must be tested to make sure that they are disease free, or have not done
anything risking their blood s health in the past. Artificial blood would be a perfect match with all
blood types and bodies, eliminating the need for the hassle of having to use donors altogether.
(Nielson) An alternative to traditional blood would allow certain groups of people with religious
restrictions, such as

Job Stress and Burnout
Stress and Burnout There is a lot to be said about occupational stress, burnout and work satisfaction.
However, finding the ideal career field can be a challenging task all by itself, and even more difficult
with the pressures of financial hardships. As a result, some people may not have the luxury to concern
themselves with obtaining employment that offers work satisfaction. Then again, a person may only
be interested in making a good honest living, getting the bills paid and enjoying a reasonable lifestyle.
Others may happen to enjoy going to work everyday, regardless of their pay because they feel that

Essay on British Rule in Florida
The British were not good rulers because they had only ruled for 20 years, while Spain had dominated
Florida for over 288 years. The British were weak, the only reason they got Florida was because they
were teamed with the French. This of course was before the Treaty of Paris. In 1672 the British had
captured Havana but the use of it was nothing. Many of the British territories had recruiting programs
that were not hard to like. Also when the British were working for good times luck was not there for
them. Crops died within the first few months of their new colony. Also more diseases had really hurt
the British. Diseases as in mosquito bites that cause malaria. For some colonists British times were

Soon after the attack the American Revolutionary War was almost about to happen. Some loyalists
remained well..loyal to the British during that time period. The 2 sides as in the east and west side
were very royal colonies. Even though the Spain had ruled for a longer period time. The British had
one advantage they were able to recruit permanent settlers. Most of Florida s officials were looking to
save money to keep public services going. The Proclamation of 1763 outlawed settlement west of the
appalachians to the newly acquired Florida. The Britishers partners were the French. The French had
strong desires to develop trade within their new colony and also outsiders around it. Each pioneer
settler was given 100 acres of land and 50 acres per family member, i mean who could complain about
that. Soon after this the British went to war against the British. After the war with France it nearly
bankrupted the British government. The British were so worried about pirate attacks that they had to
call a militia to assure safety. Around 1776 about 7 years before the British rule was over, West Florida
was bigger than East Florida. West Florida had extended to Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana. This was
also a major problem because they had problems increasing migration of the Indians into the region.

Research on visualization and linguistic technology were both conducted at Xerox s PARC for a

of joining Inxight, opened a large gap in Inxight s technical expertise front. PARC s visualization
technology has gone through many phases, from point and click graphical user interface (GUI),

Sexual Harassment At The Civil Rights Act
With such practices agencies protect not only the victims rights but also evidence that is later used in
cases. This stratifies Miranda Rights actives that have grave concern for the effect... that the individual
may not be compelled to incriminate himself (Linkins, 2007). This practice also satisfies the State,
who has interest in protecting clear evidence of proper due process procedures and statements given.
In instances where states aim to protect victims under different circumstances, for example individuals
using cameras to harass others; states must adapt and utilizes laws already at their disposal.
18 USC § 2510 2516 addresses wire tapping and privies protection against illegally tapping someone s
telephone, and 47 USC § 223 of the Communication Decency Act prohibits interstate or foreign
telecommunications that is used with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass another... Title 42
of the Civil Rights Act may be utilized to address online victimization. This statute has been
interpreted to prohibit sexual harassment in work environments (Southworth, Finn, Dawson, Fraser,

States can utilize other statues in an effort to protect victims. Such statues can be applied to cameras,
invasion of privacy, and even stalking attempts where cameras and such devices are used. The need
for exact laws with cameras is sometimes clear but how and what statues are not always so.

expect all funding to come from Warner Bros and DC Entertainment studios. Will believe that this
project is something that they will be interested in funding based on their past financing of DC Comic
films as well as the recent success of such films in the past 10 years. While some DC films have not
performed as well as others, Warner Bros. Studios has seemed to find a formula for such films that
have proven to be successful among audiences. In a recent revamping of DC films, Warner Bros. has
chosen to present these stories in much dark way than has ever been done before. This strategy proved
to be extremely successful with the hit Dark Knight trilogy.

Disadvantages Of A Divergent Problem
Divergent Problem Statement
A divergent problem has been proposed by the South African Provincial Administration (SAPA) to my
firm. After an extensive screening of different transport options, SAPA has decided to build a railway,
80 km long between its two major cities with objectives of relieving the traffic on roadways linking
the two cities and stimulating economic development. A choice between the two types of gauges is to
be made. One is the existing Cape gauge 1,067 mm, the other, a Standard Gauge of 1,435 mm. In
order to solve the problem, pros and cons of each type looking mainly at cost, safety, and performance
which measures the comfortability and maintenance of the track will be addressed starting with Cape
gauges and later, Standard gauges.

