What role does matter play in making social worlds secure...
What role does matter play in making social worlds secure or insecure?
The aim of this essay is to illustrate the role that matter plays in making social worlds secure or
insecure.
This introduction will give a brief overview of what this essay will include, also giving brief
definitions of any key theories and concepts that will be used throughout.
To discuss the role that matter has in the securities and/ or insecurities of social worlds, this essay will
use examples which are discussed in the DD308 course book Security: Sociology and Social worlds.
(Carter et al, 2008).
There are a number of questions that will be discussed in this essay such as, what do sociologists mean
when they refer to something as matter ? What is a social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All this has added to the growing popularity of the Harry Potter brand that is everywhere today. Young
readers can relate to Harry s issues and the books create another world the readers can subconsciously
escape too.
The Harry Potter stories are a great example to show how matter can affect the social world s people
live in and can be used to demonstrate the power branding can have on the world around us.
Due to the massive popularity of the books, Warner decided to capitalise on their popularity and turn
them into films, and due to the movies, paraphernalia and huge cult following, the Harry Potter
franchise is worth an estimated £2.2 billion (Simmons, 2005). The Harry Potter franchise is a good
example of the theory of psycho social (the psychological relationship readers have with the books)
and also we can see how the franchise plays on these feelings to mediate messages to various social
and cultural groups, by looking at this franchise one can see how inner emotional security is
developed and used for profitable gain.
Another example of people s insecurities being used for profitable gain which is addressed in the book
Security: Sociology and Social worlds. (Carter et al, 2008) is that of Gated communities and SUV S
(sports utility vehicles). Gated communities are growing rapidly in

Reflection On Reflection
My reflection will consist of three focuses such as, reflections on personal growth, areas of
improvement. comparison of essays. I will be discussing some of the elements that I started to learn
through the class. My personal growth as well as starting factors in my learning abilities. The question
of my writing involvement will be entered this discussion as well.
First, my Cornell notes weren t very directly to the main idea. For example, in my Cornell note 01 on
October 05, you can see my questions are very short with minimal answers. However, in my Cornell
note 04 on Oct 26, you can see my questions start to become more precise and to the point. As time
went on in this course, my writing style changed to organizing my thoughts by following directions
closely.
Secondly, I would do less highlighting by miss the main idea for the book. I would put stars next to
conversations as well as highlight key factors such as dates, landmarks, followed by the names of the
main characters in my annotations. I would observe and analyze the focus of the book, Refuge . The
words from the book, Refuge are higher level than what I currently read.
However, starting this book has made me realize that I can learn new words. My grammar and
vocabulary had become stronger by my involvement in this class. For example, my vocabulary 01 on

Protest Methods Of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a human rights activist who fought for the independence of India
from British Rule. His revolutionary protest methods inspired the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. and
others. However, many despised Gandhi s methods. One night, Gandhi, after shaming the city of
Delhi, was heading to a prayer meeting and it was there that Nathuram Godse fired three point blank
shots at Gandhi, killing him on the spot. Gandhi s assassination was justified because he employed
controversial protest methods, he defied British Rule, and he combined conflicting religions which
caused confusion in his community. Many may say that Gandhi did many great things, but those
positives are outweighed by the negatives.
To begin with, Gandhi continuously employed controversial and illegal methods to protest the
injustices that his people faced. For example, Gandhi led a satyagraha due to the prohibition of salt
exportation to India from countries other than Britain. According to This Day in History, Gandhi set
out from Sabarmati with 78 followers on a 241 mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on the
Arabian Sea. There, Gandhi and his supporters were to defy British policy by making salt from
seawater (paragraph 3). This action was literally illegal. Similarly in 1920, America banned the
production and distribution of alcohol. However, many individuals decided to make and distribute
alcohol or have it imported. They were called bootleggers. Gandhi s actions were comparable

Historical Declaration Analysis
My reactions to the historic declaration were mixed. On the one hand, I felt that the historic
declaration was reasonable and essential. The Declaration endows the indigenous peoples with basic
human rights as other people. It ends suffering of indigenous peoples and justifies their rights to self
determination, identity, ownership of land, culture, and many other issues. I am happy for indigenous
peoples and grateful for the United Nations efforts. On the other hand, I felt sorry for our behaviors
and words. Indigenous peoples are the same with other peoples, such as Americans, Canadians, and
Australians. However, they have been discriminated and unfairly treated for a long time and the
discrimination still exists after the Declaration was

Julius Cicero Research Paper
Marcus Tullius Cicero was murdered on December 7, 43 B.C.E. which was around the time of the fall
of the Roman Republic. Cicero was many things such as an orator, lawyer, politician, philosopher, and
writer. His writings, to this day, are a valuable source of information about such political events and
was widely read in the 19th century. He also was dubbed one of the greatest philosophers of the
ancient era. One of his greatest pieces was Hortensius. This writing was based on himself turning
away from his sinful life and moving forward to God.
1. Cicero s Life
Cicero had a great political career. He defied the odds of what it took to be in politics. Usually, in
politics, you need to aristocratic and wealthy. Cicero and his family were aristocratic; however, they
were not wealthy. Ambition at a young age is what drove him to this success.
Cicero chose his career in law. He needed to prepare for this by studying jurisprudence, rhetoric,
philosophy, and also taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was a philosopher that was debatable just about how good he was or not. In some centuries, he was
dubbed to be one of the greatest philosophers and on the other hand, he wasn t that great of a writer.
Philosophy, at the time, was popular in Greece, but not so much in Rome. They were more concerned
about politics and their governance. In order for philosophy to appeal to the Romans, he had to
translate his writing from Greek to Latin. Cicero wrote many different dialogues about his
philosophies. However, one piece that was well known was the Hortensius. In that dialogue, he was
known to have converted St. Augustine to be a Christian. Augustine then adopted some of his
philosophy on the Hortensius to argue against others that Christians were not the cause to the fall of
the Roman empire. This related to the work that was done after Caesar took over the Empire. People
started to blame others and Augustine tried to turn their views

A Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood
In a A Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood, readers see a world go from what it once used to be to
total totalitarianism. In this now cruel world called Gilead, we see people stripped from their original
identities, and no longer free. Furthermore, they are brainwashed to believe and abide by new
regulations and rules, and the ones that rebel or no longer are of any use for the government end up
dead. Besides the narrator who is now named Offred in this new society, her past friend Moira from
the pre totalitarian world, is a central figure of hope in the story. Moira becomes a rebel and fights to
win back her freedom, but ultimately that thirst to outsmart the government, leads to her ultimate
destruction. Moira in the pre chaotic world, was a lesbian, logical, stood up for herself, and was a
feminist, which in the world of Gilead, is no longer acceptable. Women were basically now used as
sex slaves and made to have children for others. They had many opportunities to become impregnated

Henry Rifle Essay
The Henry Lever Action Rifle may not have been the first lever action built and used but it was the
most practical and is one of the most iconic rifles of all time. This amazing rifle was used by wealthier
men, men on the homefront, in the Civil War, saw a little time in the indian wars, and later on in the
old west. The Henry Rifle was built in 1860 by Benjamin Tyler Henry. The rifle works by first cocking
the hammer back halfway to start the process, in many lever actions this was the only safety, then load
in your ammunition through the side or bottom of the receiver. As you load the ammunition into the
receiver it goes down through a tube on the bottom of the barrel, inside the fore stock. When the
ammunition goes through the fore stock it presses on a spring, once you have all 16 17 rounds in the
rifle you then press down on the lever or cock it. Once you cock ... Show more content on

all of that combined with the extreme rate of fire made this a gun no to mess with. Even though this

During the Civil War in the U.S. the Union bought a few rifles for their men, but more guns were

Michelangelo s Sistine Chapel
Michelangelo always saw himself as a sculptor, even though some of his most famous works are his
paintings and architecture. In Michelangelo s words, Painting is beautiful in the measure that it

ordered Michelangelo to decorate the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in fresco, Michelangelo rebelled.
The Sistine Chapel is an example of Michelangelo s impatience with others as previously mentioned.

