Effects Of Racial Stereotypes On Television By Heather Doan
Heather Doan, in her research essay Effects of Racial Stereotypes on Television, argues that racial
stereotypes of different ethnic groups such as African Americans, Latinos, Asians, and Middle
Easterners on television programs must come to an end because of their negative influences on the
affected groups and viewers. First, stereotypesdescribe how individuals classify their beliefs about
different social and ethnic groups. Television programs promote stereotypes of different groups by
representing African Americans as violent criminals instead of victims and Latinos as illegal
immigrants instead of working citizens. At the same time the programs promote Asians as coward
nerds and Middle Easterners as possible terrorists. The repeated... Show more content on

For a start, her bias in only sharing the negative representations of each race in her essay shows that
she needs to further her studies and include the positive representations. Furthermore, in each
paragraph, she includes a list containing television shows and films that contains the stereotypes in
talk of. Rather than simply stating Latino characters have a tendency to be maids, criminals, or
comic buffoons in movies like Babel, Fun with Dick and Jane, Spanglish, and Cake, Doan should
instead extend each example and describe the characters, as well as the specific stereotype they fit

Langston Hughes Hero Essay
To me a hero is someone who can overcome trials and tribulations. A hero is brave enough to face
the world and help others in a time of need. Langston Hughes is a good example of a hero because
he helped his community and other young people in the world.
Langston Hughes was one of the most important writers and thinkers of the Harlem Renaissance.
He was born on February 1, 1902 and died May 22, 1967. This was the African Americanartistic
movement in the 1920 s that celebrated black life and culture. Hughes was born in Joplin,
Missouri. His mother was a schoolteacher, and she also wrote poetry. His father, James Nathaniel
Hughes, was a storekeeper. He had wanted to become a lawyer, but he wasn t able to take the bar
exam. Hughes parents

How Much Exposure And Media Did The Individual Experience...
With the majority of the survey being nominal with question variation the range of the answers
could be Strong Democrat all the way to Strong Republican, A question that leads the research
is, How much exposure to media did the individual experience before voting and did that affect
the way that individual voted? Because at the end of the questioning that is the real answer to the
question we re asking. There is a noticeable differentiation in most of the questions asking how
strong or weak an affiliation is or how strongly or how weakly a person feels about a well known
political figure. No matter if the figure is currently in politics or in politics past. The main
(independent) variable is whether a person went out and voted and the dependent variable is how
much media, including television, radio, newspaper, and internet, influence was placed upon the
person prior to the electionand whether or not that determined who he/she voted for.
There are also outside factors that could affect the way that a person would interpret the election
on television like region, state, news channel preference, etc. The list could go on because there
are so many different types of media that so many different people have access too. In rural areas
the only media received may be the local newspaper and a radio. The newspaper can be viewed
as a way to gain more information because the articles are longer and more detailed. This way,
some believe, better perceptions of the candidates are

Waimea Beach Research Paper
It was a bright and sunny friday, school had just got out not 2 hours prior, and me and my family
decided to head to the beach to start the weekend off before heading back to school that
following monday. On our way there I realized they were heading to Waimea Beach which is a
good 30 minutes from my house. I love Waimea beach, and has to be one of my favorite I ve
ever been to. We had just pulled up and parked and I was making my way to a spot right by the
water when I saw a big crowd. That s when I realised what day it was, it was high tide day, which
meant the water was high enough, with crashing on us, so that people could jump. Waimea is
known for many things there on the island, the amazing shrimp and food trucks, the enormous
waves, very very ideal and perfect place to surf, and importantly that day, the cliff jump. This Cliff

In Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt, Dicey, age 13, James, age 10, Maybeth, age 9, and Sammy,
age 6, are abandoned by their mother in the middle of Connecticut in a parking lot. They have to
find their way to Aunt Cilla s house because she is their only relative Dicey knows. With very
little money and food, the Tillermans walk all the way to Bridgeport to find out that Aunt Cilla is
dead and their Cousin Eunice is the only one there. They live with Cousin Eunice for a while, then
later travel to their Grandma s house. One symbol in the story is the long road, and it symbolizes

To cite another instance, when the children were on the road, Dicey? Maybeth said. Yes,
Maybeth, Dicey answered, without turning her head. Food, money, a way forward [on the
road]. They had none. [Maybeth said] What s wrong? Dicey almost laughed. What s right? is
what she wanted to answer, but she didn t speak. Never mind the way forward [on the road], you
couldn t get without money and they had none, (p.94). This verifies that one symbol is the long
road and it symbolizes all four children s hardships, their hopelessness, and their poverty
because nothing right is going on in their lives. On the long road, you couldn t get money to buy
food. That shows poverty. On the road, they have to walk a long way forward while they are
hungry and tired. Now that the children are stopping and just giving up, it shows that they have
no hope in themselves. If they had hope, Dicey could ve kept walking and find people to give
her a job so she can earn money. For now, they are hopeless with no money or food on the long
road. Another symbol is the sailboat and it symbolizes the hope the children need, and Dicey s
want to be accepted and taken in by her grandmother. Furthermore, the sailboat is damaged and
ugly, but Dicey finds hope in it, and had thoughts of fixing it and sailing it with her grandmother
and siblings. For instance, when Dicey discovers the boat, the text states, A sailboat. It was small,
only fourteen or fifteen feet. It

Test Two Different Cooling Methods On Murrah Buffalo Under...
The purpose of this journal article was to test two different cooling methods on Murrah buffalo
under heat stressed conditions. Summarizing the study, they selected 12 Murrah buffalo that had
previously calved 2 or 3 before and were in early, 50 70 days, lactation during the study. The trial
took place for a span of 60 days, 30 during the May June months and the other 30 in the August
September months. 6 buffalo were placed under constantly running water showers (Group 1),
while the other 6 were allowed to wallow in a water pond from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M (Group 2). They
collected blood samples from both groups on 3 day intervals for both trial time periods, specifically
testing for plasma thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), cortisol, and insulinhormones. During the
study the buffalo had ad lib water and access to green maze fodder. They wanted to also see how
differences in humidity would impact the effectiveness of the cooling methods and how it would
impact the buffalos milk and feed yields. The average temperature humidity index (THI) was
80.3% during the hot dry season and 83.6 during the hot humid season. The results showed that
the buffalo that wallowed in the water pond had a higher average plasma T4 and insulin level
compared to those under water showers in the hot dry season. Plasma T3 levels weren t noticeably
different between Group 1 and 2. Although Plasma cortisol concentration in Group 1 were higher
when compared to Group 2 (4.80 vs. 2.60 ng/ml). In the

Relativist, Contextualist, Absolutist Relativist is the concept that points of view have no absolute
truth or validity, having only relative, subjective value according to differences in perception and
consideration. (Slick, 2015) Moral relativism goes off a person s moral principles, where principles
and ethicsare observed as valid in only limited situations. There are many forms of relativism
which vary in their degree of disagreement; also known as truth relatives. (Slick, 2015)

