Lung Cancers And Its Effects
INTRODUCTION
What are lung cancers? Lung cancers are the abnormal cells which grow in uncontrolled manner
in one or both lungs. They do not function as normal lung cells and do not develop into healthy
lung tissue. The abnormal cells can grow, form tumours and interfere with the normal functions
of the lung (Lungcancer.org, 2015). Lung cancers can be divided into two major types, namely
non small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancers (SCLC). NSCLC can be
further classified into three main subtypes, namely adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma
and large cell carcinoma (Longo Harrison, 2012). Lung cancers can be diagnosed by chest X ray,
computerised tomography (CT) scan, positron emission tomography computerised tomography
(PET CT) scan, bronchoscopy and biopsy (Nhs.uk, 2015). Unfortunately, lung cancers are often
diagnosed at the later stages. This is due to the unrecognisable symptoms and warning signs at
the earlier stages. NSCLC are often diagnosed at stage IV which accounts for 30 40% of cases
whereas 60% of SCLC is diagnosed at stage IV. Lung cancerusually originates from the cells lining
the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli. Carcinogens especially tobacco smoke will alter the gene
expression of the normal human lung cells, resulting in cell mutation. The proto oncogenes will be
converted to mutated form, oncogenes. Mutation leads to the decreased expression of the tumour
suppressor genes. This results in uncontrolled cell proliferation, cell

Analysis Of Eve Harrington
Statement of Intention Eve Harrington is a widely acclaimed Hollywood star with considerable
talent, her career has taken off. Years after 1950, Karen is reflecting about the time they had
spent together. Karen has undergone a period in her life of inaction: Lloyd is still writing
esteemed plays, Margo has settled down by still takes smaller roles for smaller productions.
Karen is asked by the New York Times to write an opinion piece describing honestly her time

about this acclaimed star. In this way its purpose is to create a true account of the real Eve

The Eve I came to discover has insatiable ambition and disregard for kindness that of which I
have never seen in my life. It all started that drizzly night, she didn t seem to be there, waiting for
Margo Channing as she usually did. Strange, never had I seen such devotion toward someone,
even a charismatic and dramatic star like Margo. It was almost odd not to see her, funny how
odd behaviours become normal when repeated. I remember she approached me, pitifully
walking out of a dark doorway, she began to ask about Margo and Bill and Lloyd. I was amazed,
never had I seen seemingly genuine love and devotion for someone as she did. How I did not see
through the deliberate ethos and modesty of the girl is beyond me. From the first moment this
tongue tied gushing fan seemed in love with the theatre, something that she frequently alluded to.
We all should have seen, her interest was not on Margo, it was on the theatre and all its applause.
Soon after taking her in to see Margo, she told her life story. We were transfixed, it seemed tragic
and it sent Margo to tears. Only Birdy saw through the lies that Eve told. Birdy was right and
retrospectively it does seem unrealistic that she would have everything but the blood hounds
snapping at her rear end . She then became Margo s personal assistant, I remember thinking what a

Figurative Language In The Jungle By Richard Connell
Richard Connell uses figurative language in the story to add richness and spark by using
metaphors and similes. Part of the American Culture is slang which is metaphors and similes. It
s just how we talk and communicate. Even in a story with a scary, mysterious type of mood we
can still have slang. I will explain some of the metaphors and similes throughout the story and
how they add the richness the story s needs. When Richard Connell quotes trying to peer through
the dank tropical night that was palpable as it pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht.
, he uses the key phrases such as pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht . This key
phrase is showing a detailed way to say that it was getting dark and into the night. But instead of
being unimaginative and dull, Connell describes the night so it s easy to imagine using a simile
that we can relate to.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s like moist black velvet. He is explaining how the view is; how he can t see that well because
it looks black and fuzzy like velvet. Instead of saying it s dark out can t see , he spices things up

Game, it quotes There was no breeze. The sea was as flat as a plate glass window. Richard
Connell uses the keyword as comparing two subjects which is using a simile. He is comparing
these objects to make the reader better understand what he is saying and what he is trying to

People And The Thai Born Talent That Hit The Fashion Runway
Thailandese Americans and the Thai born Talent that Struck the Fashion Runway Within the last
few decades, there has been a great influx of Asians who have migrated to the United States. In
1985, Asian immigrants made up less than half of the total immigrant population, many of which
have settled in New York City and California. The selective phenomenon known as migration has
been impelled by the demographic, economic, social and psychological attributes of the location
(Desbarats 305). Migration on a global scale is influenced by factors such as available alternatives
to those considering the move, how much distance is covered, ways of transportation and the state
policies, both complex and restrictive, that oversee who enters and... Show more content on

Occupation became the driving force for some; the numbers of professional immigration, however,
were lower than compared to other Asians. Unlike the low rate of workers, there is an increasing
number of Thai youngsters, in keeping with the national tradition of openness to Western influences
(Desbarats 306). It was believed that education through the United States would lead to professional
success. Student visas were only obtained if the student had financial support as well as the
incentive to go back to Thailand usually in the form of financial ties with their home country
(Desbarats 307). Many immigrants found themselves burdened by the conditions of living in the
states. The financial and psychological struggles were not worth it when immigrants were risking to
construct networks, maintain homeland ties and, ensure that remittances reach families left behind
(Barkan 19). Immigrants who stay in the states try to balance assimilation to the dominant
American culture while still want to feel a sense of their homeland. They try to make a connection
whether it be through food, familiar neighbors or the knowledge of language and dance which gets
lost in the later generations. The primary contact with American culture happens through interaction
with their American peers (Tangsujjapoj 3). Social participation is what breaks the way for

The Establishment Of The European Union ( Eu )
How significant has been the development of the EU s policies concerning the protection of the
natural environmental and climate change? What problems have confronted policy makers in
framing and delivering such policies?
Introduction
The establishment of the European Union (EU) enabled them to handle transnational activities
among the member states, including environmental policy. Its significance situates within its
powers which can manage any other organisations among the member states by virtue of the laws
within the European Union (Baker, 1996, p.215). As a result, it is broadly perceived that there is an
increasing impact from the EU on policy making in the member states. This tendency is particularly
recognised in environmental policy makings, because national standards in law needed to be
questioned and harmonised and policy developments at the European level influences the national
aims, content and settings of environmental policy within the member states (Heinelt et al., 2001).
The area of environmental policy was not established until the first Environmental Action
Programme in 1973 as the major aim for the European Economic Community s agenda was to build
a common institutional framework for mostly economic issues (Jorgensen, 2012). In the next
decades, the development of the area of environmental policy making was accelerated by the the
Single European Act and by the support from the public who tends to have an increasing concern
towards environmental

1. Describe the HP organizational Culture. What are some implications of this culture for
developing new innovations? What is evidence of R amp;D s dominance in HP? The HP
organizational culture revolved around the HP Way, which strongly stressed consensus decision

share of problems. Because GHC s business is technology driven, the culture was dominated by R

Foreshadowing and Dramatic Irony in Death and the Maiden
Foreshadowing is the warning or the indication that something else is going to happen later on in
the story. In Death and the Maiden, Ariel Dorfman uses this literary device to the maximum,
exploring all the different ways he can make the reader predict or foresee what s going to happen
next. However, Dorfman also takes on the audience s ideas and implements dramatic irony, giving
the plot a twist of events and making the audience question themselves and their own theories as to
why the character acts that way or why the author set things as they are.
Dorfman takes the idea of dramatic irony when referring to the characters and their roles in the play.
The greatest contrast in the play is between Paulina and Gerardo.
Paulina Salas, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, one can also argue about Paulina s love hate relationship with Gerardo, as she is clearly
very emotionally attached to him, yet seems as though she treats him with a sort of disrespect or
harsh manner. Paulina s strange relationship also brings the audience to question this woman s sense
of judgment, and maybe even her past. Ironically, later she refers to him as my little man ,
contrasting with how he called her, and making sure that Gerardo knows that he is her husband, and
she s in charge.
Furthermore, Dorfman shows the dramatic irony in the gender roles once Paulina finds out about
Doctor Miranda and gets the gun. At the beginning of the play, the gun was a sign of safety and
security, and by the climax, she uses the gun to manipulate Roberto and Gerardo to do what she
wants, and what she thinks is fair . GERARDO: Paulina, I m asking you to please give me that
gun. PAULINA: No. GERARDO: While you point it at me, there is no possible dialogue.
PAULINA: On the contrary, as soon as I stop pointing it at you, all dialogue will automatically
terminate. If it put it down, you ll use your strength to win the argument.
(Death and the Maiden, Act 1, scene 4, pgs 24 25) Paulina knows that without the gun, she is
hopeless. Her own husband won t listen to her, and they think she s completely crazy. All she wants

Malice Murder Case
The role of malice in determining the level of criminal homicide will have to do with if there was
or was not malice aforethought involved with the criminal homicide. Because malice distinguished
murder and manslaughter, it was imperative for the courts to define that term. Framers of the
Model Penal Code considered malice to be so ill defined, that they abandoned the concept altogether
in distinguishing between murderand manslaughter (Brody and Acker, 2010).
So let us say there are rival gangs and one gang decides to retaliate against the other gang. It is
decided the one gang will go to the hangout of the other gang and shoot members of that gang.