Giuliano Bugiardini, Aristotile da Sangallo, Francesco Granacci and several laborers. However, the

Between the year of 1853 and 1902, the rulers of the European countries were enthusiastic about

Q: X.805 security architecture, how it compares with the X.800 network security access architecture
A: X.805 architecture was developed by the Telecommunications standardization sector of the
International Telecommunications Union X.805 (ITU T X.805) on October 2003 to provide end to end
transmission of data from one network to another.
The Security architecture logically separates complicated arrangement of end to end system s security
related features into discrete architectural components. This discretion allows a certain systematic way
to deal with end to end security that can be utilized for planning of new security solutions and for
accessing the security of the current networks. The security architecture gives a complete, top down,
end to end point of view of system security and can be connected to network components,
administrations, and applications keeping in mind the end goal to distinguish, anticipate, and correct
security vulnerabilities.
There are various threats that should be taken into consideration since these threats are likely to
destruct, corrupt remove disclose or interrupt any information or services that helps in the efficiency
of an application.
The main issues that X.805 addresses are shown below:
1. What are the threats that can occur and what kind of protection can be provided?

Another setting quite effectively featured is St. Peter s hospital, housing battered Riker. Entering the
dim and gloomy cafeteria, contrasting the brightly lit, disinfected, starched white walls of the hospital

The courtroom, where most of the action takes place, is the epitome of law and order. The squeaky

importance of all which takes place in this setting. Other settings also lend credit to the film, the
tackiness of Bruiser Stone s office, the peace and beauty represented at the jewellry store where Riker

share a tender moment. All settings are effectively and appropriately chosen and are very apt in
relevance to the storyline of the film.

Calypso is one of the most significant traditions in the Caribbean Music Industry. Come, Mister tally
man, tally me banana, daylight come and me wan go home, are the words to a famous calypso song
recorded by Harry Belafonte in 1956. The Free Dictionary defines calypso music as a type of music
that originated in the West Indies, notably in Trinidad, and is characterized by improvised lyrics on
topical or broadly humorous subjects . It can also be said that calypso is a certain style of music which
incorporates rhythms that are typical of African music. This type of music is seen played during

to Manuel (2006), Sparrow demonstrated year after year, with his social commentaries that the
calypsonian is really the eyes and ears of the people. Aldwyn Roberts, better known as Lord Kitchener
, shares with Mighty sparrow the title of the world s best known Calypso singer (Manuel, 2006).
Aldwyn Roberts was the son of a blacksmith, Stephen, and homemaker Albertha. Kitchener s success
began after he moved to England in 1948. His fame continued throughout the 1950s, when calypso
achieved international success (wikipedia.org). He began his career in Trinidad and won his first Road
March award for singing in 1946. He and the Mighty Sparrow proceeded to dominate the calypso
competitions of the sixties and seventies. It has been stated that Lord Kitchener won the road march
competition ten times between 1965 and 1976, more times than any other calypsonian. In the 1950s,
he explored West Africa and enjoyed a big hit there with his single, Nora . Farlex mentioned that for

Short Story The Chair On Top Of The World
In the two short stories The chair on top of the world by Stuart Baum and All summer in a day by Ray
Bradbury, I will be comparing Tomas, the main character from The chair on top of the world and
Margot, the main character from All summer in a day . I will be comparing what Tomas s personality
to Margot s personality. In The chair on top of the world , Tomas, the main character attempts to find
the chair that is on top of the world. In his journey, he meets a unicorn and 2 dragons that assist him
on his quest to find the chair on top of the world. In the end, Tomas figures out that since the world is
a sphere, Wherever he stands, he will most likely be on top of the world. All summer in a day , in this
short story, Margot, a 4 year old girl moves from Earth to Venus. 5 years later, she has grown tired of
this planet s heavy rain and wants to sun to rise. A few days later, she hears that scientists predict the
sun will be finally coming out again. Margot becomes extremely excited. But the problem is that
before the teacher gets to class, William the bully and his gang lock Margot in a closet and they go off
to play in the sun. Then after 1 hour, the rain starts again. So the children gloomily unlocked the closet
and let Margot out. That was those 2 stories. In my opinion, I like Tomas s personality more than
Margot s because Tomas is braver than Margot, the role he plays is better than Margot, and Tomas gets
along better with other characters than Margot does. One reason why I like Tomas s personality is that
he persevered until the very end. It s not up here, said the tiny dragon. Do you know where it is? asked

Animal Imagery In Fairy Tales
Historiographical Essay Over time, historians have interpreted the use of animal imagery in western
folk and fairy tales as a means for providing entertainment and moral lessons to western society.
However, many historians have different ideas about how animal imagery and stereotypes actually
affect a society besides keeping away from wolves and bears and such. Dr. Jack Zipes, a professor of
German and comparative literature, promotes in his paper, What Makes a Repulsive Frog So
Appealing: Memetics and Fairy Tales, that the story of The Frog Prince is actually a story about the
strategies of mating and how the frog symbolizes its appearance of an unsuitable mate to a suitable
one. In addition to how specific animal stereotypes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whatever the minor variations, Zipes argues that there are elements that are the same throughout that
become the metaphors that strengthen his mating strategy theory. Starting at the beginning, the
princess is young and has reached puberty, most likely with her golden ball symbolizing her virginity
and purity. She brings out the ball to play with as a means of showing her availability and losing the
ball in the water is representing how she is testing out the waters for suitable mates. However, an
unsuitable mate, the frog, shows up and she rejects him. This rejection, Zipes argues, reflects the
rejection by women who were forced into arranged marriages by their fathers either based on
appearance, age, or wealth. However, the princess s father says she must do what the frog says, which
is to sleep in her bed, which further symbolizes the struggles of an arranged marriage. However, in the
1857 version of the tale, the princess throws the frog against the wall to show her sexual
independence, because she knows that she must bear an heir and that he will be an unsuitable mate
that will neither make her children healthy and strong of give them financial security. Through this
display of sexual independence, and the frog transforms into a handsome prince, becoming a more
suitable mate for the princess . In a contrasting point against the external conflict between human

Integrity In Sir Thomas More s A Man For All Seasons
In A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More, the plot s protagonist, displays a reoccurring theme of
integrity. According to Webster s Dictionary, integrity is the adherence to moral and ethical principles;
and soundness of moral character. Dedicated to not losing himself by consenting to the King s divorce,
Thomas More continually shows the adherence to his morality rather than the wishes of those around
him. Even though this historic drama ultimately ends in the beheading of Sir Thomas More, his
integrity shows his devotion towards himself, his piety towards his country, and his self respect that
contrasts with the other characters.
The theme of integrity is portrayed through More s devotion to himself. The author, Robert Bolt,

morals are distinguished by his way to form into whatever character a position holds, which contrasts
with More s morals because More will not be anything except himself. Rich s selfishness in pleasing
his own self reflects the morals that he has because he has a desire to have power, popularity, and
recognition from society.. A man with an adamantine sense of his own self . . . could yield to the

