How Did The Construction Of The Great Wall Of China Dbq
A cruel emporer who sent his own people to die, for a wall which is just as protective as paper against
fire, a wall that still couldn´t save the dynasty from falling. The Qin in 221 BCE and Han in 206 BCE
commanded the construction of a grand wall using forced labor. They wanted to keep the Xiongnu
who lived on chinaś northern border out and for good. They constructed this wall with hang tu or
pounded earth, by making a frame then pounding dirt in between the frame and finally removing the
frame. After one dynasty fell the next restored and added to the wall. These walls were enormous
projects which provided protection and glorified china. (Background Essay). The construction of the
Great Wall of China was counterproductive due to innumerable casualties, paying tribute to the
Xiongnu in valuable silk on top of having the wall, and causing poor, peasant families to get up ...

A list compiled of many sources, including legends, folk songs, and historical documents conveys,
¨...tens of thousands of soldiers died from hunger, sickness, and extreme heat or cold¨ (Doc E). This
manifests that many soldiers died from building the wall when they could have been protecting the
country. Also, this loss of innocence is not necessary and they died from not having basic human
needs like food or clothing which is truly unjust. Again this list of compiled sources demonstrates, ¨80
percent Han casualties, a terrible cost of protecting the wall¨ (Doc E). This elucidates that not only did
they die building the wall but four fifths of the people who were protecting the wall were killed in cold
blood. This is truly disgusting because why would you pay in lives for the wall, just to sacrifice more
to protect it. All of this throws light upon how much blood this wall has on itś hands, from the day it
was started to the day it was finished and for years to come it was a murderer of

Short Story Of Tom Brady The Great
The Greatest
Is Tom Brady the greatest QB of all time ? The question a 13 year old boy had asked his father asked
as they sat down to watch the Bills VS Patriots game after the two had arrived home from a basketball
game. Almost everybody around New England think s so .The father answered . As they watched the
game they constantly talked about how well he was playing. Just making players that everybody said
are An amazing player appear as idiots.
Later, after watching the Patriots win 41 25 and watching Tom Brady have an impressive game they
listened to players stats it stunned me how well Tom Brady did without making it look like he wasn t
putting any effort in to it. He threw for 315 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions. But this isn
t anything special for him this season. On October 9th Tom Brady threw for 406 yards and 3
touchdown passes with 0 interceptions with another win against the Cleveland Browns. ... Show more

Labour Strikes In The United States
Labor Strikes Labor strikes are common in the United States. You might be wondering what a labor
strike is. Well, a labor strike is when a worker or a group of workers protest by refusing to work. But,
what are they protesting? Most of the time they are protesting because of their work conditions. These
include, horrible security, not being paid enough, or they re being disrespected. I probably wouldn t go
on strike. If I did, I wouldn t do crazy things such as, breaking things or fighting people. In 2013, there
was a school bus strike in NYC. During the strike, bus drivers refused to show up and pick up the kids
for school. This affected students and parents. Kids couldn t get to school because they didn t have

Myth Of The Aztecs
A diminutive tribe called the Aztecs strolled around northwestern Mexico up until AD 1116. As
claimed by one legend, the Aztec god of the sun and war, Huitzilopochtli, ordered their people to
advance south until they found a new everlasting home. He said that their new home would be marked
with a discernible indication. The sign was an eagle on a cactus with a snake in his mouth. It took the
tribe more than a hundred years of searching. Finally, a priest found the sign in the Valley of Mexico.
However, other people already lived there. They didn t want to allocate their domain with the Aztecs.
So, the Aztecs were stuck with the swamp like area surrounding Lake Texcoco.
Luckily, the Aztecs learned a way to convert this swampy area into a ... Show more content on

His entire house was full of decorations, like fine paintings and stone carvings.
Common people lived in simple houses, which were made from adobe, clay, and water. Adobe are
bricks made from dried clay and water. They had floors made of straw and roofs made of dirt. Almost
every house had only one main room, which was used for everyday indoor activities, like cooking,
eating, and sleeping. Every house had another building for steam bathing. The building would have a
fireplace which would heat the walls. Water would be poured on the hot wall to make steam. The
Aztec people thought that this heat was good for the family s health.
The Aztec people also made two different types of calendars. One was the agricultural calendar, and
the other was the calendar of the gods. The agricultural calendar was a lot like the calendar we use
today. It had 365 days and recorded the seasons. Every year had 18 months, and each month had 20
days. The 5 extra days were the unlucky days of the Aztecs. The second calendar had 260 days. There
were 20 signs and 13 numbers. Each god should have specific weeks and days. They thought that this

The Decrease in Voter Turnout Essay
The United States presidential election of 2012 was the 57th presidential election. The election was
held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. The Democratic political leader was the incumbent President
Barack Obama, and his candidate was vice President Joe Biden. Throughout this election the
proportion of eligible voters who cast ballots shows that the rate was lower than in the past two
presidential elections. Voter turnout decreased from 62.3 percent of eligible citizens voting in 2008 to
an estimated 57.5 in 2012. The above calculation was also below the 60.4 percent in 2004 election,
however above the 54.2 percent turnout in the 2000 election. Despite a rise of over eight million
voters within the fitted population, turnout dropped from 131 ... Show more content on

Why do Americans have limited amount of political knowledge? It s because the public lacks interest
in politics. They rely on group/party loyalty, rather than reasoning. Their responses change randomly
from survey to survey. Recent research shows that the public knows some basic things. For example,
they know the location of the capital and the length of president s term, but they lack knowledge about
other basic things. About 50% know there are 2 senators for each state, and only 66% know which
party controls the House. They show high instability of their preferences, so explosion of information
sources has not helped. The authors Greenburg and Page believe that political trivia may not be a good
measure of adequate knowledge. They also mentioned that the reason for the instability of preference
is because people change their minds and reflect on multidimensional ideology. It s understandable
that American citizens have lost trust in the government as well as interest, but the group of people
that show the least amount of interest in politics and voting are the young generation.
There are a large number of reasons for poor electorate among young people. A clear decline in ballot
among parents has shown that parents are not

