Meditation Treatment Modality Provided By University Of...
In this scholarly paper, I will reflect on meditation treatment modality provided by University of
Minnesota Center for Spirituality and Healing. (2014) and its benefits and opportunities for the older
population and persons with chronic diseases (Chan Larson, 2015). Moreover, I will analyze it in
terms of Barrett s Theory of Power (Barrett, 2010) and CAREE Process (O Brien Lewis, 2016). In
addition, throughout the paper, I will describe my thoughts and feelings regarding meditation and
meditative practices for caring healing holistic nursing.

The beneficial effect of meditation for people with chronic conditions is also proven by Chan Larson
(2015), however, their point of view is that further research on the topic is necessary due to the
inconsistency of the results. After examining the multiple research studies, the authors argue that
meditation may result in significant improvements in anxiety, depression, and chronic disease
symptoms . Furthermore, they state that people with chronic diseases relate more positively with their
body, which is resulting in increased activity levels and improved quality of life (Chan Larson, 2015).
In some studies, the accent was made on improvement that is achieved in perception or acceptance of
a specific symptom when the symptom itself was not changed. Meditation also relieved the
manifestations of multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and peripheral neuropathy (Chan Larson, 2015). In
addition, this complementary treatment modality has the beneficial effects on attention span, sleep
quality and latency, and enhanced well being (Morone, Lynch, Greco, Tindle, Weiner, 2008).
What critique and/or reflection would you make of the module and the author s points considering
your own experience and knowing and the learning you gained from the module on this topic? After
exploring the module and the article, I believe that meditation is especially beneficial for the older

The Techniques Of A Good Design
A good design makes the document attractive and easier to read. This chapter describes some of the
techniques of document design that will make writing more appealing. Some of these techniques are
the choice of paper and print, the use of white space and the ways of formatting headings, lists and
graphs. First, one should use 81/2 x 11 inch, 24 pound, white or off white paper for printout. Also,
using a good printer will give a professional appearance. In any case, it is important to select
appropriate size and font style for a document. Usually one should use 12 size fonts with Times New
Roman for business documents. In addition, one should use white spaces including margins and the
space between sections to give visual appeal. As a general guideline, a paper should have 1 inch
margin for all four sides except for first page, which should have a 2 inch margin. Moreover, for any
document that is single spaced, it is better to use double space between paragraphs. Finally, sloppiness
in a document is unprofessional. Hence, one should always read a final hard copy, as it is possible for
printing error to appear on printed page but not on a computer screen. Next, formatting makes paper
attractive and easier to read. For a document longer than half page, it is good to use headings. Heading
makes paper less intimidating and provides readers a chance to pause and reflect on what they have
read. It also allows readers to preview the contents of a document by reading the headings

Steve Wozniak s Journey to Creating Apple Computers Essay
Steve Wozniak was the kind of person who liked to tell jokes and pull pranks at the schools he
attended. During high school, he decided he wanted to become an engineer. He graduated with honors
from Homestead High School, California in 1968. He tried to convince his family to send him to
Colorado University for the engineering program, but his family encouraged him to go to a nearby
community college in California instead. After going to the community college to register for classes,
he found out that the calculus, physics, and chemistry classes he wanted to attend were all full. So
Steve went back to his parents to tell them the news, and they agreed to send him to Colorado
University for his first year of college. He was not a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1971, he and his friend Bill Hernandez designed a pretty good computer and his mother was
impressed. She contacted a local newspaper company to do a report on it. They were very excited to
explain the operation and specs to the reporter, but that is not how it happened. When the reporter
came to see the computer, they started the computer up and the blinking lights came on. After that,
someone stepped on the power cord, which caused the computer to start smoking, and then stopped
working. He left quickly and only wrote a small article on it. Steve Wozniak decided it was time to
choose a school based on its engineering program. He chose to go to the University of California at
Berkeley, because it was one of the best. This is where he met the most important friend, Steve Jobs.
He was five years younger than Wozniak and still attending Homestead high school. But they had
many things in common, including the same first name, the love of pranks, and computers. Before
starting his fourth year of college, Steve Wozniak decided he needed to get a job again. He looked
through the newspaper and found a position as an electronics technician at Electroglass. His duty was
to test electronics equipment all day long. He loved the job, but found a better one through his old pal
Allen Baum. Allen was working at Hewlett Packard, an electronics company in Palo Alto., CA. In
1973 Allen introduced Steve to a few of the engineers there. H P offered Wozniak a job

Compare And Contrast Toddlers And Teenagers
Toddlers and teenagers, when it comes to these two there are both similarities and differences. They
both are similar because they need structure, their moody and emotions, they strive for independence,
and they are always taking risks. There are also some differences between the two because of the way
you have to communicate with them, discipline, and how much attention is needed to each one. When
it comes to the two, all of these differences contribute to ho they grow up. Each child is different in
their own way, and so are the technics of how you interact with them.
Toddlers and teenagers can be so moody and emotional. The reason for this is because toddlers are
still growing, and so is their brain. They can t express how they feel therefore they react in the only
way they know how and that is through emotion. They rely on emotion to communicate. If they are
tired, hungry, sick, and or possibly need to be changed they cry, or become extremely cranky.
Teenagers are moody and emotional because they are going through so much change. Their hormones
are going crazy and they are also in school with a lot of other kids and they tend to act like the people
they are around. They are moody sometimes for no reason.
Independence is what both want. Toddlers strive to do things on their own even though they cannot.
They want to brush their teeth, get dressed, or walk to class alone. Teenagers want independent,
because they are at the age where they will eventually become a young