The zombies body was in remarkably good shape, the flesh wounds had healed quickly due to the
nano tech. Zero stretched the things tendons before waking Dana from her slumber. She had taken a
knock during the crash and had suffered a minor concussion. The wild look in her eyes was enough to
tell him she was wide awake now and he left her alone. Something about this body disturbed the
human and it was something Zero couldn t understand. The Tic pod was cramped at best holding a
small squad and not much more. Releasing the hatch he watched as powerful hydraulics forced open a
jaw like structure designed to tear open enemy ships. The wall crumbled under the pressure, opening a
clear path into the next room. Dust swirled in the air and the lights flickered giving the room a
menacing feel, although to the artificial intelligence they were all just variables that could not be

flesh. Not used to smelling anything the sensation was not unpleasant, just interesting. Having
advanced the mech body far enough Zero started the time cloak. He didn t expect it to go unnoticed
but it might at least buy them a little time and give them an opportunity for a few cheap shots. He gave
a nod to Dana who was just exiting the pod, her shaken, gaunt look actually portraying her readiness
quite well. The gravity of the situation had hit her hard, but she kept on regardless. Once more, Zero

An Additional Area Of Contention Within The Literature
An additional area of contention within the literature regards the effects of polling on voters. The
majority of scholars support the idea that polling publication does indeed have an effect on voters. On
the lower end of the influence scale, scholars such as Cutler et al. (2012:282) conclude that poll
reporting is potentially an autonomous influence on the behaviour of voters as they reason their way to
electoral decisions. However, their study does not delve too heavily into the actual empirical influence
of poll reporting s effects, but rather alludes to its potential effects. More comprehensive studies of the
1988 election in Canada found that polling had a much larger effect on voting behaviour (Blais,
Gidengil and Nivette 2006:272). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, during times of negative news for a party, undeclared voters would, in turn, state that they
were less likely to vote for said party (ibid). However, this study concluded by finding that when it
came down to election day, there was no clear evidence that these reported voting intentions, as a
result of polling publication or news stories, influenced undecided voters when they reached the
voting booth, as the influence was not found to be statistically significant (ibid:39 40).
Normative Assessments: Effects of Polling Publication on Democracy? Most of the literature
discussed in the above chapters has been fairly empirical in its findings. However, some of the current
literature discussing the nature of polling publication and its influence on voters have also brought
normative claims to their studies. These normative claims operate under the assumption that polling
publication is indeed influencing voter decisions, and subsequently ask: what do the effects of voter
influence from polling publication mean for Canadian democracy? In response to this question, two
sides have emerged in the debate; a majority of scholars who believe polling publication is negatively
affecting democracy, and a small minority who believe polling publication is benefiting democracy.
Those who believe polling publication is negatively affecting Canadian democracy argue two claims.
Firstly, due to the influence polling publications have on

Webster defines anxiety as fear or nervousness... while the DSM 5 says Anxiety disorders differ from
developmentally normative fear or anxiety by being excessive... beyond developmentally appropriate

difference in the two ideas is stark: one is something that everyone experiences and the other is a

First Piece Of Art By Maria F. Simoes
The majority of us see art every day, sometimes we just fail to take notice of it. While other times we
notice it, but we fail to really see it. Seeing is a more open, receptive, and focused version of looking. I
was able to see some incredible pieces of art at the Kings Art Center. They were holding an exhibition
by artist Maria F. Simoes and it gave me the opportunity to compare multiple works from the same
artist, which was very interesting. The first piece of art by Maria F. Simoes that caught my eye was
Windmill (2). The Simoes created this piece using oil on canvas, which is her medium of choice for
many of her paintings. This piece is a landscape painting featuring a windmill in a scenic rural setting.
Simoes used color to give the piece some variety, while unifying it using shapes and patterns. The
pattern of the stone walls is mimicked in the stone base of the windmill, while the shapes of the tops
of the bushes is very similar to the tops of the clouds. The red used for the top of the windmill lends
some variety. The color also draws the eye, emphasizing the intended focal point, while creating
interesting contrast.
The artist uses the flower that sets low on the picture plane in the left corner for multiple purposes. It
helps balance the painting, while creating depth. The large flower appears very close to the viewer,
while the windmill seems small in proportion and much further away. The fact that it and the blue
flower in the lower right overlap the stone

Five Forces Analysis
The enthusiasm and excitement of starting a new business can quickly diminish when you realise you
are faced with the task of analysing the complex business landscape that is spread out in front of you.
The number of factors to consider can be overwhelming leading to errors in judgement and
unnecessary risk taking. This article aims to assist you in tackling this process by providing a
simplified overview of the Five Forces Analysis model. This is not a step by step guide, nor a list of
dos and don ts, but rather a set of factors that should be considered when assessing the competitive
intensity and attractiveness of a market. The Five Forces Analysis was created by Harvard Professor
Michael Porter in 1979 and it provides a framework for industry analysis and business development.
Porter proposes there to be five forces which either inhibit or prohibit a company s ability to succeed
in a given market.
1. Threat of new entrants
2. Threat of substitutes
3. Bargaining power of buyers
4. Bargaining power of suppliers
5. Intensity of rivalry
Threat of new entrants
A market is much more attractive if it is difficult to enter. This may sound odd at first as it seems more
logical to pursue a market that is easy to enter. However, if you can do it so can everyone else, and if it
is extremely easy for other businesses to enter a market with little skill, experience or start up costs
you will find it extremely difficult to create and capture any value from that market.

The Effect Of Photosynthesis On Plants And The Cycle Of...
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now. This anonymous quote is a
direct reference to the issue of pollution, and the ramifications and effects it has on plants and the
cycle of photosynthesis. Pollution not only directly effect plants and the cycle of photosynthesis, but
pollution can also indirectly harm other elements that contribute to the life of a plant and the cycles it
performs.
Photosynthesis is the cycle in which light energy converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and
oxygen by ways of a chemical reaction (Robinson 2015). Photosynthesis , overall a fairly simple
process, has couple complex reactions. To fully understand the cycle, it should be broken down into
two simple stages. These stages can be divided up into light reactions and the Calvin Cycle. In the first
step of photosynthesis, the light reaction, solar energy is converted into the form of chemical energy.
This entails the chlorophyll absorbing light from the sun and transforming it into NADP+ (nicotin
amide ademine dinucleotide phosphate) and ATP, through means of a chemical reaction. During the
second stage, the Calvin cycle, the plant takes in CO2, and processes it through the chloroplast.
Following it converts the carbons into carbohydrates by adding electrons using chemical energy such
as ATP. The end result of this stage is sugar and oxygen. The process of photosynthesis occurs
primarily in the chlorophyll of the leaf. The leaf also has a structural

W. E. B. Dubois Cultural Context
I decided to focus my discussion on W.E.B. Du Bois and the cultural context at the time. W.E.B. Du

Unfortunately, he missed Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream speech, and he died on the eve of that
speech. Du Bois worked with a lot of organizations like the National Association for the Advancement
of Colored People (NAACP). He was born in 1868 in Massachusetts. Five years ago, Abraham
Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation which made slavery illegal in America. Du Bois
attended Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. He went to college in 1885 while times were