The Humanitarian Intervention Since 1990

humanitarian .
Key:
FRY Former Republic of Yugoslavia On March 23rd 1999, the National Atlantic Treaty Organisation
(NATO) began a three month period under the name Operation Allied Force, which involved the
bombing of the Former Republic of Yugoslavia. Allegedly, the reason for this was to prevent the
ethnic cleansing of Kosovar Albanians in Serbia under Slobodan Milosevic s regime. NATO itself has
provided justifications as to why they intervened in the FRY, with multiple scholars supporting the
reasons given. However there are several scholars who reject the justifications put forward and believe

Not gaining permission from the UN, fatalities and casualties caused and the environmental
repercussions will be discussed to showcase how the intervention cannot be labelled humanitarian .
NATO s intervention in the FRY is deemed humanitarian due to it being seen as a way to stop any
further human catastrophe (Cohn 2002:80) in Kosovo due to the tensions between the Kosovo
Liberation Army (KLA) and the Yugoslav Military. There was a fear that it would result in the ethnic
cleansing of many Kosovar Albanians under Milosevic s regime. As a result of the war between the
two armies, it had left approximately 1500 Kosovar Albanians dead and over 300,000 had left their
homes to hide in the mountains of Kosovo due to the fear of being killed. (Roberts 1999:112). The
huge numbers of Albanians fleeing their homes resonated with a large proportion of Europe. Because
of this, NATO had made it clear that they were going to try and bring the Albanian refugees
9823942 POLI10601 back to their homes and had promised to do so. (IICK 2008:89). As NATO was
intervening due to their attempt to save Kosovar Albanians, many see this as being a humanitarian
justification because they were trying to protect lives and stop the destruction caused by the ethnic
cleansing of Albanians under Milosevic. There seems to be the belief that an intervention can be
deemed humanitarian if it attempts to save the lives of others,

The Core Arguments Of Hershey Company
The core arguments of Hershey Company in this case are very clearly stated. Senator Steve Hershey
used their company s Trade Dress on multiple campaign signs for multiple elections. In 2002, Mr.
Hershey was running for commissioner of Queen Anne s County in Maryland. He used a design for
his campaign that looked very similar to a Hershey s chocolate bar wrapper. The background was
brown, the lettering was white, and the font was bolded in all capital letters. In 2010, Steve Hershey
used a design that looked even more similar to a Hershey s chocolate bar wrapper than the one he had
used previously. This campaign sign had a brown background, white bolded font, all capital letters,
and included a white border. In 2014, Steve Hershey used a campaign logo with a two toned brown
Maryland flag background, his last name in all capital bolded letters, similar font, and underneath
read, state senate. Despite having the same name, Steve Hershey is not affiliated with The Hershey
Company in any way. The Hershey Company believed that Steve Hershey s use of their Trade Dress
could cause confusion amongst the general public. When the Hershey Company contacted Steve
Hershey for the first time in 2002, they wrote him a letter asking him to stop using the Hershey s
Trade Dress. In 2010, The Hershey Company contacted Mr. Hershey again and urged him to stop
using their Trade Dress, but they allowed him to use those campaign signs for the primary election

Examples Of Oxymorons In Romeo And Juliet
It s often said that heartbreak teaches a lesson that nobody want to hear but will eventually have to
learn. It s a lesson that only has to be learned once unless learned wrong the first time. In William
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, this claim is proved throughout act 1, scene 1 through Romeo s
premature heartbreak. Shakespeare uses oxymorons to reveal Romeo as a character that is
melodramatic as a result of being ill experienced when it comes to love. Throughout Act 1, Scene 1 of
Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare uses oxymorons to build Romeo s façade of . In lines 173 180 Romeo

usually meaning to be free from illness, injury or pain (as in good health or healthy ) whiles a disease

There are two basic kinds of medication for treating asthma:
Control drugs to prevent attacks
Quick relief (rescue) drugs for use during attacks
Each type is described in more detail below.
Long term control drugs for asthma are used to prevent symptoms in people with moderate to severe
asthma. You must take them every day for them to work. Take them even when you feel okay.
Inhaled steroids prevent symptoms by preventing airway swelling. These work very well and are
almost always the first choice.
Long acting beta agonist inhalers also help prevent asthma symptoms. These drugs should be used
together with an inhaled steroid drug. It may be easier to use an inhaler that contains both drugs.
Other control drugs that may be used are:
Leukotriene inhibitors (such as Singulair and Accolate)
Omalizumab (Xolair)
Cromolyn sodium (Intal) or nedocromil sodium (Tilade)

Treating employees fairly
I believe treating employees fairly will promote employee working performance and avoid some of
the problems that come from employees.
When I did my first job in a bank, my manager didn t treat all employees fairly. He treated several
employees who had a good personal relationship with him much better than others. Those employees
had already worked with him for a long time before I joined the company. If they made a mistake, he
would try to cover up the mistake and made it seem like nothing happened. However, if other
employees, including me, made the same mistake, he would ask us to his office and have a severe
criticism on us. Once the department had a promotion opportunity, he ignored the working
performance and promoted an employee who had a good relationship with him.
Over time some of the employees lost their enthusiasm for their jobs, they didn t care about the
working performance any more. They just completed their work based on their working duties without
any additional contribution to the company. Some of them became sensitive to their working duties; if
a task was beyond their working duties, they wouldn t do it. Disputes over working duties often
occurred among the employees. Some of the employees began to complain about our manager.
Obviously, our manager didn t treat us in a fair manner. Fairness in the working place means that

The South As Defined By The Crops Grown Within The...
The South as Defined by the Crops Grown Within the Plantation System
John Shelton Reed asked, The South: Where is it? What is it? (Reed 1994, 5). This paper will define
the American South by the crops grown within the plantation system from the American Colonial
period through the end of the antebellum period. The South has been an economically distinctive
region reflected by the historic dominance of the plantation system.
For this paper, the crops grown within the plantation system include tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane,
and cotton. Tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane, and cotton were valuable plants and grown as cash crops.
Cash crops, as opposed to subsistence crops, are specialized crops that are grown to be sold for profits
and not used for personal use on the plantations. Plantation owners had no trouble transporting their
crops because of the many waterways in the Southern colonies that made it made it easy for ocean
going ships to tie up at plantation docks. A plantation is defined as a large piece of land (or water)
usually in a tropical or semitropical area where one crop is intentionally planted for widespread
commercial sale and usually tended by resident laborers.
Let us begin by discussing the weather, wrote U. B. Phillips in 1929. (Reed 1994, 7). The weather, that
distinguished Southern historian asserted, Has been the chief agency in making the South distinctive.
It fostered the cultivation of the staple crops, which promoted the plantation system,