Having a uniform gauge gives convenience not only to engineers responsible for construction but also
to passengers as there may be no break of gauge needed, where Ilie (2012) demonstrated that a break
of gauge is seen as an obstacle to the smooth flow of traffic which would consequently add delays,
cost, and inconvenience. Assuming the 80 km distance to have mountainous regions, the Cape gauge
could be the optimal choice in this situation. History research shows that narrow gauges were used in
mountainous regions. These gauges are also a substitute to places where standard gauge trains would
need tunnels or bridges (http://www.gaugemaster.com/narrow gauge.html). Difficulty in finding the
manufactures is eased as the existing ones are already producing Cape gauge

What do the comments by the faculty tell you about INU s strategy?
There is no strategy, no concise vision, or supporting mission statement. Therefore, there is no
strategic architecture in place and the business school lacks sufficient human, information, or

applies not only to the business school but to the university as a whole. Without these three

What would the effect be on productivity if the faculty received a 10 percent raise but continued to

The BSC framework lays out nicely how productivity can be measured. Because the BSC is built
around four perspectives (financial, customer, internal, learning and growth), productivity goals can
easily be developed, classified, and measured for each perspective. Exhibit 2 shows how productivity
can be measured utilizing the BSC framework (Pineno).

Affluenza in American Society
Introduction: The basic purpose of this essay is to evaluate a common disorder of our society that is
infecting people throughout World and particularly in the U.S. This disorder is called Affluenza it is
very catching and once polluted with the disease it is difficult to be overthrown. Affluenza is
characterized as an unhealthful connection with money, blown up hopes and tiresome efforts to keep
up with the Joneses. Affluenza creates anxiety, bankruptcy, and becomes the reason of several
problems in associations. Even though, there are some people who have unlike definitions for
Affluenza . Many people find Affluenza to be a rich man s mental sickness and have responded by
suggesting that the world has bigger problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What a terrifying situation to be in! [Amanda Hampson]. Affluenza Materialism: Materialism is also
an indication of this sickness we call Affluenza . What brings about materialism and causes Affluenza
? This simple answer is marketers by using a plenty of information that cannot be avoided they seduce
consumers to buy trough various media [Blenkhorn and N. Wright]. Advertisements Affluenza: It
would be reasonable to believe that if someone view a commercial even half the number of times they
would feel the need to buy or use that product, wouldn t it? Some would say the simple solution would
be to turn off the TV, but that wouldn t solve the problem of marketers attempting to condition
consumers either. Advertising accounts 2/3 of the space in newspapers and 40% of all mail, [Kirsch,
T.]. This would seem to go against my research that Affluenza can be prevented. But on the opposing
with all of these advertisements one can shop around, compare the prices and find the best deals for
him or her using the marketers plan against them and finding the best quality product that fits ones
resources, and standard of living. Although, marketers are in the business of promoting materialism
and in turn perpetuating Affluenza it all comes down to personal choice and self control.

The Philippine-American War
This was America s first true colonial war as a world power. After defeating Spain in Cuba and in the
Philippines in 1898, the U.S. purchased the Philippines, Puerto Rico and several other islands from the
Spanish. However, the Filipinos had been fighting a bloody revolution against Spain since 1896 and
had no intention of becoming a colony of another imperialist power. In February of 1899, fighting
broke out between the occupying American Army and the Filipino forces. The basic causes of the
Philippine American War can be found in the U.S. government s quest for an overseas empire and the
desire of the Filipino people for freedom.
Following the surrender of the Spanish colonial government in the Philippines to American military
forces in August 1898, tensions developed between U.S. and Filipino forces near Manila. The ... Show

The impact of the U.S. war in the Philippines continued for three and a half years before President
Theodore Roosevelt declared it over in July 1902, even though fighting continued in outlying islands
for another decade. To keep the brutal nature of the war hidden from the American public, the

Child Pornography Is An Acceptable And Unavoidable Work...
People in the adult film industry are exposed to sexually transmitted infections in the workplace.
There are no other legal occupations in America where the exposure to diseases is an acceptable and
unavoidable work practice. This paper will go into depth about some of the risks that adult film
workers face, the prevalence of STIs in the adult film industry, whether or not the industry should be
regulated, and some potential policy implementations for the future health of adult film workers.
Every year up to 11,000 adult films are made in the US alone. It is a multi billion dollar industry that