Though economic inequality and homelessness are major challenges for the city, it does not
wholly define Santa Monica s culture. Overall, Santa Monica s politics are largely progressive and
they translate to the types of people and businesses who call the city home. One resident says Santa
Monica is what happens when hippies get rich (M. Rich, personal communication, May 10, 2017).
Hence, there are many benefits to living and working in this community. Primarily, the various

Masculinity In The Fight Club
I am planning to write about the 1999 film Fight Club directed by David Fincher. This movie is
about a nameless insomniac office worker (the narrator) who has became, as he views, a slave
to consumer culture. He begins attending support groups for diseases he doesn t have to subdue
his emotional state, and he begins to sleep again. He meets Marla Singer, another fake attendee
of support groups, she is an incredibly mysterious woman who is obviously a bit crazy, yet the
narrator seems drawn to her. On a flight for his job, the narrator meets the character Tyler
Durden, a hip, stylish man who sells soap for a living. When the narrator s apartment blows up,
he calls Tyler and begins to live with him. The two start a men only underground fight club,
which takes the place of the narrators attendance of support groups in emotional aid. However
the two men soon spiral out of control, battling for the love of Marla and power. The narrator
finds out that Tyler has turned the fight club into an anti capitalism domestic terrorist group called
Project Mayhem and Tyler is planning on blowing up credit card companies to reset debt. The
narrator however realizes that Tyler was created from his imagination and him and Tyler are the
same person. The narrator manages to stop Tyler and his plan to end debt. I wanted to focus on two
main points, one being the messages of masculinity in the film and the other the anti consumer
messages it sends. I wonder what effect this movie has had on

The Main Ideas of Enlightenment Philosophers Essay
During the Enlightenment, revolutionary thinkers called philosophes brought about new ideas as
to how to better understand and improve their society. They were all modern thinkers and had the
best interests of society in mind. Although each philosoph had his or her own ideas, they all
centered around one main theme: equality and human freedom. One famous influential philosopher
was John Locke. Locke was born in England in the mid 17th century and lived through both the
English Civil War and the Glorious Revolution. He strongly believed in equality for all men. In his
book Second Treatise on Civil Government, he says that creatures of the same species and

Only two religions allowed in a population, Voltairesays, would create animosity and competition
between the two groups for power. But if all religions are tolerated, accepted, and represented,
then peace will be prominent and government will function much for efficiently and to the
benefit of all of the people. Everyone s rights will be represented because all of the focus will not
just be on one or two groups of people but a multitude of groups, creating religious equality for
all. Called the Father of Modern Economics, Adam Smith was an enormous advocate for private
markets. He supported an economic system based on the decision making by individuals instead
of the government. Smith felt that no one person or a group is fit to make decisions for a whole
population of people and that the population knows how to make decisions for its welfare. In
Smith s mind, people work to supplement their own lives, and when people seek individual
economic gain then they unexpectedly promote society and stimulate the economy subconsciously.
If people earn more money by working harder then almost all people will work harder. Smith
insinuates that people are naturally self preserving and by default selfish; but to a point. Everyone
has something that they want and in this world most things can be obtained if a person has enough
money. Smith believes that every man should be free to

Why Eddie Van Halen is an Influential Musician Essay
There are certain musicians that come along that shift a culture, attitude, or future musicians.
Another musician that went on influence future generations and considered one of the greatest
guitar players in the world is Eddie Van Halen. Eddie Van Halen was born in Holland in 1955
and immigrated to Pasadena California. At the age of seven, Eddie was training as a classical
pianist, although his love for Rock and Roll was developing. He started working a paper route and
used the money to buy a drum set. His brother Alex, also musically inclined, bought a guitar. After
months of practicing, Alex and Eddie switched instruments. Alex would spend hours on Eddie s
drums and loved to play them. Eddie, a little frustrated with the drums,... Show more content on

A little later, Eddie heard Michael Anthony on the bass and thought that he was perfect for their
band. Still, something was missing; Alex thought they needed a front man. He suggested that they
let David Lee Roth be the front man, mainly to save the rent money on the PA system. David Lee
came on board and thought the brother s last name sounded cool, and the rock group Van Halenwas
born. On one particular show, Gene Simmons from Kiss caught Van Halen at the local gig. He
offered to help them out. Gene Simmons flew Van Halen to New York to tape a demo and
introduced them to the Kiss production management. They had no interest in Van Halen citing
that there was no commercial value to Van Halen, so the band went back to their local gigs in
California. During a show in Hollywood, Warner Brothers records representative Ted Templeman
saw their act and signed them less than a week later for a record deal with the Warner brother s
label. They headed out on the road immediately and caught up with Warner Brothers headliners to
open their shows. The other groups were not very pleased with the band, especially when Van
Halen started getting better reviews. Van Halen was then off to England to open for another band
that Eddie idolized, Black Sabbath. Ozzie was so impressed with the band that he admitted that
Van Halen was outplaying Sabbath. At least that is what Ozzie said according to the Van Halen
camp.

Buffalo Bill and Disney Essay
Buffalo Bill and Disney
More than seventy years after Buffalo Bill taught the history of the West to a curious nation,
Disneyland embarked on a strikingly similar course. Relying on creative marketing, star appeal, the
American fascination with all things western, and, most important, an exceedingly glib portrayal of
history, Disneyland in a strange way completed the story that Buffalo Billstarted in 1883. Although
the eras, to be sure, were decidedly different, history was delivered in exactly the same way.
The west is an idea that has always fascinated the American people. Buffalo Bill was the first to

In one year alone, 1899, the show covered 11,000 miles in two hundred days, giving 341
performances in 132 cities. The show was enormously successful and profoundly powerful as a
shaping force in the way America saw the west.
The problem, of course, is that the show did more than entertain it also became a sort of travelling
museum and the definitive word on a vital period of America s past. What lessons, exactly, did the
show teach and whose values did the Buffalo Bill show endorse? The program of the show, a
website notes, presented itself as a source of knowledge, authority, and authenticity about the west.
(http://xroads.virginia.edu) This mixing of fantasy with reality, of myth and history, belied the
official sounding nature of the show and its program, not to mention the visual nature of the
presentation, which must have seemed real. The blending of fact and fiction, not surprisingly,
carried over to Cody himself, as many became confused with him and the character of Buffalo Bill.
More important to history, though, the stereotype of the American Indian was reinforced, night
after night, as Buffalo Bill and his cast of nearly 500 actors played out scene after scene where the
Indian was nothing more than a mounted warrior destined to lose to the American individual,
taming the frontier, as it were,

George Orwell Politics And The English Language
Language is the network of communication in thought, spoken words, and written verse. It is
structural and formed through the development and adaptions of human beings. As art itself,
language takes the configuration of the world and conveys itself in a diverse manner. Although,
some persons argue that language shall be strictly followed and contain no modifications for that
ruins the sole purpose of language being our system of disclosure. George Orwell, in his text
Politics and the English Language, delivers a message of traditional English being taken further from
its roots and changed into something harsh and inadequate. On the other hand, there s the more
lenient and open author, James Baldwin, who in his text, If Black English isn t a Language, Then
Tell me, What is? , delivers a cry of despair for the language that has grown as its own from his
culture and background. Thus, both Orwell and Baldwin have similar and different outlooks on the
perception of language and how it should be presented in thought and literature. To begin with their
differences, Orwell expounds on the faults of English language when written constructively. In his
text, Politics and the English Language , he pleads with his concerns about modern writers and
their writing structure through a haughty and conservative perspective. To this author, language and
writing is incorrigible. For instance, in the text he states, In certain kinds of writing, particularly in

Annotation Of Sappho s Fragment 16
The Greeks produced some of the greatest literature in the Archaic Age; stories were dauntless,
delightful, and passionate whilst sustaining a worldly and rich composition. Poetry became one
of the arts that grew favorable to the citizens of Greece due to the mellow melody of the art while
preserving the significant principles and values of their culture. The poem Fragment 16, written by
the illustrious poet of the Archaic Age ca. 600 BCE, Sappho, expresses the admiration of
Anactoria and her commendable beauty. This poem, translated by Jim Powell, is an example of
one of Sappho s renowned lyric poetry, demonstrating the intricate practice of love and passion.