The Chinese New Year Essay
Chinese New Year is the most widely celebrated tradition in Asia. The tradition is usually celebrated
on the first day of the first month on the Chinese Lunar calendar. This tradition is rooted in centuries
old customs and is one of the most popular public holidays in China. Apart from China, this tradition
is also celebrated in many Asian countries like Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and
Japan. There are many values and rituals tied with this tradition. For example, people would wear red
clothing, decorate the house with red paper, and give children lucky money in red envelopes.
According to legend, it is said that red can drive away bad luck, which is why the color red is highly
emphasized. In myths, our ancestors would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According a popular myth, the origin of this day lies in the fight against Nian, a beast in Chinese
mythology. The beast would visit cities and eat cattle, crops, and even people. In order for families to
protect themselves from the beast, they would place food at their doorsteps so that the beast would not
harm them. One day during a family dinner, the family noticed how the beast was startled by seeing
the color red. Word of this spread to other friends and family. Soon, from then on, on the first day of
every New Year, people would hang red paper lanterns and other red objects to scare off the beast.
They would also light bamboo stalks in order to scare the beast away. After some time, the beast stop
coming to the city all together. However, by this time relatives and family had already adopted the
habit of getting together to protect each other from the beast.
Looking back at ancient civilization, fireworks, elaborate performances, or decorations had not been
invented or developed. These rituals that are associated with the tradition today were added
throughout the years. It was because of time that people started incorporating ideas that were added on
along with the festival. Therefore you were lucky and fortunate to spend Chinese New Year with

Health harming is being caused by mobile phones, because there is radiation, which leads to
consequences such as headaches, earaches, blurring of vision and even causing cancer. Even though
these problems are still under research, mobile phone users are advised to reduce the usage on mobile

computers and internet. Today, it is very easy for many people to get into your personal computer, e

important is that with technological progress there are more and more machinery, there is less need for
human labor, which brings poverty, leaves people without jobs, unemployment is growing, but it still
does not affect the economy because the progress can be even better and more efficient with the
development of the industry. There are less and less farmers, because of the huge use of technological

After the Abbasids took power, Jabir went back to Kufa. He began his career practicing medicine,
under the patronage of a Vizir (from the noble Persian family Barmakids) of Caliph Harun al Rashid.
His connections to the Barmakid cost him dearly in the end. When that family fell from grace in 803,
Jabir was placed under house arrest in Kufa, where he remained until his death. It has been asserted
that Jabir was a student of the sixth Imam Ja far al Sadiq and Harbi al Himyari;[9][17] however, other

Personal Narrative-High School
I live in a suburban town whose families are well off, each home has hedges trimmed to the needle
and the downtown streets are lined with colorful flags and flowerbeds in the springtime. It is a
moderate sized town but a quiet and simple place to live. Not a lot happens; it is quaintly bustling
during the daytime, yet at night not even a car can be spotted parked on main street. The town appears
to be an ideal, utopian establishment an embodiment of civilization. However, the only high school is
bursting at the seams, the students are rowdy, and there is a surplus of rules but apathetic punishment.
Troubled kids would wait through a tolerable one hour detention, then go out and reinstate their poor
behavior. This evokes many questions about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I spend the a lot of my time doing extracurriculars, like playing baseball, piano, and skiing. When I do
read a book, it entails utter silence or I ll be lost in foggy thought. My hometown has a main library,
along with miniature counterparts in each grade school. When I was younger, I would ride my bike
there with my sister and check out books that may have interested me. I looked for books with deeper
meaning; themes that I can relate to but delivered in a way that will intrigue me from bookend to
bookend. The irony behind this was that I was chasing, searching for a great book, where a great book
found me. It was spanked on my desk by my tenth grade English teacher Mrs. Walke. It was about the
truth behind boys. It is titled Lord of the Flies. Unlike the boys in this book, who get to run
unrestricted, there was no need for running, searching, and exploring in my town, because everything
needed to know has already been discovered. It is the digital age, where a device the size of a cassette
can replace a pocketwatch, library, boombox, and mail carrier. Most of my reading do occur on my

Divine Nine Thesis
In the hollow halls of elite Cornell University, the germination of a transcending organization began.
Following suit around the county, in particular at Howard University, other transcending organizations
arose resulting in new ways of thinking, behavior and, connectivity for black American progression.
The fruit bore from these transcending organizations provided the core leadership and game changers
that shaped the twentieth century black experience. Such greats as W.E.B Du Bose, Booker T.
Washington, Ernest E. Just, Carter G. Woodson, James Weldon Johnson, Sadie Tanner Mossell
Alexander, , Ruth Whitehead Whaley, Zora Neale Hurston, Charles Hamilton Houston, Thurgood
Marshall, A. Phillip Randolph, Martin Luther King, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Coretta Scott King,
Dorothy Height, Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, and Barbara Jordan, and Bobby Rush to name a small
few. Undoubtedly, these men and women deserve the highest of praise and thanks for their courage
and sacrifice. They have been the propellers behind black America s progression the last one hundred
years. And they all are affiliated with of what has been coined in recent times as the Dive Nine. The

William Addis Informative Speech
I. Attention Getter: Most people don t think of prisons as a hygienic place, considering it s a cement
cubicle with no physical separation from the bathroom. But what if I told you that the toothbrush,
possibly the most hygienic tool invented, was created within the vicinity of that cement cubicle. This
imprisoned inventor was no other than William Addis of England.
II. Credibility Statement: As a fan of the toothbrush and an aspiring Dentist, I became curious as to
which genius thought of inventing the modern toothbrush and would like to inform you of the things I
ve discovered.
III. Relevance Statement: In the 21st Century, it seems impossible that people would start their day