Only 3% of penile vaginal sex scenes and 9.5% of penile anal intercourse in heterosexual films

penile oral contact (Grudzen, et al. 2009). These statistics suggest that condom usage among male
homosexuals is more socially acceptable because of the higher prevalence of HIV in that community.
The low usage of condoms in heterosexual films also suggests that OSHA compliance in the
Californian adult film industry needs to be more heavily regulated (Grudzen, et al., 2009). In 2004,
there was a cluster of HIV infections in the Californian adult film industry. Although adult film
workers are supposed to voluntarily get tested monthly for HIV and other STIs, there is still a window
of time where the HIV virus is not detectable by test. It was during this window that a man infected 3
female adult film workers with HIV. He had his monthly test on February 12, 2004 and on March

yet always aspired to be one. I hung out with the girls who listened to k pop, watched anime, and
loved alternative music more than life. I had popular friends, but they only spoke to me, when their
other friends were not around. I was typically a person who takes humiliation to heart, took way too
many jokes seriously. Most of the time it was because they were black jokes, which I didn t think were
funny. People have told me No you re black. or Why are you here? Africa misses you! You look like
Lil Wayne. I never did anything about it and people kept doing it. Everytime someone judged me for

the last month of 8th grade year, and I was more than ecstatic to get out of what felt like jail. I went to

Theme Of Symbolism In The Cask Of Amontillado
The Cask of Amontillado , a story of revenge and murder. Montresor tells his tale of revenge smugly,
as he invites the reader to applaud his cunning. By luring a friend into the catacombs of the
Montresors, he sought to take back his family s honor. To do so, he plotted a most gruesome murder.
By telling the story from Montresor s point of view, Poe forces the reader to look into the inner
workings of a murderer s mind through his clever use of symbolism. Everything within Poe s stories
takes on symbolic meaning. Every detail seems to stand for something else or to be presenting a vital
clue. Those that we encounter in The Cask of Amontillado are no doubt gruesome. However, these
messages that we are compelled to decipher, create the perfect atmosphere. It s carnival season, what s
usually considered a rapturous event, becomes the perfect place for murder. Starring Montresor and
Fortunato, the reaper escorting the fool; we learn of the cask, a coat of arms and motto, as well as, one
s motives. All of these factors come into symbolic play. The setting, the title, the coat of arms, the
motto, the characters names, as well as their costumes, altogether play parts in helping make the
unfortunate murder of Fortunato all the more horrid and ironic.
To begin, the setting plays a symbolic role; representing a jovial time with an ironic twist. One could
get caught up and lost within a carnival, even murdered. It was not uncommon for someone to go
missing after such events. No

History And Safety Regulations Of Ancient Egyptian Women
Menstruation is a natural and necessary process that has been occurring since human beings can
remember. Because of this necessary process, forms of sanitary protection have been concocted to
meet the needs of women to care for themselves during their menstrual bleeding period. There have
been numerous approaches used by women from all over the world and over the years. Of the
numerous materials, used to collect and dispose of menstrual waste, two have remained most popular,
the pad and the tampon. While many might use, and be familiar with their use in their menstrual
hygiene, not much is known about what is put in or on them and the regulations surrounding them.
This paper hopes to shed a light on the history and safety regulations surrounding the popular
menstrual hygiene products pads and tampons. This papers hopes to answer whether these products
are safe.
Some of the earliest records we have concerning menstrual hygiene solutions are those of ancient
Egyptian women. Egyptian records, that date back to the 15th century B.C., reveal that women, often
wealthy, used internal plugs made from soft papyrus or wool. Poorer women, who might not have
been able to afford soft papyrus or wool were recorded to have used softened aquatic grasses (Farage
101). Their Greek counterparts, as written by Hippocrates, a famous ancient Greek physician, were
said to have created internal plugs as well from lint wrapped around a small piece of wood. The

Language carries with it cultural coding. All experts, commentators and linguists are unanimous that
without knowledge of the language the culture can never be appreciated. A cross cultural consultant
will therefore have this insider knowledge not only through living and working in a country but also
by using and understanding the language.
The complexity and diversity of cross cultural challenges in the international business world is
reflected in the broad knowledge and skills of cross cultural consultants. Drawing on expertise gained
through a variety of interrelated fields, the cross cultural consultant is now truly a specialist of great
importance.