In the Archaic Age, beauty is sought by the citizens of Greece all throughout the various forms of
artistic expression. For example, Greek sculptures before the Archaic Age were widely influenced
by the mesopotamians and egyptians, with rigid postures and ceremonious gestures. However, in
the Archaic Age, we see a little more change throughout the art of sculpting in Greece. Greek
sculptors began incorporating lively, athletic, and healthy attributes to the work of art, such as the
Anavysos Kouros, (page 52) a Greek korari sculpture based by the Archaic Age. Health and beauty
in art was commenced in the Hellenic Era, almost as much as the religious aspect of the art. In
addition, Architecture grew of the idea of beauty and beautiful buildings. Greek temples became
very intricate with design and beautifully delicate with aesthetic ethics incorporated into their
fundamental principles. Developments such as the post beam triangle construction, pediments,

this art would be the Temple of Aphaia, (page 49) Aegina, created in 510

Ipo And Secondary Stock Market
The stock market provided companies the right to issued and traded stock through exchange or
over the counter market. A stock is a portion of the ownership of a corporation. Some examples
of stock market in the US are: NASDAQ, NYSE, NYMEX. Other stock markets around the
world: LSE (England), MSE (Canada), HKEX (Hong Kong), etc. Every company needs to raise
money, so usually companies borrow it from somebody like other companies and banks, or they
can selling part of the company, which is known as issuing stock. There are two main ways to
issue stocks: IPO and secondary offering. IPO, stands for initial public offering, is the first sale
of stock by a private company to to the public. Through this process, a private company
transform into a public company. This leads us to the secondary offering. Secondary offering is
the sale of new stocks to the public from a company that has already made its IPO. We know the
reason companies want to issue stocks, but why do people want to buy stock? The main reason
for people to invest in stocks is for capital appreciation or to maximize their own wealth. They
want to increase their money value over times. To do that, they will try to buy stocks at a low
price and sell it at higher price at some point in the future. The investors determined the value of
stocks by the following: P/E ratio and PEG ratio. P/E ratio stands for Price/Earning ratio , the
higher the P/E ratio, the more earning investors will be expected to get from stocks , the

Rihanna s Disturbia
In a world where vapid bubble gum pop songs garner the most Youtube hits, radio requests, and
overall attention from today s youth, it is shocking to think that a pop music icon could release
such a thought provoking song. Contrary to the quintessential 21st century radio hits, Rihanna s
2008 single entitled Disturbia challenges listeners to look beyond captivating beats and an
irrefutably alluring hook. Beneath the rhythmically appealing instrumentals lies a series of
ominous lyrics that would assuredly frighten the listeners if they comprehended these lines on a
deeper level. The speaker explores themes of mental illness and Hollywood infamy and employs
a desperate tone that begs the listener for assistance. The title itself instills a simultaneous feeling
of familiarity and enigma in the listener. Familiarity is present as the root word disturb is easily
identifiable, but the title also elicits feelings of confusion because Disturbia is not an actual word
in the English language. The ia ending suggests that it may be a place inhabited by mentally
disturbed people. The song begins with a repetitive cadence of alliterative vocals. This pattern is

was defeated by Richard Nixon who became president. Reagan also tried to win the presidential
nomination again in 1976 but lost to Gerald Ford. Ronald Reagan announced his candidacy in
November 1979, after making political friends at party fund raising dinners around the country. He
easily defeated the other nominees for the Republican nomination. He chose Gerald Ford as his
vice president. But when Ford s negotiators proposed that the vice president should share
presidential powers, Reagan chose George Bush instead. During the campaign against Democratic
candidate Jimmy Carter, the biggest issue was the economy. Reagan blamed Carter for weaknesses
in foreign policy and a weak army. During the time of the election Reagan had great public support,
which made it easier to push his program through congress.
When Reagan became president he started out in a recession. 11 percent of the work force was
unemployed in fall, 1982. This recession reduced inflation significantly, but the interest rates
remained high. During the next two years the economic recovery began. The unemployment came
down, but thousands of factory jobs disappeared. The new jobs, which were mostly in service
industries, paid less, leaving inflation low.
Reagan s economic policy worked on the claim that investment in industry and spending by
consumers would

Iran Between Iran And Iran
Iran previously known as Persia is not one of the largest countries in the world. It is approximately
a little smaller than Alaska by comparison. Throughout the years, Iran was involved in many
conflicts while still today holding its own against other countries in the world. Iran is located within
the Middle East with the bordering countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan,
and Turkey. As early as the period of the Romans, Iranhad many types of leaders, conflicts and
enemies in the world. Their government structure is similar to most countries such as the United
States and Britain. The only difference is they have one person that has the most power, which is
the Supreme Leader. Their untrained military, imported and outdated weapons, and small military
force compared to most of the larger countries of the world. Iran has more history of conflict then
most of the other countries and still today continues to protect their selves while living in the harsh
environment and terrain to their advantage in holding back invading military forces... The
geography of Iran is remarkable due to its location in the Middle East. When looking at a map of
Iran, you have Iraq, Armenia, and Azerbaijan neighboring the West borders of Iran. On Iran s East
perimeter, you have Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. On the South border, you have the
Persian Gulf; and to the North you have the Caspian Sea that is one of the largest inland bodies of

Compare And Differences Of Fidel Castro And Augusto Pinochet
Compare and contrast the manners in which two authoritarian leaders [Fidel Castro and Augusto
Pinochet] established and maintained their rule during their respective reigns.
Throughout the course of history, several authoritarian leaders have risen to power and maintained
their acquired power through physical, violent means. Two authoritarian leaders that have
transformed their acquired power into dictatorial rights are Fidel Castro of Cuba and Augusto
Pinochet of Chile. Interestingly, Castro and Pinochet differed in their ideals about the ideal
structure of governments. While Castro advocated for a socialist, Marxist, anti imperialist Cuba,
Pinochet favored a anti Marxist, anti socialist, capitalist Chile. Despite their differing ideals, both
shared several similarities in their efforts to establish and maintain their power. Both individuals
rose to power in a similar manner: a sort of coup d Г©tat. Both individuals maintained power
through positive and negative means. Castro and Pinochet introduced several economic reforms
that mostly benefited the people of Cuba and Chile. While these economic reforms allowed for the
financial freedom of many Cubans and Chileans, the dictatorial rulers politically repressed the
residents of Cuba and Chile. While many historians believe that Castro and Pinochet greatly
differed due to their opposing beliefs, both dictators share multiple similarities in the ways that they

Hublot watches
This paper will discuss the positioning and success of Hublot watches in achieving the luxury
watch worldwide. In order to make a good analysis, a lot of information has been gathered through
the official website as well as the advertisement on TV. These information is also combined with the
knowledge of marketing mix and positioning acquired earlier in the course. The main concepts
mentioned have been sourced from Brassington F. And Pettitt S.(2007). Discussion will focus on
the usage of the four element of marketing mix product, price, place and promotion.

The target market of Hublot aims to the young entrepreneurs at the age of 25~45. Compared with
other luxury watches consumers, those entrepreneurs are younger, and they prefer the sense of
future plans. At the same time, they are the generations of the Internet . Take the USA and China
for example, most Internet users are 20~40 years old. The are more likely to accept the creative
products rather than the historical classic ones, and they are believed to be influenced by the
information on the Internet much easier.
In terms of Internet and media, Beaver created Hublot TV in June, 2006, which becomes the first
one to create an online television channel of luxury brands in history. The television will broadcast
all kinds of news of the brand and spread around the world. Furthermore, Hublot also take
advantage of the usage of communication web. Up to now, Hublot have more than 370 thousand
fans on Facebook, and keep the rapid growth.
Young entrepreneurs are energetic, dynamic and vigorous. Swiss watchbrands have always been
keen on sponsor sporting events. Rolex and Wimbledon have a cooperation up to 42 years, their
spokesperson varies from classical musicians to tennis super star. Omega has been the official
timekeeper in the Olympic Games 22 times, and held the quite famous Lake Golf Competition. In

Why People Wear Seatbelts
Deciding what to compose my essay of was no easy task. As a sixteen year old girl, many things

might not bother the average teen girl infuriate me. After reflecting on the subject for a long time,
I finally came to the conclusion that nothing bothers me more than when people don t wear seat
belts whenever they operate or ride in a vehicle. Maybe it s perhaps because I have seen many
wonderful people pass away simply because they couldn t click their seat beltor maybe it s because
wearing a seat belt is logical, but some people still don t seem to understand. In today s modern