The Loved One
Waugh s satirical novel, The Loved One, follows the lives of Dennis Barlow, an Englishman, and
Aimée Thanatogenos and Mr. Joyboy Americans each a mortician in his or her own regard. Through
his satirical style, characterization and setting, and abrupt transitions, Waugh comments on the self
serving tendencies of humans and the drastic consequences those can have. Through the interactions
of Englishmen and Americans, Waugh depicts the cultural differences between those from his home
country of England and America. Finally, set against the backdrop of two cemeteries, Waugh entangles
death in each character s lives, with many encountering it or succumbing to it throughout the course of
the novel. Waugh fixation on death is not limited to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barlow is established as the selfish character, and his response to Thanatogenos death is no exception.
Barlow takes advantage of the fact that Thanatogenos was last engaged to Joyboy. His repeated use of
your creates a tone of seriousness, but also reinforces the fact that he has completely shifted the blame,
along with his feelings for Thanatogenos off to Joyboy. Additionally, prior to meeting with Joyboy,
Barlow is confronted by Abercrombie and is asked by the Cricket Club to leave for England, all
expenses paid. Regardless, taking advantage of Joyboy s need to explain the disappearance of
Thanatogenos, Barlow demands the expenses needed to create a cover up in which he and
Thanatogenos elope to England. Joyboy, his career threatened and his love gone, accepts and
surrender s his life savings to Barlow. Waugh makes Barlow s demands forceful and dispassionate,
further distancing himself from Thanatogenos and making the reader wonder whether his love was
genuine, a sentiment which was brought into question frequently. Finally, Barlow is seen as the greedy
opportunist throughout the novel. He stays true to his character until the end of the story, essentially
conning Joyboy out of his money. Waugh ends the novel in the same cynical style he employs for the
majority of the novel, using his cynicism and satire to show how greedy

Brian s Three Survival Strategies
Have you ever crashed in the wilderness and had to survive all alone? Well a boy named Brian did.
That 13 year old boy survived because of these three survival strategies. The three strategies are being
observant, planning ahead, and using his hatchet. Those strategies and the way Brian used them are
what you will read about.
The first strategy Brian used was being observant. One way Brian was observant was when he noticed
something bad was going to happen, and it did. Brian was in the water looking for fish for food then
all of the sudden he feels something weird is about to happen. Brian stands there for a few seconds,
and out of the sudden this moose comes and attacks him. After being attacked by a moose a tornado
hit destroying everything he made. Another way Brian was observant was when he was catching the
fool birds. He was having a hard time trying to catch them. He noticed that instead of trying to see
their colors you need to look for their shape. After realizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Brian used planning ahead as a survival strategy when he knew he would need food to survive, so the
night before he planned ahead to do so. The next day Brian got up and saw birds so he went to see if
they would lead him to food and they did. Another way Brian planned ahead was when he needed fire
wood. Brian woke up one day and the fire was very low, and he knew he would need more fire would
to keep the fire going. He went out and got enough wood not only to keep up the fire but to have wood
for the next day. And from that day on he got extra wood every morning. Brian also planned ahead
when he thought about the survival pack. Brian remembered he saw the survival pack in the plane. He
knew it would help him a lot so he went to the plane a few days after he thought about it. Those are all
ways Brian used planning ahead or being proactive as a survival strategy. The last strategy that helped
Brian survive was using his

Sea Otters Research Paper
Sea otters are a keystone species, meaning their role in their environment has a greater effect than
other species. As predators, sea otters are critical to maintaining the balance of the near shore kelp
ecosystems. Without sea otters, the undersea animals they prey on would devour the kelp forests off
the coast that provide cover and food for many other marine animals. Additionally, sea otters
indirectly help to reduce levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, a prevalent greenhouse gas, as kelp
forests play an important role in capturing carbon in coastal ecosystems

But due to the fur trade, worldwide numbers plummeted down to a total of 1,000 2,000 in the early
1900s. Today, there are estimated to be just over 106,000 worldwide, with just under 3,000 in
California.
HABITAT RANGE
Sea otters live in shallow coastal waters off the northern Pacific. Their historic range stretched from
Japan, along the coast of Siberia and the Aleutian Chain and down the Alaska, British Columbia,
Washington, Oregon and California coast to Baja California. Currently sea otters can be found in
Canada, Russia, Japan, California and Washington, but the majority of all wild sea otters are found in
Alaskan waters. Recent reports of sea otter sightings have also occurred in Mexico.
In the U.S., there are two distinct sea otter subspecies, the Northern sea otter (Enhydra lutris kenyoni)
and the Southern sea otter (Enhydra lutris nereis). Northern sea otters are found in the Aleutian
Islands, Southern Alaska, British Columbia, and Washington. Southern sea otters, also known as
California sea otters, live in the waters along the California coastline and range from San Mateo
County in the north to Santa Barbara County in the

The Pregnancy Outreach And Birth Mothers
For my cultural plunge, I decided to sit in at a birth mothers care group for women who decided to
give their child or children up for adoption. This care group is one of many care groups held by Crisis
Pregnancy Outreach. Crisis Pregnancy Outreach, or CPO is a nonprofit organization assisting women
in crisis, such as those experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Their main mission is to help woman find
alternate solutions to unplanned pregnancies that do not result in abortion.
Each week women gather at Christian Chapel, a church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to meet with mentors to
discuss what they endured that week. There are several different care groups. The most attended
groups are the parenting and birth mothers groups. I decided to sit in at a birth mothers group, which
was uncomfortable for me. This care group is held for birth mothers who have gave their child or
children up for adoption. Some of the birth mothers experience open adoption, meaning they have
some form of communication with their birth children. Although some birth mothers obtain closed
adoptions, where they have no communication with their birth children.
This experience was very eye opening for me. I cannot relate to any of these women because I have no
children, nor am I a product of adoption. It was truly amazing to hear each of their testimonies. One
story that stood out to me was of a woman that was around my age, and decided to place her son for
adoption. At the time when she placed him, she was

occupied Poland for business pursuits. He grew up the son of a businessman and a Catholic mother in

the amount of time he invested in his work and his social lifestyle. Oskar was not much of a political