Open houses Sell houses. A lot of homeowners cling to the belief that by scheduling an open house on
their property, it will attract potential buyers but according to the National Association of Realtors in
2014 alone, only 9% of potential buyers found their home through Open Housing. Most people

More often than not, open houses are being used by agents who wants to fish for new potential clients.
You can save money by selling your home yourself or FSBO ( For Sale By Owner). Most
homeowners think that since they will not be paying for any agent commission they will be saving
more, but what you are actually saving on is time, energy and peace of mind that your property is in

The Death With Dignity Essay
In 1997 Oregon passed the Physical Assisted Suicide (PAS) called the Death with Dignity. PAS would
provide terminal ill patients who desired to end their life with access to a lethal dose of medication. In
order for a patient to get access to the lethal dose of medicine in Oregon: they must be 18 years or
older, able to understand, verbalize the consequences, and be a resident of the state. Terminal ill
patients have been medically diagnosed of living six month or less. If a patient in Oregon wants to
commit suicide there would be a 15 day waiting period between the doctor s agreement and the
issuance of the prescription (The Times). PAS is not only legal in Oregon, but also in Washington,
Vermont, New Mexico, and Montana. More than 70% of Californians support the legalization of PAS
and no bill has been introduced since 2007. American culture has been emphasized that citizens of the
United States have the rights and freedoms to make personal decisions. PAS needs to be legalized in
California so terminally ill patients suffering from physical and emotional pain legally end their life.
Despite religious groups disapproval of physician assisted suicide, some patients may suffer emotional
distress due to their physical state. A reason many people may disagree on assisted suicide is that
people s religious beliefs are against the practice. Religious institutions believe an individual should
not commit suicide, instead they need to die as a result of their illness. Roman

THE MODERN NUCLEAR FAMILY
The nuclear , isolated , or restricted family is not a recent phenomenon, but has existed in many
cultures throughout human history. Indeed, the extended family of several generations is found mostly
in relatively advanced, stable, and affluent, but not yet industrialized societies. Very primitive and very
sophisticated societies seem to prefer the nuclear family model.
However, nuclear families can vary in the degree of their isolation and restrictedness. For example,
before the Industrial Revolution the Western nuclear family was often embedded in a larger social ...

In an extended family these freedoms are always restricted, because a wrong choice would affect too
many relatives. Thus, people who want to take full advantage of the new possibilities normally marry
late and keep their families small. However, this rule also has its exceptions. Sometimes large families
are more useful, because they can serve as a back up unit by providing shelter and aid at crucial
moments. This may be especially important for lower class individuals who try to move up , although
the higher classes often also maintain extensive family ties. Thus, even in fully industrialized societies
one can find many men and women who appreciate the traditional extended family or at least a large
network of relatives.
Still, by and large, the closely knit nuclear family has been dominant in Western societies for the last
several generations, and thus it has shaped the general perception of what a family should be: A man
and a woman marry for love, have two or three children, live alone by themselves in a family home or
apartment, and spend all their free time together. The man leaves for work in the morning, while the
woman takes care of the children and the house. She also cooks dinner and ministers to her exhausted
husband when he returns at night. Once or twice a year, at Thanksgiving or Christmas, there is a brief,

My First Small Business Adventure
Growing up as a middle class child with both parents working, I learned to appreciate the little details.
In order to grow my parents had to deal with a lot of un ethical people and the wrongs they did to
them. Although they had many opportunities to develop quickly at the expense of others, they always
denied the idea of taking advantage of them. Instead, my parents chose the longer but righteous road.
Through their life choices and their struggles, I learned to be fair to others as I would like others to be
fair to me, how to be humble, and help develop others as much as I was developing. Love your
neighbor as yourself. Religion wasn t harshly enforced, but my parents implemented a lot of the

Except during the last Supper, Jesus used a script to translate to Hebrew John 5:26 Whoever eats my
flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. (NIV) There was 8 disciples and Jesus. The
disciples were always with Jesus and acted like his friends. The gestures of each action served as
nonverbal communication, for example when Judas was running around with a sad face it
demonstrated that he was frustrated and with a sense of regret. Also symbolism using colors were
prevalent. For example in many occasions the background changed colors like red warned about
danger, smoke and gray meat death and colorfully confetti dispersed in the room brought an amicable
atmosphere. Moreover Entertaining media was used for songs played during simultaneously acting
seen a lot on group choreography. In all the play was not only a play instead it was a sermon presented
in a different method. The Godspell play is appealing as the number of the original performances
revivals/tours increases in the U.S and internationally. Additionally the play is repeated by many other

Buddha and Jesus Christ in Literature Essay
Buddha and Jesus Christ in Literature
Many pieces of literature and characters in literature are based off of religious figures or beliefs. In the
literary pieces that we have read this semester, Buddha, Jesus Christ, and their religions have often
been motifs. Buddha and Christ have many striking differences, but also quite a few similarities. They
have both been very influential in many of the worldly religions of today, and in literature throughout
the years.
The man commonly known as Buddha was born in 560 B.C. and died at the age of eighty in 450 B.C.
He was born to Suddhodana, king of the Sakhyas, and Maya. He was born in Lumbini, near the city of
Kapilauastu in the Himalayan mountain ranges. His real name is Siddhartha ... Show more content on