Du Bois wanted to fight racial inequality and unfair treatment, so he fought by teaching and educating
people. He thought educating people would cause people to realize the problems of discrimination and
unfair treatment by color. Moreover, education would change the minds and souls of people. Due to
the historical events, the KKK, and racial inequities, this drove Du Bois to write The Souls of Black
Folk. The Souls of Black Folk focuses on the color line problem, how African Americans suffer like
their low financial success, and racial inequities. The Souls of Black Folk is one of Du Bois s most
famous and influential books. Du Bois s ultimate goal in The Souls of Black Folk is to promote the
concept of human brotherhood. Also, his goal in that book is to not have a color line because it breaks
human relationships and societies apart. An interesting fact about Du Bois is he was the first African
American to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard. After multiple school degrees, he set off writing and

The Motif Of Entrapment By Edith Wharton
Executive Order 9066, passed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1942, forced all Japanese
Americans to pack up their lives and move to internment camps, a place where they would live in
shabby barracks and get treated unfairly by guards. This order confineded the American citizens in
heinous camps for up to three years. Because of their heritage, which could be as little as one sixteenth
Japanese, the citizens were obligated to move; they became trapped in these camps where unhappiness
was present in every aspect of life. Similarly, in the novel Ethan Frome, the title character is trapped in
his unhappy life due to marriage, family, property, and financial liabilities. The author, Edith Wharton
uses the motif of entrapment to prove how obligations lead to unhappiness throughout the novel.
Ethan Frome and his wife, Zenobia (Zeena), never really know what true love feels like because they
are both very lonely people. They meet when Zeena is caring for Ethan s mother; due to their
loneliness, they mistake the bizarre feeling of companionship for love. Ethan marries Zeena, not
because he is in love, but because he does not want to be alone and he feels like he owes it to her for
everything she is doing for him. She is aware of this and claims, ...you grudged me the money to get
back my health, when I lost it nursing your own mother! And my folks all told me at the time you
couldn t do no less than marry me after (Wharton 83). In addition to Zeena saying that Ethan

Separation Distress And Traumatic Distress
on these facts, I intend to have Gary do two different empty chair exercises by placing both Chris and
himself in the chair at different points during his therapy. As important as it is for Gary to experience
and work through the emotions associated with Chris s death, I do not believe that this alone will be
enough to help him work through his grief. Matthews and Marwit (2004) suggest that complicated
grief is a pattern of non normative behavior triggered by the loss of a loved one. The authors argue
that complicated grief may resemble depression while often also including symptoms relating to
separation distress and traumatic distress, illustrated by Gary s feelings of loneliness and rumination
over his relationship with Chris in addition to his anger, guilt, and social isolation. This article
describes how, traditionally, it was thought that a bereaved person needed to go through grief work by
confronting and processing emotions associated with the loss of a loved one. However, this
confrontation of emotion may not be enough and recovery may also require addressing the cognitions
of the bereaved person. In addition, the authors of this study suggest a dual process model in which
the bereaved person oscillates between confronting various types of stressors, then taking a break from
those stressors. By utilizing EFT, Gary will essentially be doing grief work by experiencing the
emotions associated with loss. Experiencing his feeling of guilt may trigger cognitions such

Most people can agree, Hamlet is one of the most memorable and famous plays in existence. Prince
Hamlet himself is a main contribution to that fact. After his father s death, mother s near instant

definitely pushed to its limit. The young prince of Denmark is driven to madness and plots his revenge
through until his death. He doesn t allow himself to be close to anyone or share his true thoughts and
feelings with anyone but the audience, and on occasion, Horatio, who can be identified as Hamlet s
likely true friend. Hamlet was unable to finish college due to the wishes of his mother and has no

Why Do Tattoos Should Be Judged
Tattoos tell a story about who a person is and what they stand for. Some people see past the true story
and judge by what they see. People get judged for getting tattoos because they can prove a person is a
delinquent. Tattoos should be accepted and not judged because they are a way for people to express
themselves, show artistic freedom and creativity, and show religious views. First of all, tattoos show
self expression. For example, people get tattoos of quotes or designs that have a meaning behind them.

The American Dream Of Home Ownership
Too many Americans have fallen victim to the crisis that has become the norm for our citizens these
days. Lenders no longer want to work with individuals who have gone through the foreclosure process
and for many it is not only their homes they lose. Some have lost their jobs and/or families, others fall
into a deep depression and worst of all some have taken their own lives. An alternative would be for
lenders to add a true customer service department which is not based on pay or get out, but is
counseling based to keep Americans in the American Dream of home ownership. This would not only
keep their customers for future business with new home loans, but would be noticed by neighbors and
the community who are appreciative their home values are not decreasing. The lenders would counsel
them through the sale by assisting them with getting the most they can for their home. By getting local
community organizations involved to help with home repairs and curb appeal. Once the home is
market ready and a dollar amount has been reached for these repairs the home owner will have to
volunteer time and/or resources to assist another person going through the same situation. This would
not only help the homeowner but will keep homes in the area selling at a fair market value and not
bring down the values in their neighborhood. The assistance provided by the lenders and assistance
from the community will help build their self confidence and make them feel like they are not alone.

The Two Pieces Of Paintings
The two pieces of artworks from the list of sacred places I chose to compare were the Ziggurat of Ur
in Iraq and the Great Stupa in India. The first piece of Artwork was originally located in the city of Ur,
it is called the Ziggurat of Ur. The Ziggurat of Ur was built by the Sumerians. The Sumerians were the
first group of people in Mesopotamia, known as the cradle of civilization. They invented the first form
of writing known as cuneiform, along with the wheel. Sumerians worshipped many Gods and
Goddesses in temples or located in ziggurats (Gateways to Art, 2012, p.371). Ziggurats are known as
Mesopotamian temples or pyramids that grew in size toward the bottom, constructed from mud and
bricks. The Ziggurats were man made mountains which housed Gods and Goddesses. The Ziggurats of
Ur happen to resemble the Egyptian pyramids however they weren t produced to specifically to bury
the decease. The authors of Gateways to Art summarizes: The architectural design of the Ziggurats of
Ur is mudbrick structures made up of three stepped levels, accessed by stairways or ramps...the lowest
level is about 50ft. high and about 210 by 150 ft. in area, with others decreasing in size as they get
closer to the heavens...while the topmost platform is more than 100 ft. high (Dewitte, Larmann,
Shields, 2012, p.565). The priest is the only person that has access to the top floor of the Ziggurat of

Albert Einstein: Theoretical Physicist, Mathematician, Genius
Even in the year 2015, when asking the question, who is the smartest person in history? you are likely

is certainly not an easy title to earn, but when you look at who Albert Einstein is to the world, his
achievements, and the work he has done for not only the scientific community, but for the entire
world, it is easy to label him as one of the most qualified candidates. Throughout his career, he
developed many names for himself. Most notably, he was known as the father of relativity and the
father of the atomic age. These two titles alone speak volumes about his achievements and
contributions to science, but it is important to examine how he got his name in the history books, and
how he made such a big name for himself in his seventy six years of life. Most people know him for
his theory of relativity, and the famous formula: E=mc2, but his contributions to science extend far
beyond that, making him a renowned scientist long after his death. It requires a tremendous amount of
passion for science to be able to live such an inspiring life and leave a long lasting legacy like Albert
Einstein has done. His passion and dedication are all shown in Albert Einstein s work and are what
make him one of the biggest contributors to science.

