Building a more cohesive organisation using business architectureCraig Martin
In shifting the focus away from enterprise architecture being seen purely as an IT discipline, organizations are beginning to formalise the development of business architecture practices and business architecture outcomes.
The OpenGroup has made the differentiation between business, IT and enterprise architects through their various working groups and certification tracks.
However, industry at present is grappling to try and understand where the discipline of business architecture resides in the business and what value it can provide separate of the traditional project based business analysis focus.
This presentation will take the audience through an overview of some of the critical questions being asked by business and how these are addressed through the discipline of business architecture.
Using both method as well as case study examples, I will show the audience an approach to building more cohesion across the business landscape using business architecture techniques and artefacts.
The presentation will focus on using business motivation models, strategic scenario planning and capability based planning techniques to provide input into the strategic planning process.
It will also highlight some of the outputs through examples from engagements.
Digital Transformation ( DT) – the use of technology to radically improve and differentiate performance or reach of enterprises is becoming a hot topic for companies across the globe. Executives in all industries are using digital advances such as Analytic, Mobility, Social media and smart embedded devices and improving their use of traditional technologies such as ERP – to change customer relationships, internal processes, and value propositions. We continue to see how fast digital technology disrupted media industries in the past decade and it now spreading to all businesses irrespective of the domain and sectors.
How can top / senior management successfully lead digital transformation? While we all know and urge the team to get started on the digital transformation journey , few tell how to do it. This book gives a clear “ How” part .
I have also given in the summary few good case studies where digitization has impacted the business outcomes like Burberry , Asian Paints, Nike, Codelco, Starbucks , UPS etc.
The how part –Leading digital transformation
• Sharing a digital transformation vision across the enterprise ( not in piece mail – all businesses across the group need to envision the journey and be in sync)
• Gaining critical mass – inclusiveness
• Frame the digital challenges
• Focus investment on resources
• Sustaining the transformation
An excellent one to read.
1) The document discusses how to influence customer acquisition and retention by understanding the four forces that drive or stop customer progress: the pull of new solutions, the push of present solutions, anxiety around new solutions, and habit of present solutions.
2) It explains that customers switch to new solutions when the pull and push outweigh the anxiety and habit, and provides examples of product initiatives like pain relievers, gain creators, catalysers, and placebos to influence these forces.
3) The key takeaway is that grounding product initiatives in an understanding of the four forces helps link them to acquisition and churn, improving ROI.

RWDG Slides: Build an Effective Data Governance FrameworkDATAVERSITY
Data Governance frameworks are used to structure the core components of a Data Governance program. Frameworks add significant value for those organizations getting started and improve or address missing components for programs already in place.
This month’s RWDG webinar with Bob Seiner will focus on dissecting a common Data Governance framework and customizing the framework to match the needs of your organization. Frameworks can be complex to describe but, in this case, the framework will become the self-describing face of your program.
In this webinar, Bob will share:
- A customizable Data Governance framework
- Five core components of a Data Governance framework
- Five perspectives for addressing each component
- Using a framework to select an approach to Data Governance
- Detailed descriptions of each component from each perspective

Dissenyar i aplicar projectes a Secundària. Tipus i estratègiesjdomen44
Ponència “Dissenyar i aplicar projectes a Secundària.

The document discusses plans to create a portal with research information from Catalan universities. It describes consolidating existing university repositories and services into a new consortium. The proposed Research Portal of Catalonia (PRC) would harvest and aggregate research output data from various university repositories and databases. Decisions made for the PRC include using ORCID identifiers, the DSpace+CINECA CRIS software, and the CERIF data exchange format. Current achievements include exporting sample data from universities and implementing ORCID in their systems. Future work includes fully implementing the PRC, designing interfaces, and developing mechanisms for ingesting and harmonizing data.
Gartner's Hype Cycle for 2013 identifies emerging technologies and maps out their development and adoption, positioning them across five phases: innovation trigger, peak of inflated expectations, trough of disillusionment, slope of enlightenment, and plateau of productivity. The document discusses several technologies, including big data, cloud computing, collaborative environments, actionable analytics, geolocation, and lean methodology. It provides numerous references for further reading on each technology.