Utility is defined in various ways, but is usually related to the well being of sentient entities. (Act
and Rule Utilitarianism, 2015) Jeremy Bentham was the founder of Utilitarianism, he defined utility
as the aggregate pleasure after deducting suffering of all involved in any action. Later in time a man
by the name of John Stuart Mill extended the concept of utility to include not only the quantity, by
focusing on rules, instead of individual moral actions. Utilitarianism is a form of consequentialism,
which states that actions between right and wrong have consequences. Some believe that one s
intentions are also ethically important. (Act and Rule Utilitarianism,

Instrumental Aggression Research Paper
ESP Topic : Kid Sisters and Serial Killers !
Aggression comes in two main forms; hostile aggression and instrumental aggression. Hostile
aggression is aggression stemming from feelings of anger and aimed at inflicting pain or injury
(Aronson, Wilson, Arkert, 2013, p. 453). So simply put, hostile aggressionis being violent and
hurting someone because we are angry. According to our textbook, instrumental aggression is
defined as aggression as a means to some goal other than causing pain (Aronson, Wilson, Arkert,
2013, p. 454). Instrumental Aggression is basically harming someone in service of some other goal
and not to just hurt them. When thinking of hostile aggression, think of serial killers; people who
commits a series of murders usually with no apparent motive. When it comes to instrumental ...

The origins of kickboxing is found in the martial art of Muay Thai. Kickboxing does not have a
grading system (belts) and fighters are ranked by their competitive record alone (Grahame,

Essay on Ethical Issues with Social Media
Current Ethical Issues with Social Media
People are increasingly sharing their lives online through social networking sites with little
concern for who may be viewing their information. This has become an issue in current times and
is up for debate based on the ethical issues associated with Social Media. People don t realize
joining a social network is like joining a community. As any community in real life, your business
has a place in the community but should not invade one s privacy. Social networking is one of the
most popular methods apart from forum marketing that is available to Internet users today. Places
like MySpace and Facebook among others have gone from just social interaction spaces to a part
time marketing program as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no legitimate appeal beyond them. That which produces the greatest amount of happiness
is morally obligatory and nothing else.
Legal Perspective
In fact, the principle applies not only to morals but also to legislation. The purpose of laws is to
maximize the total happiness of the community. Most ethics questions about the use of technology
can be adequately answered by existing ethics rules without regard to medium or application.
On a more fundamental level, most of the ethical pitfalls related to social networking can be
prevented by a little forethought and exercise of common sense, without regard to ethics rules.
The qualities of social networking which are so potentially problematic for lawyers are its
immediacy, its accessibility, and its permanency. As a result, like all users of social media, lawyers
can react to a situation instantaneously and publicly, with an online posting that will remain on the
internet in some form forever. Instead of sober reflection, social media encourages a reactionary
and emotional post. Instead of one on one communication with a colleague or friend, social media
encourages a broadcast to an expansive audience. Instead of ethereal and temporary
communication, social media encourages an indelible post. You can get yourself into serious
trouble by tweeting an emotional reaction to a judge s adverse ruling from your iPhone as you are
walking out of the courthouse, instead of

Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death in which two teenagers from each of the twelve
Districts of Panem are chosen at random to compete until death. There is more than one main

The principle is best exemplified in Cato s slow death at the end of the movie. Once the dogs
have defeated Cato, they don t kill him immediately, and Katniss realizes that the Gamemakers
want Cato to remain alive because it creates an exceedingly gruesome spectacle. It is the finale
of the Games, and so they want to deliver prolonged suffering the audience at home won t be able
to turn away from. The suffering, however, doesn t have to be purely physical. It can be
psychological as well. Katniss s and Peeta s romance, for instance, is the subject of so much
fascination because it is presumed to be doomed. The Gamemakers changed the rules of the
game just so they could get closer to each other, and in the end they changed it back so they had
to kill each other in order to win. They always try to create as much suffering as possible for the
tributes. Throughout the movie, Katniss and her team use her external appearance, including what
she says and how she behaves, to control how other people perceive her. At the reaping ceremony,
for instance, she won t allow herself to cry in front of the cameras because she doesn t want to
give the impression of being weak (and therefore an easy target). Furthermore, at the opening
ceremony of the Games, the novel emphasizes how important appearances are by focusing a great
deal on Katniss s preparations. The main feature of this

Chaos In The Crucible
Order Leads to Chaos: The Irony of the Witch Trials In 17th century Massachusetts the Puritan
government was a theocracy. They did this to restore order and have a Holy Community. In the
Crucible, by Arthur Miller, people are being accused of witch craft and the whole town goes
crazy. There are a series of trials and multiple people are killed. In the Crucible, in an attempt to
keep order and maintain a holy community greater chaos emerges. In the Crucible, the people of
Salem are determined to keep order and to maintain a holy community. For example, Paris says to

For example, Elizabeth tells John, The Deputy Governor promise hangin if they ll not confess,
John. The town s gone wild, I think. She speak of Abigail, and I thought she were a saint, to hear
her. Abigail brings the other girls into the court, and where she walks the crowd will part like
the sea from Israel. And folks are brought before them, and if they scream and howl and fall to
the floor the person s clapped in the jail for bewitchin them, (Miller 52 53). If people don t
confess then they get killed and if a teenage girl faints in front of them then they are found guilty
of witch craft. This displays the opposite image of a peaceful and godly community. People are
lying and being killed for working for the devil even though both those acts are sins. They are so
afraid of the devil yet they are committing his acts. When Mary Warren was being questioned
about lying, Danforth asked her, Do you not know that God damns all liars? (Miller 101). Even
though he is naming God he really means that they will damn her. He is declaring the
government s right to do as they believe God would do. But even though they believes that those
who lie should be condemned he is not condemning the real liars. The real liars are being treated
like saints while the honest and good people are being killed. It shows that their society has
become the opposite of what it was

Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama
Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval drama were both
very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance. However, from ancient Greece to
the renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of methodology; their practitioners use a creative
process based off of different mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres
has had an evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects
such as religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the distinct
theatrical natures of Greek theatre and medieval dramawill be made apparent. Though both genres
of theatre are closely tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval drama have different religious
motivations that impact the ways in which the theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was
used to entertain or please the Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important
of the four Athenian festivals: the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as
Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to compete in the festival and submit three tragedies and one
satyr play to be performed in front of approximately 15,000 spectators. In classical Greece, theatre
was the center of citizenship and society; religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only
realized by performances, but strongly encouraged by the state. For example, if a citizen could not