The leading cause of death among is teens is vehicle accidents. In 2012 it was reported that in
half of the deaths, the person was no not wearing any type or restraint or seatbelt. Meaning
33,000 people died and another 2.2 million were injured. This has a consequence and as a

Epicurus s Notion Of The Good Life
In my opinion, it is not so easy to agree with everything that Epicurus mentions about his notion

A Brief Summary Of Prohibition
As a result of Prohibition, the advancements of industrialization within the alcoholic beverage
industry were essentially reversed. Large scale alcohol producers were shut down, for the most part,
and some individual citizens took it upon themselves to produce alcohol illegally, essentially
reversing the efficiency of mass producing and retailing alcoholic beverages. Closing the country s
manufacturing plants and taverns also resulted in an economic downturn for the industry. While the
Eighteenth Amendment did not have this effect on the industry due to its failure to define an
intoxicating beverage, the Volstead Act s definition of 0.5% or more alcohol by volume shut down
the brewers, who expected to continue to produce beer of moderate

The Methyl Red, Microbiology Laboratory Theory And...
The Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth is a combination medium that contains peptone,
glucose, and a phosphate buffer that produce proteins, fermentable carbohydrates, and a consistent
pH level (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). The Methyl Red test uses
the Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth to determine if an organism produces stable or unstable
acid by performing a mixed acid fermentation of glucose. If an organism produces a stable acid, it
is positive for executing the mixed acid fermentation which then lowers the pH level in the broth to
4.4 and turns it red. Unstable acids convert to neutral products and the broth will stay yellow or
turn orange, both indicate a negative mixed acid fermentation (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory
Theory and Application). Two of the four bacteriaused had red broth indicating positive test results
for mixed acid fermentation with glucose, they were Escherichia coliand Proteus vulgaris, my
known bacteria. The other two bacteria, Alcaligenes faecalis and Enterobacter aerogenes, and

The Stolen Generations
History Assignment
One of the great holocausts ever committed against a race of people on this planet was the Stolen
Generations of children from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander decent. The Bringing Them
Home Report, also known as the National Inquiry into the into the Separation of Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families however was an extremely pivotal event in the
fight for civil rights for Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders as it initiated recognition,
reconciliation and equality. The significance of the Bringing Them Home report is explained
through the trauma caused by the Stolen Generations and the background information regarding the
report.
The brutal practises of past government went unrecognised until the Bringing Them Home report.
The Stolen Generations was the forcible removal of approximately 14,700 Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander children per year from 1880s to 1970s by the Australia Federal government and
church missions to eradicate the Aboriginal problem . In removing the Indigenous children, white
people stole Aboriginal people s future. Language, tradition, knowledge, dances and spirituality
could only live on if passed on to their children (Source6). Sir Ronald Wilson, developer of the
report, claims The Aboriginal race was seen as an embarrassment to white Australia (Source 5)
therefore the assimilation policy was developed, absorbing the half caste children in to white
society because according to Mr

Comparing My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover
My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover are two mind boggling tales that relate in many ways.
Two of which, they are both written by Robert Browning and from a male s point of view. The
Duke in My Last Duchess gives off a controlling, jealous, and arrogant vibe towards the Duchess
which results in her death. The man in Porphyria s Lover is angry and irritated because the woman
he loves will not divorce her husband which also ends with her death. The poems My Last Duchess
and Porphyria s Lover demonstrate two different relationships with women while both men view
women as objects. The men in both poems use possessive language towards the women. Porphyria
s Lover says, that moment she was mine, mine... (Porphyria line 26). This vividly portrays the
man as controlling and overly possessive. He then comes up with a plan to kill her, so he can keep
Porphyria in the moment because he knows he not have a future with her. Similarly, the Dukeviews
his Duchess as his own keepsake and hides the painting of his Duchess behind a curtain so none

The Supernatural Elements In GuigemarAndYonec By Marie...
Marie de France, supposed author of the series of Lais, recounts her stories through short texts,
which are centered on women and their place in the 12th century. There are several supernatural
elements throughout her work, which are mainly and explicitly present in Guigemar and Yonec .
This can be defined as events or things that cannot be explained by nature or science and that are
assumed to come from beyond or to originate from otherworldly forces. It is not however the only
narrative device she has used in her written pieces. It is with the combination of the supernatural
with the self propelled ship or the transformation of the hawk into a knight, and the natural, the
symoblisation of the stick and the rossignol, that Marie de Franceexplores human relations between
her characters.
The supernatural in Guigemar is evident right from the start when Guigemar s fate is determined by
his encounter with the talking doe. As all knights from the time, the young man was due for an
adventure in which metaphorically refers to his need to mature, which meant in this case finding
love. As he is confronted to the talking doe, a natural being with supernatural characteristics, he
is cursed and confronted with the dilemma to find love, or to be forced into finding death, De si ke
cele te guarisse Ki suffera pur te amur . His first reaction: De ceo k il ot est esmaiez , proves to the
readers that love is to him a foreign concept. Commencat sei a purpenser En quell tere

Pupil Population Analysis
Later, we will test our hypothesis and perform tests to check for heteroscedasticity,
multicollinearity, and serial correlation. For now, we will explain why we chose our variables. We
believe each of our independent variables play a significant role in determining the spending per
pupil. Unemployment rate affect spending because the stategovernment will often increase
educationspending when unemployment is high. Unemployment is often linked to lower education
level and each state government would most likely want to change that aspect of their community.
The best way to do that is to create jobs or increase education. This same logic goes for the
independent variables percent of poverty level, and black percentage of population. The percentage

Federal aid is a variable that focuses on monetary need to begin with. So it is not surprising that it
is correlated with our model. Unemployment is a related factor because when there is high
unemployment, the economy of your state is not doing well, so there will be less resources for
state funding for schools.
After this, we see urbanization is a direct factor. This is because as more people move to cities, the
more money funding they have in that area for schools. If you have 5,000 students attending a
school, they are going to get more state funding than a school of 50. State spending per pupil on
schools overall as a model is very important because the more resources you have per student the
more you can teach them. You can get better equipment, better materials, better teachers, the list
goes on and on.
After looking at which variables were important in our model, we can see that money is the
main influencer. If you want your child to have a good education, is best to live in a state that is
doing very well financially. We can see a trend here as well because people who make the most
money tend to be the ones who are most educated. As we start to have our own families and raising
children we will not be aware of which factors influence the money spent per students when
choosing which school district to live

Examining the Social Indicator of Public Spending on...
A nation is defined not just by geographic borders, it is defined by its citizens. Citizens are shaped
by the goods and services that are available to them. Any governmental service costs money;
therefore a nation s economy and the spending of that money works to shape the sociological core
of that nation. But how should that money be spent? One can argue that education spending is
important to a nation s well being. During the 19th century US President James Garfield
commented that next in importance to freedom and justice is popular education, without which
neither freedom nor justice can be permanently maintained (as cited in McPherson, 1912, p.192).
One way in which a nation s value for the importance of education can be... Show more content on

Not everything in Oman is halcyon; there are pressing environmental issues, mainly the
maintenance of an adequate supply of water for agricultural and domestic use. The fact is that
there is only 1 cubic kilometer of renewable water resources, with 94% used in farming and 2%
for industrial activity [...] and only 30% of all rural dwellers have pure drinking water. Both
drought and limited rainfall contribute to shortages in the nation s water supply .4 As these
environmental issues become more pressing, education spending may falter as money is put
towards means of alleviating a water crisis. Culturally, Oman remains strong. Jones and Ridout

this culture of diplomacy...are traditions of tolerance and non sectarianism characteristic of Islam in
Oman, the well documented prevalence of politeness as a social virtue .5 Now that we ve examined

In the Eurasian nation of Georgia, total governmental spending on education amounts to 7.7%

the education of its citizens, rather political unrest is the main factor. After all, the current amount of

The Effects Of School Violence On Today s Youth
Abstract
This research investigates definitions of school violence in general and as a subset of youth
violence in particular and investigates and the core environmental factors and the individual student
risk factors found to contribute to school violence. The research also includes investigation into the
effects of school violence on today s youth in general and the negative outcomes of school violence
including poor physical health, poor mental health, poor academic achievement, and a decreased
sense of safety/well being in particular. The research concludes with an exploration of some of the
prevention and intervention strategies proven to be effective in reducing violence in other countries
from a school based bullying/victimization intervention program implemented in Norwegian
schools, to a South African social development curriculum to cognitive behavioral training
programs to community and school based media campaigns developed for teaching social skills
around anger management, impulse control, and empathy that need to be implemented in American
schools to keep our children safe.
From physical, mental and sexual abuse to theft and vandalism to murder, violent acts in
American schools continue to be a growing problem. In a 2011 survey of high school aged
youth, 12 percent reported being in a physical fight on school property in a 12 month period