negligible benefit. The U.S and Britain started a preemptive war based off of rumours! I understand
very well Saddam Hussein was suspicious, but even more a reason to further the method of
diplomacy. Another huge argument in the favour of not invading Iraq, is that the great destruction of
life it caused. Thousands of innocent civilians were brutally killed or injured severely, along with
thousands of U.S soldiers. Bush, cut corners in his own interest, and seemed to not actually care about
the political state of Iraq, but his own interests. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was necessary for the American peoples safety. You don t just stand idle if there is even the mere
threat of biological weapons, you act upon it. What if there were weapons of mass destruction? What
would you do? Even if the War cost money, freedom does not come free. I believe the human and
economic cost of the war was merely the cost we had to pay for the liberation of Iraq s citizens.
Saddam Hussein was incredibly suspicious, and had previously possessed weapons of the type.
Saddam Hussein SUPPORTED TERRORISTS! Indeed, he supported Al Qaeda, the same group that
recently attacked in the tragic event of 9/11. Iraq was a huge threat to us. When the United Nations
wanted to examine suspected weapon sites, the dictator refused. This would be a red flag surely, if you
have lick of common sense. It is easy now to say it was unnecessary, because we are excused from the
conflict. Bush was protecting our safety, and we should recognize his diligence. Bush was trying the
liberate Iraq, and in many ways, we did. They set up a new Constitution, and a parliament. Terrorist
groups and violence rose afterwards, but that was not solely an outcome of the Iraq war. I believe
these groups would be just as violent either way. We gave Iraq increased freedom, and freedom is truly

Rating Othello
Rating Othello
Is this Shakespearean tragedy Othello at the top of the rating chart, or is it just near the top? And why?
This essay intends to examine various aspects of this subject, along with critical opinion.
This play ranks near the top. The Bard s presentation of emotions, character, of good and evil actions
that are down to earth these are sometimes seen as the main reasons for the high ranking of Othello.
Louis B. Wright and Virginia A. LaMar in The Engaging Qualities of Othello maintain that the
popularity of this play has been consistent for about 400 years because
it treats emotions that are universal and persistent in human nature. Its characters do not exist on a

Such human wisdom can be found in Iago s initial words to sleepy Brabantio: Zounds, sir, y are
robbed! For shame, put on your gown! / Your heart is burst; you have lost half your soul. Indeed, the
disappearance of Desdemona from home would seem as such to an elderly father. Human wisdom is
obvious again and again; for example, when the senator escorts the general to the council, the duke
addresses the valiant Othello without even noticing the senator at first: I did not see you. Welcome,
gentle signior. As Othello begins his address before council, he employs much wisdom in the first two
verses: Most potent, grave, and reverend signiors, / My very noble, and approved good masters, by
being as complimentary as possible, it would seem.
Shakespeare s human wisdom no doubt comes partially from his understanding of the workings of
man s mind. He possesses the ability to analyze in a psychological manner. Harry Levin s General
Introduction to The Riverside Shakespeare includes these comments regarding the psychological
aspect of Shakespeare s characters:
During the later eighteenth and most of the nineteenth century, Shakespeare s interpreters practiced
what Bernard Shaw liked to call Bardolatry. They all but deified the Bard of Avon because he was the
creator of so many characters who could be treated as if they were human beings could be identified
with, psychologized over [my

Urban Legends
Joel Beckwith February 13, 2001 Urban Legends
In this paper I will explain exactly what an urban legend is,and
give some examples of very popular ones that have been passed by
word of mouth for decades across the United States.
1 An urban legend is a story that is so bizarre, horrifying,or
unexplainable, that it makes something inside of us want to believe
it. Urban Legends can have traced origins from other countries,
universities, states, or people, that just decided to made up as
incredible story and pass it on to their friends and family members.

The Presidential Election Of The United States
The 1980 presidential election of the United States featured three primary candidates, Republican
Ronald Reagan, Democrat Jimmy Carter and liberal Republican John Anderson. Ronald Reagan was
the governor of California before he decided to run for the presidency. John Anderson was a
representative in Illinois and Carter was the incumbent. The lengthy Iran hostage crisis sharpened
public opinions by the beginning of the election season. In the 1970s, the United States were
experiencing a straining episode of low economic growth, high price increases and interest rates and
an irregular energy crisis. The sense of discomfort in both domestic and foreign affairs in the nation
were heading downward, this added to the downward spiral that was already going on. Between
Carter, Anderson and Reagan, the general election campaign of the 1980s seemed more concerned
with shadowboxing around political issues rather than a serious discussion of the issues that concerned
voters.
A key turning point in American politics was the election of 1980. It indicated the new electoral power
of the suburbs. The success that Reagan had as a conservative would initiate a group of parties
because liberals and conservatives would either leave politics or change party affiliations through
1980 s and 1990 s. The research shows this caused the 1980 election to be recalled as one of America
s best historical events.
George Bush and Ronald Reagan were the two candidates fighting for the

Catalase on Hydrogen Peroxide Essay
Abstract
The aim of this study was to test the rate of reactivity of the enzyme catalase on hydrogen peroxide
while subject to different concentrations of an inhibitor. The hypothesis was that hydrogen peroxide
will be broken down by catalase into hydrogen and oxygen, where a higher concentration of inhibitor
will yield less oxygen, resultant of a lower rate of reaction. Crushed potato samples of equal weight
were placed in hydrogen peroxide solutions of various temperatures. The results showed that less gas
was produced as the concentration of the inhibitor rose. This Is because more enzymes were inhibited,
and so less active sites were available for reaction.
Reasearch and rationale
Hypothesis:
Catalase will break down hydrogen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Planning I will be studying the rate of catalase activity on hydrogen peroxide while varying the
amount of inhibition, which should influence the rate of the reaction, and thus the amount of oxygen,
observed in a given time. The concentration of the inhibitor will therefore be the independent variable,
while the amount of oxygen will be the dependent variable. There should a smaller volume of oxygen
observed as the concentration of the enzyme increases. As I am comparing two variables to each other,
it would be wise to calculate the correlation of the two variables. To calculate the correlation, I should
use Spearman s rank correlation coefficient. To find a suitable correlation, I should use at least 8
samples. After plotting a scattergraph, I will proceed to find out the correlation if the correlation looks
reasonable enough. Variables Temperature: Temperature is an extremely important variable to
consider, as it can affect the rate of reaction in a number of ways. If the temperature of a system is
increased, more molecules will reach the activation energy and the rate of reaction will increase. The
number of collisions will also increase. As enzymes must collide with substrates, an increase in
temperature and thus kinetic energy will result in more collisions occurring in a given time. Increasing
the temperature will also increase the heat of the molecules.