Radon Essay
Radon
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive element that can be found in soil, underground water,
and outdoor air. Some of the properties of this gas include being odorless, tasteless, and colorless.
The concentrations vary throughout the country depending on the types of rocks that are found in
the soil. Exposure over prolonged periods of time to radon decay products has been associated with
an increased risk of lung cancer.(3) The EPA describes an elevated concentration as being at or
above their suggested guidelines of 4pCi/l
(pico Curies per liter, used as a radiation unit of measure for radon).
Exposures below this level may create a risk of lung cancer, farther reductions to lower levels may
be too difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Uranium and its by products of decay, namely radon are abundant and are constantly being
generated.(13) Radon is capable of easily traveling through rocks and soil.(14) The gas is also
found dissolved in water, due to decay in the soil or rock below.(15)
Radon in Water
The risk from radon in water is much lower than the risk from radon in air. This is because the
water must be heated or agitated to release the gas.
This can happen in a shower, boiling water on a stove, or by using a washing machine. Most public
water supplies don t present a radon risk, this is because the water is aerated at the treatment site
and the gas escapes into the atmosphere. Most water that contains hazardous amounts of radon
comes from wells. Wells should be tested for radon if the building that they are supplying contains
hazardous amounts in the air. The testing procedures for water are different from those used on
air.(16)
Water containing radon can usually be treated. The most effective treatment is to remove radon
from the water before it enters the home, this is called point of entry treatment. Water can also be
treated at the tap, this is known as point of use treatment. However this treatment is much less
effective at removing the risk.(17)
Radon Entry
Radon travels through the ground and into the air, allowing the gas to easily enter buildings and
homes.

Sentimentalism In Ah Q
Early 20th Century Chinese Sentimentalities
The True Story of Ah Q, as written in 1921 by Lu Xun, is widely seen as a magnum opus of
contemporary Chinese literature. Xun wanted to alter the way of thinking as well as enlighten his
fellow Chinese following the 1911 Revolution that overturned the final Chinese dynasty. Xun uses
the protagonist of the story, Ah Q, as a representative of Chinaas a whole as he saw the nation to be,
giving the reader an insight into social classes and attitudes that permeated Chinese society in the
early 20th century. Xun does not paint a great picture of Ah Q and unfortunately, this is his
opinion of Chinese society as a whole at the time. This portrayal of Chinese society is harsh and
eye opening but to Xun, very accurate and necessary to transform the thinking of Chinese people
at that time. During the early half of the 20th century, China was a struggling nation. The
country was overwhelmingly controlled by foreign powers and had little to no autonomy. After
losing the Opium Wars to Britain and France, coupled with an attack from the Japanese, the
Chinese had very little control over China. These losses led to China also losing Control of the
all important coastal ports that were very lucrative. The European influence permeated the
Chinese country as people felt helpless with their wishes and voices not being heard. Under
such circumstances, one could easily fall into a state of mind where they do not care. This is
similar to the mindset and characteristics of Ah Q. Ah Q was seen as backwards, aloof, careless,
but with an air of arrogance that was delusional. One common trait that comes from people
feeling helpless is drug usage. People use drugs and alcohol to help cope with whatever issues
they are having; this is no different for Ah Q. In one instance, the protagonist is seen drunk,
cavorting around the village, apparently celebrating the fact that one of the elite from the village
had passed an examination given by the county. In his state of drunkenness, Q proclaims that he
has the same last name as the elite, and that they are related. Ashamed and obviously upset with
this false claim made by Q, the elite slapped and scolded Q and was forced to pay a fee to the

Cultural Anthropology And Human Experience By Katherine...
Anthropology is split into four different sections; cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology,
archeology, and biological anthropology. If I were to favor one branch of anthropology, over the
others, it would have to be cultural anthropology. Although, it was hard to make the decision of
which branch I favored the most, I chose cultural anthropologybecause it gives us a greater
understanding of why we are the way we are. Also, why others are the way they are.
Cultural Anthropologists study living people, as Katherine A. Dettwyler states in her book Cultural
Anthropology Human Experience, that cultural archeologists study what humans do, why they do
it , and what the consequences are. As a person who constantly analyzes every

John P. Kotter s Leading Change
In the first chapter Leading Change by John P. Kotter brought out the fact that all companies (large
and small) go through changes. Some are to remain competitive others are to keep up with the
changing marketing tactics. These efforts have gone under many banners: total quality
management, reengineering, rightsizing, restructuring, culturing, change, and turnaround (Review,
2011, p. 1). Now to add another name, my company calls it PEx (production excellence. It is
really not looked at as a good thing. We have a separate PEx group. When a manager has a
process that they want to change (or update) they call the PEx team. After many (many many)
meetings with core people changes are made. I have been through a few and looking back, it was
not enjoyable.
In this chapter step 1 of the 8 steps of transforming your organization is creating a sense of
urgency. It stands to reason that error 1 of 8 is the opposite or not a great enough sense of
urgency. One of the statements that I hear often is Why change we have always done it this way .
Another one is, If it is not broken don t fix it.

Different Types Of Movements Are Performed During Ballet...
Many different types of movements are performed during ballet dancing. One of the most common
types of move is a turn, commonly referred to as a pirouette. A pirouette is a french term that was
started around the seventeen hundreds to mean a dancer turning (Lim, 2015). Pirouette is a general
description of a turn. Some detailed examples of pirouettes are en dedans, en dehors, attitudes,
arabesque turns, grande pirouettes, fouettГ©s, and vertical pirouettes (Law, 2014). During the
Renaissance era in sixteenth century Italy, vertical pirouettes were developed for ballets. When a
dancer begins dance classes a vertical pirouette, it is one the first movements that they will learn.
This paper is about how to perform the vertical pirouette movement correctly as described in
biomechanics terms. Pirouettes are turns that can be executed in either direction of rotation. There
are five different phases for a pirouette. The phases are the preliminary phase, recovery phase, force
producing phase, the critical instant phase, and the follow through phase. Each phase had a
different biomechanical principle that is applied, some phases could have more then one principle.
During the preliminary phase, there is hiprotation, kneeflexion, foot dorsiflexion with placement in
the dominant and non dominant. A dance wants their support to have a wide base and also they
need to have a low center of gravity. The movement for the arms are abduction and extension with

An Advanced Business Degree Essay
Three Pillars Essay
There has been a number of years between completing my bachelor s of science in engineering
and my pursuit of an MBA degree. What began as a one year break from school turned into
marriage, raising a family and all of the responsibilities that accompany life. Nevertheless, the
desire never left me and the opportunity to pursue this degree has been one of the best decisions I
have made. Although my background is in engineering, one of my most compelling passions have
been in the area of teaching and mentoring. The pursuit of an advanced business degree usually
means learning the skills necessary to enter into corporate America with the opportunity for high
salaries and profit sharing; however, the skills obtained from an MBA degree can prepare graduates
for career changes that may not actually include business in the common sense of the word. Though
the education industry is not known for doling out high salaries, business students seem to be
increasingly seeking jobs in the policy, technology, and managementof education, say education
professionals and business students (Wecker, 2012). Thesis Statement: As one actively in pursuit of
a Masters in Business Administration, the vision of my career efforts is to promote leadership
development within the context of education administration, incorporate new growth opportunities
within the institution and surrounding community, as well as promote the spirit of