Establishing Goals

Nostalgia means something you long for, I long for a bright future. In my future, I desire to be an

Abrahamic Covenant, Mosaic Covenant, Davidic Covenant, and the New Covenant that all relate
and expand with each other and provides hope for Jews and Christians in the past, today, and future.
After God washed the earth of evil by flood (Genesis 5:32 10:1), He created the Noahic Covenant
between Noah and his descendants. With accurate clarification to the Noahic Covenant, God
makes an unconditional promise to Noah and all descendants that He will never flood the earth
again and seals His vow with a rainbow across the clouds. Based on the unconditional promise
made, God had no expectations of Noah and his descendants (Genesis 9). Why did God feel the
need to generate a bond with Noah and his descendants? His compassion and mercy glorifies
through His works and vows. Busenitz highlights God s forgiveness stating, In the Noahic
Covenant, God showed His gracious mercy toward all mankind, both redeemed and unredeemed,
causing it to rain on the just and the unjust and assuring the ongoing, uninterrupted cycle of seasons
(Busenitz, page 10, 1999). Furthermore, one can also grasp that God remains

Compare And Contrast The Devil s Arithmetic Book And Book
The devil s arithmetic book by Jane Yolen and the movie by Dustin Hoffman are very similar to
each other. They both tell the story of a young girl who is transported through time to the 1940 s to
learn what it s like to live through the era of the holocaust after she ignores her family heritage. She
then dies in that time at the hands of the Nazis and learns why she must remember and tell the
future generation about the holocaust. These stories are the same but told in different ways and in
different forms.
In the devil s arithmetic by Jane Yolenand the movie by Dustin Hoffman the main message that
they are trying to throw at us is that we have to remember. We have to remember that some evil
person condemned 6 million jews to death because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the movie the differences are very noticeable first off Hannah is just referred to as Hannah not
Chaya also in the movie there is a woman who gives birth in the camp and the baby is not
allowed to live. In the movie Hannah tries to get the townsfolk to have Seder in the camp which is
a success in bringing the town people together ,but it doesn t happen in the book. In the movie
Hannah has a love interest but not in the book it doesn t matter anyways because he just dies after
he pronounces his love.
The two stories are the same but different they both tell the same story but do it in different ways
that adapts to anyone s style of learning ,but why Jane Yolen and Dustin Hoffman have created
these stories to remind us that we must remember what the nazis put the jews through, we must
remember what happened to those people, we must remember so it doesn t happen

Investigating the Rate of Reaction Between Marble Chips...
Investigating the rate of reaction between Marble Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and hydrochloric acid
Aim.
In the investigation I am going to find out how the surface area affects the rate of reaction by
measuring the amount of gas produced and weight loss in a reaction between small/large pieces of
Marble
Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and Hydrochloric acid per minute.
Hypothesis.
The rate of reaction increases when the surface area of a solid reactant is increased. This happens
because by increasing the surface area we are also increasing the rate of collisions between the
particles. When there is more of the reactant to react with the reaction speeds up. Therefore, my
hypothesis is: the reaction will be faster when using small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
This increased the accuracy of the obtained results.
GRAPH
From the table of results and the graphs I can deduce that by increasing the surface area the rate
at which the gas was produced also increased. The line which represented the amount of gas given
off on the graph was steeper in the test using powder therefore the gas was produced at a faster
rate. Roughly the same amount of gas was produced in all tests. Therefore my hypothesis was
correct.
Evaluation.
As I repeated the experiment 3 times and worked out the average rate of reaction in each test, I
think my results are quite reliable.
However, I could make further improvement by increasing the number of tests and taking the
results with a smaller gap such as 10 seconds instead of 20. I could also increase the amount of
Calcium Carbonate to more than 2g and keep the

Explain How Technologies Convert Light And Sound Into The...
Senior Science Information SystemsChloe Tilley Question 1 Explain what binary code is and
describe how technologies convert Light and sound into this code. Binary code is a coding
system, which is used in electronics to symbolise a letter or digit using the binary digits 0 and 1.
Electric pulses are used to represent 1 s and a lack of pulse to represent 0 s therefore the binary
digit 0 represents off and 1 represents on. There are many forms of electronic devices that use
binary code as their function, some of the common devices include; cell phones, computers and
tablets. These devices only use 0 s and 1 s (on and off) because they only require these 2 digits
to send and receive information; therefore they can function without using all digits 1 to 10.
Binary code is used in computers as they can only read and store an on or off charge. Light and
sound are both methods of communication that can be used as digital or analog signals. The
signal that is being sent is converted into a series of pulses that record information using binary
code. For example sound and light starts as analog signals and are then converted into digital sound
or light signals using binary coding to convert the sound or light... Show more content on

Therefore information is transmitted at a higher frequency and higher energy level via visible
light in an optical fibre than if it were to be transmitted as microwaves. Visible light has a
frequency range of 1014 Hertz to 1015 Hertz, while microwaves have a frequency range of 109

microwaves have longer wavelengths and lower frequency and energy than visible light as they are

Innocence In Brave New World
Innocence is something that can only be lost once. Within both The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara
Kingsolver and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley there are various characters that lose their
innocence in very dramatic ways. A character can lose their innocence due to the death of someone
else. They can also lose their innocence by just being looked at from a different perspective by
others, this can be seen through the characters Bernard and Rachel. ADD ANOTHER TOPIC
Someone who has lost their innocence changes their personality and perspective on life, which
results in them acting in situations differently than they would before. When someone loses their
innocence from the death of another this can very negatively affect the character s emotions.... Show

This is most seen from Bernard in A Brave New Worldand from Rachel in The Poisonwood Bible.
When Bernard brings a Savage back to the city he lives in he is seen like a superstar which
makes him feel like he is finally wanted by someone, when previously no one liked him. Rachel
goes through the same process as Bernard, but backwards. She is used to living the good life and
being pretty in the United States, but when she goes to the Congo she is different then everyone
else which makes her feel self conscious. When Bernard brings back John the Savage from the
Indian reservation to the big city he is a celebrity. He is constantly invited to parties and gets the
opportunities to meet very important people within the city. Since he is now seen as a very
important person in the city this makes him feel more welcome, but he also acts very differently
compared to his previous timider self. This is shown most clearly when he gets frustrated with his
only friend Helmholtz about his resent popularity. It is said

The Functional Equivalent Of The Border And The Fourth...
The functional equivalent of the border and the Fourth Amendment closely tie together in the fact
that although the government has the power to conduct warrantless border searches, in the essence
of the law, the Fourth Amendment strictly prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures and
requires a warrant to be present to conduct the search. Understand when mentioning functional
equivalent , this means the final port of entry after persons and property have entered the United
States. The Fourth Amendment originally enforced the notion that each man s home is his castle
, secure from unreasonable searches and seizures of property by the government. It protects
against arbitrary arrests, and is the basis of the law regarding search warrants, stop and frisk,
safety inspections, wiretaps, and other forms of surveillance, as well as being central to many
other criminal law topics and to privacy law. (Cornell University Law School, 2015)
Functional Equivalent border searches can happen under (2) circumstances: (1) the search was
immediately conduct after crossing the border and (2) there is no probable cause suggestion
tampering. This can have both positive and negative outcomes. Extended border searches are
conducted when there is reason to believe that the person and/or property has been compromised
and a potential threat to national security has been breached. When conducting possible searches
and seizers, the Fourth Amendment is made to protect unreasonable conduct. Due to

Ghost Military Mission Command
Part Three
Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using mission orders
to enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent to empower agile and adaptive
leaders in the conduct of unified land operations (ADRP 6 0) What does a commander do when all
communications with higher command is severed? Combatant commanders cannot cease to
operate simply because communications are interrupted. In Ghost Fleet, the Chinese completely
disrupt all communications for the American fleet. In beginning of the novel, this cripples the fleet.
Lack of orders paralyzes the much needed response to the invasion and attacks. The breakdown of
communications cannot stop the fight. Mission command outlines how mission orders set the
battlefield for success. Disciplined initiative to continue the mission based on a clear understanding
of the commander s intent. In the situation presented in the novel, we are given two examples of
this. When the attack at Pearl Harbor begins, most commanders of the fleet freeze with indecision
when communications cease. This indecision cost countless lives as the torpedoes strike the
unmoving ships. In dichotomy, the USS Coronado sees the attack and acts immediately. They are

