This document summarizes a collaborative project between Leicester College and the University of Leicester to investigate how personal digital assistants (PDAs) can support portfolio development for teaching assistants in a foundation degree program in education. The objectives are to produce a literature review on using PDAs for work-based learning, develop a pedagogical model and proof of concept, create resources for practitioners, and develop guidelines for integrating PDAs into institutional learning management systems. Research involved interviews, classroom observations, and focus groups with 5 third-year and 8 second-year teaching assistants and 11 first-year assistants. Using Portable Moodle and eReaders to Enhance Learning at a Distance for Inca...Helen Farley
Incarcerated offenders face a number of additional challenges to those faced by most other students studying at a distance. Lack of internet access is especially problematic for those studying in a sector that is increasingly characterised by online course offerings.
This paper outlines a project underway at the University of Southern Queensland and the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre in Gatton that is aimed at addressing this challenge. A standalone version of Moodle is being developed that will run on a server and an isolated network of computers within the education centre of the prison. Satellite Moodle will run independently of the internet and will not be able to connect to any computers or networks outside the education centre. The features of Moodle will be modified to allow students to access their coursework and engage in forum discussions. Library resources and course readings will be provided on eReaders, without internet connectivity.
It is expected that the project will result in numerous benefits, among them: students will be participating in learning experiences more closely related to those experienced by students outside of the prison system; they will be learning relevant IT skills, e-literacy and e-research skills; USQ will be fulfilling its obligation in relation to equity of access; and will be addressing the Federal Government’s agenda of increasing participation by socially and economically disadvantaged groups in higher education. Satellite Moodle will also enable USQ to provide internet independent versions of courses to students in other areas that do not have access to the internet.

We are in the mobile era where mobile technology is available to billions of people around the world. Education should take advantage of this availability to deliver education to everyone regardless of location and status. Society has the responsibility to provide a basic education to everyone. This is reinforced by UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: “inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning for all”. There are many benefits for using mobile learning in education, but the most important ones include reaching people in remote locations, educating the disadvantaged, allowing learners to learn in context, and facilitating social interactions for learning. The implementation of mobile learning and the availability of open education resources will provide equal access to education to citizens of the world and allow education to reach the unreachable. People in many countries, especially developing countries, already have mobile technology which they can use to access education. People in developing countries are skipping the large computer age and moving directly to mobile technology. The young generations of students are comfortable using technology. This provides an excellent opportunity for educators to reach learners around the world regardless of location. The combination of mobile learning and use of open education resources will make education affordable to everyone. Education for all cannot be achieved with the current traditional education system where learners have to go to a specific location to learn. Using mobile technology allows learners to use the communication capabilities of the technology to network with people around the world so that they learn from each other and share information. Mobile and emerging technologies will allow ubiquitous access of information and learning materials where citizens of the world can access learning materials from anywhere and at any time. The technology will exist everywhere giving learners’ seamless access to learning materials. The learning space is moving away from the classroom at a specific time to anyplace and anytime. This presentation will describe how mobile technology can be used to increase access to education. It will present examples of successful mobile learning implementations. Participants will be able to identify how they can use mobile learning in their organizations to provide flexible access to education.

A Survey on E-Learning System with Data MiningIIRindia
E-learning process has been widely used in university campus and educational institutions are playing vital role to enhance the skill set of students. Modern E-learning done by many electronic devices, such as smartphones, Tabs, and so on, on existing E-learning tools is insufficient to achieve the purpose of online training of education. This paper presents a survey of online e-Learning authoring tools for creating and integrating reusable e-learning tool for generation and enhancing existing learning resources with them. The work concentrates on evaluation of the existing e-learning tools a, and authoring tools that have shown good performance in the past for online learners. This survey work takes more than 20 online tools that deal with the educational sector mechanism, for the purpose of observations, and the outcome were analyzed. The findings of this paper are the main reason for developing a new tool, and it shows that educators can enhance existing learning resources by adding assessment resources, if suitable authoring tools are provided. Finally, the different factors that assure the reusability of the created new e-learning tool has been analysed in this paper.E-learning environment is a guide for both students and tutorial management system. The useful on the e-learning system for apart from students and distance learning students. The purpose of using e-learning environment for online education system, developed in data mining for more number of clustering servers and resource chain has been good.
Blended learning strategies vary according to the discipline, the year level, student characteristics and learning outcomes, and have a student-centred approach to the learning design. Blended learning can increase access and flexibility for learners, increase level of active learning, and achieve better student experiences and outcomes.
Design and Implementation Multimedia Learning Success for Vocational Schools IJECEIAES
This research aims to design a web-based multimedia applications, interactive learning, in order to improve the learning outcomes of students, especially students of Vocational High School. Multimedia Learning has been designed with some additional content in the form of applications: decision support system for multimedia usage based on Model of Multimedia Learning Success. The population obtained from respondents vocational school in Central Java, which is already implementing multimedia learning. The method used is qualitative analysis in the form of: the development of multimedia learning integrated with decision support systems. Design and implementation of multimedia learning success system that is abbreviated "Sikemuning". Sikemuning can be used to measure or provide guidance for teachers in the use of multimedia. Interviews with several respondents teachers from vocational schools in Central Java showed that: the system success multimedia learning developed in this study can be used as feedback to assess the success and effectiveness of the implementation of learning activities, multimedia learning can improve the performance and intelligence of vocational school students.