Pay for Performance Essay
Pay for Performance
Park University
Overview
Incentive pay, also known as pay for performance is generally given for specific performance
results rather than simply for time worked. While incentives are not the answer to all personnel
challenges, they can do much to increase worker performance. (Billikopf) Performance pay has
various names: merit pay, pay for performance, knowledge and skill based pay, or individual or
group incentive pay. (Delisio) Pay for performance systems have further been proven to have two
advantages for organizations: attracting more high quality employees and motivating employees to
exert more effort at their jobs. (Gordon, Kaswin) This paper will show the positive benefits of
performance pay as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pivotal in that philosophy development is how and to what extent pay will be tied to specific
types of performance. This issue will not be treated the same in every organization. However,
every business should be able to identify certain performance objectives it wants its workforce to
fulfill and the financial outcome that will be achieved if that result is attained. Such a projection
can be translated into an increased shareholder value figure. (The VisionLink Advisory Group)
Features of Effective Plans
Top Management Support Supervisors must understand the incentive pay process in order to
support and administer it. Oftentimes, a lack of understanding causes managers to ignore or
adapt the process as they see fit. Moreover, if supervisors are not trained on how to measure
performance, the process will not be standardized across the company. (Gordon, Kaswin) Having
buy in from key stakeholders is crucial for the success of an incentive pay system. For example, if
top management does not support such a program, lower level managers will place little
importance on effectively administering the program. Hence, a lack of top management support
often leads to a lack of accountability. (Gordon, Kaswin)
Communication
Consistent and methodical communication is necessary when implementing an incentive pay plan.
It will ensure employees understand what is expected of them while decreasing the likelihood

Hippocrates And The Modern Western Europe Essay
In the medieval western Europe times medical knowledge was ascribe to faith and religion. A
physician was not a medical practitioner that was highly respected in this particular time era.
Contrary, to the knowledge that some physician might have accumulated, some disease could not
be cure by the practitioner; therefore, leaving the patients having to reach out to the hagiographical
leader for advice and a cure. Using spiritual remedies as medicinewas often prescribed for the sick
The hagiographical leader was not just a spiritual doctor in medieval times, they were also medical
practitioners that perform miracles with the help of Jesus Christ. Although, society in those times
did not have a clear perception of health, they knew that a spiritual existence was involve in the
inevitable decision of life and death.
Hippocrates contribute a very important perspective on medical knowledge in medieval western
Europe times. Subsequently, Hippocrates was not a licensure physician, but in those times licensure
was not a necessity. In this time period in seems to be Hippocrates innate instinct to contribute to
medical practices. From the very beginning of times Hippocrates lineage was a part of the
founding of the art of medicine. Apollo, whose was Hippocrates grandfather was consider in

Implementing The Universal Protocol Procedure
In 2003, as an outcome of all the sentinel events reported to the Joint commission lead to the
creation of the The Universal protocol for preventing wrong site, wrong procedures, and wrong
person surgery (Mulloy Hughes 2008). So, one of the ways that could have potentially prevented
the situation from happening at the first place was implementing the universal protocol
procedure. According to the protocol the conduction of proper pre as well as post operating
procedures are extremely mandatory. Therefore, by enforcing a standardized routine pre operating
procedure such as verifying the patient as well as the correct site for the procedure, by having the
medical staff or preferably the physician marking the operating site with his or her initials before
the surgery will be an effective preventive measure (Mulloy Hughes 2008). Also, by properly
conducting a time out session where the patient is provided with a standardized briefing prior to the
patient is sedated in the OR could also eliminate some the sentinel or adverse events in the OR.
Furthermore, follow a checklist, which not only pertains to the surgery itself, but also focuses on
the other procedures involved such as admissions, anesthesia equipment, and discharge (Mulloy
Hughes 2008). Using Technology to Improve Patient Safety Another effective measure that could
have potentially helped to avoid the situation at the first place was implementation of technology
for instance having a Electronic Medical

Sign Here If You Exist By Jill Sisson Quinn
Austrian British philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein once said, The real question of life after death
isn t whether or not it exists, but even if it does what problem this really solves. The idea that
death is inevitable is well known by everyone, yet no one is certain as to what happens afterwards.
Even though the subject of life after death has been argued for centuries by many philosophers and
theologians. In the article Sign Here If You Exist, Jill Sisson Quinn adequately employs figurative
language, rhetoricquestionings, and personal anecdotes to demonstrate a controversial argument
on the topic of life after death. In her article, Quinn uses multiple figurative languages to
strengthen her claim that life after death does not exist. This is a very opinionated piece
therefore using figurative language such as metaphors, simile, diction and symbols help enhance
the validity of the author s argument, while effectively giving her opinion to the readers in a
subdued manner. Quinn s use of the Ichneumon wasp as a symbol for the process of human life
is a subtle way of writing it. Her article starts off with a detailed description of the physical
features of a Female Giant Ichneumon Wasp, which then proceeds to a biology based background
explanation on the specie. During her descriptions, Quinn uses carefully chosen words that is
meant to let the reader go beyond imagining the wasp and to think of it as something more. She
explains Her overall appearance of fragility the

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to become acquainted with the evolution of national incident
response over the last twenty years in America; and henceforth, gain a better understanding of
the current multi agency/multi discipline approach to national disasters and emergencies. This
summary briefly reviews the history of federal planning documents over the past twenty years as
context for the present day, National Response Framework; and then highlights the response
doctrine and its five principles, as it seems to encapsulate the National Response Framework

(NFP, January 2008, page 2 and 12) The NRP formed the basis for how the federal government
would coordinate with state, local and tribal governments and the private sector during the response
to a national incident. It was the cornerstone for the eventual maturation to the National Response
Framework. The NRP brought together best practices from a range of disciplines including:
homeland security, emergency management, law enforcement, firefighting, public works, public
health and the private sector and integrated them into one unified structure. This unified structure
provided the ability to coordinate federal support to state, local and tribal incident managers. (NFP,
January 2008, page 12)
President Bush s Homeland Security Presidential Directive Number 5 also ordered the development
of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), which continues to bring together federal,
state, local and tribal emergency responders into a single system for managing incidents. The
NIMS enables responders at all levels to work together more effectively to manage domestic
incidents no matter what the cause, size or complexity. (Homeland Security Under Secretary Kicks

percent of the Earths freshwater. But the Nile River is the longest when calculating width.
Being as big a it is, the amazon holds a massive number of dfferent types of species of wildlife
with different kinds of sub ecosystems to provide for them. When I think of the Amazon I first
think of the terrestrial ecosystems. These are the land based eviroments. I m going to take the
first part of this project to talk about the terrestrial ecosystem in the amazon and all the wildlife
that it holds. According to WorldAtlas there are 427 types of mammals, 1,300 types of birds, 378
types of reptiles, more than 400 kinds of amphibians, over 80,000 types of plants and trees, and
estimation of over 2 million differnt types of insects. Unfortunatley I cannot go over ever single
one of these unique species so I will talk about the more popular species that benefit the jungle. The
rainforest is divided in four layers: forest floor, understory, canopy and emergent. The canopy is the
most heavy populated with plant life, with trees towering up to 200 feet