In the future, technology and digital systems will continue to play an important role in how the
United States Army fights and wins our nation s wars. As technology improves and becomes an
increasingly integral part of every Army system, it is important that leaders maintain the ability to
fight and win without these benefits. Over reliance on digital systems and unfettered information is
a weakness that our enemies will exploit on future battlefields. Ukraine learned this lesson very
devastatingly in the recent annexation of Crimea. In order to safeguard the trust emplaced on
leaders by the American people, it is a lesson not repeated by the US

Essay on Goblin Market
Victorian Themes in Imagination: Goblin Market in Relation to Romanticism
There were two principle views concerning imagination, the Victorians and the Romantics, who
didn t accept each other s ideas about imagination. But, despite their clashes on the status and views
of imagination, the Romantics and Victorians share similar ideas through different angles of
perspective, which we could assume are linked in part to their era. The long poem, named Goblin
Market, written by Christina Rossetti shows the contrast between the ideas of Romanticism and the
Victorian image of imagination while utilizing the same motifs. Goblin Market centralizes its theme
on the Victorian approach towards Imagination as being a destructive, alien force that ... Show more

Coleridge s definition of imagination consists of the imagination as the prime agent for all human
perception. However, Goblin Market is a story that completely rejects the Romantics ideals of the
imagination since it is a Victorian text. Thus, the imagination is shown as something associated
with being evil and dangerous, which compliments the Victorian ideals while criticizing the
Romantics admiration of the imagination. The initial setting of the tale dwells upon the nature
taking evil and satanic forms due to the destructive tone of the imagination that contradicts the
Romantic s policy of nature being pure and divine in any form it takes. Basically, the initial setting
of the tale takes shape with the aid of local folklore about the mysterious mythical creatures that
appear with luscious baskets of fruits. The author builds upon this folklore by distancing the
characters, such as Laura and Lizzie, from this weird folk culture by introducing the harm inflicted
by these goblins on innocent, gullible young girls. Therefore, the author has already contradicted a
central tendency of Romanticism, which is to root their stories in relation to inquisitive adventures
regarding folk culture and myths. Furthermore, the term used for these imaginative figures is
goblins, which is considered by the Oxford dictionary as a mischievous, ugly, dwarf like creature
of folklore (Oxford University). Once more, Mrs. Rossetti

The Anzio Breakout Essay
January 22, 1944 the sun is shining, and there is quite wind blowing across the beach of Anzio.
In the next two days this beach will be covered in upwards of 30,000 allied troops and will see
some of the bloodiest fighting of the war in the next four months. Anzio was originally supposed to
be a distraction that Sir Alexander could use to breach the Gustav line. However, after a failure to
immediately push towards Rome the allieswould be trapped in trench warfare and would be forced
to breakout of Anzio. This was, simply enough, called the Anzio Breakout. The escape from Anzio
was comprised of the plan and its flaw, the invasion, and the Breakout. The allied commander Sir
Alexander felt that he would be unable to take Rome unless a... Show more content on

In the next week the Allies moved in seven miles fighting off the scattered but increasing
Germans. As the moved along the Anzio Albano Road toward Campoleone, they captured the
town of Aprilia, which created a massive dent in enemy lines, but were unbale to breakout of the
beachhead. Although they met some heavy resistance on the way to Cisterna and Littoria, that
eventually halted their advance, they managed to increase their numbers, and built anti air guns
impairing the German Luftwaffe. Despite their progress because they did not immediately drive
towards Rome the Germans were able to recover and retaliate. Most of the German counterstrikes
were random air raids on the snarl of trenches the allies had dug. The allies broken and weary
from the random barrage of artillery were more then ready to escape the trenches of Anzio and
head towards the capital Rome.
They got their chance on May 12, 1944. On this date the Fifth and Eighth corps retaliated with their
long anticipated offensive against the Gustav Line, finally allowing them to capture Cassino
successively breaking the Gustav Line. Playing to the advantage of the turbulent status in the
central mountains, and using an Allied artillery barrage, along with armor and infantry assaults
along the Anzio, the Cisterna front was opened. On May 23rd, The Allies were able to rupture the
German main line of resistance using air

Challenges Facing Tata Motors Essay
Q 1. What were the key challenges facing Tata Motors in the process of moving to produce
passenger cars from successfully producing commercial vehicles?
Ans.: There are various external and internal factors that posed the key challenges to Tata Motors
in the process of moving from commercial vehicles to passenger cars.
External Factors
1. Inter industry competitions: Tata motorswas trying to enter the entry segment of the Indian

Tying the knot at national parks

Outdoor loving couples and duos seeking a dramatic backdrop without a daunting florist bill are
turning to national parks for ceremonies. I do locales range from Hawaii Volcanoes on the Big
Island to Independence Park in downtown Philadelphia, says Carol Anthony, a spokeswoman for
the National Park Service. Some parks issue fact sheets on locations, regulations and permit
procedures. There s a wedding almost every day at Shoshone Point, and there were 66 weddings
elsewhere in the Grand Canyon so far this year, says Nan Stricklin, who issues the permits. We get
people from London to New Zealand. I just had a call from a wedding consultant in Australia who

Theme Of Theseus Theme
The theme of Theseus is betrayal. Our fellow hero, Theseus abandoned Ariadne, even when she
helped him complete his expedition. She even brought in an architect that built the labyrinth to
help. Theseus finally defeats the beast. He fulfills his promise and takes Princess Ariadne with
him. They stop by an island called Naxos. Princess Ariadnefalls asleep and Theseusditches her and
leave. This is a sign of betrayal. Princess Ariadne went through a lot for Theseus and he leaves her
on an island? That s just harsh. In my opinion, he basically used her to get to the beast. He used her
to complete his mission. Another sign of betrayal is when Theseus banishes his son, Hippolytus
from Athens. Theseus wife Phaedra, (Ariadne s sister) had madly

climate is not much different from ours, besides that their winters are a bit colder, and there
summers are a tad bit cooler. Hutchinson is big on cattle ranching, often they rely on that to keep
their economy stable. Hutchinson has made huge discoveries of oil, which has overall made the
county important to Texas, and made it very valuable. Even in some cases, people moved to
Hutchinson just to work on oil establishments. Hutchinson County is actually a very well known