Supporting Point: The then current process of brushing teeth could use a lot of refinement, considering
how advanced toothbrushes are today.
1. Sub Point: In the 1700s, teeth were expected to be cleaned using a rag being dipped in water.
a. This process required the availability of a chimney for the soot or regular salt.
b. By using soot as toothpaste, people opened the door and allowed lung cancer and other heart
diseases to enter their body (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, 2002).
c. A study evaluated the effects of soot on the lungs over a 16 year period, in which soot is the cause
for many respiratory ailments and sometimes even death (National Institute of Environmental Health
Sciences, 2002).
2. Addis realized that the process could use improvement, so he gathered the appropriate tools.
a. The process of cleaning teeth consisted of placing a rag on their finger with soot and attempt to
reach all 32 teeth in the mouth.
b. Instead, he saved a chicken bone from a prior prison meal and received bristles from a prison guard.
(East London History)
c. In the vicinity of his own prison cell, he drilled holes into his chicken bone and attached the bristles
spurring the modern toothbrush idea. (Rendell,

The Hate U Give Analysis
In The Hate U Give, we are introduced to our protagonist Starr who is a 16 year old that is trying to
figure out the struggles of high school. She lives in a ghetto part of town and goes to private school in
another town. She is trying to figure out the struggles of growing up and becoming her own person
which include, dating a white man that she hides from her dad, feeling out of place, trying to be
friends with the mean girl in school, and isn t sure who she can trust. One night she is catching up with
an old childhood friend and while stopped at a stop light, she experience death and police brutality as
her unarmed friend is shot and killed. Starr has the now deal with this major thing that has happened
in her life as she is the only witness in this situation. We see a cultural rebellion, young woman trying
to find her voice, and the typical struggles of high school life within this beautifully intimate first
person narrative. Through her perspective, we see how the media is presenting young black men and
how the urban wars, that are happening right now, are affecting all those around. The Hate U Give is a
story I highly recommend anyone and everyone to read. This books matters. Angie Thomas has put the
brutal and blunt realties of race, fear, and privilege that we are experiencing more than ever right now.

The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks Summary
Objectivity is an important factor in the world of journalism. Some journalist falls short of objectivity
while others seem may seem to contain too much of it, abandoning the artistry of persuasion. Today
we live in a world where our own president claims the mainstream news outlets publish fake news. It
leaves us to wonder whether some factors affect the journalists reporting. Whether this is ethically
correct is also something to ask ourselves. Journalist Howard A. Myrick, professor broadcasting,
telecommunications, and mass media at the Temple University of Philadelphia weighs in on this his
article, Search for Objectivity in Journalism published in USA Today in the month of November 2002.

Essay about The Voice of the Chimney Sweepers
William Blake (1757 1827) led a relatively happy life. At an early age, he claimed that he could see
God, Angels, and other important Italian figures. Blake s parents encouraged him to keep a record of
all the masters he claimed to keep in contact with. Blake s father, James Blake, gave him casts and
engravings to keep this record. At the age of ten, Blake started at a drawing school named Henry Pars
Drawing School. Three years later, he was apprenticed to a Master Engraver, James Basire. Blake
worked with Basire for seven years, and then attended the Royal Academy School to further his study
in drawing, painting, and printmaking. After his studies, he started out engraving and producing
illustrations for magazines. In 1783, he happily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children were sent off the squeeze into small places day after day. Limbs could break. Soot was
inhaled. The poisonous chemicals in the chimneys caused hazardous situations, and thus medically,
the children were hindered. Children worked anywhere from six to eight hours a day, and were
expected to get up bright and early the next day to show up for work. On the occasions that they were
allowed off from work, they went home to abusive families or foster homes. Business owners claimed
that putting them to work, the children were able to care for themselves, and their poor families. Still,
many thought that the hours and dangers heavily outweighed the value of a few coins. Blake was not
the only Poet of the time who fought for the rights of the children, but he was one of the few who
publically showed his detest for such labors, through his poems, The Chimney Sweeper Songs of
Innocence 1789, and The Chimney Sweeper Songs of Experience 1794. Blake was able to shed light
on the cruelty of society of the work ethic of children, while also promoting what he hoped would help
children realize that there is hope in the cruel world. Innocence could be defined in many different
ways. Blake defined it as a genuine love, and a trust toward all human kind. Children are particularly
susceptible to this definition of innocence. They do not know any better than to trust. This is why they

Self Observation Of A Self
Throughout my self observation, I felt the need to start with a baseline of who I am. Being raised in
the south I learned to respect myself and others, but sometimes people are just right down obnoxious.
Also, I hold myself to high standards because there s no reason why I cannot make my goals a reality
if I give it my all. This is known as Self Concept: The relatively stable set of perceptions you hold of
yourself. (Page 63) For example, in my observation I notice my patience level is very thin for people
who do not have respect for other s education. There s one girl in particular yesterday, who texted the
whole class, which my nursing class is from 8:30am to 2pm. Therefore, as I m trying to listen and
highlight in my book, only thing I hear is the sound of her long nails tapping on her keyboard or her
phone vibrating. Than during break she wants to ask me for the notes, because the teacher was moving
too fast. Since this is still the first couple of weeks of school, I try to be a little more understanding,
but I will not do someone s work just for them not to pay attention. Therefore today, when the test
came around I had studied my butt off and scored very well. But for the girl that sits next to me, she
complained that the test was too hard and how we didn t have the appropriate information to study for
the test. In that moment, I found myself comparing our differences, I work hard for my grades. I study
and work my butt off then there s those people that don t do anything in class but are the first ones to
complain. The book recognized this as Social Comparison: Evaluating ourselves in terms of how we
compare with others. (Page 66) Throughout the rest of my day, I noticed I compare myself to a lot of
different people without even noticing. Like when I was driving home I saw all these people texting
and driving, and I just could not help thinking like what the heck, I can t even look to the side without
going into the other line so how in the world are they texting! I do not compare myself to other to
prove whose better but I believe it just natural to compare others to yourself.
While at home, I observe the unreserved self more than while am at school where I trend to be a little
reserved. I

President Nixon s Success And Failures
President Nixon s Success And Failures
President Richard Nixon came in power was the 37th president of the united stated elected in 1969.
He is remembered as the first president to ever come out of office through resignation in 1974. He
stepped down halfway in his second term in office or faces the threat of impeachment due to the
efforts to cover up illegal activities that members of his administration had engaged in the Watergate
scandal. He served as a former congressman and a two terms as vice president under Dwight
Eisenhower during the in1950s. He contested against democrat john f Kennedy for presidency in
which he was defeated. In 1968 he decided to context again and this time round won the elections. He
had a mixture of success and failures during his administration as the president of the United States of
America.
President Nixon had a track record in his first term in office despite the disgrace in his second term
that led to his resignation. He pursued reforms in welfare, health care, civil rights energy as well as the
environmental policy. He believed that the policies had been based on national standards and not the
idiosyncratic whims of 50 states. When the congress defeated his welfare and health care programs, he
created the office of management and budget and office of energy policy for advice on oil policy as
well as supporting the clean air act of 1970. Moreover, he established the environmental protection
agency. During his term in office, he

Aristotle s Ethos Pathos Logos
Something that every good salesperson, copywriter, publicist, anyone whose livelihood rests on their
ability to sell, should know. And no, nothing sells itself. If you see an ad that claims this, that s a line.
But how do you learn persuasive writing? Why, you start from the beginning of course.
The very beginning. We re talking obscure Mesopotamian Akkadian scriptures. Don t have time to
read article from 23 centuries BC? Yeah maybe that s a little too early. Lets fast forward to Aristotle.
We re starting with Aristotle because he was one of the most influential philosophers on rhetoric. He

using persuasion.