But worst of all, if there was no shame, it meant there was official sanction (Keneally 1993). After a
chemist named Bachner escaped from a death camp and exposed the Nazis usage of gas chambers, the
sympathy for the Jews increased, including Schindler who now believed that he must work against the
Nazis. He continued to hire Jews at his factory until Nazi SS Commandant Amon Goeth was put in
charge of closing the Krakow ghetto by sending 2,000 Jewish inhabitants to Auschwitz and
transporting 10,000 to a camp in Plaszow. Schindler began having thoughts to himself about the
treatment of the Jews, such as if God made man in His image, which race is most like Him? Is a Pole
more like Him than a Czech? (Keneally 1993). The ghetto was closed and all the Jews were moved
but Schindler managed to have his Jewish workers cleared to travel to his factory. Plaszow was worse
than the ghetto, as many died from sickness, exhaustion, or just killed for sport by Goeth, who
oversaw the camp. Schindler sought out permission to build his own sub camp near his factory, and
although it looked the same as the Plaszow camp, the Jews are treated more humanely. Schindler
encouraged his friends Itzhak Stern and German photographer, Raimund Titsch to expose the truth of

and possible treatment for the disorders. Essentially, psychopathology encompasses three aspects that

Observably, the disorder mostly treated and cured by the traditional medicine in the culture. Cultural
bound syndromes can either cause somatic complains, or can be simply behavioral with no connection
to any effect on the body parts. On the other hand, researchers may choose to suggest that cultural
based syndromes represent behaviors that may be acceptable in certain regions (Wilkinson 2000).
Conversely, this disorders maybe highly disregarded in other areas. Ataque De Nervios Ataque De
Nervios is an example of cultural bound syndrome among the Hispanics. Illustratively, the disorder is
characterized by crying hysterically, rickety, out of control shouting, physical and verbal violence, and
an extreme high temperature in the chest. Ostensibly, the disorder is said to be as result of attacks by
evil spirits and demonic visitations. In essence, the symptoms are associated with stressful events such
as the death of a loved one, a traumatic experience involving a loved one, divorce, or separation of in
a marriage union. In this regard, this syndrome is only unique among the Hispanics, in other regions it
may be viewed as a normal way of venting out anger. The Diathesis Stress Model In principle, this
theory seeks to explain behavior as a predisposition vulnerability that is coupled up by experiences
that are stresses in life. The model takes consideration of the psychological, biological, and situational

Stars By Richard Dyer Summary And Analysis
Stars are the faces we see and admire on television. We as a society see stars and immediately want to
experience what they experience and we want to understand them. We see stars as superficial beings.
We see the roles they play in movies and television and only the major things that producers want us
to see. Richard Dyer, film critic and author of Stars asserts that stars are constructed to an audience so
they can relate to them and easily identify with them.We connect to the star based on a feature that we
admire or share. This development from an admiration to an idolization pushes an attempt to replicate
what society admires in the star. This can either be a positive role or negative role. For example, for
someone who admires Leonardo DiCaprio, they might want to donate to his foundation supporting the
economy and climate change. While others may idolize and want to behave like Lindsay Lohan and
experiment with drugs. This skews what teenagers and kids see as cool . Many of the reasons why
young women want to appear thin is because of the stars we see on television. Many female stars have
an hourglass shape to them, large breasts, flat stomach, and wide hips. If one were to google the
perfect body, studies about how we view the perfect body arise, as well as an article about the perfect
Kardashian body and how to get one are the first links that appear. Richard Dyer presents an idea in
his book Stars that examines the social types of stars. He analyzes their indigenous role in how society
functions through the history of film production. Dyer describes the characteristics of stardom as
ordinariness, success, love, and consumption. Ordinariness is sought for in the eyes of stars because
that is necessary to relate to the public. If society viewed stars as another species or not human, no one
would have the desire to be a star and they would become unrelatable. High school students have been
utilizing the idea of #relatable or #me for years because generally, people have the aspiration to relate
to others. Neil Patrick Harris got married three years ago to David Burtka, and three years later he
made a post expressing his joy and gratitude that he was able to marry the love of his life. The

nineteenth century, Bonaparte was a ruler of France. Yet, as soon as the young general of France took
rule, the French Revolution was speculated to have ceased. Also, Bonaparte is suspected to be either a
democrat or dictator this period of time. Not only did the army general rise to have rulership;

From the beginning of Bonaparte s education of military, Bonaparte demonstrated his rapid ability to
comprehend war tactics; and graduated early from military school. As Bonaparte ascended to

positive outcomes from his reign such as dissemanating the construtive outcomes of the French
Revolution. At the beginning of the Napoleonic Wars, there were many accomplishments for the
French, but in the Hundred Days War is when Bonaparte demonstrates weakness. Bonaparte
demonstrates weakness by attempting to retreat to France uknowingly, but Bonaparte was found by
the people of France as unredeemable and was then exiled. Due to the Napoleonic Wars, France was
put into an army and financial deficit. Through the actions of Bonaparte, one can determine if
Bonaparte was a dictator or democrat, since Bonaparte operated many dictatorial or democratic

Islamic Law And Islamic Banking
Forty years ago, the Islamic banking industry was created, on a modest scale, to fill a gap in a banking
system that was not listening to the fervent Muslim believers. Morocco has been following the same
development in offering Islamic finance services to its citizens through Islamic windows in
conventional banks. In parallel to this development of the Islamic financial industry in Morocco, it
seems very crucial to evaluate critically based on Maliki law school the previous experience of Islamic
windows in conventional banks. Taking into considerations, the differences between schools in the
interpretation and implementation of Islamic law in economy life, the objective of this paper was to