The king did not want this for his son, so he had guards make sure these four types of people remained
out of Siddhartha s sight.
At the age of sixteen, Siddhartha married a woman named Yasodhara. Together they had a son which
they named Rahula. At the age of twenty nine, Siddhartha abandoned his home. He managed to leave
the palace and go into town, where he saw a decrepit old man, a sick man, a corpse, and a monk.
Siddhartha decided to renounce his world of miseries and sorrows so that he did not become prey to
old age, disease, and death.
Siddhartha first started to live as a hermit and practiced Yogic (discipline of action and devotion). He
was determined to attain supreme peace by practicing self mortification. He ate next to nothing and
almost starved himself to death. One day Buddha heard some young girls singing a song. The lyrics in
the song changed his life. They sang, The string overstretched breaks, the music dies/ The string
overslack is dumb and the music dies (Sivananda). This made Buddha realize that he didn t need to go
to extremes. He realized that he should adapt to a happy medium.
One day Buddha fell into a dejected mood and did not know what to do with himself. He sat under a
tree and said, Let me die. Let my body perish. Let my flesh dry up. I will not get up from this seat till I
get full illumination (Sivananda). He spent

Business Law
Business Law Research Paper Business law is law that refers to law that is dealt with when dealing
with people and certain matters that could be commercial. When dealing with business law, the law is
often dealing with a business of some sort, like the term name says. Certain problems you could deal
with are business formation, employment considerations, immigration law, sales of consumer goods,
contract drafting and negotiations, trust and antitrust, intellectual property, taxes, bankruptcy, and
more. Business law also deals with issues that could arise with existing businesses that interact with
customers or the general public. This helps view businesses as entities separate from businesses and
customers. Businesses can be formed as corporations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Laws protect us from discrimination, from threats of other citizens or countries perhaps, and much
more. Business law simply keeps the calm in this country and it would be chaos without it. According
to a quote from one of our past presidents, Theodore Roosevelt, he said, Ours is a government of
liberty, by, through and under the law. No man is above it, and no man is below it. What he means is
that business law sets a foundation for our country and all organized matters and everything within it.
So many people use business law. Business lawyers, attorneys, judges, prosecutors, anyone who uses
law in their hands for a career or for other circumstances. To use business law in a career that deals
with law, you must have a JD degree or something similar. But if you have a career that isn t
professional, like a lawyer, and you re someone like a police officer, you can use law to help citizens
protect themselves and to take down criminals and felons using the law in a right way. One law that
interests me is criminal law. I ve always been interested in criminal justice and law, and I feel like it
would be a great use to me for many reasons. Not only would it help me take down those who I know
personally who need to be thrown in jail, but it would also help those who are in need to be saved, not
to be cliché, but citizens who genuinely need to be

Character Analysis Of Little Miss Sunshine
Little Miss Sunshine is a comedy movie about a seven year old girl named Olive who aspires to win
the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. To help make her wish come true, her six member family takes a
road trip from Albuquerque to Redondo Beach, California. At the conclusion of the film, Olive and her
family learned to trust and support each other, no matter the situation. Olive is the youngest member
of her family who is entering middle childhood and adolescence just like her older brother Dwayne.
Olive is the type of girl that is cheerful, most of the time and not particularly the kind you would see
in a pageant. Olive s brother, Dwayne, could be described as emo . Although he claims that he hates
his family, he loves his sister, Olive. Their parents, Richard and Sheryl, and their Uncle Frank are in
the process of entering middle adulthood. Throughout most of the film, Richard is considered selfish
because he does not want his family to be seen as losers . Richard is obnoxious to his family, but he
still means well and wants them to succeed. Sheryl is the normal member of the family who does not
tolerate anyone s antics. Uncle Frank is very sarcastic and failed at his attempt to commit suicide. He
used to be a college professor, so he is considered the smart guy. The sixth member of Olive s family,
her grandpa, dies during the movie due to an overdose, but was entering the late adulthood stage. The
members of Olive s family share some similarities and differences, but since they all vary in age,
developmental concepts will be different in a way for each family member. Olive is seven which
means she is approaching adolescence while Dwayne is currently going through adolescence.
Typically, females ages eight to fourteen go through pubertal changes while males go through it
between ages nine to fifteen. The difference in age does not have to do with maturity as much as it
does the brain. Many biological changes take place during the adolescent years, such as: height,
hormones, and etc. Changes in height during adolescence are regulated by the complex of hormones.
Changes in hormones take place later and over a longer period of time in boys than girls. These
changes in hormones could affect how interactions with

The Progression Of Vaccination
It is perceived to be a social standard in society to uphold high beliefs in vaccinations. Medical
professionals as well as historic scientific research support the progression of immunization and its
historical triumph against infection and disease. For example, English physician Edward Jenner
pioneered the smallpox vaccine, which opened the doors for more ventures into the world of
vaccinations. Due to the advancement in technology of the 21st century, we are able to address more
diseases and create new components for vaccines to help find innovative ways to distribute them and
test effectiveness. The progress in science has always been the driving force for the development and
improvement of an effective vaccine. With the second golden age