Health Care Barriers
As health care providers, we have seen a lot of patients come to the emergency with very serious
infection or after 5 days of abdominal pain. We always encourage patients to seek medical care
as soon as possible. However, not everyone wants to believe that they have health problems.
There are many reasons that prevent the patients from seeking health care. The main reason may
be that a lot of people are lack of health insurance. Financial problem in a huge barrier while
health care fees are so expensive. Most of patients have no insurance will not take health care or
yearly check up until they have a serious health problem that required them to seek medical care.
The next barrier is that immigrant patients are not only lack of health insurance, they also have a
language barrier. Culture can also be a barrier for some patients. For some patients, if public
transport is needed, irregular public transport acts as a barrier. Beside these reasons, some people
also scare of the sound of the equipment such as dental care equipment. Sometimes, the barrier is
just an emotional problem or they have no time. Understand these barriers that may prevent the
patients to seek health care. There are some ways that we can do to encourage ill individuals to
take medical care as soon as possible. Teaching is the most effective way, we want to use all
opportunities such as community health events or school teaching. Hospital nurses can teach the
patients early signs and symptoms of diseases or

How To Train Your Dog Essay
Training your dog is the most important part of canine companionship. A happy dog is one who
has structure and boundaries. Dogs are pack animals, and as such, they need guidance in the
behavior that you expect from them. If you don t follow through in this leadership role, then the
dog will naturally feel as if it is his place to do so. A dogthat understands that you are the leader
will naturally be easier to train.
Establish Leadership
You want your dog to understand that you are the person to look to when they question what is
right or wrong. This is done by being firm, yet kind with the dog. You don t want your dog to listen
to you out of fear, but out of respect. Setting boundaries is very important in gaining respect. Sit

Stay Active
A dog that is not properly exercised is a dog that will get into trouble! When a dog is bored, he will
create his own fun, and that is usually not a good thing. Take you dog on a walk each day. Grab a
Frisbee or a ball and go play in the backyard for a half hour. If you have a working dog, create a job
for him to do such as pulling the kids around the yard in a cart.
Practice
Your dog is well exercised and he understands that he needs to refer to you, so now is the time to
teach commands. When you begin teaching your dog obedience commands, it will take practice.
First, verbalize the command and attempt to get the dog to obey without any touching. For
example, if you are teaching sit , you can draw the treat in a straight line form the top of the head.
The dog will naturally follow the treat up and in turn his rear will go down. Repeat the command
as he performs it and then give him praise. Repeat this several times with any command you are
teaching so that he gets the hang of it.
But Don t Practice for Too Long

Marxism In The Grapes Of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath tells the bitter story of the Joad family as it struggles to survive and to
maintain its dignity in the middle of the Great Depression. But it is also the story of the social
class of people like the Joads, tenant farmers who have lost their land and decide to move to
California in hope of finding a better life. John Steinbeckwrote The Grapes of Wrath, in 1939, amid
the Great Depression, in response to the enduring he saw of individuals with disadvantages. He
wrote regarding Oklahomans that were incapable to continue farming since of the disastrous
climate conditions. Particularly, he wrote about the Joad family having to emigrate to California.
Steinbeck composed the novel from a Marxist point of view. Steinbeck is supporting Marxist
thoughts by delineating the distinction of individuals included in capitalism, as the owners take
advantage of the helpless.
In the Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, Steinbeck uses Marxist beliefs to plot the long battle
experienced by the Joad family. The Joads encounters illustrate that the Bourgeoise mishandle their

Geological Structure And Lithology Of Platforms Rocks
Geological structure and lithology of platforms rocks are considered as crucial importance in
determining both the process of formation and development of shore platforms (Edwards 1941;
Trenhaile 1987; Sunamura 1992; Kennedy 2010; Dickson et al 2004; Naylor and Stephenson 2010;
Thornton and Stephenson 2006).
Trenhaile (1987) defined three areas that geology will be affectively controlled the process of
formation and development of shore platforms: 1) erosion process; 2) platform profiles; and 3)
degree of inheritance of shore platforms.
Rock lithology, structure and mineralogy could be determined the erosion processed operated
upon the shore platforms. Rocks that is thinly bedded and well jointed will be eroded dominantly
be wave quarrying. Rocks that absorb large quantity of water are probably more susceptible to
erode by chemical solution. Accumulated debris size at the cliff foot is determined geological
factors which in turn determine the amount of erosion rate of cliff.
Rock dip affects the surface morphology shape. Washboard relief develops in steeply dipping,
thinly bedded strata. Smooth surface of platforms occurs when dip is shallow or horizontal.
Rocks strength is controlled either platforms are completely or partially inheritance from previous
sea level rising. If the platforms developed in softer rocks sediments will be probably completely
eroded by rising sea level but if the rocks is harder it may be inherent by past sea level.

Writing A Book Is Just Too Impossible Because It s Not
Introduction
Has anyone wanted to write a book before, but believed they couldn t? Has anyone here thought
about writing a book at least once in their lives? Does anyone here write currently? Writing isn t as
complex of a process as you might think it is, in fact, I challenge all of you to throw away that
preconceived notion that writing a book is just too impossible because it s not. the question is.
Where do you begin?
Beginning
Step 1
Beginning a book may not sound too complicated to some people and it s not. What is important
is to understand what you should be working on first. Some of you may look at this book in my
hand and say, the title should be worked on first but you d be wrong. In my first delivered speech

What more do you want to add? Think about the timeline in which your book will take place in.
Step 5
The last step is deciding what person do you prefer your book to be written in. You can always
experiment with persons by trying the beginning of your story in both first, second and third person.
I like the process of pencil and paper as opposed to a machine. I think the writing is better when it s
done in handwriting. Nelson DeMille, Author of action, adventure and suspense novels
Beginning To Write
When starting to write all your ideas onto paper don t over analyze what you re saying since this
is your first draft and you will be writing multiple drafts till you re pleased with one. But when you
re starting to write you need to realize that the beginning few chapters of your book should show
your protagonist in their normal environment whether that be home or at school. This doesn t have
to happen all in one chapter, but if you think of a book as a journey down the character s life you
need to know them in order to have any empathy with them and that includes how they interact with
other people and how they react to their normal environment.
Example
This is an example of what a first page of a book may sound that I thought would be beneficial for
you to hear as it might get you thinking on what you might write about.