College Is Not Only Just A Time For Education
College is not only just a time for education. It is also a time for fellowship and time to establish
relationships. Half of the time spent with others takes place on campus in the dorms, the other half,
elsewhere. Visitation is a huge part of the everyday life of a college student. Everyone has friends,
they want to come visit them, some of the same sex and others of the opposite. Being that Charleston
Southern is a parochial college their visitation policy is stricter than those of a regular college. There is
nothing wrong with a Christian school having its limits upon this subject, but it should only go so far.
After all, it is still a college. It is clearly understood as to why the visitation policy was put into place.
Charleston Southern is a Christian college, and it should portray Christian values in every aspect of
the university. I think it is important for college students to have their freedom but it is also important
to uphold the school s expectations. Claflin University brought up this topic to their board. The
students asked the board about their reasons for strict visitation. The longtime argument for it has been
that students will not be able to fully prepare for exams and study for class if visitation is expanded to
members of the opposite sex. The interpretation students have had of the policy relates to the belief
that the administration fears students will only be interested in sexual relations if a more liberal
visitation policy is put into place

Benefits and Pitfalls of Short-selling Shares
Benefits and pitfall of short selling
Short selling is the borrowing of shares in companies whose market value is believed to go down. The
sellers gain profit when they buy back the shares at a lower price (Investopedia, n.d.). The benefits of
short selling include facilitating market efficience, driving down overprice shares, increasing liquidity
of stock markets and exposing financial fraud. The CFA Institute believes that short selling enables
participants to quickly and accurately adjust securities prices to reflect investor opinions about
valuations (Smith, 2012), hence improving marketing efficiency. It also shortens the time taken to
discover corporate misconduct and predict firms who will be involved in financial misconduct (Foster,
2009).
However, short selling has its limitation as well. Firstly, it has detrimental effect which weakens
investors confidence in financial markets. It gives rise to short term market volatility and cause severe
damage to investors confidence when share prices decline. Secondly, there is an unlimited risk
involved as there is no limit to the amount of money the short seller can lose, the price of the share can
increase forever (IG, n.d.). Lastly, the companies involved would need to preserve their reputation and
pay for the negative publicity with higher funding costs (Smith, 2012).

happens in the book. When this happened the wolves had to adapt to the new caribou migratory

If you place the lead on him before he calms down, you are simply reinforcing their excited behavior
with a reward, the lead itself. Please be patient, this could go on for awhile but just keep at it until you
can get him into a calm state and are able to put the leash on him. He ll get it eventually.
The exact same thing is occurring as you begin to walk out the door and is dragging and barging their
way through first and then pulling you down the garden trail. All of this is getting your dog more and
more excitable. Once they hit the end of your garden, they will be going at full speed dragging you in
the process.
This same calming technique can be duplicated before you ever open that door. You either wait calmly
with your pooch on the leash by the door till they are calm before advancing or take the leash off and
postpone the walk for a couple of minutes.
It may look like you re getting no where quickly, however, it s much better to take some time getting
this sorted now or you re going to be dragged around the streets for the next 10 years. This issue will
not self correct .
Now step 2 is an easy exercise that involves you reversing your step when your dog pulls ahead.
2. Change direction.
Before you begin your walk watch which direction your pet is leading you. If they desire to go right,
then you turn and take a step to the left and repeat this till they are in fact paying attention to what you
are doing. Make certain

La Llorona Loc The Other Side Essay
At the start of La Llorona Loca: The Other Side, Palacios describes growing up when her mother
would tell her scary stories about Llorona Loca. In the first paragraph we see a common theme or
image found in the Latinx cannon: the image of motherhood and tradition. Palacios mother s retelling
follows the traditional narrative of La Llorona Loca retelling in which a woman, traditionally a
mother, drowns her children and then feels remorse. Although many authors would choose to further
develop on this image, Palacios through her reflection on her up brining demonstrates opposing views
to the dominant ideology, in the way in which she critiques these societal expectations of women. As
the story continues, Palacios articulates a critique of gender roles and expectations demonstrated
through the following lines of her mothers La Llorona retelling: The story also states that, as she
wailed, she wore a long white gown. (49). The primary reason that this particular line is so important
is that it is the first demonstration of a change of tone from our author. In the beginning lines, the
author appears to be reflective, whereas in this line she demonstrates sarcasm. There is also particular
imagery of the white dress, which has a lot of cultural/ideological symbolism. The color the dress,
particularly its whiteness, symbolisms virginity/purity, both common attributes placed upon the Latinx
body. A critical eye could view the color of the dress in the La Llorona retelling as a

Essay On Bunny
Scooter was the first pet of my very own besides having a few pet fish. I remember walking into the
small pet store in Forest Grove and making our way to the back There a cage sat, my mom and I both
looked at each other and gushed about the cuteness in the cage. Inside, were about 5 rabbits that were
going crazy, bouncing off the walls of the two story metal cage. My eyes instantly fell on the two
bunnies that were a honey brown color. The other bunnies were white with black spots all over but the
brown ones took my interest. I had a perfect fantasy planned out, the golden brown rabbit with floppy
ears will be mine and I ll name her Bunbun. This was in my mind the vision of a perfect little bunny.
After relentless bagging and a few tears, my parents agreed to let me have a bunny. To this day, I still
remember how excited I was. My mom and I entered the pet store and I immediately ran to the back
towards the cage. There was a single brown bunny left. My mom went up to the clerk and asked to put
a hold on the last brown bunny. We had to get all the supplies and a cage before we could just bring
her home. After buying everything that was necessary and more, we returned to the pet store. I
remember clearly how much the bunny cost, only $35 dollars. The clerk walked to the cage with a
cardboard carrier. As he opened the cage, the little brown rabbit ran up to the second floor and stood
up tall. I grinned widely walking out of that pet store carrying the carrier. I could feel

Electrical Submersible Pump Analysis and Design
Case Services, Inc.
Abstract
Case Services software provides production optimization for a variety of different methods of artificial
lift. This paper discusses the dominant factors in electrical centrifugal submersible pump design and
monitoring. Emphasis is placed on three areas: Well inflow performance behavior. Fluid Pressure
Volume Temperature and phase behavior. Pump equipment performance specifications.
An examination of fluid dynamics within a centrifugal pump provides appreciation for the need to
analyze the pump one stage at a time. The importance of individual pump testing is also identified.
This paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, it is crucial to analyze pump performance based on a known good condition. Experience
has shown that each serialized pump demonstrates unique performance data. Therefore, a factory
pump test should be obtained before the pump is installed in a well. The data from this test can be
used throughout the equipment life for accurate performance analysis. This discussion is limited to
conventional applications of centrifugal pumps specifically excluding: Pumps installed below the
producing formation. Downhole gas separation. Variable frequency drive considerations.
Focus is placed upon the pump itself. The downhole motor is discussed only in passing. Steady state
operation (no pump cycling) is also assumed.