Hagar Research Paper
Social Justice Assessment Part 1 Hagar is an international, anti trafficking organization who is
committed to protecting, recovering and reintegrating women and children who have been stripped of
their basic human rights. The non for profit organization assists all people regardless of age, gender,
race, religion, disabilities or nationality. Hagar was founded in 1994 by Pierre and Simonetta Tami and
their first act was to build a shelter for abused, destitute and abandoned women and their children in
the Capital City of Cambodia; Phnom Penh. The name Hagar was chosen due to the parallels between
the story of Hagar and Ishmael (around 2000 BC) and the organization s goal to free disempowered
women and children. The name Hagar also carries the meaning of one who flees in Hebrew. Part 2

It saddens me to think that child labour is often required in some families to survive and little pay the
children get at the cost of an education. It is estimated that 27 million people are trapped in slavery
today, through sexual exploitation, forced labour, pedophilia and torture more than in any other time in
history. It is said that 5.6 million of these people are children and that many, many more children are
labouring to support their families (very low pay). Some additional information I learnt was that 58%
of all trafficking cases were for the purpose of sexual exploitation and that 56% of all forced labour
occurs in the Asia Pacific region. The most unfortunate statistic to me is that it is a very profitable
business and that the illegal trade generates more than $150 billon US each year as it is a low risk
trade for extremely high

CIA Research Paper The Central Intelligence Agency is the President s independent foreign
intelligence arm, responsible to him through the Director of National Intelligence and the National
Security Council, and accountable to the people of the United States by interaction with the
intelligence oversight committees of Congress. The CIA has many duties within those boundaries and
performs a variety of functions through many forms of intelligence. They employ people from all

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National Security Agency (NSA), the military, and
others collaborate on many issues and concerns, counterintelligence being an example. The CIA has
no judicial or law enforcement powers, and is not allowed to perform domestic intelligence gathering.
The CIA is absolutely prohibited from any internal security functions. In addition, it is imperative to
understand that the CIA has no hand in policy making; it only provides information and action on
specific policies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Intelligence_Agency). An excerpt from the
Values statement of the CIA, from www.cia.gov, states: Our success depends on our ability to act with
total discretion and an ability to protect sources and methods. The CIA also states, We provide
objective, unbiased information and analysis. We stand by one another and behind one another.
Service, sacrifice, flexibility, teamwork, and quiet patriotism are our hallmarks. (www.cia.gov).
Regardless of public opinion, this is what the CIA stands for and how they represent themselves.
Understanding where the CIA fits into government function is important to know so one can be aware
of where the agency s responsibilities lie. The CIA is separated into four directorates, who carry out
the processes of collecting, analyzing, and giving intelligence to the intelligence consumers.

Are Animals In Zoos
IN THE WILD OR CAGED UP?
These days there are several different animal breeds in zoos for people to look at. They are all over the
world, some are in good conditions and the animals are treated well, but then there ÂŽs the ones that are
opposite of that. Are these zoos really necessary for the well being of the animals, or is it just cruel
capturing them and closing them in much smaller places than what they should have and letting them
be abused? Every kind of animal is ready there to just be looked and used as an entertainment in zoos.
Some animals have a big environment around them, but what about the animals stuck in the less
fortunate countries with little money to support what every breeds requires and needs in order to
survive and live a satisfied life? There are more of those than the other. Especially if you go to

Without these they wouldn t have survived in the wild. The kind of animals that is being talked about
now are the animals that are hunted and killed for their skin to be sold, teeth to be used in rituals by so
called witches and healers. For example, the rhino is endangered now because hunter have been
cutting their horns off and leaving them for dead. The hunters earn thousands on killing with no
remorse and the animals disappear as the years go by while we can t do anything. These endangered
animals have been taking care of and still are by people and put in zoos and protected against anyone
that are going to hurt them. Making sure that they mate and get children so they won t disappear from

blue coloring. Upon investigation, they still had the pigments of colors in them.
Pigments are difficult to break down, but how could the pigments remain if the dinosaur eggs were
millions of years old? In a second case they found red blood cell look alikes and traces of connective
tissue. The discovery of the connective tissue immediately intensified research of these eggs, because
long ago it was stated that bone proteins only lasted one million years. Yet these scientists found ten