was a communist conspiracy as well as a socialist ideologies. However, Fidel deceived the Cuban
society and led them to believe that his goals and help him represent democracy. In Castro s
speech, History Will Absolve Me, he discusses different kinds of policies that he would like to
enforce on Cuba and make the Cuban society believers of his ideologies. In the end, Fidel did not
achieve what he initially wanted for the people of Cuba. Even though, the actual Revolution
was successful he failed to abide by his promises to the people regarding a successful economic
reform in Cuba. The actions taken by Castro in his trial and his History Will Absolve Me speech
really showed his view on the anti Batista movement. It helped the people of Cuba to understand
his passion to reform the country and increase the living situations in Cuba. I believe that Castro s

Technology on the field such as cameras to record games has also changed the way we watch

Transatlantic Declaration, New Transatlantic Agenda, And...
The United States has formally maintained diplomatic relations with the European community since
1947 when the US and many European states were founding signers of the General Agreement on
Tariffs and Trade (GATT). The agreement was designed to provide an international forum that
encouraged free trade between member states by regulating and reducing tariffs on traded goods
and by providing a common mechanism for resolving trade disputes. The WTO replaced GATT as
the organization overseeing the multilateral trading system in 1994, and now consists of 144
member states. There are three recent landmarks observed by the European Commission: the
Transatlantic Declaration, New Transatlantic Agenda, and the Transatlantic Economic Partnership.
In 1990 the Transatlantic Declaration was adopted, laying down the principles for greater EU/US
consultation and cooperation in the fields of economy, education, science, and culture. In 1995 the
New Transatlantic Agenda (NTA) and the EU/US Joint Action Plan were adopted, providing a
framework for partnership under four platforms: promoting peace, stability, democracy and
development around the world; responding to changes; contributing to the expansion of world trade
and fostering closer ties; building bridges across the Atlantic Ocean. The Transatlantic Economic
Partnership (TEP) was formed in 1998 to tackle technical barriers to trade and stimulate multilateral
liberalization. This is to be done by integrating labor, business,

The Discovery of Penicillin
Today we often take for granted just going to the doctor and getting medicine to fix any illness

today, back in the 1800 s and early 1900 s it wasn t uncommon for people and children to die from
just a minor scratch, pinpricks, scarlet fever, or any minor diseases. Hospitals were full of people
with infections spiraling out of control, but there wasn t anything available for them. Our soldiers
fighting for our freedom were destined to perish due to gangrene and amputations from battle

Due to the introduction of penicillin during World War II the majority of our soldiers were able to
return home to their families as healthy as they were before they left. World War II was the
mightiest struggle mankind has ever seen. It killed more people, cost more money, damaged
more property, affected more people, and caused more changes in nearly every country than any
other war. Some researchers say that penicillin was the key top secret weapon that helped the
allies win World War II. At the end of World War II the medical advancements that had been
discovered were then made available to the rest of civilization (Medicine and World War II). If any
good can be said to come of war, then the Second World War must go on record as assisting and
accelerating one of the greatest blessings that the 20th Century has conferred on Man the huge
advances in medical knowledge and surgical techniques. War, by producing so many and such
appalling casualties, and by creating such widespread conditions in which disease can flourish,
confronted the medical profession with an enormous challenge and the doctors of the world rose
to the challenge of the last war magnificently, Brian Ford (Medicine and World War Two). With
World War II at an end we have now began a whole new war. The war of bugs vs.

I am seeking an internship to continue my journey in dietetics. This journey began when I sat
through a dietetics informational segment during orientation week at college. I was fascinated in
what the director had to say and of all the opportunities for dietitians. At that moment, I finally
found my way onto the career path that was mine all along. That day, I decided to switch my major
from nursing to dietetics. I enjoy learning and having experience in food service and community
nutrition, but to my surprise, a family member s healthcondition drives me to pursue clinical
dietetics. My dad was born with chronic heart disease and currently has two aneurysms on his
heart. He was told that he needs to lose weight for his upcoming open heart surgery and he asked if
I would be able to help him out with that. I enjoy writing out healthy menus to help him achieve this
goal.
I have chosen the dietetic profession because I love to help others, and I have the patience and
compassion. I am excited to begin the next leg in my journey to becoming a clinical registered
dietitian. I want to help people control their nutrition when diseases or disorders that are controlling

Hunting Rifle Scope Research
There are eight parts to a hunting rifle scope; the objective lens, windage bell, elevation
adjustment, windage adjustment, power ring, eyepiece, ocular lens, and exit pupil. All of these
items pretty much speak for themselves, if you don t know what they are then simply pick of a
scope sometime and your sure to figure out pretty quick which part does what. While they come in
a variety of sizes, most huntingriflescopes look like a tube with an inch or thirty millimeter diameter.
Do not confuse rifle scopes with gun sights. The difference is that a rifle scope magnifies the
target while a gun sight does not. Different models of scopes are labeled by their magnification
range and diameter. For instance, a 3 8x30 scope can magnify the target

During a conversion at my family dinner my sister mentioned her small clothing store and she
also discussed how frustrating it is to manually track and record all of the high demanding items
in her store. My sister would like an easier solution for her problem. She decided she wanted an
automated system, but she told us that she has a very small budget. So she asked my mother and I
for any advice we can give for her store.
I mentioned to my sister that she should try using a Universal Product Code (UPC) which is a great
and affordable automated system for her small clothing store. Universal Product Code ... Show

Now that she has the software to create her bar codes she is going to need a printer as well to print
off her bar code labels. The Zebra thermal Barcode Printer is a basic bar code printer which would
be perfect for my sister s budget it allows my sister to print off bar code and also the price right
next to it and the bar code printer only costs $200.
The ongoing maintenance that will be required for this process is that for every item my sister
owns she will need to keep track on which code belongs to which item by typing the description
into the system. By her doing so it is letting the system know which code it belongs to what and
she wouldn t have any confusion on how many of that item she has left. That way whenever she
scans an item out of her inventory she will know exactly how many of that item she has left in
her inventory. My sister will also need to stock up on bar code labels for her bar code printer. She
would need to check her inventory every month now since it is an automated method instead of a
manual method which she would have to check up on inventory every week.

