This document provides suggestions for new games and activities that residents of Tucson, Arizona can participate in to get out of their homes, explore and learn about their city, meet new people, and have fun. Some of the activities proposed include organizing scavenger hunts, volunteering, participating in flash mobs, playing dice games to randomly explore different neighborhoods, and forming teams to help clean up local parks covertly. The overall aim is to encourage socialization and engagement within the community.

- Tonight I’m going to help you get out of your house more often to explore this wonderful city of ours (I hope ;-). First, I wanted to share my story with you. My journey with games started many years ago when I was in Middle School.
- It all really started for me with a game called D&D or Dungeons and Dragons. I loved getting together with my friends and creating new worlds and new characters and then sending those characters on an adventure. The best part of D&D was playing with friends.
- Oops, not those friends. Seriously though, for me the best part was the social interaction involved with my friends. I still remember late nights we had playing D&D and other games and generally just having fun with each other.
- Most are played through the computer and the actual social nature of the game is gone (or deeply hidden). So, how do we bring that social interaction back? To answer that question we need to examine a few underlying issues first.
- How many of you know your neighbors, beyond a passing wave or smile? After living in 4 different neighborhoods in Tucson I realized that at most I knew maybe 2 or 3 of my closest neighbors and almost none of my furthest neighbors. Now I’d like to step one more layer out from your neighborhood.
- How many of you would like to learn more about your city? Your community? Its history? Even though I’ve lived here for nearly 20 years there are still places that I haven’t been to in Tucson
- Finally, how many of you feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Go to the same places Same restaurants, parks, etc. - Me too
- So, how do we change (some) of these things? By making a game out of exploring our city! Games have rules, challenges, and benefits (of some kind or another)
- Dice Walk At each intersection roll a 6 sided die 1-2 go left 3-4 go straight 5-6 go right Modify for different intersections

- More complex games. Three ingredients. People. Places. Things to do.
- But why do all of this on your own? We’re already making this game for you. It’s called The Human Mosaic Project, and you can find it at http://thmp.in In our version you can earn badges for completing assignments and attending events The more badges you get the more assignments and areas of the site start to unlock for you
- What are some other applications for this game? You could use it to organize a Flash Mob Giant pillow fit Zombie Walk Stand on a corner and protest nothing
- You could use it to help organize and motivate volunteers in your community Find volunteers Find causes to join locally Do good
- You could use it to help motivate yourself and your friends to get out and do more physically Get friends together and go to a park Get in touch with your inner kid and play kickball, fly a kite Do something fun, physical and out of the ordinary
- Or focus on assignments that would help you become a better you. Find a Zen spot in your city and share that Go on a walk with your neighbor Form a debate club and argue a different side