  • 2. Ap Psychology Case Studies The researchers findings certainly appear to be accurate, but the reliability of certain cases studied is questionable. For example, ten of two hundred fifty eight respondents reported that their phantom was perceived as being in a fixed position, and while some ideas as to why this may occur were postulated, a more specific study of this case would be helpful in their confirmation (Giummarra et al., 2010). Additionally, the researchers first time finding that approximately 4% of amputees experienced the proximal portion of the phantom only will need to be repeated in order to be validated, and, especially, any suggestion as to why this may have occurred will require further investigation (Giummarra et al., 2010). The accuracy and reliability of this study, it being so broad, could have been improved in many ways; however, the biggest of these seems to be that the survey requires more fine tuning of questioning. Trends among smaller proportions of the population need to be further examined using smaller scale, specialized studies, or they need to be extrapolated and tested for again among an even larger sample size, in order to see whether the presented correlations are consistent. BODY THE NEED FOR NONTRADITIONAL BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS The traditional process for transfusions has been widely acknowledged as a successful part of the medicinal process, but most people are unaware of the shortcomings of blood transfusions. For example, donated blood is only useful for a maximum of forty two days of shelf life, even with the use of nutritional additives. (Lowe 1) Although the demand for blood can be high at times, it is unpredictable how much will be needed or of what blood type. This means that a good amount of blood will inevitably have to be discarded without being used. An ideal blood substitute would have a long shelf life, so that it could be used without waste. The most current artificial bloods have a shelf life of about a year, about eight times traditional blood (Sakar). Another downfall of traditional transfusions is the struggle for compatibility and donor safety. Each donor and recipient match must be tested for blood type and by cross matching blood samples. Not enough people donate blood in the first place, and each person must be tested to make sure that they are disease free, or have not done anything risking their blood s health in the past. Artificial blood would be a perfect match with all blood types and bodies, eliminating the need for the hassle of having to use donors altogether. Affluenza in American Society Introduction: The basic purpose of this essay is to evaluate a common disorder of our society that is infecting people throughout World and particularly in the U.S. This disorder is called Affluenza it is very catching and once polluted with the disease it is difficult to be overthrown. Affluenza is characterized as an unhealthful connection with money, blown up hopes and tiresome efforts to keep up with the Joneses. Affluenza creates anxiety, bankruptcy, and becomes the reason of several problems in associations. Even though, there are some people who have unlike definitions for Affluenza . What brings about materialism and causes Affluenza ? This simple answer is marketers by using a plenty of information that cannot be avoided they seduce consumers to buy trough various media [Blenkhorn and N. Wright]. Advertisements Affluenza: It would be reasonable to believe that if someone view a commercial even half the number of times they would feel the need to buy or use that product, wouldn t it? Some would say the simple solution would be to turn off the TV, but that wouldn t solve the problem of marketers attempting to condition consumers either. Advertising accounts 2/3 of the space in newspapers and 40% of all mail, [Kirsch, T.]. This would seem to go against my research that Affluenza can be prevented. But on the opposing with all of these advertisements one can shop around, compare the prices and find the best deals for him or her using the marketers plan against them and finding the best quality product that fits ones resources, and standard of living. Although, marketers are in the business of promoting materialism and in turn perpetuating Affluenza it all comes down to personal choice and self control. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Philippine-American War This was America s first true colonial war as a world power. After defeating Spain in Cuba and in the Philippines in 1898, the U.S. purchased the Philippines, Puerto Rico and several other islands from the Spanish. However, the Filipinos had been fighting a bloody revolution against Spain since 1896 and had no intention of becoming a colony of another imperialist power. In February of 1899, fighting broke out between the occupying American Army and the Filipino forces. The basic causes of the Philippine American War can be found in the U.S. government s quest for an overseas empire and the desire of the Filipino people for freedom. Following the surrender of the Spanish colonial government in the Philippines to American military forces in August 1898, tensions developed between U.S. and Filipino forces near Manila. The ... Every year up to 11,000 adult films are made in the US alone. It is a multi billion dollar industry that employs approximately 75% women. In homosexual films, the researchers noted that 80% of penile anal sex scenes showed condoms. These statistics suggest that condom usage among male homosexuals is more socially acceptable because of the higher prevalence of HIV in that community. The low usage of condoms in heterosexual films also suggests that OSHA compliance in the Californian adult film industry needs to be more heavily regulated (Grudzen, et al., 2009). In 2004, there was a cluster of HIV infections in the Californian adult film industry. In order for a patient to get access to the lethal dose of medicine in Oregon: they must be 18 years or older, able to understand, verbalize the consequences, and be a resident of the state. Terminal ill patients have been medically diagnosed of living six month or less. If a patient in Oregon wants to commit suicide there would be a 15 day waiting period between the doctor s agreement and the issuance of the prescription (The Times). PAS is not only legal in Oregon, but also in Washington, Vermont, New Mexico, and Montana. More than 70% of Californians