The aim of this essay is to illustrate the role that matter plays in making social worlds secure or insecure. This introduction will give a brief overview of what this essay will include, also giving brief definitions of any key theories and concepts that will be used throughout. To discuss the role that matter has in the securities and/ or insecurities of social worlds, this essay will use examples which are discussed in the DD308 course book Security: Sociology and Social worlds. (Carter et al, 2008). There are a number of questions that will be discussed in this essay such as, what do sociologists mean when they refer to something as matter ? What is a social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All this has added to the growing popularity of the Harry Potter brand that is everywhere today. Young readers can relate to Harry s issues and the books create another world the readers can subconsciously escape too. The Harry Potter stories are a great example to show how matter can affect the social world s people live in and can be used to demonstrate the power branding can have on the world around us. Due to the massive popularity of the books, Warner decided to capitalise on their popularity and turn them into films, and due to the movies, paraphernalia and huge cult following, the Harry Potter franchise is worth an estimated £2.2 billion (Simmons, 2005). The Harry Potter franchise is a good example of the theory of psycho social (the psychological relationship readers have with the books) and also we can see how the franchise plays on these feelings to mediate messages to various social and cultural groups, by looking at this franchise one can see how inner emotional security is developed and used for profitable gain. Another example of people s insecurities being used for profitable gain which is addressed in the book Security: Sociology and Social worlds. I will be discussing some of the elements that I started to learn through the class. My personal growth as well as starting factors in my learning abilities. The question of my writing involvement will be entered this discussion as well. First, my Cornell notes weren t very directly to the main idea. For example, in my Cornell note 01 on October 05, you can see my questions are very short with minimal answers. However, in my Cornell note 04 on Oct 26, you can see my questions start to become more precise and to the point. As time went on in this course, my writing style changed to organizing my thoughts by following directions closely. Secondly, I would do less highlighting by miss the main idea for the book. I would put stars next to conversations as well as highlight key factors such as dates, landmarks, followed by the names of the main characters in my annotations. I would observe and analyze the focus of the book, Refuge . The words from the book, Refuge are higher level than what I currently read. However, starting this book has made me realize that I can learn new words. My grammar and vocabulary had become stronger by my involvement in this class. • 4. Protest Methods Of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a human rights activist who fought for the independence of India from British Rule. His revolutionary protest methods inspired the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. and others. However, many despised Gandhi s methods. One night, Gandhi, after shaming the city of Delhi, was heading to a prayer meeting and it was there that Nathuram Godse fired three point blank shots at Gandhi, killing him on the spot. Gandhi s assassination was justified because he employed controversial protest methods, he defied British Rule, and he combined conflicting religions which caused confusion in his community. Many may say that Gandhi did many great things, but those positives are outweighed by the negatives. To begin with, Gandhi continuously employed controversial and illegal methods to protest the injustices that his people faced. For example, Gandhi led a satyagraha due to the prohibition of salt exportation to India from countries other than Britain. According to This Day in History, Gandhi set out from Sabarmati with 78 followers on a 241 mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on the Arabian Sea. There, Gandhi and his supporters were to defy British policy by making salt from seawater (paragraph 3). This action was literally illegal. Similarly in 1920, America banned the production and distribution of alcohol. However, many individuals decided to make and distribute alcohol or have it imported. They were called bootleggers. According to Manuel (2006), Sparrow demonstrated year after year, with his social commentaries that the calypsonian is really the eyes and ears of the people. Aldwyn Roberts, better known as Lord Kitchener , shares with Mighty sparrow the title of the world s best known Calypso singer (Manuel, 2006). Aldwyn Roberts was the son of a blacksmith, Stephen, and homemaker Albertha. Kitchener s success began after he moved to England in 1948. His fame continued throughout the 1950s, when calypso achieved international success (wikipedia.org). He began his career in Trinidad and won his first Road March award for singing in 1946. He and the Mighty Sparrow proceeded to dominate the calypso competitions of the sixties and seventies. It has been stated that Lord Kitchener won the road march competition ten times between 1965 and 1976, more times than any other calypsonian. In the 1950s, he explored West Africa and enjoyed a big hit there with his single, Nora . • 20. Short Story The Chair On Top Of The World In the two short stories The chair on top of the world by Stuart Baum and All summer in a day by Ray Bradbury, I will be comparing Tomas, the main character from The chair on top of the world and Margot, the main character from All summer in a day . I will be comparing what Tomas s personality to Margot s personality. In The chair on top of the world , Tomas, the main character attempts to find the chair that is on top of the world. In his journey, he meets a unicorn and 2 dragons that assist him on his quest to find the chair on top of the world. In the end, Tomas figures out that since the world is a sphere, Wherever he stands, he will most likely be on top of the world. All summer in a day , in this short story, Margot, a 4 year old girl moves from Earth to Venus. 5 years later, she has grown tired of this planet s heavy rain and wants to sun to rise. A few days later, she hears that scientists predict the sun will be finally coming out again. Margot becomes extremely excited. But the problem is that before the teacher gets to class, William the bully and his gang lock Margot in a closet and they go off to play in the sun. Then after 1 hour, the rain starts again. So the children gloomily unlocked the closet and let Margot out. That was those 2 stories. In my opinion, I like Tomas s personality more than Margot s because Tomas is braver than Margot, the role he plays is better than Margot, and Tomas gets along better with other characters than Margot does. One reason why I like Tomas s personality is that he persevered until the very end. It s not up here, said the tiny dragon. Do you know where it is? asked Tomas. The dragon shook its head. Nope, sorry. (6 Baum)The quote helps back up my statement because This was one of the challenges Tomas faced when he wanted to find the chair on top of the world. So Tomas went up to first the first mountain and the dragon told him that the mountain wasn t on the top of the world. So this means that Tomas didn t give up on sitting on the top of the world. At the end, Tomas finally accomplished his goal(sort of). I think the sun is a flower, that blooms for just one hour. This was Margot s poem. This quote helps me explain why Margot is not ... • 21. Animal Imagery In Fairy Tales Historiographical Essay Over time, historians have interpreted the use of animal imagery in western folk and fairy tales as a means for providing entertainment and moral lessons to western society. However, many historians have different ideas about how animal imagery and stereotypes actually affect a society besides keeping away from wolves and bears and such. Dr. Jack Zipes, a professor of German and comparative literature, promotes in his paper, What Makes a Repulsive Frog So Appealing: Memetics and Fairy Tales, that the story of The Frog Prince is actually a story about the strategies of mating and how the frog symbolizes its appearance of an unsuitable mate to a suitable one. In addition to how specific animal stereotypes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whatever the minor variations, Zipes argues that there are elements that are the same throughout that become the metaphors that strengthen his mating strategy theory. Starting at the beginning, the princess is young and has reached puberty, most likely with her golden ball symbolizing her virginity and purity. She brings out the ball to play with as a means of showing her availability and losing the ball in the water is representing how she is testing out the waters for suitable mates. However, an unsuitable mate, the frog, shows up and she rejects him. This rejection, Zipes argues, reflects the rejection by women who were forced into arranged marriages by their fathers either based on appearance, age, or wealth. However, the princess s father says she must do what the frog says, which is to sleep in her bed, which further symbolizes the struggles of an arranged marriage. However, in the 1857 version of the tale, the princess throws the frog against the wall to show her sexual independence, because she knows that she must bear an heir and that he will be an unsuitable mate that will neither make her children healthy and strong of give them financial security. Through this display of sexual independence, and the frog transforms into a handsome prince, becoming a more suitable mate for the princess . According to Webster s Dictionary, integrity is the adherence to moral and ethical principles; and soundness of moral character. Dedicated to not losing himself by consenting to the King s divorce, Thomas More continually shows the adherence to his morality rather than the wishes of those around him. Even though this historic drama ultimately ends in the beheading of Sir Thomas More, his integrity shows his devotion towards himself, his piety towards his country, and his self respect that contrasts