The Basics
This section describes the formulas that are the basis for the csSubmersible suite s calculations. When
employing any pumping method, optimum artificial lift is achieved only when the pump is closely
matched to the well s ability to produce fluids. This is especially true with centrifugal pumping.
Before the pump design process can even begin, an accurate model of the well s inflow performance
must be developed.
How Much Will It Make?

Summary Of The Construction Of Ghetto
In the article The Construction of the Ghetto by Massey and Denton, there are several policies and
practices that still has its effect on racial structure today. Among the several practices and policies are
the Government Issue (GI) Bill for veterans and housing loans. At a political view, the GI Bill for
veterans helped them buy houses at a lower price due to their contribution in the war. Since White
veterans have the GI Bill, they moved out to the suburbs during 1940 1970, which was during the time
of suburbanization. Because Black veterans did not receive the GI Bill, they were unable to move out
and buy houses. This effect is still present today, considering that in the statistics, Blacks are less
likely than Whites to own houses.

The Wanderer And The Wife s Lament Analysis
The Wanderer and The Wife s Lament Journal
In this week, the document that I read is The Wanderer and The Wife s Lament. While reading this
document, I was surprised by the husband s action that he abandoned his wife in his heartache.
The reason that the woman and her husband married was to make peace instead of love; however, they
still loved each other after marrying and swore that nothing could separate them excepted the death
(Anonymous 114). For me, the husband abandoned his wife because of his relative s hostility to her
and the principle of the feudal society at that time (Anonymous 114). I do not agree with that action. If
he loved her, he had to trust her and protect her. Besides that, the women in the society of Old English

Procter amp; Gamble: A Case Study Analysis
Abstract
Procter amp; Gamble is a consumer goods company that began in 1837 and has grown to be a leader
of its industry. It has over 800 brands worldwide, 25 of which generate more than 1 billion dollars in
sales, including Tide, Downy, Always, Oral B, Crest, Gillette, Febreze, Swiffer, and Duracell.
However, in the last 10 years, P amp;G has experienced a loss of sales. Through an analysis of the
company and its history, its visions and goals, a SWOT analysis, and the Porter s Five Forces Model,

Through the 9 years of Lafley s leadership, P amp;G updated all of its 200 brands by adding
innovative new products (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, amp; McNamara, 2014, pg. C199), including a
battery powered brush called Tide StainBrush, and creating new products, like Crest White Strips.
Lafley also changed the belief that all new and innovative products had to be created within Procter
amp; Gamble, stressing that many new products should be created elsewhere. This Connect and
Develop model of innovation allowed the company to get almost 50 percent of its new product ideas
from outside the firm (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, amp; McNamara, 2014, pg. C199).Along with
continued innovation, Lafley also pushed for P amp;G to move away from basic consumer products
such as laundry detergents , which can easily be knocked off by private labels, to higher margin
products (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, amp; McNamara, 2014, pg. C199). This included the acquisition of
Gillette, Clairol, and Wella, as well as offering designer fragrances through license agreements.
When Lafley stepped down as CEO of P amp;G in 2009, he left McDonald with some problems,
including some beyond his control, such as the recession of 2008. Some of these issues include the
lack of blockbuster ideas from the Connect and Develop program (however, this program did help to

Treatment Plan
Introduction Fritscher (2011) postulates that a treatment plan may be formal or it may consist of
informal handwritten notes. This is largely dependent on the documentation required by the agency or
facility and all the other parties involved. However, regardless of its format, Fritscher (2011) states
that the treatment plan should always be subject to change as the case progresses. According to
Vrouvas (2013), a treatment plans can work as a mean of providing clients with guidelines that may
foster moral support, provide incentive and offer practical solutions for dealing with adversity. This
paper will describe a treatment plan and how it will be presented to the client. The paper will also
make specific reference to Brittany. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, since Brittany s treatment plan was developed in consultation with her, the level of
resistance should be minimal.
Therefore, through formal and informal discussion, the client will be notified of the finalized
treatment plan and specific focus will be placed on the objectives of the plan. It would also be
acceptable to present a written copy of the treatment plan to the client. In any case, a copy of the
treatment plan should always be available upon the client s request.
Conclusion
Conclusively, Brittany s treatment plan will form an agreement between her and the agency and may
be modified periodically to accommodate the needs of the client. This could prove to be quite
empowering for the client. Therefore, the problem or issues should be clearly identified and the
determined objectives should be both measurable and realistic. In addition, all four parts of the
treatment plan should be jointly related and should therefore reduce all confusions, misunderstandings
and misinterpretations. This is necessary, especial as it relates to the client. Undoubtedly, when the
client and the individuals responsible for facilitating the treatment plan work together cooperatively, it
increases the likelihood of a successful process.