support the legalization of PAS and no bill has been introduced since 2007. American culture has been emphasized that citizens of the United States have the rights and freedoms to make personal decisions. PAS needs to be legalized in California so terminally ill patients suffering from physical and emotional pain legally end their life. Despite religious groups disapproval of physician assisted suicide, some patients may suffer emotional distress due to their physical state. A reason many people may disagree on assisted suicide is that people s religious beliefs are against the practice. Laws protect us from discrimination, from threats of other citizens or countries perhaps, and much more. Business law simply keeps the calm in this country and it would be chaos without it. According to a quote from one of our past presidents, Theodore Roosevelt, he said, Ours is a government of liberty, by, through and under the law. No man is above it, and no man is below it. What he means is that business law sets a foundation for our country and all organized matters and everything within it. So many people use business law. Business lawyers, attorneys, judges, prosecutors, anyone who uses law in their hands for a career or for other circumstances. To use business law in a career that deals with law, you must have a JD degree or something similar. But if you have a career that isn t professional, like a lawyer, and you re someone like a police officer, you can use law to help citizens protect themselves and to take down criminals and felons using the law in a right way. One law that interests me is criminal law. I ve always been interested in criminal justice and law, and I feel like it would be a great use to me for many reasons. Not only would it help me take down those who I know personally who need to be thrown in jail, but it would also help those who are in need to be saved, not to be clichĂ©, but citizens who genuinely need to be ... • 43. Character Analysis Of Little Miss Sunshine Little Miss Sunshine is a comedy movie about a seven year old girl named Olive who aspires to win the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. To help make her wish come true, her six member family takes a road trip from Albuquerque to Redondo Beach, California. At the conclusion of the film, Olive and her family learned to trust and support each other, no matter the situation. Olive is the youngest member of her family who is entering middle childhood and adolescence just like her older brother Dwayne. Olive is the type of girl that is cheerful, most of the time and not particularly the kind you would see in a pageant. Olive s brother, Dwayne, could be described as emo . Although he claims that he hates his family, he loves his sister, Olive. Their parents, Richard and Sheryl, and their Uncle Frank are in the process of entering middle adulthood. Throughout most of the film, Richard is considered selfish because he does not want his family to be seen as losers . Richard is obnoxious to his family, but he still means well and wants them to succeed. Sheryl is the normal member of the family who does not tolerate anyone s antics. Uncle Frank is very sarcastic and failed at his attempt to commit suicide. He used to be a college professor, so he is considered the smart guy. The sixth member of Olive s family, her grandpa, dies during the movie due to an overdose, but was entering the late adulthood stage. The members of Olive s family share some similarities and differences, but since they all vary in age, developmental concepts will be different in a way for each family member. Olive is seven which means she is approaching adolescence while Dwayne is currently going through adolescence. Typically, females ages eight to fourteen go through pubertal changes while males go through it between ages nine to fifteen. The difference in age does not have to do with maturity as much as it does the brain. Many biological changes take place during the adolescent years, such as: height, hormones, and etc. Changes in height during adolescence are regulated by the complex of hormones. Changes in hormones take place later and over a longer period of time in boys than girls. These changes in hormones could affect how interactions with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Medical professionals as well as historic scientific research support the progression of immunization and its historical triumph against infection and disease. For example, English physician Edward Jenner pioneered the smallpox vaccine, which opened the doors for more ventures into the world of vaccinations. Due to the advancement in technology of the 21st century, we are able to address more diseases and create new components for vaccines to help find innovative ways to distribute them and test effectiveness. The progress in science has always been the driving force for the development and improvement of an effective vaccine. With the second golden age ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hagar was founded in 1994 by Pierre and Simonetta Tami and their first act was to build a shelter for abused, destitute and abandoned women and their children in the Capital City of Cambodia; Phnom Penh. The name Hagar was chosen due to the parallels between the story of Hagar and Ishmael (around 2000 BC) and the organization s goal to free disempowered women and children. The name Hagar also carries the meaning of one who flees in Hebrew. It saddens me to think that child labour is often required in some families to survive and little pay the children get at the cost of an education. It is estimated that 27 million people are trapped in slavery today, through sexual exploitation, forced labour, pedophilia and torture more than in any other time in history. It is said that 5.6 million of these people are children and that many, many more children are labouring to support their families (very low pay). Some additional information I learnt was that 58% of all trafficking cases were for the purpose of sexual exploitation and that 56% of all forced labour occurs in the Asia Pacific region. The most unfortunate statistic to me is that it is a very profitable business and that the illegal trade generates more than $150 billon US each year as it is a low risk trade for extremely high ... They are all over the world, some are in good conditions and the animals are treated well, but then there ÂŽs the ones that are opposite of that.