  • 2. Lung Cancers And Its Effects INTRODUCTION What are lung cancers? Lung cancers are the abnormal cells which grow in uncontrolled manner in one or both lungs. They do not function as normal lung cells and do not develop into healthy lung tissue. The abnormal cells can grow, form tumours and interfere with the normal functions of the lung (Lungcancer.org, 2015). Lung cancers can be divided into two major types, namely non small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancers (SCLC). NSCLC can be further classified into three main subtypes, namely adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma (Longo Harrison, 2012). Lung cancers can be diagnosed by chest X ray, computerised tomography (CT) scan, positron emission tomography computerised tomography (PET CT) scan, bronchoscopy and biopsy (Nhs.uk, 2015). Unfortunately, lung cancers are often diagnosed at the later stages. This is due to the unrecognisable symptoms and warning signs at the earlier stages. NSCLC are often diagnosed at stage IV which accounts for 30 40% of cases whereas 60% of SCLC is diagnosed at stage IV. Lung cancerusually originates from the cells lining the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli. Carcinogens especially tobacco smoke will alter the gene expression of the normal human lung cells, resulting in cell mutation. The proto oncogenes will be converted to mutated form, oncogenes. Mutation leads to the decreased expression of the tumour suppressor genes. This results in uncontrolled cell proliferation, cell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Years after 1950, Karen is reflecting about the time they had spent together. The Eve I came to discover has insatiable ambition and disregard for kindness that of which I have never seen in my life. It all started that drizzly night, she didn t seem to be there, waiting for Margo Channing as she usually did. Strange, never had I seen such devotion toward someone, even a charismatic and dramatic star like Margo. It was almost odd not to see her, funny how odd behaviours become normal when repeated. I remember she approached me, pitifully walking out of a dark doorway, she began to ask about Margo and Bill and Lloyd. I was amazed, never had I seen seemingly genuine love and devotion for someone as she did. How I did not see through the deliberate ethos and modesty of the girl is beyond me. From the first moment this tongue tied gushing fan seemed in love with the theatre, something that she frequently alluded to. We all should have seen, her interest was not on Margo, it was on the theatre and all its applause. Soon after taking her in to see Margo, she told her life story. We were transfixed, it seemed tragic and it sent Margo to tears. Only Birdy saw through the lies that Eve told. Birdy was right and retrospectively it does seem unrealistic that she would have everything but the blood hounds snapping at her rear end . She then became Margo s personal assistant, I remember thinking what a helpful and genuine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Figurative Language In The Jungle By Richard Connell Richard Connell uses figurative language in the story to add richness and spark by using metaphors and similes. Part of the American Culture is slang which is metaphors and similes. It s just how we talk and communicate. Even in a story with a scary, mysterious type of mood we can still have slang. I will explain some of the metaphors and similes throughout the story and how they add the richness the story s needs. When Richard Connell quotes trying to peer through the dank tropical night that was palpable as it pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht. , he uses the key phrases such as pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht . This key phrase is showing a detailed way to say that it was getting dark and into the night. People And The Thai Born Talent That Hit The Fashion Runway Thailandese Americans and the Thai born Talent that Struck the Fashion Runway Within the last few decades, there has been a great influx of Asians who have migrated to the United States. In 1985, Asian immigrants made up less than half of the total immigrant population, many of which have settled in New York City and California. The selective phenomenon known as migration has been impelled by the demographic, economic, social and psychological attributes of the location (Desbarats 305). Unlike the low rate of workers, there is an increasing number of Thai youngsters, in keeping with the national tradition of openness to Western influences (Desbarats 306). It was believed that education through the United States would lead to professional success. Student visas were only obtained if the student had financial support as well as the incentive to go back to Thailand usually in the form of financial ties with their home country (Desbarats 307). Many immigrants found themselves burdened by the conditions of living in the states. The financial and psychological struggles were not worth it when immigrants were risking to construct networks, maintain homeland ties and, ensure that remittances reach families left behind (Barkan 19). Immigrants who stay in the states try to balance assimilation to the dominant American culture while still want to feel a sense of their homeland. They try to make a connection whether it be through food, familiar neighbors or the knowledge of language and dance which gets lost in the later generations. • 7. The Establishment Of The European Union ( Eu ) How significant has been the development of the EU s policies concerning the protection of the natural environmental and climate change? What problems have confronted policy makers in framing and delivering such policies? Introduction The establishment of the European Union (EU) enabled them to handle transnational activities among the member states, including environmental policy. Its significance situates within its powers which can manage any other organisations among the member states by virtue of the laws within the European Union (Baker, 1996, p.215). As a result, it is broadly perceived that there is an increasing impact from the EU on policy making in the member states. This tendency is particularly recognised in environmental policy makings, because national standards in law needed to be questioned and harmonised and policy developments at the European level influences the national aims, content and settings of environmental policy within the member states (Heinelt et al., 2001). The area of environmental policy was not established until the first Environmental Action Programme in 1973 as the major aim for the European Economic Community s agenda was to build a common institutional framework for mostly economic issues (Jorgensen, 2012). In the next decades, the development of the area of environmental policy making was accelerated by the the Single European Act and by the support from the public who tends to have an increasing concern towards environmental ... • 9. Foreshadowing and Dramatic Irony in Death and the Maiden Foreshadowing is the warning or the indication that something else is going to happen later on in the story. In Death and the Maiden, Ariel Dorfman uses this literary device to the maximum, exploring all the different ways he can make the reader predict or foresee what s going to happen next. However, Dorfman also takes on the audience s ideas and implements dramatic irony, giving the plot a twist of events and making the audience question themselves and their own theories as to why the character acts that way or why the author set things as they are. Dorfman takes the idea of dramatic irony when referring to the characters and their roles in the play. The greatest contrast in the play is between Paulina and Gerardo. Paulina Salas, a ... Ironically, later she refers to him as my little man , contrasting with how he called her, and making sure that Gerardo knows that he is her husband, and she s in charge. Furthermore, Dorfman shows the dramatic irony in the gender roles once Paulina finds out about Doctor Miranda and gets the gun. At the beginning of the play, the gun was a sign of safety and security, and by the climax, she uses the gun to manipulate Roberto and Gerardo to do what she wants, and what she thinks is fair . GERARDO: Paulina, I m asking you to please give me that gun. PAULINA: No. GERARDO: While you point it at me, there is no possible dialogue. PAULINA: On the contrary, as soon as I stop pointing it at you, all dialogue will automatically terminate. If it put it down, you ll use your strength to win the argument. • 12. Masculinity In The Fight Club I am planning to write about the 1999 film Fight Club directed by David Fincher. This movie is about a nameless insomniac office worker (the narrator) who has became, as he views, a slave to consumer culture. He begins attending support groups for diseases he doesn t have to subdue his emotional state, and he begins to sleep again. He meets Marla Singer, another fake attendee of support groups, she is an incredibly mysterious woman who is obviously a bit crazy, yet the narrator seems drawn to her. On a flight for his job, the narrator meets the character Tyler Durden, a hip, stylish man who sells soap for a living. When the narrator s apartment blows up, he calls Tyler and begins to live with him. The two start a men only underground fight club, which takes the place of the narrators attendance of support groups in emotional aid. However the two men soon spiral out of control, battling for the love of Marla and power. The narrator finds out that Tyler has turned the fight club into an anti capitalism domestic terrorist group called Project Mayhem and Tyler is planning on blowing up credit card companies to reset debt. The narrator however realizes that Tyler was created from his imagination and him and Tyler are the same person. The narrator manages to stop Tyler and his plan to end debt. I wanted to focus on two main points, one being the messages of masculinity in the film and the other the anti consumer messages it sends. I wonder what effect this movie has had on ... One famous influential philosopher was John Locke. Locke was born in England in the mid 17th century and lived through both the English Civil War and the Glorious Revolution. In Smith s mind, people work to supplement their own lives, and when people seek individual economic gain then they unexpectedly promote society and stimulate the economy subconsciously. David Lee came on board and thought the brother s last name sounded cool, and the rock group Van Halenwas born. On one particular show, Gene Simmons from Kiss caught Van Halen at the local gig. He offered to help them out. Gene Simmons flew Van Halen to New York to tape a demo and introduced them to the Kiss production management. They had no interest in Van Halen citing that there was no commercial value to Van Halen, so the band went back to their local gigs in California. During a show in Hollywood, Warner Brothers records representative Ted Templeman saw their act and signed them less than a week later for a record deal with the Warner brother s label. They headed out on the road immediately and caught up with Warner Brothers headliners to open their shows. • 16. George Orwell Politics And The English Language Language is the network of communication in thought, spoken words, and written verse. It is structural and formed through the development and adaptions of human beings. As art itself, language takes the configuration of the world and conveys itself in a diverse manner. Although, some persons argue that language shall be strictly followed and contain no modifications for that ruins the sole purpose of language being our system of disclosure. George Orwell, in his text Politics and the English Language, delivers a message of traditional English being taken further from its roots and changed into something harsh and inadequate. On the other hand, there s the more lenient and open author, James Baldwin, who in his text, If Black English isn t a Language, Then Tell me, What is? , delivers a cry of despair for the language that has grown as its own from his culture and background. Thus, both Orwell and Baldwin have similar and different outlooks on the perception of language and how it should be presented in thought and literature. To begin with their differences, Orwell expounds on the faults of English language when written constructively. In his text, Politics and the English Language , he pleads with his concerns about modern writers and their writing structure through a haughty and conservative perspective. To this author, language and writing is incorrigible. For instance, in the text he states, In certain kinds of writing, particularly in art criticism and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Other stock markets around the world: LSE (England), MSE (Canada), HKEX (Hong Kong), etc. Every company needs to raise money, so usually companies borrow it from somebody like other companies and banks, or they can selling part of the company, which is known as issuing stock. Through this process, a private company transform into a public company. This leads us to the secondary offering. Secondary offering is the sale of new stocks to the public from a company that has already made its IPO. We know the reason companies want to issue stocks, but why do people want to buy stock? The main reason for people to invest in stocks is for capital appreciation or to maximize their