Implementing Mandatory Council Meeting Of All Plc Teams
One thing that is a for certain in education is changes will take place. Education mirrors the world we
live in, and that is, change is inevitable. However, this process is not always accepted by the entire
staff of a school and may be found burdensome to others. As a teacher leader, when certain changes in
the school take place regarding a rule, the entire staff needs to come together to ensure the rule is
being implemented and enforced. One such change that is happening at my school is the once a week
mandatory meeting of all PLC teams. The decision to implement mandatory PLC meetings did not go
over well with all teachers. When a school makes a rule or policy change, there are parts of the
organization, such as the political, human resource, and cultural perspective that feel the effect. I am
part of a vast school district in Texas. I understand that this rule change about PLC meetings came
from school leaders that are higher up in the organizational structure, and moved down the chain of
command from the principals to the teachers. Understanding the structure of an organization is critical
for the organization to move forward (Laureate Education, Inc., 2007). My district believes and
supports the different PLC teams in the school district. At the start of this year, the entire staff was told
by the principal that all PLC teams need to meet once a week, and all minutes of the meeting need to
be documented and emailed to administration. In my opinion, I thought this was

Comparing Anne Frank And Krystyna Chiger
Survival is the act of staying alive. People survive through many different circumstances and
situations, difficult or not. The situations of Anne Frank and Krystyna Chiger were especially difficult.
Both Anne s and Krystyna s situations, which were similar and different, were difficult to survive
through. Firstly, Anne Frank had a difficult time surviving through certain circumstances. Anne Frank
s family and another family, the Van Daans, hid together in a tiny attic because they were in severe
danger just because they were Jewish. There were eight people cramped together, and the situation
was not very pleasant. To survive, Anne Frank had to dream and pretend she was safe and free as well
as working out her emotions by writing in a diary. Another person hiding with Anne, Mrs. Van Daan,
survived a different way. She instead voiced her concerns by arguing, complaining, and critiquing
other people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Krystyna and Anne hid for their safety. They both had hard times surviving and they were both scared.
Anne and Krystyna both imagined being free so they could bear the reality of their situation. They
both had parents and siblings to help them stay alive. However, Anne and Krystyna s stories are both
very different, too. While Anne had great living conditions, with a kitchen and lavatory, Krystyna had
to live in a dirty sewer. Once, Krystyna got a dirty pin stuck in her foot. Anne s food was more varied
when Krystyna s was the same every day, and even got stolen by rats. However, Anne did not have as

A Comparison Of David Hockney And Christopher Isherwood
There are people today, who never realize just how much of a blessing Los Angeles is. This, City of
Angels , is like paradise with its warm sunlight on individuals who each have their own story. People
in this city usually do not have anything to hide, due to affecting and inspiring one another, such as
homosexuals. Other cities in the past, such as London, despised the thought of two people, of the same
sex, engaging in an intimate relationship. Los Angeles however, could not have appeared any more of
a haven to two gay British men, David Hockney and Christopher Isherwood, due to its standard of
living, how the people there had a particular set of beliefs and attitudes, and the gay scene being
different than that of London.
Before Los Angeles, before their successful careers, David Hockney and Christopher Isherwood were
both just two boys from England. Christopher Isherwood, who was born in the year 1904 roughly
thirty years before David Hockney was born was a privileged young boy as he was related to a
country squire. Even though he was privileged, Christopher s family was incomplete due to his distant
parents. With his parents being distant, and having to be sent to boarding school at age 8, it created a
sense of loneliness for Christopher. Luckily, Christopher formed friendships over the years to fill the
void; a couple of his friends being Wynstan Auden and Edward Upward. In 1925, Christopher was

Rape, Violence, And Feminist Networks
There has been a lot of discussion of rape within sociologists, criminologists, and feminist networks.
In my own words, rape is someone engaging with someone else sexually without their consent. Rape
is not strictly vaginal penetration, nor an exclusive heterosexual only act. If two people are in a
relationship or married, there is still no justification to the perpetrator for their act. In the 21st century,
although rape crimes have dropped 24.1% from 2001 to 2010, but not all rapes are reported (Eitzen,
Zinn, Smith, 2010). Curtis (1997) reported that 42% of rape victims do not tell anyone of their
assaults. There may be a number of reasons why victims don t speak out. Victims of rape typically fear
their own safety and lives if they speak out on it. Men who are victims typically don t report rapes
because it s considered demasculizing to their gender. Rape victims are traumatized for life, they live
with the burden, as their perpetrators walk away free (Curtis, 1997). NPR s Rachel Martin interviewed
author, Jon Krakauer, and they discussed Krakauer s new book on the issue of acquaintance rape.
Curtis (1997) defines acquaintance rape in the situation that the victim knows their assaulter. With the
main subject being acquaintance rape, Krakauer s book focuses on this college town, Missoula, in
Montana. Krakauer tells Martin that 230 rapes have occurred in Missoula, without prosecution (NPR,
2015). From there, Krakauer talks about one of those cases.

December 18, 2006 Today wasn t as bad as I thought it would be. Transferring my senior of high

Smoking reduces the stress in your life.
Although it is proven that smoking calms you down for the short period you are smoking that

when they end up in a hospital fighting any number of smoking related problems like lung cancer and

Employee Performance Reviews Essay
Performance reviews are designed to both evaluate general performance and measure progress around
specific goals. Both negative and positive aspects are incorporated in these reviews as they should

As it may not seem like a conscious choice, any time an employee offers an excuse for a poor
performance, he or she is trying to clear themselves of any responsibility. This can create tension
between the employee and the manager as the executive s focus tends to be not on the excuse itself,
but on the issue of responsibility. Along with excuses, silence acts in a negative manner for many
reasons; it is obvious that it makes the employee feel awkward. Silence can also be used as
manipulative power play as well as a means of intimidation which can lead to a multitude of other
negativities such as irrelevancies and misconception.
Good performance review techniques and methods come in a variety of forms ranging from the use of
management coaches to the establishment and distribution of written evaluations. Evaluations should
include all direct reports from those employees who work within the department; from beginning to
end, the process of using a questionnaire benefits gloriously to a manager and their employees.
Discovering what employees genuinely think of a manager s work and leadership abilities proves

