Examples were provided of building a media architecture on AWS using Ruby.
UCL launched their site on iTunes U in June 2008 after being approached by Apple for a pilot test in 2007. They began with around 150 items of content and have grown to over 1,500 items with about 12,000 downloads per month. Their iTunes U program is structured into three parts - Online Media, iTunes U, and Lecture Capture - all overseen by a Teaching & Learning Support Sub-Committee. They plan to further develop their private site, redesign their public site, and continue expanding their Online Media Application which allows uploading of files to various platforms.
This document discusses UCL's adoption of iTunes U and the development of their podcasting and online media services. It describes how UCL began experimenting with podcasting, their pilot project with iTunes U, building out their team and content, and increasing integration with their virtual learning environment and other systems. It also outlines future plans like improved automation, a private iTunes U site, and expanding communications through YouTube and other channels.
Jeremy Speller discusses UCL's experience with providing lecture content on iTunes U. UCL launched on iTunes U in 2008 after being approached by Apple. They initially captured 150 events totaling 200 hours of content. Usage has grown significantly, with over 1,500 items and 300,000 downloads to date. UCL also provides private streaming of this content integrated into their learning management system to benefit students. Future plans include further developing the private site and an online media application to streamline the ingest and distribution of content.

This document provides an overview of podcasting, including how it works, common misconceptions, and how to listen to and create podcasts. Podcasting allows audio files to be distributed over the internet for playback on mobile devices and computers. Users can subscribe to podcasts using syndication feeds and software to automatically download new episodes. The document discusses using iTunes to listen to podcasts and addresses questions about how podcasts may change the classroom model and issues around ownership and copyright of content.
Podcasting and videocasting involve publishing audio or video files on the internet that users can subscribe to via RSS feeds. Users then use podcatching client software to automatically download new files and store them on their computers or sync them to devices like iPods. Creating podcasts requires audio or video files stored on a web server with an accompanying RSS feed file that provides information on locating the files for podcatching clients to access and download.
This is my JavaOne 2007 session. It's based in part on the Beyond Blogging presentation that I presented to a tiny audience at the local Tri-XML in 2006. Tim Bray didn't attend my talk, but he read the slides and called them "the single best introduction and overview I’ve ever seen about feeds and syndication and RSS and Atom and all that stuff."
Community, metadata, ranking and websites that grow over time are attributes of Web2.0. What else? Come to the University of Cheikh Anta Diop Campus, ESP. Then, stroll over to the first meeting of SeneJUG and find out. Mike Levin will tell you all about Web2.0 and even show you some snippets in Java. We’ll talk about mashups, semantics, custom RSS feeds based on smart filters, tags and tag clouds, and a glimpse into the future. We’ll check out a fantastically popular Web2.0 website and do a feature walkthrough so you’ll be clear about the Web2.0 features. You’ll walk away with some facts and a few ideas that might inspire you to write your own Web2.0 website.
This presentation discusses tools and methods for capturing, converting, and distributing content for mobile devices.