own wealth. They want to increase their money value over times. Throughout the course of history, several authoritarian leaders have risen to power and maintained their acquired power through physical, violent means. Two authoritarian leaders that have transformed their acquired power into dictatorial rights are Fidel Castro of Cuba and Augusto Pinochet of Chile. The Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth is a combination medium that contains peptone, glucose, and a phosphate buffer that produce proteins, fermentable carbohydrates, and a consistent pH level (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). The Methyl Red test uses the Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer broth to determine if an organism produces stable or unstable acid by performing a mixed acid fermentation of glucose. If an organism produces a stable acid, it is positive for executing the mixed acid fermentation which then lowers the pH level in the broth to 4.4 and turns it red. Unstable acids convert to neutral products and the broth will stay yellow or turn orange, both indicate a negative mixed acid fermentation (Leboffe, Microbiology Laboratory Theory and Application). Marie de France, supposed author of the series of Lais, recounts her stories through short texts, which are centered on women and their place in the 12th century. There are several supernatural elements throughout her work, which are mainly and explicitly present in Guigemar and Yonec . This can be defined as events or things that cannot be explained by nature or science and that are assumed to come from beyond or to originate from otherworldly forces. It is not however the only narrative device she has used in her written pieces. It is with the combination of the supernatural with the self propelled ship or the transformation of the hawk into a knight, and the natural, the symoblisation of the stick and the rossignol, that Marie de Franceexplores human relations between her characters. The supernatural in Guigemar is evident right from the start when Guigemar s fate is determined by his encounter with the talking doe. Unemployment rate affect spending because the stategovernment will often increase educationspending when unemployment is high. Unemployment is often linked to lower education level and each state government would most likely want to change that aspect of their community. The best way to do that is to create jobs or increase education. This same logic goes for the independent variables percent of poverty level, and black percentage of population. The percentage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Federal aid is a variable that focuses on monetary need to begin with. So it is not surprising that it is correlated with our model. Unemployment is a related factor because when there is high unemployment, the economy of your state is not doing well, so there will be less resources for state funding for schools. After this, we see urbanization is a direct factor. This is because as more people move to cities, the more money funding they have in that area for schools. If you have 5,000 students attending a school, they are going to get more state funding than a school of 50. State spending per pupil on schools overall as a model is very important because the more resources you have per student the more you can teach them. You can get better equipment, better materials, better teachers, the list goes on and on. After looking at which variables were important in our model, we can see that money is the main influencer. Citizens are shaped by the goods and services that are available to them. Any governmental service costs money; therefore a nation s economy and the spending of that money works to shape the sociological core of that nation. But how should that money be spent? One can argue that education spending is important to a nation s well being. During the 19th century US President James Garfield commented that next in importance to freedom and justice is popular education, without which neither freedom nor justice can be permanently maintained (as cited in McPherson, 1912, p.192). Because Godis a loving and merciful God, He established the Noahic Covenant, Abrahamic Covenant, Mosaic Covenant, Davidic Covenant, and the New Covenant that all relate and expand with each other and provides hope for Jews and Christians in the past, today, and future. After God washed the earth of evil by flood (Genesis 5:32 10:1), He created the Noahic Covenant between Noah and his descendants. With accurate clarification to the Noahic Covenant, God makes an unconditional promise to Noah and all descendants that He will never flood the earth again and seals His vow with a rainbow across the clouds. Based on the unconditional promise made, God had no expectations of Noah and his descendants (Genesis 9). Why did God feel the need to generate a bond with Noah and his descendants? His compassion and mercy glorifies through His works and vows. Busenitz highlights God s forgiveness stating, In the Noahic Covenant, God showed His gracious mercy toward all mankind, both redeemed and unredeemed, causing it to rain on the just and the unjust and assuring the ongoing, uninterrupted cycle of seasons (Busenitz, page 10, 1999). Furthermore, one can also grasp that God remains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They both tell the story of a young girl who is transported through time to the 1940 s to learn what it s like to live through the era of the holocaust after she ignores her family heritage. She then dies in that time at the hands of the Nazis and learns why she must remember and tell the future generation about the holocaust. These stories are the same but told in different ways and in different forms. • 44. Investigating the Rate of Reaction Between Marble Chips... Investigating the rate of reaction between Marble Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and hydrochloric acid Aim. In the investigation I am going to find out how the surface area affects the rate of reaction by measuring the amount of gas produced and weight loss in a reaction between small/large pieces of Marble Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and Hydrochloric acid per minute. Hypothesis. The rate of reaction increases when the surface area of a solid reactant is increased. This happens because by increasing the surface area we are also increasing the rate of collisions between the particles. When there is more of the reactant to react with the reaction speeds up. Therefore, my hypothesis is: the reaction will be faster when using small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This increased the accuracy of the obtained results. GRAPH From the table of results and the graphs I can deduce that by increasing the surface area the rate at which the gas was produced also increased. The line which represented the amount of gas given off on the graph was steeper in the test using powder therefore the gas was produced at a faster rate. Roughly the same amount of gas was produced in all tests. Therefore my hypothesis was correct. Evaluation. As I repeated the experiment 3 times and worked out the average rate of reaction in each test, I think my results are quite reliable. However, I could make further improvement by increasing the number of tests and taking the results with a smaller gap such as 10 seconds instead of 20. I could also increase the amount of Calcium Carbonate to more than 2g and keep the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Explain How Technologies Convert Light And Sound Into The... Senior Science Information SystemsChloe Tilley Question 1 Explain what binary code is and describe how technologies convert Light and sound into this code. Binary code is a coding system, which is used in electronics to symbolise a letter or digit using the binary digits 0 and 1. Electric pulses are used to represent 1 s and a lack of pulse to represent 0 s therefore the binary digit 0 represents off and 1 represents on. There are many forms of electronic devices that use binary code as their function, some of the common devices include; cell phones, computers and tablets. These devices only use 0 s and 1 s (on and off) because they only require these 2 digits to send and receive information; therefore they can function without using all digits 1 to 10. Binary code is used in computers as they can only read and store an on or off charge. Light and sound are both methods of communication that can be used as digital or analog signals. The signal that is being sent is converted into a series of pulses that record information using binary code. For example sound and light starts as analog signals and are then converted into digital sound or light signals using binary coding to convert the sound or light... Within both The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley there are various characters that lose their innocence in very dramatic ways. A character can lose their innocence due to the death of someone else. They can also lose their innocence by just being looked at from a different perspective by others, this can be seen through the characters Bernard and Rachel. When someone loses their innocence from the death of another this can very negatively affect the character s emotions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. The Functional Equivalent Of The Border And The Fourth... The functional equivalent of the border and the Fourth Amendment closely tie together in the fact that although the government has the power to conduct warrantless border searches, in the essence of the law, the Fourth Amendment strictly prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures and requires a warrant to be present to conduct the search. Understand when mentioning functional equivalent , this means the final port of entry after persons and property have entered the United States. The Fourth Amendment originally enforced the notion that each man s home is his castle , secure from unreasonable searches and seizures of property by the government. It protects against arbitrary arrests, and is the basis of the law regarding search warrants, stop and frisk, safety inspections, wiretaps, and other forms of surveillance, as well as being central to many other criminal law topics and to privacy law. (Cornell University Law School, 2015) Functional Equivalent border searches can happen under (2) circumstances: (1) the search was immediately conduct after crossing the border and (2) there is no probable cause suggestion tampering. This can have both positive and negative outcomes. Extended border searches are conducted when there is reason to believe that the person and/or property has been compromised and a potential threat to national security has been breached. Ghost Military Mission Command Part Three Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land operations (ADRP 6 0) What does a commander do when all communications with higher command is severed? Combatant commanders cannot cease to operate simply because communications are interrupted. In Ghost Fleet, the Chinese completely disrupt all communications for the American fleet. In beginning of the novel, this cripples the fleet. Lack of orders paralyzes the much needed response to the invasion and attacks. The breakdown of communications cannot stop the fight. Mission command outlines how mission orders set the battlefield for success. Disciplined initiative to continue the mission based on a clear understanding of the commander s intent. In the situation presented in the novel, we are given two examples of this. When the attack at Pearl Harbor begins, most commanders of the fleet freeze with indecision when communications cease. But, despite their clashes on the status and views of imagination, the Romantics and Victorians share similar ideas through different angles of perspective, which we could assume are linked in part to their era. Coleridge s definition of imagination consists of the imagination as the prime agent for all human perception. However, Goblin Market is a story that completely rejects the Romantics ideals of the imagination since it is a Victorian text. Thus, the imagination is shown as something associated with being evil and dangerous, which compliments the Victorian ideals while criticizing the Romantics admiration of the imagination. The initial setting of the tale dwells upon the nature taking evil and satanic forms due to the destructive tone of the imagination that contradicts the Romantic s policy of nature being pure and divine in any form it takes. Basically, the initial setting of the tale takes shape with the aid of local folklore about the mysterious mythical creatures that appear with luscious baskets of fruits. The author builds upon this folklore by distancing the characters, such as Laura and Lizzie, from this weird folk culture by introducing the harm inflicted by these goblins on innocent, gullible young girls. Therefore, the author has already contradicted a central tendency of Romanticism, which is to root their stories in relation to inquisitive adventures regarding folk culture and myths. Furthermore, the term used for these imaginative figures is goblins, which is considered by the Oxford dictionary as a mischievous, ugly, dwarf like creature of folklore (Oxford University). In the next two days this beach will be covered in upwards of 30,000 allied troops and will see some of the bloodiest fighting of the war in the next four months.