  • 4. The Techniques Of A Good Design A good design makes the document attractive and easier to read. This chapter describes some of the techniques of document design that will make writing more appealing. Some of these techniques are the choice of paper and print, the use of white space and the ways of formatting headings, lists and graphs. First, one should use 81/2 x 11 inch, 24 pound, white or off white paper for printout. Also, using a good printer will give a professional appearance. In any case, it is important to select appropriate size and font style for a document. Usually one should use 12 size fonts with Times New Roman for business documents. In addition, one should use white spaces including margins and the space between sections to give visual appeal. As a general guideline, a paper should have 1 inch margin for all four sides except for first page, which should have a 2 inch margin. Moreover, for any document that is single spaced, it is better to use double space between paragraphs. Finally, sloppiness in a document is unprofessional. They both are similar because they need structure, their moody and emotions, they strive for independence, and they are always taking risks. There are also some differences between the two because of the way you have to communicate with them, discipline, and how much attention is needed to each one. When it comes to the two, all of these differences contribute to ho they grow up. Each child is different in their own way, and so are the technics of how you interact with them. Toddlers and teenagers can be so moody and emotional. The reason for this is because toddlers are still growing, and so is their brain. They can t express how they feel therefore they react in the only way they know how and that is through emotion. They rely on emotion to communicate. If they are tired, hungry, sick, and or possibly need to be changed they cry, or become extremely cranky. Teenagers are moody and emotional because they are going through so much change. Their hormones are going crazy and they are also in school with a lot of other kids and they tend to act like the people they are around. They are moody sometimes for no reason. Additionally, prior to meeting with Joyboy, Barlow is confronted by Abercrombie and is asked by the Cricket Club to leave for England, all expenses paid. As predators, sea otters are critical to maintaining the balance of the near shore kelp ecosystems. • 13. Stars By Richard Dyer Summary And Analysis Stars are the faces we see and admire on television. We as a society see stars and immediately want to experience what they experience and we want to understand them. We see stars as superficial beings. We see the roles they play in movies and television and only the major things that producers want us to see. Richard Dyer, film critic and author of Stars asserts that stars are constructed to an audience so they can relate to them and easily identify with them.We connect to the star based on a feature that we admire or share. This development from an admiration to an idolization pushes an attempt to replicate what society admires in the star. This can either be a positive role or negative role. For example, for someone who admires Leonardo DiCaprio, they might want to donate to his foundation supporting the economy and climate change. While others may idolize and want to behave like Lindsay Lohan and experiment with drugs. This skews what teenagers and kids see as cool . Many of the reasons why young women want to appear thin is because of the stars we see on television. Many female stars have an hourglass shape to them, large breasts, flat stomach, and wide hips. If one were to google the perfect body, studies about how we view the perfect body arise, as well as an article about the perfect Kardashian body and how to get one are the first links that appear. Richard Dyer presents an idea in his book Stars that examines the social types of stars. He analyzes their indigenous role in how society functions through the history of film production. Dyer describes the characteristics of stardom as ordinariness, success, love, and consumption. Ordinariness is sought for in the eyes of stars because that is necessary to relate to the public. If society viewed stars as another species or not human, no one would have the desire to be a star and they would become unrelatable. High school students have been utilizing the idea of #relatable or #me for years because generally, people have the aspiration to relate to others. It is clearly understood as to why the visitation policy was put into place. Charleston Southern is a Christian college, and it should portray Christian values in every aspect of the university. I think it is important for college students to have their freedom but it is also important to uphold the school s expectations. Claflin University brought up this topic to their board. The longtime argument for it has been that students will not be able to fully prepare for exams and study for class if visitation is expanded to members of the opposite sex. The sellers gain profit when they buy back the shares at a lower price (Investopedia, n.d.). The benefits of short selling include facilitating market efficience, driving down overprice shares, increasing liquidity of stock markets and exposing financial fraud. The CFA Institute believes that short selling enables participants to quickly and accurately adjust securities prices to reflect investor opinions about valuations (Smith, 2012), hence improving marketing efficiency. It also shortens the time taken to discover corporate misconduct and predict firms who will be involved in financial misconduct (Foster, 2009). However, short selling has its limitation as well. Firstly, it has detrimental effect which weakens investors confidence in financial markets. It gives rise to short term market volatility and cause severe damage to investors confidence when share prices decline. Secondly, there is an unlimited risk involved as there is no limit to the amount of money the short seller can lose, the price of the share can increase forever (IG, n.d.). In the first paragraph we see a common theme or image found in the Latinx cannon: the image of motherhood and tradition. Palacios mother s retelling follows the traditional narrative of La Llorona Loca retelling in which a woman, traditionally a mother, drowns her children and then feels remorse. Although many authors would choose to further develop on this image, Palacios through her reflection on her up brining demonstrates opposing views to the dominant ideology, in the way in which she critiques these societal expectations of women. As the story continues, Palacios articulates a critique of gender roles and expectations demonstrated through the following lines of her mothers La Llorona retelling: The story also states that, as she wailed, she wore a long white gown. Since White veterans have the GI Bill, they moved out to the suburbs during 1940 1970, which was during the time of suburbanization. Because Black veterans did not receive the GI Bill, they were unable to move out and buy houses. This effect is still present today, considering that in the statistics, Blacks are less likely than Whites to own houses. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The teacher s presence did not bother or interfere with I.M. and his play. Occasionally, he would ask the teacher when he needed help with a task. At first, the little girl seemed very impatient and she kept on running off to the games. However, I heard the mother tell her, You need tokens to play the games, so you need to wait patiently until I buy them. The little girl responded by saying Okay. While reading this document, I was surprised by the husband s action that he abandoned his wife in his heartache. The reason that the woman and her husband married was to make peace instead of love; however, they still loved each other after marrying and swore that nothing could separate them excepted the death (Anonymous 114). For me, the husband abandoned his wife because of his relative s hostility to her and the principle of the feudal society at that time (Anonymous 114). I do not agree with that action. Lafley also changed the belief that all new and innovative products had to be created within Procter amp; Gamble, stressing that many new products should be created elsewhere. This Connect and Develop model of innovation allowed the company to get almost 50 percent of its new product ideas from outside the firm (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, amp; McNamara, 2014, pg. When Lafley stepped down as CEO of P amp;G in 2009, he left McDonald with some problems, including some beyond his control, such as the recession of 2008. • 31. Treatment Plan Introduction Fritscher (2011) postulates that a treatment plan may be formal or it may consist of informal handwritten notes. This is largely dependent on the documentation required by the agency or facility and all the other parties involved. However, regardless of its format, Fritscher (2011) states that the treatment plan should always be subject to change as the case progresses. According to Vrouvas (2013), a treatment plans can work as a mean of providing clients with guidelines that may foster moral support, provide incentive and offer practical solutions for dealing with adversity. This paper will describe a treatment plan and how it will be presented to the client. The paper will also make specific reference to Brittany. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, since Brittany s treatment plan was developed in consultation with her, the level of resistance should be minimal. Therefore, through formal and informal discussion, the client will be notified of the finalized treatment plan and specific focus will be placed on the objectives of the plan. It would also be acceptable to present a written copy of the treatment plan to the client. In any case, a copy of the treatment plan should always be available upon the client s request. Conclusion Conclusively, Brittany s treatment plan will form an agreement between her and the agency and may be modified periodically to accommodate the needs of the client. This could prove to be quite empowering for the client. Therefore, the problem or issues should be clearly identified and the determined objectives should be both measurable and realistic. In addition, all four parts of the treatment plan should be jointly related and should therefore reduce all confusions, misunderstandings and misinterpretations. This is necessary, especial as it relates to the client. Undoubtedly, when the client and the individuals responsible for facilitating the treatment plan work together cooperatively, it increases the likelihood of a successful process. References ... • 32. Implementing Mandatory Council Meeting Of All Plc Teams One thing that is a for certain in education is changes will take place. Education mirrors the world we live in, and that is, change is inevitable. However, this process is not always accepted by the entire staff of a school and may be found burdensome to others. As a teacher leader, when certain changes in the school take place regarding a rule, the entire staff needs to come together to ensure the rule is being implemented and enforced. One such change that is happening at my school is the once a week mandatory meeting of all PLC teams. The decision to implement mandatory PLC meetings did not go over well with all teachers. When a school makes a rule or policy change, there are parts of the organization, such as the political, human resource, and cultural perspective that feel the effect. I am part of a vast school district in Texas. I understand that this rule change about PLC meetings came from school leaders that are higher up in the organizational structure, and moved down the chain of command from the principals to the teachers. Understanding the structure of an organization is critical for the organization to move forward (Laureate Education, Inc., 2007). My district believes and supports the different PLC teams in the school district. At the start of this year, the entire staff was told by the principal that all PLC teams need to meet once a week, and all minutes of the meeting need to be documented and emailed to administration. The situations of Anne Frank and Krystyna Chiger were especially difficult. Both Anne s and Krystyna s situations, which were similar and different, were difficult to survive through. Firstly, Anne Frank had a difficult time surviving through certain circumstances. Anne Frank s family and another family, the Van Daans, hid together in a tiny attic because they were in severe danger just because they were Jewish. There were eight people cramped together, and the situation was not very pleasant. To survive, Anne Frank had to dream and pretend she was safe and free as well as working out her emotions by writing in a diary. Another person hiding with Anne, Mrs. Van Daan, survived a different way. She instead voiced her concerns by arguing, complaining, and critiquing other people. ... • 34. A Comparison Of David Hockney And Christopher Isherwood There are people today, who never realize just how much of a blessing Los Angeles is. This, City of Angels , is like paradise with its warm sunlight on individuals who each have their own story. People in this city usually do not have anything to hide, due to affecting and inspiring one another, such as homosexuals. Other cities in the past, such as London, despised the thought of two people, of the same sex, engaging in an intimate relationship. Los Angeles however, could not have appeared any more of a haven to two gay British men, David Hockney and Christopher Isherwood, due to its standard of living, how the people there had a particular set of beliefs and attitudes, and the gay scene being different than that of London. Before Los Angeles, before their successful careers, David Hockney and Christopher Isherwood were both just two boys from England. Christopher Isherwood, who was born in the year 1904 roughly thirty years before David Hockney was born was a privileged young boy as he was related to a country squire. Even though he was privileged, Christopher s family was incomplete due to his distant parents. With his parents being distant, and having to be sent to boarding school at age 8, it created a sense of loneliness for Christopher. • 35. Rape, Violence, And Feminist Networks There has been a lot of discussion of rape within sociologists, criminologists, and feminist networks. In my own words, rape is someone engaging with someone else sexually without their consent. Rape is not strictly vaginal penetration, nor an exclusive heterosexual only act. If two people are in a relationship or married, there is still no justification to the perpetrator for their act. In the 21st century, although rape crimes have dropped 24.1% from 2001 to 2010, but not all rapes are reported (Eitzen, Zinn, Smith, 2010). Curtis (1997) reported that 42% of rape victims do not tell anyone of their assaults. There may be a number of reasons why victims don t speak out. Victims of rape typically fear their own safety and lives if they speak out on it. Men who are victims typically don t report rapes because it s considered demasculizing to their gender. Rape victims are traumatized for life, they live with the burden, as their perpetrators walk away free (Curtis, 1997). NPR s Rachel Martin interviewed author, Jon Krakauer, and they discussed Krakauer s new book on the issue of acquaintance rape. Curtis (1997) defines acquaintance rape in the situation that the victim knows their assaulter. With the main subject being acquaintance rape, Krakauer s book focuses on this college town, Missoula, in Montana. Krakauer tells Martin that 230 rapes have occurred in Missoula, without prosecution (NPR, 2015). From there, Krakauer talks about one of those cases. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Along with excuses, silence acts in a negative manner for many reasons; it is obvious that it makes the employee feel awkward.