with the other characters. • 24. An Additional Area Of Contention Within The Literature An additional area of contention within the literature regards the effects of polling on voters. The majority of scholars support the idea that polling publication does indeed have an effect on voters. On the lower end of the influence scale, scholars such as Cutler et al. (2012:282) conclude that poll reporting is potentially an autonomous influence on the behaviour of voters as they reason their way to electoral decisions. However, their study does not delve too heavily into the actual empirical influence of poll reporting s effects, but rather alludes to its potential effects. More comprehensive studies of the 1988 election in Canada found that polling had a much larger effect on voting behaviour (Blais, Gidengil and Nivette 2006:272). ... However, this study concluded by finding that when it came down to election day, there was no clear evidence that these reported voting intentions, as a result of polling publication or news stories, influenced undecided voters when they reached the voting booth, as the influence was not found to be statistically significant (ibid:39 40). Normative Assessments: Effects of Polling Publication on Democracy? Most of the literature discussed in the above chapters has been fairly empirical in its findings. However, some of the current literature discussing the nature of polling publication and its influence on voters have also brought normative claims to their studies. These normative claims operate under the assumption that polling publication is indeed influencing voter decisions, and subsequently ask: what do the effects of voter influence from polling publication mean for Canadian democracy? In response to this question, two sides have emerged in the debate; a majority of scholars who believe polling publication is negatively affecting democracy, and a small minority who believe polling publication is benefiting democracy. Those who believe polling publication is negatively affecting Canadian democracy argue two claims. Firstly, due to the influence polling publications have on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Seeing is a more open, receptive, and focused version of looking. I was able to see some incredible pieces of art at the Kings Art Center. They were holding an exhibition by artist Maria F. Simoes and it gave me the opportunity to compare multiple works from the same artist, which was very interesting. The first piece of art by Maria F. Simoes that caught my eye was Windmill (2). The Simoes created this piece using oil on canvas, which is her medium of choice for many of her paintings. This piece is a landscape painting featuring a windmill in a scenic rural setting. Simoes used color to give the piece some variety, while unifying it using shapes and patterns. The pattern of the stone walls is mimicked in the stone base of the windmill, while the shapes of the tops of the bushes is very similar to the tops of the clouds. The red used for the top of the windmill lends some variety. The color also draws the eye, emphasizing the intended focal point, while creating interesting contrast. The artist uses the flower that sets low on the picture plane in the left corner for multiple purposes. It helps balance the painting, while creating depth. The large flower appears very close to the viewer, while the windmill seems small in proportion and much further away. The fact that it and the blue flower in the lower right overlap the stone ... The number of factors to consider can be overwhelming leading to errors in judgement and unnecessary risk taking. This article aims to assist you in tackling this process by providing a simplified overview of the Five Forces Analysis model. This is not a step by step guide, nor a list of dos and don ts, but rather a set of factors that should be considered when assessing the competitive intensity and attractiveness of a market. The Five Forces Analysis was created by Harvard Professor Michael Porter in 1979 and it provides a framework for industry analysis and business development. Porter proposes there to be five forces which either inhibit or prohibit a company s ability to succeed in a given market. 1. Threat of new entrants 2. Threat of substitutes 3. Bargaining power of buyers 4. Bargaining power of suppliers 5. Intensity of rivalry Threat of new entrants A market is much more attractive if it is difficult to enter. This may sound odd at first as it seems more logical to pursue a market that is easy to enter. However, if you can do it so can everyone else, and if it is extremely easy for other businesses to enter a market with little skill, experience or start up costs you will find it extremely difficult to create and capture any value from that market. ... This anonymous quote is a direct reference to the issue of pollution, and the ramifications and effects it has on plants and the cycle of photosynthesis. Pollution not only directly effect plants and the cycle of photosynthesis, but pollution can also indirectly harm other elements that contribute to the life of a plant and the cycles it performs. Photosynthesis is the cycle in which light energy converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen by ways of a chemical reaction (Robinson 2015). Photosynthesis , overall a fairly simple process, has couple complex reactions. To fully understand the cycle, it should be broken down into two simple stages. These stages can be divided up into light reactions and the Calvin Cycle. In the first step of photosynthesis, the light reaction, solar energy is converted into the form of chemical energy. This entails the chlorophyll absorbing light from the sun and transforming it into NADP+ (nicotin amide ademine dinucleotide phosphate) and ATP, through means of a chemical reaction. During the second stage, the Calvin cycle, the plant takes in CO2, and processes it through the chloroplast. Following it converts the carbons into carbohydrates by adding electrons using chemical energy such as ATP. The end result of this stage is sugar and oxygen. The process of photosynthesis occurs primarily in the chlorophyll of the leaf. The leaf also has a structural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Motif Of Entrapment By Edith Wharton Executive Order 9066, passed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1942, forced all Japanese Americans to pack up their lives and move to internment camps, a place where they would live in shabby barracks and get treated unfairly by guards. This order confineded the American citizens in heinous camps for up to three years. Because of their heritage, which could be as little as one sixteenth Japanese, the citizens were obligated to move; they became trapped in these camps where unhappiness was present in every aspect of life. Similarly, in the novel Ethan Frome, the title character is trapped in his unhappy life due to marriage, family, property, and financial liabilities. The author, Edith Wharton uses the motif of entrapment to prove how obligations lead to unhappiness throughout the novel. As important as it is for Gary to experience and work through the emotions associated with Chris s death, I do not believe that this alone will be enough to help him work through his grief. Matthews and Marwit (2004) suggest that complicated grief is a pattern of non normative behavior triggered by the loss of a loved one. The authors argue that complicated grief may resemble depression while often also including symptoms relating to separation distress and traumatic distress, illustrated by Gary s feelings of loneliness and rumination over his relationship with Chris in addition to his anger, guilt, and social isolation. This article describes how, traditionally, it was thought that a bereaved person needed to go through grief work by confronting and processing emotions associated with the loss of a loved one. However, this confrontation of emotion may not be enough and recovery may also require addressing the cognitions of the bereaved person. In addition, the authors of this study suggest a dual process model in which the bereaved person oscillates between confronting various types of stressors, then taking a break from those stressors. Lenders no longer want to work with individuals who have gone through the foreclosure process and for many it is not only their homes they lose. Some have lost their jobs and/or families, others fall into a deep depression and worst of all some have taken their own lives. An alternative would be for lenders to add a true customer service department which is not based on pay or get out, but is counseling based to keep Americans in the American Dream of home ownership. This would not only keep their customers for future business with new home loans, but would be noticed by neighbors and the community who are appreciative their home values are not decreasing. The lenders would counsel them through the sale by assisting them with getting the most they can for their home. By getting local community organizations involved to help with home repairs and curb appeal. Once the home is market ready and a dollar amount has been reached for these repairs the home owner will have to volunteer time and/or resources to assist another person going through the same situation. The first piece of Artwork was originally located in the city of Ur, it is called the Ziggurat of Ur. The Ziggurat of Ur was built by the Sumerians. The Sumerians were the first group of people in Mesopotamia, known as the cradle of civilization. They invented the first form of writing known as cuneiform, along with the wheel. Sumerians worshipped many Gods and Goddesses in temples or located in ziggurats (Gateways to Art, 2012, p.371). Ziggurats are known as Mesopotamian temples or pyramids that grew in size toward the bottom, constructed from mud and bricks. The Ziggurats were man made mountains which housed Gods and Goddesses. Albert Einstein: Theoretical Physicist, Mathematician, Genius Even in the year 2015, when asking the question, who is the smartest person in history? you are likely to receive the same answer every time. Most people recognize this person to be Albert Einstein. This is certainly not an easy title to earn, but when you look at who Albert Einstein is to the world, his achievements, and the work he has done for not only the scientific community, but for the entire world, it is easy to