  • 2. Effects Of Racial Stereotypes On Television By Heather Doan Heather Doan, in her research essay Effects of Racial Stereotypes on Television, argues that racial stereotypes of different ethnic groups such as African Americans, Latinos, Asians, and Middle Easterners on television programs must come to an end because of their negative influences on the affected groups and viewers. First, stereotypesdescribe how individuals classify their beliefs about different social and ethnic groups. Television programs promote stereotypes of different groups by representing African Americans as violent criminals instead of victims and Latinos as illegal immigrants instead of working citizens. At the same time the programs promote Asians as coward nerds and Middle Easterners as possible terrorists. The repeated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For a start, her bias in only sharing the negative representations of each race in her essay shows that she needs to further her studies and include the positive representations. Furthermore, in each paragraph, she includes a list containing television shows and films that contains the stereotypes in talk of. Rather than simply stating Latino characters have a tendency to be maids, criminals, or comic buffoons in movies like Babel, Fun with Dick and Jane, Spanglish, and Cake, Doan should instead extend each example and describe the characters, as well as the specific stereotype they fit ... Langston Hughes is a good example of a hero because he helped his community and other young people in the world. Langston Hughes was one of the most important writers and thinkers of the Harlem Renaissance. He was born on February 1, 1902 and died May 22, 1967. This was the African Americanartistic movement in the 1920 s that celebrated black life and culture. Hughes was born in Joplin, Missouri. His mother was a schoolteacher, and she also wrote poetry. • 4. How Much Exposure And Media Did The Individual Experience... With the majority of the survey being nominal with question variation the range of the answers could be Strong Democrat all the way to Strong Republican, A question that leads the research is, How much exposure to media did the individual experience before voting and did that affect the way that individual voted? Because at the end of the questioning that is the real answer to the question we re asking. There is a noticeable differentiation in most of the questions asking how strong or weak an affiliation is or how strongly or how weakly a person feels about a well known political figure. No matter if the figure is currently in politics or in politics past. The main (independent) variable is whether a person went out and voted and the dependent variable is how much media, including television, radio, newspaper, and internet, influence was placed upon the person prior to the electionand whether or not that determined who he/she voted for. There are also outside factors that could affect the way that a person would interpret the election on television like region, state, news channel preference, etc. The list could go on because there are so many different types of media that so many different people have access too. In rural areas the only media received may be the local newspaper and a radio. The newspaper can be viewed as a way to gain more information because the articles are longer and more detailed. This way, some believe, better perceptions of the candidates are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Waimea Beach Research Paper It was a bright and sunny friday, school had just got out not 2 hours prior, and me and my family decided to head to the beach to start the weekend off before heading back to school that following monday. On our way there I realized they were heading to Waimea Beach which is a good 30 minutes from my house. I love Waimea beach, and has to be one of my favorite I ve ever been to. We had just pulled up and parked and I was making my way to a spot right by the water when I saw a big crowd. That s when I realised what day it was, it was high tide day, which meant the water was high enough, with crashing on us, so that people could jump. Waimea is known for many things there on the island, the amazing shrimp and food trucks, the enormous waves, very very ideal and perfect place to surf, and importantly that day, the cliff jump. This Cliff was well over 50 feet, had three different levels in case you couldn t, or rather wouldn t jump from the top, and had water... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt, Dicey, age 13, James, age 10, Maybeth, age 9, and Sammy, age 6, are abandoned by their mother in the middle of Connecticut in a parking lot. They have to find their way to Aunt Cilla s house because she is their only relative Dicey knows. With very little money and food, the Tillermans walk all the way to Bridgeport to find out that Aunt Cilla is dead and their Cousin Eunice is the only one there. They live with Cousin Eunice for a while, then later travel to their Grandma s house. To cite another instance, when the children were on the road, Dicey? Maybeth said. Yes, Maybeth, Dicey answered, without turning her head. Food, money, a way forward [on the road]. They had none. [Maybeth said] What s wrong? Dicey almost laughed. What s right? is what she wanted to answer, but she didn t speak. Never mind the way forward [on the road], you couldn t get without money and they had none, (p.94). This verifies that one symbol is the long road and it symbolizes all four children s hardships, their hopelessness, and their poverty because nothing right is going on in their lives. On the long road, you couldn t get money to buy food. That shows poverty. On the road, they have to walk a long way forward while they are hungry and tired. Now that the children are stopping and just giving up, it shows that they have no hope in themselves. If they had hope, Dicey could ve kept walking and find people to give her a job so she can earn money. For now, they are hopeless with no money or food on the long road. Another symbol is the sailboat and it symbolizes the hope the children need, and Dicey s want to be accepted and taken in by her grandmother. Furthermore, the sailboat is damaged and ugly, but Dicey finds hope in it, and had thoughts of fixing it and sailing it with her grandmother and siblings. For instance, when Dicey discovers the boat, the text states, A sailboat. It was small, only fourteen or fifteen feet. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summarizing the study, they selected 12 Murrah buffalo that had previously calved 2 or 3 before and were in early, 50 70 days, lactation during the study. The trial took place for a span of 60 days, 30 during the May June months and the other 30 in the August September months. 6 buffalo were placed under constantly running water showers (Group 1), while the other 6 were allowed to wallow in a water pond from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M (Group 2). They collected blood samples from both groups on 3 day intervals for both trial time periods, specifically testing for plasma thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), cortisol, and insulinhormones. During the study the buffalo had ad lib water and access to green maze fodder. They wanted to also see how differences in humidity would impact the effectiveness of the cooling methods and how it would impact the buffalos milk and feed yields. The average temperature humidity index (THI) was 80.3% during the hot dry season and 83.6 during the hot humid season. The results showed that the buffalo that wallowed in the water pond had a higher average plasma T4 and insulin level compared to those under water showers in the hot dry season. Plasma T3 levels weren t noticeably different between Group 1 and 2. Although Plasma cortisol concentration in Group 1 were higher when compared to Group 2 (4.80 vs. 2.60 ng/ml). In the ... Hostile aggression is aggression stemming from feelings of anger and aimed at inflicting pain or injury (Aronson, Wilson, Arkert, 2013, p. 453). So simply put, hostile aggressionis being violent and hurting someone because we are angry. According to our textbook, instrumental aggression is defined as aggression as a means to some goal other than causing pain (Aronson, Wilson, Arkert, 2013, p. 454). Instrumental Aggression is basically harming someone in service of some other goal and not to just hurt them. Essay on Ethical Issues with Social Media Current Ethical Issues with Social Media People are increasingly sharing their lives online through social networking sites with little concern for who may be viewing their information. This has become an issue in current times and is up for debate based on the ethical issues associated with Social Media. People don t realize joining a social network is like joining a community. As any community in real life, your business has a place in the community but should not invade one s privacy. Social networking is one of the most popular methods apart from forum marketing that is available to Internet users today. Places like MySpace and Facebook among others have gone from just social interaction spaces to a part time marketing program as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no legitimate appeal beyond them. That which produces the greatest amount of happiness is morally obligatory and nothing else. Legal Perspective In fact, the principle applies not only to morals but also to legislation. The purpose of laws is to maximize the