And it is a part of a widely used persuasive writing structure called the 4 P s.
Creating ethos is what you are doing when you put testimonials on your website or share business
licenses and awards. It s creating an image of yourself as an expertise in your field. Hence, people will
believe you when you tell them your product will do XYZ for them.
Pathos
Pathos means the emotional argument. It s thought that the best copywriting appeals to emotions. The
logic behind emotional selling goes that if you sell by emotion, the thing you are selling is a want. If
you sell based on logic and need people will go for the lowest cost option. People are much more
likely to spend more money on something they want than something they need so selling my emotion
and want allows you to sell your product even if it s not the lowest option by a long shot.
Because pathos is such a critical component of powerful copywriting I will dedicate an entire article to
it and specific techniques used that elicit emotional reactions. For now, just watch this Samsung ad

Battle of Guadalcanal
Some of the bloodiest fight of World War II came in the Pacific. Much of that fighting came at the
Battle of Guadalcanal. A remote island in the Solomons Island chain, Guadalcanal was not thought of
as important, prior to 1942. For several reasons, Guadalcanal was the most significant battle of the war
in the Pacific. The Battle of Guadalcanal was the first offensive the United States took in World War
II. Because of its location, Guadalcanal pushed back the Japanese defensive ring, and put the U.S. in
an aggressive mindset. As an intangible factor, the victory at Guadalcanal provided a much needed
morale boost to U.S. servicemen, who had not had a decisive triumph against the Japanese. Most
importantly, the U.S. gained control of an important airstrip on Guadalcanal that the Japanese had
been trying to utilize.
Guadalcanal was the first American offensive of World War II. American efforts in the Pacific were
heavily impeded by the Europe First strategy during World War II (Gray 317). President Roosevelt
and Prime Minister Winston Churchill both saw Europe as being more important than Asia. Nazi
Germany was viewed as the major threat to Western ideals. Neither the U.S. nor Europe feared a
Japanese invasion. The American Army would send the majority of its forces into Europe. The U.S.
Navy had some of its ships act as convoys to protect merchant ships, but most of the aircraft carriers
were in the Pacific. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) was entirely

Analysis Of Love And Rind Of Time By Carson Mcculler
In the Carson McCullers poem Love and Rind of Time represents the sense of eternity that there are
forward and backward in the time. Where the man evolving a mere half million years, this mean, this
time is so short comparing with the entire time, 500 thousand millions of year. The writer gives a
sense of the uncertain when he said: margin of error (3). He gives an idea that we are not sure exactly
about how much time the earth has as if it was timeless. To live for some people is a little harder than
others but this no matter, as the human can disappear as the weed to dinosaur and the dinosaur to the
star. Therefore, the evolution of the humans a mere is a little part of the history, as there may be many

My Personal Definition For School Curriculum Essay
The meaning of the term curriculum is difficult to define. For school, Pratt (in Brady and Kennedy,
2014, p. 3) argues that curriculum can be an organized set of formal educational and training
intentions . For students, Marsh and Wills (in Brady and Kennedy, 2014, p. 3) maintain that
curriculum is an interrelated set of plans and experiences that a student undertakes under the guidance
of the school , while for teachers, the challenge is to develop curricula that will cater for the needs of
all students (Ah Sam Ackland, 2005). There are various meanings attached to the term curriculum .
My personal definition for school curriculum is that schools develop programs of different study areas
basing on the content of the national curriculum document; teachers plan their teaching basing on the
programs; eventually, students experience the curriculum by engaging in diverse teaching activities. In
this essay, I will be discussing The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) in relation to the
strategic plan and teaching philosophy of Hampton Park East Kindergarten. EYLF for Australia
guides Early Childhood Education in Australia today. The aim of this framework is to support children
s learning and development from birth to eight years. The framework provides a guideline for early
childhood educators to foster children s physical and mental development. Early childhood educators
in Australia recognize the importance of family education in children s learning and the EYLF

before, whole language advocates believe words should be read as a whole instead of breaking the

Research On Information Metering And Measurement
Information Metering and Measurement
Study in information metering and measurement can be classified into smart metering, and smart
monitoring and measurement. In the following, this classification in point.
a)Smart Metering: Smart metering is the mainly important mechanism used in the Smart Grid for
obtaining information from end users devices and appliances, while also controlling the performance
of the devices. Automatic metering infrastructure (AMI) systems, which are themselves built upon
automatic meter reading (AMR) systems, are broadly regarded as a sound strategy to realize Smart
Grid. AMR is the technology of routinely collecting analytical, expenditure, and status data from
energy metering devices and transferring that data to a central database for billing, troubleshooting,
and analyzing. AMI differs from traditional AMR in that it enables two way communications with the
meter. So almost all of this information is available in real time and on demand, allowing for better
system operations and customer power demand organization.
b) Smart meters, which carry two way communications amid the meter and the central system, are like
in many aspects to
AMI meters, or occasionally are regarded as part of the AMI.
A smart meter is typically an electrical meter that records use in intervals of an hour or less and sends
that information at least every day back to the utility for monitoring and billing purposes. Also, a

The Diversity Of Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder
Introduction Throughout my life, I have always been taught to be respectful and grateful. My mother
instilled in me these two values at a young age and emphasized on its significance. This helped me
realize that, in this world, there are many people who undergo unbearable adversities, far worse,
traumatic, and painful than I do. This awakening encouraged me to be more grateful for my
experiences. As a child, I was cognizant of people with mental disorders but there had always been
that barrier that prevented me from approaching and getting to know them better until I met my best
friend s brother in high school. It was as if a new door opened up to my sense of identity and self
awareness in this world. Fortunately, as years passed by, my best friend s brother and I grew close. I
realized that autistic people were people just like us who needed to be cared for and loved
compassionately just like every human being. This past year, I started working for a company that
shelters people diagnosed of Autism Spectrum Disorder, which allowed me to firsthand witness what
was so new to me, and most important to learn about the disorder. According to CDC, autism
spectrum disorder is a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social
communication and behavioral challenges (2015). Needless to say, while people diagnosed of ASD
may carry these developmental incapacities, it typically does not distinguish them from other people.