label him as one of the most qualified candidates. Throughout his career, he developed many names for himself. Most notably, he was known as the father of relativity and the father of the atomic age. These two titles alone speak volumes about his achievements and contributions to science, but it is important to examine how he got his name in the history books, and how he made such a big name for himself in his seventy six years of life. Most people know him for his theory of relativity, and the famous formula: E=mc2, but his contributions to science extend far beyond that, making him a renowned scientist long after his death. It requires a tremendous amount of passion for science to be able to live such an inspiring life and leave a long lasting legacy like Albert Einstein has done. His passion and dedication are all shown in Albert Einstein s work and are what make him one of the biggest contributors to science. In this context, it is worth noting that dental health remains a major issue for much of the New Zealand population, and that economically and from the equity perspective fluoridation remains the safest and most appropriate approach for promoting dental public health. Community water fluoridation is a safe and effective way of preventing tooth decay at a low cost. And fluoride is the top 13th most abundant element created in the earth. Yet fluoride is not found in its pure form in nature only combined with other elements therefore it is being added to the water supply. The role of fluoride is known to have a protective effect against tooth decay by preventing Water or brushing teeth with fluoride toothpaste raises the concentration of fluoride in saliva Fluoride is absorbed and ... The intake of fluoride in excess can contribute to health issue known as fluorosis, which could be unethical due to adverse effects Severe cases can be caused by exposure to water that is naturally fluoridated to levels well above the recommended levels, or by exposure to other fluoride sources such as brick tea or pollution from high fluoride coal. On the other hand, however it can cause negative effects such as tumour, thyroid damage, bone issues and effects to the mental wellbeing. Fluoride has been shown to be toxic and affects the brain and kidney when ingested. Rats fed for one year with 1 ppm fluoride in their water, using either sodium fluoride or aluminium fluoride, had morphological changes to their kidneys and brains, an increased uptake of aluminium in the brain, and the formation of beta amyloid deposits which are characteristic of Alzheimer s disease. Fluoride allows aluminium a heavy metal to cross the blood brain barrier which can therefore cause these sickness associated with this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Why We Should Not Invade Iraq Nikola Kurpatov, Editor and author of Iraq: Through our Eyes America should have never invaded Iraq. It cost the American government trillions, and for what? Its toils and bloodshed outweighed any negligible benefit. The U.S and Britain started a preemptive war based off of rumours! I understand very well Saddam Hussein was suspicious, but even more a reason to further the method of diplomacy. Another huge argument in the favour of not invading Iraq, is that the great destruction of life it caused. Thousands of innocent civilians were brutally killed or injured severely, along with thousands of U.S soldiers. It was necessary for the American peoples safety. You don t just stand idle if there is even the mere threat of biological weapons, you act upon it. What if there were weapons of mass destruction? What would you do? Even if the War cost money, freedom does not come free. I believe the human and economic cost of the war was merely the cost we had to pay for the liberation of Iraq s citizens. Saddam Hussein was incredibly suspicious, and had previously possessed weapons of the type. Saddam Hussein SUPPORTED TERRORISTS! Indeed, he supported Al Qaeda, the same group that recently attacked in the tragic event of 9/11. Iraq was a huge threat to us. When the United Nations wanted to examine suspected weapon sites, the dictator refused. This would be a red flag surely, if you have lick of common sense. It is easy now to say it was unnecessary, because we are excused from the conflict. Bush was protecting our safety, and we should recognize his diligence. Bush was trying the liberate Iraq, and in many ways, we did. They set up a new Constitution, and a parliament. Terrorist groups and violence rose afterwards, but that was not solely an outcome of the Iraq war. I believe these groups would be just as violent either way. We gave Iraq increased freedom, and freedom is truly a patriotic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay intends to examine various aspects of this subject, along with critical opinion. This play ranks near the top. The Bard s presentation of emotions, character, of good and evil actions that are down to earth these are sometimes seen as the main reasons for the high ranking of Othello. Louis B. Wright and Virginia A. LaMar in The Engaging Qualities of Othello maintain that the popularity of this play has been consistent for about 400 years because it treats emotions that are universal and persistent in human nature. (37) Such human wisdom can be found in Iago s initial words to sleepy Brabantio: Zounds, sir, y are robbed! For shame, put on your gown! / Your heart is burst; you have lost half your soul. Indeed, the disappearance of Desdemona from home would seem as such to an elderly father. Human wisdom is obvious again and again; for example, when the senator escorts the general to the council, the duke addresses the valiant Othello without even noticing the senator at first: I did not see you. Welcome, gentle signior. As Othello begins his address before council, he employs much wisdom in the first two verses: Most potent, grave, and reverend signiors, / My very noble, and approved good masters, by being as complimentary as possible, it would seem. Shakespeare s human wisdom no doubt comes partially from his understanding of the workings of man s mind. He possesses the ability to analyze in a psychological manner. Harry Levin s General Introduction to The Riverside Shakespeare includes these comments regarding the psychological aspect of Shakespeare s characters: During the later eighteenth and most of the nineteenth century, Shakespeare s interpreters practiced what Bernard Shaw liked to call Bardolatry. They all but deified the Bard of Avon because he was the creator of so many characters who could be treated as if they were human beings could be identified with, psychologized over [my ... • 46. The Presidential Election Of The United States The 1980 presidential election of the United States featured three primary candidates, Republican Ronald Reagan, Democrat Jimmy Carter and liberal Republican John Anderson. Ronald Reagan was the governor of California before he decided to run for the presidency. John Anderson was a representative in Illinois and Carter was the incumbent. The lengthy Iran hostage crisis sharpened public opinions by the beginning of the election season. In the 1970s, the United States were experiencing a straining episode of low economic growth, high price increases and interest rates and an irregular energy crisis. The sense of discomfort in both domestic and foreign affairs in the nation were heading downward, this added to the downward spiral that was already going on. Between Carter, Anderson and Reagan, the general election campaign of the 1980s seemed more concerned with shadowboxing around political issues rather than a serious discussion of the issues that concerned voters. A key turning point in American politics was the election of 1980. It indicated the new electoral power of the suburbs. The success that Reagan had as a conservative would initiate a group of parties because liberals and conservatives would either leave politics or change party affiliations through 1980 s and 1990 s. The research shows this caused the 1980 election to be recalled as one of America s best historical events. George Bush and Ronald Reagan were the two candidates fighting for the ... • 47. Catalase on Hydrogen Peroxide Essay Abstract The aim of this study was to test the rate of reactivity of the enzyme catalase on hydrogen peroxide while subject to different concentrations of an inhibitor. The hypothesis was that hydrogen peroxide will be broken down by catalase into hydrogen and oxygen, where a higher concentration of inhibitor will yield less oxygen, resultant of a lower rate of reaction. Crushed potato samples of equal weight were placed in hydrogen peroxide solutions of various temperatures. The results showed that less gas was produced as the concentration of the inhibitor rose. This Is because more enzymes were inhibited, and so less active sites were available for reaction. Reasearch and rationale Hypothesis: Catalase will break down hydrogen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Planning I will be studying the rate of catalase activity on hydrogen peroxide while varying the amount of inhibition, which should influence the rate of the reaction, and thus the amount of oxygen, observed in a given time. The concentration of the inhibitor will therefore be the independent variable, while the amount of oxygen will be the dependent variable. There should a smaller volume of oxygen observed as the concentration of the enzyme increases. As I am comparing two variables to each other, it would be wise to calculate the correlation of the two variables. To calculate the correlation, I should use Spearman s rank correlation coefficient. To find a suitable correlation, I should use at least 8 samples. After plotting a scattergraph, I will proceed to find out the correlation if the correlation looks reasonable enough. Variables Temperature: Temperature is an extremely important variable to consider, as it can affect the rate of reaction in a number of ways. If the temperature of a system is increased, more molecules will reach the activation energy and the rate of reaction will increase. The number of collisions will also increase. As enzymes must collide with substrates, an increase in temperature and thus kinetic energy will result in more collisions occurring in a given time. Increasing the temperature will also increase the heat of the molecules. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