total happiness of the community. Most ethics questions about the use of technology can be adequately answered by existing ethics rules without regard to medium or application. On a more fundamental level, most of the ethical pitfalls related to social networking can be prevented by a little forethought and exercise of common sense, without regard to ethics rules. The qualities of social networking which are so potentially problematic for lawyers are its immediacy, its accessibility, and its permanency. As a result, like all users of social media, lawyers can react to a situation instantaneously and publicly, with an online posting that will remain on the internet in some form forever. It is mostly going to include a discussion of the main themes of the movie and how the director presents these themes in forms of characters, the environment, etc. The Hunger Games is about a girl called Katniss Everdeen, a girl from district 12 who voluntarily takes her younger sisterВґs place as tribute in the Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death in which two teenagers from each of the twelve Districts of Panem are chosen at random to compete until death. There is more than one main theme in this movie; some examples of these are the inequality between rich and poor, suffering as entertainment and the importance of appearances. Once the dogs have defeated Cato, they don t kill him immediately, and Katniss realizes that the Gamemakers want Cato to remain alive because it creates an exceedingly gruesome spectacle. It is the finale of the Games, and so they want to deliver prolonged suffering the audience at home won t be able to turn away from. The suffering, however, doesn t have to be purely physical. It can be psychological as well. Katniss s and Peeta s romance, for instance, is the subject of so much fascination because it is presumed to be doomed. The Gamemakers changed the rules of the game just so they could get closer to each other, and in the end they changed it back so they had to kill each other in order to win. They always try to create as much suffering as possible for the tributes. Throughout the movie, Katniss and her team use her external appearance, including what she says and how she behaves, to control how other people perceive her. At the reaping ceremony, for instance, she won t allow herself to cry in front of the cameras because she doesn t want to give the impression of being weak (and therefore an easy target). Furthermore, at the opening ceremony of the Games, the novel emphasizes how important appearances are by focusing a great deal on Katniss s preparations. The main feature of this ... They did this to restore order and have a Holy Community. In the Crucible, by Arthur Miller, people are being accused of witch craft and the whole town goes crazy. There are a series of trials and multiple people are killed. In the Crucible, in an attempt to keep order and maintain a holy community greater chaos emerges. In the Crucible, the people of Salem are determined to keep order and to maintain a holy community. If people don t confess then they get killed and if a teenage girl faints in front of them then they are found guilty of witch craft. This displays the opposite image of a peaceful and godly community. People are lying and being killed for working for the devil even though both those acts are sins. They are so afraid of the devil yet they are committing his acts. When Mary Warren was being questioned about lying, Danforth asked her, Do you not know that God damns all liars? (Miller 101). Even though he is naming God he really means that they will damn her. He is declaring the government s right to do as they believe God would do. • 15. Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval drama were both very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance. However, from ancient Greece to the renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of methodology; their practitioners use a creative process based off of different mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres has had an evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects such as religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the distinct theatrical natures of Greek theatre and medieval dramawill be made apparent. Though both genres of theatre are closely tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval drama have different religious motivations that impact the ways in which the theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was used to entertain or please the Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important of the four Athenian festivals: the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to compete in the festival and submit three tragedies and one satyr play to be performed in front of approximately 15,000 spectators. In classical Greece, theatre was the center of citizenship and society; religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only realized by performances, but strongly encouraged by the state. For example, if a citizen could not afford to attend the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the properties of this gas include being odorless, tasteless, and colorless. The concentrations vary throughout the country depending on the types of rocks that are found in the soil. Exposure over prolonged periods of time to radon decay products has been associated with an increased risk of lung cancer.(3) The EPA describes an elevated concentration as being at or above their suggested guidelines of 4pCi/l (pico Curies per liter, used as a radiation unit of measure for radon). This is because the water must be heated or agitated to release the gas. This can happen in a shower, boiling water on a stove, or by using a washing machine. Most public water supplies don t present a radon risk, this is because the water is aerated at the treatment site and the gas escapes into the atmosphere. Most water that contains hazardous amounts of radon comes from wells. Wells should be tested for radon if the building that they are supplying contains hazardous amounts in the air. The testing procedures for water are different from those used on air.(16) Water containing radon can usually be treated. The most effective treatment is to remove radon from the water before it enters the home, this is called point of entry treatment. Water can also be treated at the tap, this is known as point of use treatment. However this treatment is much less effective at removing the risk.(17) Radon Entry Radon travels through the ground and into the air, allowing the gas to easily enter buildings and homes. ... • 19. Sentimentalism In Ah Q Early 20th Century Chinese Sentimentalities The True Story of Ah Q, as written in 1921 by Lu Xun, is widely seen as a magnum opus of contemporary Chinese literature. Xun wanted to alter the way of thinking as well as enlighten his fellow Chinese following the 1911 Revolution that overturned the final Chinese dynasty. Xun uses the protagonist of the story, Ah Q, as a representative of Chinaas a whole as he saw the nation to be, giving the reader an insight into social classes and attitudes that permeated Chinese society in the early 20th century. Xun does not paint a great picture of Ah Q and unfortunately, this is his opinion of Chinese society as a whole at the time. This portrayal of Chinese society is harsh and eye opening but to Xun, very accurate and necessary to transform the thinking of Chinese people at that time. During the early half of the 20th century, China was a struggling nation. The country was overwhelmingly controlled by foreign powers and had little to no autonomy. After losing the Opium Wars to Britain and France, coupled with an attack from the Japanese, the Chinese had very little control over China. These losses led to China also losing Control of the all important coastal ports that were very lucrative. The European influence permeated the Chinese country as people felt helpless with their wishes and voices not being heard. Under such circumstances, one could easily fall into a state of mind where they do not care. This is similar to the mindset and characteristics of Ah Q. Ah Q was seen as backwards, aloof, careless, but with an air of arrogance that was delusional. One common trait that comes from people feeling helpless is drug usage. People use drugs and alcohol to help cope with whatever issues they are having; this is no different for Ah Q. In one instance, the protagonist is seen drunk, cavorting around the village, apparently celebrating the fact that one of the elite from the village had passed an examination given by the county. In his state of drunkenness, Q proclaims that he has the same last name as the elite, and that they are related. According to the protocol the conduction of proper pre as well as post operating procedures are extremely mandatory. Therefore, by enforcing a standardized routine pre operating procedure such as verifying the patient as well as the correct site for the procedure, by having the medical staff or preferably the physician marking the operating site with his or her initials before the surgery will be an effective preventive measure (Mulloy Hughes 2008). Accumulated debris size at the cliff foot is determined geological factors which in turn determine the amount of erosion rate of cliff. Rock dip affects the surface morphology shape. Washboard relief develops in steeply dipping, thinly bedded strata. Smooth surface of platforms occurs when dip is shallow or horizontal.