1996 2001 the Taliban did not spread fear past Afghanistan; they were looked at as a small spec in a

and ticket prices for the NHL. One might expect these two variables to be correlated since there is no
salary cap, but in fact in the early stages of the test period Rishe and Mondello discovered that the
NBA, despite having a salary cap, has a larger payroll dispersion than the NHL. NHL s payroll
dispersion is relatively stable, which could be the reason why this variable is statically insignificant.
Recent success has had more of an impact on the NBA and the NFL compared to the NHL and MLB.
This might be due to the strong correlation between winning and payrolls in cap free sports. To
conclude the average ticket prices has had a strong upward trend in football and baseball, on the other
hand the NHL and NBA seem stagnate possibly due to consumer preference in the last six years. The
second equation in this trial explains the factors that cause seasonal price changes within each league.
Once again playing in a new facility for a season opener suggests the size of seasonal price tickets will
increase for an individual team in any league. The second factor in this equation is the team s post
season success, the result showed that for a team in any league that made it to the playoffs
significantly raised ticket prices. Additionally, the ticket prices rose for only the NHL and NFL if a
team reached the championship. Over the period of time examined NBA and NHL teams displayed a
smaller ticket price increase seasonally, due to the stagnate demand to watch those two

Analysis Of Street Light By Giacomo Balla
I chose to travel to the Museum of Modern Art for this assignment. Once I was there, I wasn t sure
which artwork I wanted to focus my analysis on. At first I was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of
the museum (I have never been), but after a little while I gained my bearings and began to explore for
20th century art. After viewing many of the paintings that we discussed in depth in class and many
that we did not, I decided to write my analysis on Street Light, by Giacomo Balla. I chose this painting
because the colors and aspects of it intrigue me. I am also familiar with it, which can help aid me in
my analysis. I was extremely interested when we discussed Futurism in class, and I was happy that I
could find something in the Museum of Modern Art that had to do with that particular movement,
especially a painting that we touched upon. The painting itself was much larger than I anticipated in
person, and stood taller than me the way it was mounted on the wall. The colors were more vibrant
than any picture online could convey, and I found that I had to restrain myself from physically
touching the lines of color that symbolized the street lamps light. Up close, I was able to notice the
finer details of the work. The lines seemed a little messier and more hastily painted than I had
originally thought, however, this added to the movement of the piece overall. I found myself wishing
that the lines of color pushed to the boundaries of the painting rather than ending before

Clarity Concert Report
On May 28, 2015, high school students Morgan Cassidy and Coralyn Whalen performed their self
choreographed jazz duet, titled Clarity. Clarity is the story of two people in a very addicting
relationship, that is completely hopeless, but continues to hold on to hope. Clarity, along with many
other pieces performed in St. Theresa Catholic Secondary Schools dance recital, was an effective and
eye catching piece that used distinct emotion throughout the entire song. The piece had very
substantial timing issues, and minor technique issues, but overall, the piece demonstrated excellent
partnership and promising potential.
The dancers of Clarity used profound emotion not only in their faces, but in their movements as well.
Throughout the entire dance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this particular piece, it was clear that the dancers were striving to hit each beat perfectly, but their
efforts weren t enough. In most sections of the dance, one of the dancers sometimes both of the
dancers, were not in perfect unison. Perfect timing is essential for a duet to look clean and
professional. If the dancers were to perform this piece again, I would advocate them to work towards
restoring the timing of their number.
My last point is about the dancers techniques, which especially relates to the timing of their piece.
While observing the dance, I couldn t help but notice the amount free movement being used. I don t
necessarily think that using free movement was the best idea for this piece, because the tempo of the
song Clarity is very technical. In my opinion, if the dancers had increased their technique to perfect
their piece, it may have looked professional and complete.
The partnership that Morgan Cassidy and Coralyn Whalen displayed throughout this whole piece
created an excellent number, and promising potential for future pieces. If both dancers work hard to
improve on the few things I have mentioned, I feel that this number will reach its full prospective, in
the near

The Labor Movement During The Nineteenth Century
The labor movement and the need to organize as a united voice for worker s rights came about during
the nineteenth century. During this time, worker s faced long hours which turned into long
workweeks, often times requiring workers to work six days a week with ten or more hours per day for
very low wages and in conditions that were unsafe or unhealthy. In most cases, workers were at the
mercy of the companies that employed them and had few options to improve their work conditions
and even less recourse if they were injured or killed on the job. Out of this need, the organized labor
movement began which provided a vehicle for employees to band together as a united group to
demand better working conditions, fair wages and an established work week. These changes were
done through negotiations with management at the companies and through the creation and
implementation of regulations at the state and federal government level. Many of these regulations
have resulted in set procedures and policies for establishing a union within a workplace, both in the
public (federal) and private sectors. There are two agencies that oversee unions and the policies
governing them.
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is an independent federal agency charged and
empowered to safeguard employees rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as
their bargaining representative. The agency also oversees labor practices to ensure that employees
rights are protected by private

Advantages and Disadvantages of Easily Obtainable Information The rise of technology has shaped
our generation in so many ways. As a child, I remember going to the library and checking out books
when I had a paper or project due for class. As I got older the need for finding books or publications
for research purposes decreased considerably. As I entered middle school, a class was being taught on
computer literacy, and looking back on that class I see how important it was to get started early. I can
only recall one time in the last three years where I stepped foot into a public library, and that was to
place my vote for the 2016 presidential election. The fact that I can hop on my phone, and search
anything I could possibly want to know about, and that information be displayed in a matter of
seconds is an amazing and wonderful thing. The downside to the capability of information at your
fingertips is that it causes people (including myself) to be lazy. Vocabulary and literacy levels are
lower now, because you don t have to read several books to find what you are looking for. I loved
reading for pleasure when I was younger, and still do, but that was because I was required to read
more to find answers to questions. Siri and Google have almost eliminated the need to do such
research.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Media With the rise of technology came the creation of
social media.

  • 2. How Did The Construction Of The Great Wall Of China Dbq A cruel emporer who sent his own people to die, for a wall which is just as protective as paper against fire, a wall that still couldn´t save the dynasty from falling. The Qin in 221 BCE and Han in 206 BCE commanded the construction of a grand wall using forced labor. They wanted to keep the Xiongnu who lived on chinaś northern border out and for good. They constructed this wall with hang tu or pounded earth, by making a frame then pounding dirt in between the frame and finally removing the frame. After one dynasty fell the next restored and added to the wall. These walls were enormous projects which provided protection and glorified china. (Background Essay). The construction of the Great Wall of China was counterproductive due to innumerable casualties, paying tribute to the Xiongnu in valuable silk on top of having the wall, and causing poor, peasant families to get up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A list compiled of many sources, including legends, folk songs, and historical documents conveys, ¨...tens of thousands of soldiers died from hunger, sickness, and extreme heat or cold¨ (Doc E). This manifests that many soldiers died from building the wall when they could have been protecting the country. Also, this loss of innocence is not necessary and they died from not having basic human needs like food or clothing which is truly unjust. Again this list of compiled sources demonstrates, ¨80 percent Han casualties, a terrible cost of protecting the wall¨ (Doc E). This elucidates that not only did they die building the wall but four fifths of the people who were protecting the wall were killed in cold blood. This is truly disgusting because why would you pay in lives for the wall, just to sacrifice more to protect it. All of this throws light upon how much blood this wall has on itś hands, from the day it was started to the day it was finished and for years to come it was a murderer of ... • 3. Short Story Of Tom Brady The Great The Greatest Is Tom Brady the greatest QB of all time ? The question a 13 year old boy had asked his father asked as they sat down to watch the Bills VS Patriots game after the two had arrived home from a basketball game. Almost everybody around New England think s so .The father answered . As they watched the game they constantly talked about how well he was playing. Why do Americans have limited amount of political knowledge? It s because the public lacks interest in politics. They rely on group/party loyalty, rather than reasoning. Their responses change randomly from survey to survey. Recent research shows that the public knows some basic things. About 50% know there are 2 senators for each state, and only 66% know which party controls the House. The authors Greenburg and Page believe that political trivia may not be a good measure of adequate knowledge. They also mentioned that the reason for the instability of preference is because people change their minds and reflect on multidimensional ideology. It s understandable that American citizens have lost trust in the government as well as interest, but the group of people that show the least amount of interest in politics and voting are the young generation. NATO s intervention in the FRY is deemed humanitarian due to it being seen as a way to stop any further human catastrophe (Cohn 2002:80) in Kosovo due to the tensions between the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the Yugoslav Military. There was a fear that it would result in the ethnic cleansing of many Kosovar Albanians under Milosevic s regime. As a result of the war between the two armies, it had left approximately 1500 Kosovar Albanians dead and over 300,000 had left their homes to hide in the mountains of Kosovo due to the fear of being killed. (Reed 1994, 5). This paper will define the American South by the crops grown within the plantation system from the American Colonial period through the end of the antebellum period. The South has been an economically distinctive region reflected by the historic dominance of the plantation system. For this paper, the crops grown within the plantation system include tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane, and cotton. Tobacco, indigo, rice, sugarcane, and cotton were valuable plants and grown as cash crops. Cash crops, as opposed to subsistence crops, are specialized crops that are grown to be sold for profits and not used for personal use on the plantations. Plantation owners had no trouble transporting their crops because of the many waterways in the Southern colonies that made it made it easy for ocean going ships to tie up at plantation docks. A plantation is defined as a large piece of land (or water) usually in a tropical or semitropical area where one crop is intentionally planted for widespread commercial sale and usually tended by resident laborers. Let us begin by discussing the weather, wrote U. B. Phillips in 1929. (Reed 1994, 7). • 27. The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks Summary Objectivity is an important factor in the world of journalism. Some journalist falls short of objectivity while others seem may seem to contain too much of it, abandoning the artistry of persuasion. Today we live in a world where our own president claims the mainstream news outlets publish fake news. It leaves us to wonder whether some factors affect the journalists reporting. Whether this is ethically correct is also something to ask ourselves. Journalist Howard A. Myrick, professor broadcasting, telecommunications, and mass media at the Temple University of Philadelphia weighs in on this his article, Search for Objectivity in Journalism published in USA Today in the month of November 2002. People may think that Rebecca Skloot s close relationship with the Lacks family may have blurred the thin line between having objectivity and lacking it. This might not be okay in other scenarios but since Rebecca Skloot interprets the story with varied information involving different cases having to do with cases similar to Henrietta Lack s she proves that the story of Henrietta Lacks is not uncanny, it is just not well distributed one due to either the time it has occurred or the public s ignorance towards the ... • 28. Essay about The Voice of the Chimney Sweepers William Blake (1757 1827) led a relatively happy life. At an early age, he claimed that he could see God, Angels, and other important Italian figures. Blake s parents encouraged him to keep a record of all the masters he claimed to keep in contact with. Blake s father, James Blake, gave him casts and engravings to keep this record. At the age of ten, Blake started at a drawing school named Henry Pars Drawing School. Three years later, he was apprenticed to a Master Engraver, James Basire. Blake worked with Basire for seven years, and then attended the Royal Academy School to further his study in drawing, painting, and printmaking. Children were sent off the squeeze into small places day after day. Limbs could break. Soot was inhaled. The poisonous chemicals in the chimneys caused hazardous situations, and thus medically, the children were hindered. Children worked anywhere from six to eight hours a day, and were expected to get up bright and early the next day to show up for work. On the occasions that they were allowed off from work, they went home to abusive families or foster homes. Business owners claimed that putting them to work, the children were able to care for themselves, and their poor families. Still, many thought that the hours and dangers heavily outweighed the value of a few coins. Blake was not the only Poet of the time who fought for the rights of the children, but he was one of the few who publically showed his detest for such labors, through his poems, The Chimney Sweeper Songs of Innocence 1789, and The Chimney Sweeper Songs of Experience 1794. Blake was able to shed light on the cruelty of society of the work ethic of children, while also promoting what he hoped would help children realize that there is hope in the cruel world. Innocence could be defined in many different ways. Blake defined it as a genuine love, and a trust toward all human kind. Children are particularly susceptible to this definition of innocence. • 29. Self Observation Of A Self Throughout my self observation, I felt the need to start with a baseline of who I am. Being raised in the south I learned to respect myself and others, but sometimes people are just right down obnoxious. Also, I hold myself to high standards because there s no reason why I cannot make my goals a reality if I give it my all. This is known as Self Concept: The relatively stable set of perceptions you hold of yourself. (Page 63) For example, in my observation I notice my patience level is very thin for people who do not have respect for other s education. There s one girl in particular yesterday, who texted the whole class, which my nursing class is from 8:30am to 2pm. Therefore, as I m trying to listen and highlight in my book, only thing I hear is the sound of her long nails tapping on her keyboard or her phone vibrating. Than during break she wants to ask me for the notes, because the teacher was moving too fast. Since this is still the first couple of weeks of school, I try to be a little more understanding, but I will not do someone s work just for them not to pay attention. Therefore today, when the test came around I had studied my butt off and scored very well. But for the girl that sits next to me, she complained that the test was too hard and how we didn t have the appropriate information to study for the test. In that moment, I found myself comparing our differences, I work hard for my grades. I study and work my butt off then there s those people that don t do anything in class but are the first ones to complain. The book recognized this as Social Comparison: Evaluating ourselves in terms of how we compare with others. (Page 66) Throughout the rest of my day, I noticed I compare myself to a lot of different people without even noticing. Like when I was driving home I saw all these people texting and driving, and I just could not help thinking like what the heck, I can t even look to the side without going into the other line so how in the world are they texting! I do not compare myself to other to prove whose better but I believe it just natural to compare others to yourself. • 32. Battle of Guadalcanal Some of the bloodiest fight of World War II came in the Pacific. Much of that fighting came at the Battle of Guadalcanal. A remote island in the Solomons Island chain, Guadalcanal was not thought of as important, prior to 1942. For several reasons, Guadalcanal was the most significant battle of the war in the Pacific. The Battle of Guadalcanal was the first offensive the United States took in World War II. Because of its location, Guadalcanal pushed back the Japanese defensive ring, and put the U.S. in an aggressive mindset. As an intangible factor, the victory at Guadalcanal provided a much needed morale boost to U.S. servicemen, who had not had a decisive triumph against the Japanese. Most importantly, the U.S. gained control of an important airstrip on Guadalcanal that the Japanese had been trying to utilize. Guadalcanal was the first American offensive of World War II. American efforts in the Pacific were heavily impeded by the Europe First strategy during World War II (Gray 317). President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill both saw Europe as being more important than Asia. Nazi Germany was viewed as the major threat to Western ideals. Neither the U.S. nor Europe feared a Japanese invasion. The American Army would send the majority of its forces into Europe. • 34. My Personal Definition For School Curriculum Essay The meaning of the term curriculum is difficult to define. For school, Pratt (in Brady and Kennedy, 2014, p. 3) argues that curriculum can be an organized set of formal educational and training intentions . For students, Marsh and Wills (in Brady and Kennedy, 2014, p. 3) maintain that curriculum is an interrelated set of plans and experiences that a student undertakes under the guidance of the school , while for teachers, the challenge is to develop curricula that will cater for the needs of all students (Ah Sam Ackland, 2005). There are various meanings attached to the term curriculum . My personal definition for school curriculum is that schools develop programs of different study areas basing on the content of the national curriculum document; teachers plan their teaching basing on the programs; eventually, students experience the curriculum by engaging in diverse teaching activities. In this essay, I will be discussing The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) in relation to the strategic plan and teaching philosophy of Hampton Park East Kindergarten. EYLF for Australia guides Early Childhood Education in Australia today. The aim of this framework is to support children s learning and development from birth to eight years. Automatic metering infrastructure (AMI) systems, which are themselves built upon automatic meter reading (AMR) systems, are broadly regarded as a sound strategy to realize Smart Grid. AMR is the technology of routinely collecting analytical, expenditure, and status data from energy metering devices and transferring that data to a central database for billing, troubleshooting, and analyzing. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Going forward, one of the most notable findings in this regression is the significance of team payroll and ticket prices for the NHL. One might expect these two variables to be correlated since there is no salary cap, but in fact in the early stages of the test period Rishe and Mondello discovered that the NBA, despite having a salary cap, has a larger payroll dispersion than the NHL. NHL s payroll dispersion is relatively stable, which could be the reason why this variable is statically insignificant. Recent success has had more of an impact on the NBA and the NFL compared to the NHL and MLB. This might be due to the strong correlation between winning and payrolls in cap free sports. To conclude the average ticket prices has had a strong upward trend in football and baseball, on the other hand the NHL and NBA seem stagnate possibly due to consumer preference in the last six years. I chose this painting because the colors and aspects of it intrigue me. I am also familiar with it, which can help aid me in my analysis. I was extremely interested when we discussed Futurism in class, and I was happy that I could find something in the Museum of Modern Art that had to do with that particular movement, especially a painting that we touched upon. The colors were more vibrant than any picture online could convey, and I found that I had to restrain myself from physically touching the lines of color that symbolized the street lamps light. Up close, I was able to notice the finer details of the work. • 45. The Labor Movement During The Nineteenth Century The labor movement and the need to organize as a united voice for worker s rights came about during the nineteenth century. During this time, worker s faced long hours which turned into long workweeks, often times requiring workers to work six days a week with ten or more hours per day for very low wages and in conditions that were unsafe or unhealthy. In most cases, workers were at the mercy of the companies that employed them and had few options to improve their work conditions and even less recourse if they were injured or killed on the job. Out of this need, the organized labor movement began which provided a vehicle for employees to band together as a united group to demand better working conditions, fair wages and an established work week. These changes were done through negotiations with management at the companies and through the creation and implementation of regulations at the state and federal government level. Many of these regulations have resulted in set procedures and policies for establishing a union within a workplace, both in the public (federal) and private sectors. There are two agencies that oversee unions and the policies governing them.
